00:00Two brothers, separated by the difficult circumstances of existence, must confront each other in a future from which few manage to emerge as they arrived.
00:10This story begins with Paddy, a retired Greco-Roman wrestling coach who now attended support meetings for addictions because of his troubled past, marked by alcohol.
00:21A past he would have to face at the threshold of his home when Tommy, his youngest son, visits him after 14 years of absence.
00:29Tommy had been a promising fighter and proud of his father, a father sunk in drinking who constantly mistreated his wife.
00:36Because of this, she and Tommy fled far away, never to see him again.
00:41Paddy boasts of having quit alcohol, but Tommy's resentment toward him remained embedded inside, and he cared so little that he even changed his last name to his mother's.
00:51Then, he recounts the journey they lived together with her when they escaped.
00:55At that time, he was just a teenager, while his mother battled terminal cancer without being able to access any kind of medical care until her last days.
01:04On the other hand, there is Brendan, Tommy's brother, an exemplary type as a father, who let his daughters paint on him while he built a home for them and his wife, supported by the salary of a respectable job as a physics teacher at a high school.
01:17Brendan was appreciated by his students, and although he seemed to have a happy life, the bank that managed his mortgage reminded him otherwise.
01:26The uncontrollable spasms of the interest rate, generated by the obvious global housing bubble, had left Brendan on the verge of eviction.
01:35The young man could not gather enough to cover the payments, and he needed to reconsider how to organize his future.
01:40Meanwhile, Tommy returns to the old neighborhood, and rolls up in an old gym to regain his physical shape.
01:47There they trained a certain MacDog, a promising UFC or mixed martial arts fighter.
01:53He required a sparring partner to practice, Tommy volunteers, but the coach despises him, and MacDog shows arrogance toward him.
02:01Tommy is seething with rage.
02:02It turns out, the sparring partner they were looking for was not available, so they agree to put Tommy as a replacement to take the blows of the supposed future star.
02:11However, when he steps into the ring, he quickly demonstrates his skill.
02:15He takes it seriously, so much so that he delivers a monumental beating to the young prodigy, leaving him badly injured.
02:23Back to Brendan's financial problems.
02:25He also had a great past as a fighter, and he decides to look for some money in one of those low-level fights.
02:30It had been a long time since he had fought, but in order to pay the bank installment, he arms himself with courage.
02:37He relentlessly hits his opponent.
02:39After achieving victory, he returns home, where his wife scolds him for fighting again.
02:44In the past, Brendan had ended up hospitalized, and she didn't want to go through the same anguish again.
02:50Help me reach 10 likes and 5 comments.
02:53Comment, the important thing is to get there.
02:56Brendan is not ready to give up his home.
02:58The dispute remained unresolved.
03:01Meanwhile, his brother, Tommy, much to his displeasure, returns to his father.
03:06Although it would not be to mend the bond, but because Tommy needed the best trainer, and that was his father.
03:13Tommy was aware of the resentment his father held against him, but if he wanted to win, he had to be under his instruction.
03:19His father then imposed the conditions as a coach, clarifying that if he wanted to succeed, he had to abandon the pills he took for his pain and submit to a rigorous nutrition plan.
03:31On the other hand, Brendan's students identify him in a video where he appeared fighting.
03:37But even worse, it had escalated up to his principal and the school's supervision.
03:42He explains to the principal that he does it out of necessity because he cannot make ends meet.
03:47The consequence?
03:48Brendan is sanctioned for a season without receiving a salary.
03:51Now the situation was more complicated than before, so the physics teacher will have to use all the skills he has acquired as an educator to defeat his opponents and thereby settle his debts.
04:03To achieve this, he will have to get in shape with his old friend, Frank, who had been his trainer in the Golden Era.
04:08Frank had built a significant reputation, training great prospects like the one he had in his sights at that moment, Marco.
04:17He tells his comrade that his time had passed and that he was going to be destroyed in the ring.
04:22But Brendan was not willing to give up so easily, so Frank welcomes him into his gym.
04:27The video of the confrontation between Tommy and Mad Dog goes viral, and a Marine who was on active duty in Iraq recognizes him at a key event during a battle.
04:36However, for now, we won't know much more.
04:40Tommy showed no mercy toward his father and kept him emotionally distant.
04:44The elder wanted to mend the relationship with his children.
04:48Brendan hadn't seen him in years either, as he harbored resentment for the harsh childhood he had endured.
04:53He had stayed with his father because of the relationship he maintained with his current wife,
04:58and because he thought that with Tommy absent, his father could train him.
05:02But the lack of faith in him kept him away from the fights.
05:04Paddy makes him know that Tommy had returned and was training with him.
05:09Now Brendan feels much more dejected.
05:11Paddy makes a misstep.
05:13Tommy seems to have a moral debt to the family of his comrade-in-arms in the army.
05:18Brendan and Tommy begin an exhausting preparation to face their destinies.
05:22Tommy had managed to enter one of the most violent wrestling competitions.
05:26Sparta had a monarch, and that was Koba, almost an indestructible machine.
05:30In contrast, Brendan was preparing for much more amateur fights.
05:35His victories gave his finances a breather.
05:38The coach had plenty to contribute, but his partner Frank was committed to the future of his star pupil.
05:43A champion who suffered a serious injury that would keep him out of the tournament, which represented a huge opportunity.
05:50Brendan asks to take the place of that promising fighter.
05:53Frank refuses, but he remembers that he had been the best in the past and finally agrees.
