00:00If methane leaks were visible, the outcry would be enormous.

00:08But as an invisible, odorless gas, most companies seem unmotivated to address their leaks,

00:15which have consequences for all life on the planet.

00:19We've got feedback loops that are happening right now in the atmosphere

00:24that are essentially creating a runaway feedback loop of methane levels rising.

00:31Simultaneously, 40% of all methane that ends up in the atmosphere is coming from so-called natural sources,

00:41such as this wetland behind me.

00:44Unfortunately, both the 60% coming from man-made sources

00:50and the 40% coming from natural sources are increasing.

00:55And the fear is that that 40%, the natural sources,

01:00that we may have triggered a feedback loop that could exceed the 60% now

01:07that we see coming from man-made sources of methane,

01:12and we could get a sudden burst of methane in the atmosphere,

01:16which would be, simply put, catastrophic.

01:20The majority will be anywhere there.
