00:08:35Get it off.
00:08:43Ben!
00:08:57All right.
00:08:58This is the bail.
00:08:59Take it off.
00:09:01You heard me. Take it off.
00:09:05Blanche, you're just not Greek material.
00:09:09You're through.
00:09:10There's something wrong with Ginny and me.
00:09:24You're a friend. What does she say?
00:09:28Well, sometimes I think you are a bit hard on her.
00:09:33Say for Robert, he's such a damn smug.
00:09:36Now, they have been best friends all of their lives.
00:09:40You know, he wants more than friendship.
00:09:42He knows that and I know it.
00:09:52You know, I love Ginny.
00:09:53I know that, Marshall.
00:09:56It's just that...
00:09:59Well, sometimes you got a funny way of showing it.
00:10:03You know, I really would love to see Michael again.
00:10:06Me too.
00:10:08But he's sleeping under the stars right now.
00:10:10High on a mountaintop.
00:10:12Well, actually, according to his letter, he's really not that far away.
00:10:16You two through talking or do I need to make a reservation?
00:10:18Wait.
00:10:19What's with you two?
00:10:20Hey, come on, Marshall. Let's dance.
00:10:21Are you still talking about that other idiot, Michael?
00:10:23He's not an idiot.
00:10:25You know, you're really beginning to talk to Michael again.
00:10:27I know you're going to talk to Michael again.
00:10:28But he's sleeping under the stars right now.
00:10:29High on a mountaintop.
00:10:30Well, actually, according to his letter, he's really not that far away.
00:10:33You two through talking or do I need to make a reservation?
00:10:34Wait.
00:10:36What's with you two?
00:10:39Hey, come on, Marshall. Let's dance.
00:10:42Are you still talking about that other idiot, Michael?
00:10:44No.
00:10:46He's not an idiot.
00:10:48You know, you're really beginning to piss me off.
00:10:51You're so damn insensitive.
00:10:53You can really be a bitch sometimes, you know it?
00:10:55Come on, Marshall.
00:10:57Talk about insensitivity.
00:11:00Marshall, you're so damn narrow.
00:11:02All you can do is relate things back to yourself.
00:11:05Okay, that does it. Both of you, get the hell out of my house.
00:11:09Hey, why don't you go up to the mountain and play with a candy-ass friend?
00:11:11Oh, come on. It's okay. He really doesn't in the evening.
00:11:15No, it's not such a bad idea after all.
00:11:18I think it's a great idea.
00:11:22Okay.
00:11:24All right. Everybody, come on. Let's go.
00:11:27Let's get going.
00:11:29I'll get on the backpacks. You guys get on the backpacks.
00:11:31Great. Terrific.
00:11:41All right, sir. I'm tired.
00:11:42Me, too.
00:12:02Oh, I sure am tired.
00:12:04Me, too.
00:12:05I'm tired.
00:12:12Maybe we should wait till morning.
00:12:16Nope.
00:12:18Keep on driving.
00:12:36Keep on driving.
00:12:56Tom!
00:12:59Right on.
00:13:05So fun!
00:13:20Hey, what are you thinking about?
00:13:22Oh, no, it's Marshall!
00:13:31Why are you trying to do that?
00:13:33God, you trying to kill us?
00:13:36I'm just trying to have some fun.
00:13:39Oh, great fun.
00:13:41Jenny, the joke's over.
00:13:43Come on.
00:13:45No.
00:13:47Jenny, I'm sorry.
00:13:49If I scared you, I'm really sorry.
00:13:55What do you mean, no? Come on!
00:13:57I'll take care of him.
00:13:59You're what?
00:14:01Butt out, huh?
00:14:02I mean, just get in your car
00:14:04and please, get the hell out of here.
00:14:07Easy, Marshal.
00:14:08You better go.
00:14:11I'll wait.
00:14:14Come on.
00:14:15I'm without Jenny.
00:14:17You know, all you want to do
00:14:18is get up there and get in her pants.
00:14:22Marshal?
00:14:26It's over.
