00:00Big cook, little cook, welcome to our cafe. Big cook, little cook, want you to come and play.
00:17Meeting all the friends we cook for, sharing stories, trips and fun. Big cook, little cook, we'll cook for everyone.
00:30Post here, Small. Hello, everyone. Welcome to our cafe, the best cafe in the world.
00:40Hello, everyone. I wonder what our postman's brought us today. Well, Small, there's a parcel for me. Isn't that exciting? And there's a postcard for me. And there's a letter for me. Nothing for you, though, I'm afraid, Small.
00:54Oh, well, never mind. I wonder what's in your parcel, though, Ben. Well, let's have a look.
01:00Oh, this is exciting. Oh, it's a box.
01:13Oh, Small, look. It's a mug with my name on it.
01:18It's not your birthday, is it, Ben?
01:20Oh, no, no. It's just a little not-birthday surprise from my Auntie Pan. Oh, isn't that nice?
01:27I never get not-birthday surprises in the post. Oh, this is fantastic. Oh, where's the postcard?
01:34Oh, and my Uncle Brian's gone to the seaside again. He says,
01:38Weather great. Been swimming every day. Wish you were here. From Uncle Brian. Oh, that's nice.
01:44Oh, I wish I got a postcard. I never get postcards or surprises. In fact, apart from Christmas and birthdays, I never get any post at all.
01:53Well, do you write letters to other people, Small? Well, not really.
01:57Well, sometimes you have to send letters to get letters back. If you write and tell people your news, they'll usually write back with theirs.
02:04Oh, I've never thought about it like that before. Oh, yes. I love writing cards, letters, emails, and it's even better to get a letter back.
02:14Oh, sounds like we've got a customer, Small. I'll have to read this later. Why don't you go and see who it is?
02:21I'm on my way.
02:23Woo-hoo!
02:29So, who's our customer today, then, Small?
02:31Well, we've actually got two customers today, Ben.
02:36Come on, then. Give us a clue. Who are the two?
02:39There's a boy and a girl, and they're carrying a bucket.
02:44Oh, are they window cleaners?
02:46Oh, no, Ben. They're from a nursery rhyme.
02:50And in the nursery rhyme, their bucket is called a pail, and they have to fetch a pail of water.
02:55Oh, I know. It's Jack and Jill. Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
03:04Jack fell down and broke his crown, and Jill came tumbling after. I think it's time to look in my book.
03:10We need a story to help us cook. Let's take a look in Little Cook's book.
03:27Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World. Let me see.
03:31One day I was out on a country walk when who should I meet but Jack and Jill.
03:39What's up? I asked.
03:42Every day we have to climb this hill to fetch a pail of water from the well, explained Jack.
03:49Yes, and it's very slippery, moaned Jill.
03:52And we fall over a lot and slide down to the bottom and have to climb the hill all over again.
04:00It's not just us. All our friends have to fetch water from the well and they all fall down too.
04:07Then I had an idea and asked Jack and Jill to bring all their friends with their buckets to meet me at the bottom of the hill the next morning.
04:15I said to the children, I'm going to show you how to make a human chain.
04:22I showed them how to get into a long line from the bottom of the hill to the top.
04:27Then I got them to pass the empty buckets up the hill one by one.
04:31Jack and Jill were by the well at the top.
04:34As the buckets arrived, they filled them with water and then the children passed the full buckets carefully down to the bottom of the hill.
04:41They soon filled all the buckets and the children came down to join me.
04:48If you fill the buckets this way, I told them, nobody has to climb the hill more than once.
04:55Jack and Jill and all their friends were so happy.
04:58They all had full buckets and they weren't at all tired.
05:01So now they could all go and play. Hooray!
05:05Little Cook to the rescue once again!
05:08That was a great adventure!
05:14Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
05:20Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after.
05:25Ho ho ho ho ho!
05:28What a clever idea, Little Cook!
05:30That hill looks so hard to climb.
05:32No wonder Jack and Jill and all their friends were so happy you came to help.
05:36Well now we can make them even happier!
05:39Let's cook them something delicious!
05:41But how can we think of what to cook for them?
05:43I know Big Cook's Big Cookery book!
05:56Of course, the Big Cookery book!
05:58There's recipes for everything in there!
06:00And where do we look for things to cook?
06:03In the book! In the book! In Big Cook's book!
06:07Oh yes, here we go!
06:08Citrus Punch!
06:09A lovely fruity drink!
06:11And in this picture, it's served in a bucket!
06:14Just the job for Jack and Jill!
