00:14The decision was debated at a scrutiny board after opposition councillors called for a
00:19so-called call-in, but the request was dismissed by eight votes to four.
00:24Conservative councillor Andrew Carter described it as a fire sale and claimed other options
00:29had not been fully explored.
00:32Council leader James Lewis said the community proposals have been examined over a number
00:37of years, adding that selling surplus buildings was a sound way to support the council's finances.