00:14:27It's a funny game to blame yourself
00:14:55For being cruel to someone else
00:14:59Play judge and play jury
00:15:02Self-righteous with fury
00:15:07When you're the only one
00:15:08When you're the only one
00:15:21Who's listening
00:15:24I'm ready
00:15:26I'm ready
00:15:28I'm ready
00:15:29Oh, I'm ready
00:15:38Yes, I'm ready
00:15:46But where do I remain
00:15:54It's a funny game
00:15:59To be afraid
00:16:00Of failing at the plans you've made
00:16:05To wake in the morning
00:16:08Full of worry
00:16:11And wanting to take care of yourself
00:16:17And wanting to take care of yourself
00:16:18When all you really do
00:16:27Is for yourself
00:16:31Is for yourself
00:16:31I'm ready
00:16:34Oh, my God.
00:17:04Robert, are you sure we didn't pass the turn?
00:17:11Very sure.
00:17:27I knew we should have turned up here.
00:17:29You're right, Robert.
00:17:31I should have said something.
00:17:34I should have said something.
00:18:04I should have said something.
00:18:05Would you stand in line for us to take a ride on that first atomic-powered rocket ship at 50?
00:18:26You wouldn't stand in line to take a ride on a magic carpet through Shangri-La on a pass.
00:18:32In fact, the only thing you'd stand in line for is a place to sit down.
00:18:36And at 21, a girl smiled at you and gave you that knowing look.
00:18:40You'd wander on to the next weighing machine mirror to see why you were so handsome.
00:18:46At 50, you'd look to see who's behind you or what's unbuttoned.
00:18:50You've been such a splendid audience. I think I'll do the Quiflu song for you.
00:18:56We are poor little lambs who have lost our way.
00:19:11Come in, come in, come in.
00:19:15Do it with my life, I'll back.
00:19:17Come in, please.
00:19:19Baba.
00:19:26Gentlemen, sun stairs, path on a street,
00:19:32Doomed from here to eternity.
00:19:38God have mercy on such as me.
00:19:45Baba.
00:19:53I've heard that song before.
00:19:55Yes, it's become a sort of classic.
00:19:57It's one of the thousands I introduced over the airways
00:19:59in the days of big time radio.
00:20:01See, radio brought me to fame and fortune.
00:20:03I was one of the first to show the great power of radio,
00:20:06and the networks really great and famous and possible.
00:20:08But today they've forgotten.
00:20:09You go through all the television studios out there,
00:20:12particularly in Burbank,
00:20:13and the hallways, the pictures of all the young television stars,
00:20:15but no pictures of Amos and Andy,
00:20:17and those of us who made radio truly great.
00:20:20A bit disillusioning, but after 20 years of radio
00:20:23and 20 years of show business,
00:20:25I decided to come up here and get away from it all.
00:20:27It's kind of a real good stuff.
00:20:30I in Grosable.
00:20:31Now what can I do for you?
00:20:32Well, we're looking for a friend.
00:20:33A friend?
00:20:34Come on here.
00:20:35I've something for you.
00:20:36Come this way.
00:20:39I've a real treat for you.
00:20:40A really delicious treat.
00:20:48How far have you traveled?
00:20:50Oh, about 150 miles.
00:20:51150 miles.
00:20:55In that thing?
00:20:57Amazing, incredulous.
00:20:58But you must try this candy.
00:21:00They're called licorice nips.
00:21:02They're made in Culver City, California.
00:21:04The most delicious hard licorice candy you've ever tasted.
00:21:06Now, let them melt in your mouth.
00:21:09Just don't crush them.
00:21:10Just let them melt gently in your mouth.
00:21:13What are you doing here?
00:21:15Where are you going?
00:21:18With this mailed from here,
00:21:20Yes, that's my postmark.
00:21:23Who mailed it?
00:21:25Michael Sutherland.
00:21:26He's about 21.
00:21:29Blonde.
00:21:30Do you remember him?
00:21:32Yes, I know Sutherland.
00:21:34I haven't seen him in some time.
00:21:35I believe he lives at Navarro Ridge, right?
00:21:38Yes.
00:21:39Do you know how we could find him?
00:21:40No, I haven't been to his place, and I have no desire to.
00:21:43It's much too dangerous and too far to travel.
00:21:45Especially for someone who's not a native of these parts.
00:21:47A lot of strange things have happened here in this wilderness.
00:21:51Well, we'll only be up there for a couple of days.
