00:00Damien, I don't know what your thoughts are when it comes to Iran, because I find it really interesting.
00:04I feel like the rhetoric on Iran has been hyped up in the last couple of weeks.
00:09Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel won't let Iran restore ballistic missile program.
00:15He said that today. We honestly heard from Donald Trump a little bit earlier.
00:20We've seen these protests into the ninth day.
00:23They reckon about 20 people have actually died in these protests, which are all about the economy.
00:30What's your thoughts on what's actually happening inside of Iran?
00:33Well, I think again and again, we're seeing that people discount what Donald Trump says at their peril.
00:39He's not 100 percent consistent.
00:41But as Nicolas Maduro found out at the weekend, sometimes he does back up what he says with actions and with decisive actions.
00:50In terms of what is happening in Iran, it seems obvious to me that Iran is being messed with from a distance.
00:57It's infrastructure keeps failing. It's water, it's sanitation, it's currency.
01:03There are more and more situations being created that are causing immense discontent amongst the populace.
01:11And that seems concerted and deliberate and has led to these protests quite understandably.
01:18It seems equally obvious to me that America and Israel would far rather not have to intervene.
01:26American interventions in Middle East are typically disastrous and highly expensive.
01:34So I think they would far prefer and are trying to create the conditions in which the Iranian people do it themselves.
01:42And it looks like that is becoming potentially successful, which is an extremely interesting and heightened situation for the whole region.
01:52And there have been rumours, Damien, that Ayatollah Khamenei could actually try to flee Iran as a result of this unrest that has been bubbling up in the country.
02:06What are your thoughts on that? And where likely could he actually go?
02:10Well, I'm sure he, I mean, obviously it's a last resort to flee, and he would only do that if the enemy was at the gate and looked like he was going to end up in a very bad place indeed.
02:23I don't think it's a long list of places he could go to, to be perfectly honest.
02:27I think it would have to be Russia.
02:29And he may have made plans for that to happen.
02:32He may scarper if things get heavy, really heavy.
02:36But I think we've got a little way to go.
02:38But in these things, things can move incredibly fast.
02:41It can happen overnight. You never know.
02:42It's impossible to tell.
02:44When the herd moves, the herd moves.