05:57His wife finds out and warns him that she does not intend to assist him if they bring him paralyzed.
06:03Brendan does not care, as he was determined not to lose his home.
06:07A week later, the big competition is announced, where Brendan and Tommy exchange glances after 15 years, although something obvious stood between them.
06:15The next day, Tommy's recognition by a soldier from the army places him in the news,
06:20as he turned out to be a hero by saving several soldiers from an armored vehicle that was sinking.
06:24That hero reunites with his brother.
06:26Tommy feels betrayed, because Brendan was supposed to run away with him and his mother, but he chose his wife and father.
06:33If anything was clear, it was that Tommy did not forgive easily.
06:37Brendan, for his part, also reproaches him for not allowing him to say goodbye to his dying mother.
06:42The relationship between them is loaded with resentment, which would be resolved in the hexagon.
06:47The first to enter is Tommy, a complete stranger, who had gotten in thanks to a viral video after sending his rival out on a stretcher.
06:55The news of his feet spreads for tearing the hatch off a tank to rescue his comrades.
07:00The outcome was obvious.
07:02The opponents greet each other.
07:03The contest begins, and four seconds later, Tommy's adversary is defeated.
07:07Now it's his older brother's turn, who is feeling insecure.
07:11Frank motivates him not to give up.
07:14Frank uses classical music to calm his fighters, and he brings in Brendan with Beethoven.
07:18The commentators think Brendan is a goldfish in a pond of sharks.
07:22Underestimating his abilities, dreamers like Brendan, after taking several blows and knee strikes, are on the verge of sleeping forever.
07:29However, he's saved by the bell.
07:32In the second round, they continue fighting like colossi, although the coach begins to deploy his greatest talent.
07:38Tommy shows himself as a wrecking machine, while Brendan is a combat chiropractor, and he achieves victory.
07:44No one could have imagined that an anonymous physics teacher had made history today, but there was still a long way to go.
07:51His wife receives the news of such a feat.
07:53It was not yet the time to celebrate, as there were still other excellent fighters remaining, and moreover, his brother was the favorite.
08:01Brendan had to continue showing off his skills with dedication, while Tommy was a true bulldozer crushing rivals.
08:08The crowd adored this heroic character who appeared sporadically.
08:12His father wanted to join that crowd, and expressed that he felt proud of his son as a ring warrior.
08:16The truth of the story for Tommy was very different, for he was deserting from the Marine Corps at the moment he crossed a war zone, and he only reacted instinctively to rescue the others, but he felt little merit since he was abandoning his commitment to his nation.
08:32Tommy did not require the condescension of his pathetic and alcoholic father, and it ended up being a knockout in their bond, destroying his emotions.
08:39The next morning, after almost three arduous years of abstinence, Patty returned to alcohol, and was trapped by the ghosts of yesterday.
08:48Tommy no longer had the energy to deliver the final blow to that individual who had destroyed his life, and he chose to comfort him.
08:55Last evening of fights, a full squad of Marines was going to pay tribute to this worthy soldier.
09:00His opponent, Mech Dug, yes, that man whom he had sent to sleep in the gym.
09:05He was no match for him, as he defeated him with little effort.
09:08It was Brandon's turn, and his entire school supported him, especially his wife, who was present.
09:15The final seemed to be rushing for Brandon, since a formidable Russian opponent, resentful of vile capitalism, wanted to leave him quadriplegic.
09:22After establishing the rules, the match begins, and Brandon was having his bones pulverized with blows.
09:29From time to time, I managed to catch a breath.
09:31He had the chance to inhale a little.
09:33The Russian remained intact as if nothing had happened.
09:36Frank motivated him by telling him that if he did not defeat the Russian, he would have to sleep with his daughters under a bridge.
09:43Then, he employs all his tactics to subdue the Soviet behemoth.
09:47A difficult task, until he manages to trap him with a constrictor snake and accomplishes the unattainable once again.
09:55Tommy's story in the army is concluded by the wife of his late comrade, Manny.
09:58Tommy's regiment had been bombarded by their own allies, even as they raised the Star-Spangled Banner.
10:05The only one who survived was Tommy, who deserted and vowed to his friend's widow to provide for his family.
10:11Manny was the brother he had lost alongside Brandon.
10:14The military police were waiting to arrest and prosecute him, but the most devastating news for those present was discovering that Brandon and Tommy were brothers.
10:22Fate confronted them after 14 years with a flood of mixed emotions and a past that was not yet buried.
10:30Tommy's resentment showed on his face, while Brandon, on the contrary, fought only to protect his home.
10:36Compassion was not a virtue of Tommy's, and Brendan had to fall like the others, or even harder.
10:42Tommy was enraged, overflowing with resentment, and Brendan was going to channel all of that into punches, strikes that did not cease.
10:49His older brother tried to respond, but there was no opportunity.
10:53The contest seemed endless until a small opening appeared, and Brendan seized it.
10:59Brendan had dislocated Tommy's shoulder.
11:01The hatred toward that man did not allow him to reason clearly, and his brother wanted to request that the fight be stopped.
11:07Tommy had no intention of surrendering, even though he knew he had no chance.
11:12His already brother wanted to end that fight, and with one impact, weakened him.
11:16On the ground, he subdued him, while asking for forgiveness and confessing that he loved him.
11:22Their father watched that way of resolving the old family wounds.
11:25United and embraced, they withdrew, leaving one of the best fights as a spectacle,
11:31demonstrating that in the end, family is what matters most.