00:21:54I think we'll make it.
00:21:55Make it.
00:21:57Impetuous youth.
00:21:58You always can make it.
00:22:00Just a moment.
00:22:01May I suggest you take this knife?
00:22:07About Michael.
00:22:09Well, I said I've never been there.
00:22:10More candy?
00:22:12Oh, no, thank you.
00:22:13Might you point us in the direction of Navarro Ridge?
00:22:16I told you it's very, very hazardous.
00:22:19Now, I'm going to insist you take this knife with you for your protection.
00:22:22A lot of young persons have left these parts and never been seen again.
00:22:26This is a real bargain.
00:22:27$40.95.
00:22:28He's in place.
00:22:29$40.95.
00:22:30Well, I think Michael might have the necessities for our trip.
00:22:34Besides, I don't hunt.
00:22:36Yes, but suppose you're the one who's being hunted.
00:22:40Yes, sir.
00:22:45How do we get to that ridge?
00:22:47You're impossible.
00:22:49You can't do by trail alone.
00:22:51You go across the road, get on the trail.
00:22:53At the end of the trail, you're at the bottom of Navarro Ridge.
00:22:57I liked your song.
00:23:01Now, you take good care of her.
00:23:04You take good care of her.
00:23:10And don't say that I didn't warn you.
00:23:17Maybe we should have walked the knife.
00:23:19Not all that old man.
00:23:20He tried to sell ice to an escobot.
00:23:21Oh, blackberry.
00:23:24Oh, you know, Michael's so right about all this out there.
00:23:27And the daisies are so beautiful.
00:23:29I think I'm going to pick a couple.
00:23:30Hey, Jenny.
00:23:31Jenny, now that's poison oak.
00:23:33Here, have another berry.
00:23:36Oh!
00:23:53Bye.
00:23:54Bye.
00:23:54Bye.
00:23:57Bye.
00:23:59Bye.
00:24:05Bye.
00:24:06Bye.
00:25:07How long do you think it'll take before we get there?
00:25:18Oh, I don't know. I don't even know where there is.
00:25:23Not really.
00:25:24I'm going to take these things off.
00:25:34My feet are killing me.
00:25:41Relief.
00:25:45Would you like something?
00:25:48Scotch and water.
00:25:50How about a warm beer instead?
00:25:58Perfect.
00:25:58How are you feeling?
00:26:08Great.
00:26:18Oh, holy smokes.
00:26:21Oh.
00:26:25Well, looks like we have to go back now.
00:26:27Good.
00:26:28Come on.
00:26:29You're bananas if you think I'm going up that cliff.
00:26:31Well, we have to get up there before dark.
00:26:35I'll see you.
00:26:36No, Robert.
00:26:37I'll see you later.
00:26:37I'll see you later.
00:26:37I'll see you later.
00:26:37I'll see you later.
00:26:37I'll see you later.
00:26:38I'll see you later.
00:26:38I'll see you later.
00:26:39I'll see you later.
00:26:39I'll see you later.
00:26:39I'll see you later.
00:26:40I'll see you later.
00:27:40And when you catch your coat in the door, think of a dog on the new Explorer.
00:27:48Oh, animals are clumsy, too.
00:27:53There ain't no valley down at the zoo.
00:27:57Before you let your feet make you feel like a fool, remember animals are clumsy, too.
00:28:04Next time you hit your head and roll with pain, think of a turkey drowning in the rain.

00:59:17Don't worry.
00:59:21Tell her I love her.
00:59:22Hi, Jenny.
00:59:39It's good to see you.
00:59:40I just saw Robert.
00:59:50You guys are really something.
00:59:53Come all the way up here just to see me.
01:00:05Well.
01:00:05Hey, how'd you like some tea, huh?
01:00:12Yeah, that's good.
01:00:15Some nice piping hot
01:00:18herbal tea.
01:00:22Let's see.
01:00:22What'd you like?
01:00:27¿Yerba buena?
01:00:29No.
01:00:30Let's see.
01:00:31Rose hips.
01:00:33No.
01:00:34Um...
01:00:35Comfrey.
01:00:38Hey, anything you want.
01:00:39I've been gathering it all afternoon.
01:00:46Oh.
