00:00The Council in Darlington will decide on plans for around 40 new homes on a 2.7-acre site at
00:07Sparrow Hall Drive.
00:08The proposal is aimed at helping to tackle homelessness and also to provide affordable housing for local families and older
00:15residents.
00:17Councillors say it would give people a safe, secure and affordable place to live.
00:22The Council says that homes would be let at social rent levels and prioritised for local residents.
00:27Cabinet members will also consider granting access to adjoining Elm Tree Farm.
00:33Both sites are allocated for housing in the local plan.
00:36Any development would still need full planning permission before construction would be able to begin.