06:16Let's get to work, Ben!
06:18Okay then Little Cook, you read out the ingredients and I'll see if we've got them!
06:22Okay, let's see! We're going to need lemons!
06:25Okay, in the fruit bowl, lemons!
06:28Got those small!
06:30Limes! Here we go!
06:32Green limes, yep!
06:34Oranges! Ho ho! Very fruity!
06:35We've got the oranges small!
06:36Spring water!
06:37Here we go! Spring water!
06:40Yep! Ice cubes!
06:42Oh, that's in the freezer! Ice cubes!
06:45Lovely cold ice cubes!
06:49And honey!
06:51Oh, honey! In the cupboard! There we go!
06:54Got that too!
06:56And here we are!
06:58Everything we need for the recipe!
07:01Small, what's so special about spring water?
07:04I don't know!
07:06And I've always wondered why it's actually called spring water!
07:09Funny name, isn't it?
07:10It is!
07:12I'll tell you what, why don't you whizz off and find out and I'll get everything ready!
07:15Hey! That's a great idea! See you later! Ho ho ho!
07:20Hey! Why don't you come along too?
07:22Wee-hey!
07:24Whee-hey!
07:28Go Small! Go Small! Go Small! Whizz away!
07:31I wonder what he'll see today!
07:32what he'll see today.
07:44This looks like the right place.
07:46When the rain falls from the clouds onto the ground, the earth soaks up the water.
07:51The water has nowhere else to go, so it bubbles up and out of the ground.
07:56This is called a spring, and the water is called spring water.
08:00The spring water is collected here, and put into bottles.
08:06Lots and lots of bottles!
08:08First, the bottles have to be washed.
08:13Now the bottles are filled up with the lovely pure spring water.
08:18Fill them up to the top!
08:21Bottles of spring water, but what's missing?
08:25Hey hey!
08:27The bottle tops!
08:29In they go!
08:34All packed and ready to go to the shops.
08:38Phew!
08:39It's thirsty work playing in the garden, so these girls need a drink of water.
08:44Delicious!
08:46That was really interesting!
08:47Bye!
08:48There wasn't much to prepare for this citrus punch recipe, so while Small's been away,
09:01I've made him this little card.
09:03It didn't seem right that I got all the post and cards this morning.
09:08So now when he gets back, he'll get some surprise mail too!
09:12I'm back!
09:13But it's a secret, remember?
09:14Shh!
09:15I found out everything you need to know about spring water, Ben!
09:19Rain falls onto the ground and is soaked up by the earth.
09:23Then the water has nowhere to go, so it finds its way back up to the surface, and that's
09:28called spring water!
09:30Oh!
09:31Right!
09:32Now I see!
09:33Spring water!
09:34Ho ho!
09:35Come on then, Small!
09:36We'd better get started!
09:37But you haven't opened your letter yet, Ben!
09:39Oh yes!
09:40Sorry!
09:41I almost forgot!
09:42I've been a bit busy!
09:43Ho ho ho!
09:44Right!
09:45Let's see!
09:46Ooh!
09:47It's a postcard!
09:48It says, Thinking of you, from my friend Patricia.
09:52We were at school together, and now she lives in Australia.
09:55Oh, isn't that nice!
09:56We often write to each other.
09:58You write to so many different people, don't you, Ben?
10:01Oh, well, as I say, I love to write letters to people telling them all my news.
10:05Ho ho ho!
10:06I've decided I'm going to write to someone, but it's a secret!
10:10Whoosh!
10:11Come on then, Small!
10:12We'd better get going!
10:13We've got two very thirsty customers in the cafe!
10:16You're right, Ben!
10:17Let's get going!
10:18We're all ready, so take a look!
10:20And we will show you how to cook!
10:27Jelly boats and pirates go, princess pea pies, parent cakes and fruity smiles, and envelope
10:33No surprise!
10:34We love our cafe, and we love to cook!
10:37We have a fantastic recipe book!
10:40He is big cook, and he is small!
10:46Friends in our cafe, we cook for them all!
10:50When your tummy gets all rumbly, you're ready for a treat!
10:53You can make something delicious to eat!
10:57You can make something delicious to eat!
11:04Have you cleaned the surfaces?
11:08Yes!
11:09Have you washed your hands?
11:10Yes!
11:11All clean and ready to cook!
11:14Look!
11:15Do you remember the ingredients to citrus punch?
11:17You do!
11:18There were lemons...
11:20Three, two and half, one in slices...
11:23Limes...
11:24Two, one in half, one in slices...