01:00:47Amazing Mother Nature.
01:00:50I must have walked some 40 miles today
01:00:52to get that comfrey.
01:00:54I've got poison hook all over my legs.
01:00:57It's like crazy.
01:00:59I'll tell you, it's enough to drive you crazy.
01:01:01Hey.
01:01:05Hey.
01:01:07I know the best tea for you.
01:01:13Penny Royale.
01:01:15Hmm?
01:01:16Yeah, that's the one.
01:01:19Wakes you up and gets you going.
01:01:20Come on.
01:01:25How about it, Jenny?
01:01:26Oh, damn.
01:01:50Nothing worse than an itch you can't scratch.
01:01:55The more you scratch it, the worse it gets.
01:01:58And if you try to forget about it, the itch just makes you climb the wall.
01:02:05You know what I mean?
01:02:06I guess you just got to think about something else.
01:02:17You know, that's true with just about anything.
01:02:21You have to let go of the itch and forget about the scratching.
01:02:25You have to think about the good things and drive that devil out of your house.
01:02:49He's gone now, Jenny.
01:02:50What's done can't be undone, but hell.
01:03:01All it really comes down to is carrying on.
01:03:05That's all that really matters.
01:03:07We've got to carry on.
01:03:14That's it.
01:03:15That's it.
01:03:17Come on now, drive that devil out.
01:03:18I just can't tell you how ugly and empty I feel so sorry.
01:03:45Let it go.
01:03:47Let it go.
01:03:48Let it go.
01:03:56I'm sorry.
01:04:02I should be all together.
01:04:05Jenny, who understands.
01:04:17Maybe it's fate.
01:04:19Listen, maybe you'll find some truth in it.
01:04:22I know that must sound like bullshit, but I wouldn't know how else to deal with it.
01:04:27How else to justify it.
01:04:28Do you know what I mean?
01:04:50Come on, let's see if you can sleep.
01:04:53Sleep.
01:04:53Come on.
01:04:54Sleep.
01:04:55Sleep.

01:13:04He won't be back.
01:13:05Oh, what a waste.
01:13:14I'm such a fool.
01:13:23I wasn't even worthy.
01:13:25I'm so sorry for a half of you.
01:13:27I'm so sorry for a death.
01:13:29I'm so sorry for a while.
01:13:34I'm so sorry for a while.
01:13:35Oh, my God!
01:13:36Oh!
01:13:38Oh!
01:13:39Oh!
01:13:41Oh!
01:13:42Oh!
01:13:43Oh!
01:13:44Oh!
01:13:45Oh!
01:13:46Oh!
01:13:48Oh!
01:13:49Oh!
01:13:50Oh, man!
01:13:51I used to complain about the pain
01:14:11Of seeing things come round again
01:14:19And playing the same old funny games
01:14:29And asking myself, where do I begin?
01:14:40Now after all, it's plain to see
01:14:47The last one to ask for a change was me
01:14:57Cause I was the one who was making the rules
01:15:07And getting caught in your own game
01:15:11Is a game for fools
01:15:17You're a fool to be a puppet
01:15:23Even on your own strings
01:15:27Don't you know you're cheating yourself
01:15:30Tying yourself in knots
01:15:35Cut the strings
01:15:37And you've got the child that find you
01:15:42And he will find you
01:15:46Will find yourself
01:15:49And you're a fool to be a puppet
01:15:57And you're a fool to be a puppet
01:15:59And you're a fool to be a puppet
01:16:01So that I'm going to be a puppet
01:16:51Your pain is the breaking of the shill that encloses your understanding.
01:17:09Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun.
01:17:15So must you know pain.
01:17:21And in the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures.
01:17:34For in the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
01:17:44What do I need to start again?
01:17:53Now that the story is over and done.
01:18:00Just life as it is, and the hand of a friend.
01:18:11All I need is you and the sun.
01:18:22You're a fool to be a puppet, even on your own strings.
01:18:30Don't you know you're cheating yourself, tying yourself in knots.
01:18:38Cut the strings, and you cut the ties that bind you.
01:18:46And you will find you, will find yourself.
01:18:52You're a fool to be a Hampshire.
01:18:58You're a fool to be a slave-프右se.
