A housewife and an unemployed man pleaded not guilty at the Johor Baru Sessions Court on Friday (Jan 2) to attempting to murder the woman’s husband.

The accused, 46-year-old mother of two N. Egavalli and 39-year-old R. Kamala Sarna, allegedly tried to kill Egavalli’s husband, 48-year-old G. Kumaresan, by suffocating him with a pillow at a house in Taman Ehsan on Dec 22.

00:35They were charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of
00:4010 years in prison and a fine upon conviction.
00:44The court set February 3 for the next mention and granted bail of 20,000 ringgit each.
00:50Both accused were also ordered to surrender their Malaysian passports, report monthly to
00:54the nearest police station and refrain from contacting the victim until the case is concluded.
