00:14the sex scenes you know we rehearsed them so heavily and we knew what we were going to do
00:18going in that they're also a lot of fun you know yeah it's a dance yeah I totally agree with that
00:25the hockey stuff is not easy I mean and yeah it's it's it's it's hard to believe yourself as a
00:32like an NHL player you know like the top of your craft I mean those people they work their entire
00:38lives for that so getting on those skates being next to these guys who have been doing this for
00:41like 20 years you're like like I'm okay you know it's very physically demanding it's also kind of
00:48like being on the ice for so long it's almost like nauseating like with the I don't know just
00:53the lights it's cold it's so not easy you've seen Shane just really kind of putting his heart on
01:00his sleeve but now we're starting to see Ilya kind of give in a little bit but then on top of that
01:05we're seeing Shane pull away so can you tell me like that kind of emotional tug of war and how you
01:10guys brought that to the screen I think we just kind of know these characters really well and then
01:15it's easy to kind of take that base and plug and play it I always look at Ilya as his own thing and
01:21then and then I think if I'm really solid on that then it naturally will provide whatever needs to
01:27be happening in the in the plot in the story and then we have someone like Jacob who knows the story
01:31like the back of his hand and is willing to be like no I think at this point we need a little more
01:36this we need a little less that you know up this down that knowing Shane it felt like of course he's
01:42he's running this is almost like when you go to pick up like something you think is heavy and then it
01:47goes light it's almost like that sort of that joint moment where it's like oh my god he's he is
01:52like it looks like you know boyfriends it looks like a partner it it and it hasn't up to this point
01:59and that's sort of terrifying and the first name you know it's it's a lot of things that are just sort
02:04of scaring him in that moment that it's it's hard just to take that right there's so many new right
02:10there's so many new things that you can't kind of help but feel altered or different and I love the
02:15addition of Rose in this episode what was it like bringing her into the fold because it's kind of
02:20like giving Travis and Taylor right right yeah someone's yeah it said Travis yeah I'm not too familiar
02:25with them so I can't speak to that um but working with Sophie it was fantastic and the Rose character
02:32is also very interesting because you know obviously Shane is in love with Ilya but Rose does offer
02:40sort of sort of like I don't know like her character in a way adds pressure to you know who
02:48he's meant to be or what he thinks he should look like but then again she's a confidant and she's
02:52someone who's open and you know accepting and makes him feel really safe um and up to that point it was
03:00really only Ilya who could provide that and it wasn't always his emotions weren't always handled and
03:07handled with care um so it's another connection yes another true connection and just being able to
03:14like step out in public and have like paparazzi take pictures of them and yeah I think that's the
03:18sort of tragic element for Shane is because he's able to do this with someone who you know I he doesn't
03:25feel truthful that that this person he's in love with in that same way um but it's being celebrated in
03:30a way that he feels they never would be yeah and I feel like anytime there's you know a big queer
03:37project like this you know this it seems inevitable people are going to be like speculating of course
03:43it's the nature of celebrity as well too and just like accusing you of gay baiting or something so how
03:48does it feel having to separate your personal from the professional yeah I think there's never a
03:55question for me when I would dream of you know becoming uh you know in the the public eye that
04:01I would want just a level of privacy uh but of course you know I I agree I want you know queer
04:08people telling queer stories um but also you know like also there's the element of Connor and I having
04:14you know we're best friends and we love expressing that physically and then you know you you see people
04:20who infer or assume and you kind of have to let that go but then again I never want to stop
04:25expressing my the love I have for Connor physically um and I'm never really going to um and I think
04:32multiple things can be true at once we want queer people telling queer stories there's an element of
04:36also you can't ask that in an audition room um but I think what Jacob said really sums it up the best
04:41which is like you have to gauge how enthusiastic they are about this story and they could have paid
04:47me ten dollars and just fed me yeah and I'm doing I'm doing the story I really thought I was going
04:51to get like nothing for this and I just loved the story so much and I want to be a part of that
04:57and Connor as well I'm sure feels the same so I I think that's the only thing you can gauge
05:02the person totally yeah I think there's so much energy that is coming at us with um with the rise of
05:10this show and for me at least I think it's important for me to have a little bit of separation
05:15from the character in the show and um all I can really say is that I love Ilya I love the community
05:21that you know this is a part of and that this caters to I think that's so much more interesting
05:26and valuable than doing just another run-of-the-mill um straight story um you know who I date who I
05:33sleep with who this that whatever like I'm gonna I'm gonna keep that to myself but regardless I think
05:38this is super important and I think it's also on top of that is just really cool you know