11:26Oranges...
11:27Two, one in half, one in slices...
11:29Spring water...
11:30Six hundred millilitres...
11:32Ice cubes...
11:33Two handfuls...
11:34And honey...
11:35Four teaspoons...
11:37Whoopee!
11:38Let's get started!
11:40While small was away, I cut two lemons...
11:43One lime...
11:44And one orange in half...
11:46Like this...
11:47That's definitely a job for your grown-up helper...
11:50Because the knife will need to be sharp!
11:52Then, we can squeeze the juice out...
11:55Using a juice squeezer...
11:57Like this...
11:59All nice and tight...
12:03And then...
12:06The lime...
12:07Give it a good old squeeze...
12:11To get all the juice out...
12:13There we are...
12:16And then the orange...
12:18Oh!
12:19There's a lot here...
12:21Oh!
12:22Yes!
12:23There we go...
12:26And then...
12:28We can pour the juice...
12:31Into a nice clean bucket...
12:33A bit like Jack and Jill's pail!
12:36Ben!
12:37Do you need me for a while?
12:40It's just that I've got something very important to do!
12:44Oh no small!
12:45This recipe's nice and simple!
12:47So...
12:48I'm okay on my own!
12:49Off you go!
12:50Won't be long!
12:53What's he up to I wonder?
12:56Anyway...
12:57I was saying about this bucket...
12:59Now this bucket is brand new...
13:00And I've washed it out!
13:02So if you're gonna use a bucket...
13:03Make sure it's really clean!
13:05If you haven't got a bucket...
13:06A jug would do fine!
13:08So now...
13:09I've juiced all the fruit...
13:11Into the bucket...
13:12And I'm gonna add...
13:13The honey...
13:14So...
13:15I'll pour some in...
13:17Like that...
13:20And then...
13:24Give it a good ol' stir...
13:26Hee hee!
13:27You know I said I was going to write to someone?
13:30I'm making a card for them!
13:32My best friend!
13:33Look!
13:34I've drawn a picture of us!
13:37There's me...
13:38And there's him!
13:40Hoo hoo!
13:41Can you guess who it is?
13:43He's going to be so surprised!
13:45Shhh!
13:46I'll just go and hide it!
13:49I've cut the lemon...
13:51Lime...
13:52And oranges...
13:53Into slices like this...
13:55And now it's time to put everything together!
13:58So...
13:59In goes the ice with the fruit juice...
14:02Then...
14:04We can pour in the spring water...
14:07There we are...
14:13And give everything a good stir around!
14:16Hello Ben!
14:19Can I do anything?
14:20Oh yes!
14:21Thank you Small!
14:22I'm gonna give you...
14:24A slice of lemon...
14:26Lime...
14:27And...
14:28Orange...
14:29And I'd like you to make a cut...
14:31In each of the fruit...
14:33From the middle...
14:34To the edge!
14:35There you go!
14:37OK Ben!
14:39Pop some of the fruit slices into the bucket...
14:45To add a little more flavour!
14:48There we go!
14:52And then...
14:53Using a ladle...
14:54We can pour...
14:55The citrus punch...
14:56Into the glasses!
14:57The slices are ready now Ben!
14:58What are they for?
14:59Oh ho!
15:00Thanks Small!
15:01You'll soon see!
15:02These are for the decoration!
15:03We pop the fruit slices...
15:04Around the edge of the glasses...
15:05Like this...
15:06To make the glasses look a bit more jazzy!
15:07What a fantastic drink!
15:09If you're wondering what citrus means...
15:10It's a word used for all the fruits we've used...
15:11Lemons...
15:12Limes...
15:13And oranges!
15:14He he he he!
15:15And here's the finishing touch...
15:16Some coloured straws for the glasses...
15:17We pop the fruit slices...
15:18Around the edge of the glasses...
15:19Like this...
15:21To make the glasses look a bit more jazzy!
15:24What a fantastic drink!
15:25If you're wondering what citrus means...
15:26It's a word used for all the fruits we've used...
15:27Lemons...
15:28Limes...
15:29And oranges!
15:30He he he!
15:31And here's the finishing touch...

17:02Aha! Here comes the plate. Ho ho! Yes, Small. It looks like Jack and Jill enjoyed their citrus
17:09punch. Look, they've left a note. Well, what does it say? What does it say? Ho ho ho! Let's
17:15see, shall we? It says, dear Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small. Thank you so much for
17:22the citrus punch. We really loved it. Woo hoo! And Small, your brilliant way of fetching the
