00:00To one disruptive nation, to another.
00:02This is Bangladesh that we're speaking of.
00:04No end to the Hindu hate in Bangladesh as we speak.
00:07Fresh questions, however, arising now
00:09over the safety of Hindus as more attacks continue to come to light.
00:13The latest chilling case has sent shockwaves across Bangladesh.
00:16In Sharitpur, a Hindu man was brutally attacked by a mob.
00:20The victim was even set on fire.
00:21Khokon Chandradas, who's a 40-year-old businessman,
00:24was returning home when he was ambushed.
00:26He was stabbed with sharp weapons,
00:28doused with patrol and set ablaze.
00:30In a desperate attempt to save his life,
00:32Khokon jumped into a nearby pond
00:34and locals, in fact, rushed to rescue him then.
00:36He was shifted to the hospital and remains critically injured.
00:39Police say an investigation is also underway on the same.
00:42However, the attack has exposed a disturbing pattern
00:45which we've been following now.
00:47Days earlier, it was Amrit Mondal who was beaten to death in Rajwari
00:50and before that, it was Deepu Chandradas
00:52who was lynched by a mob in Myman Singh
00:54and then, again, set ablaze as well.
00:56Deepening concerns that we see
00:58over the minority safety in Bangladesh.
01:01Let me quickly bring in Pranay into the conversation here.
01:23Pranay, this is the situation.
01:25There's a pattern, as we are also flagging,
01:27of atrocities against minorities,
01:30specifically against the Hindu community members in Bangladesh.
01:33Now, the situation has been worsening.
01:36While earlier there were speculations over
01:38whether the disruptions were to, in fact,
01:40disrupt the upcoming elections in the very country,
01:43but nothing at this given point
01:45justifies the atrocities against the Hindu members there.
01:49Where does it stop at this point?
01:52That remains a bigger question, Shreya,
01:54that where will it stop and how will it stop?
01:57Because there is a fresh wave of violence
01:59against the minorities in Bangladesh
02:01and in last 10 days, this is the third incident
02:04which is being reported.
02:05As far as the details of the case is concerned,
02:08the asylian tried to kill the Hindu businessman,
02:11Kokon Chandradas,
02:12while he was returning from his medical shop.
02:16And he was not only stabbed in abdomen,
02:19he was doused with patrol and then set to fire
02:21to save his life.
02:22He jumped into a pond
02:23and that's how he could save his life.
02:26He was so critically injured
02:27that later he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College
02:30and he's receiving treatment in Dhaka Medical College.
02:33This is a 50-year-old Hindu businessman.
02:35He was attacked by the attackers
02:38and Bangladesh police have identified
02:41like two individuals for this attack.
02:45But what exactly is the deterrent action,
02:48you know, to stop further attacks on Hindu minorities?
02:51Because in cases like Deepu Chandradas' case
02:54or Amir Tundal's case
02:55or Kokon Chandradas' case
02:57and many other cases
02:58which have not been reported or got highlighted,
03:00but we have seen in the last one and a half years
03:03that there has been 2,900 cases of, you know,
03:07attacks or, you know, the targeted killing
03:10or the land grab
03:11or, you know, or atrocities against Hindu minorities
03:15or Buddhist minorities, Christian minorities.
03:18So definitely this is for the people of,
03:20this is for the government of Bangladesh
03:21to answer the interim administration.
03:24And in fact, they are failing on people of Bangladesh
03:26to address the issue of law and order.
03:30Right, Rana, that is the situation
03:32that we are seeing at this given point in Bangladesh
03:34and that remains to be a big question.
03:37It's a matter of concern
03:38that we are in fact flagging here
03:39with regards to these atrocities we see against Hindus.
03:43In fact, viewers,
03:44we'll take you through some more details
03:45of what are we looking at
03:47when we say that Hindus are unsafe in Bangladesh.
03:50Here are statistics that we are bringing to you
03:51in terms, data that we are bringing to you
03:54in terms of the years and population share
03:57in the very country at this given point.
03:59So this is a brief of the data.
04:02Firstly, if we look at the year 1974,
04:06Muslims, 85.4%,
04:09while Hindus were at 13.5%
04:12and then others somewhere around 1.1%.
04:15Moving on to 1981,
04:17if we are to speak of 86.7% Muslims,
04:2112.1% Hindus
04:24and other population we see
04:25somewhere around 1.2%
04:27at this given point.
04:29Again, 10 years later,
04:30almost 10 years later,
04:311991 that we see
04:3288.3% of Muslims
04:35and if we speak of Hindus,
04:36there's 10.5%
04:38and others again 1.2%
04:40that remains unchanged.
04:412001, again Muslim population
04:43goes up to 89.6%.
04:45So there's been a steady rise
04:47in the Muslim population
04:48while there's been a dip
04:49in the Hindu population.
04:51So Hindu population
04:51then comes down to 9.3%
04:54while others still around
04:56the same figure of 1.1%.
04:58And then 2011,
04:5910 years later,
05:00if we look at 90.4% Muslims,
05:03then again Hindus
05:04still dipping down to 8.5%
05:07and others remain at 1.1%.
05:102022,
05:11that is just three years ago,
05:13Muslim population go up
05:14again by one more percent.
05:16So it's 91.1%
05:17at this given time
05:18while Hindus have come down
05:19to 8%
05:20and others remain
05:22at 0.9%.
05:23So this is the demography
05:25if we speak of
05:26in Bangladesh
05:27over the particular years.
05:29Now,
05:30there's a rising extremism
05:31we are witnessing
05:32in Bangladesh
05:33at this given point
05:34as we speak.
05:35What is that?
05:36And how are we
05:37in fact speaking about it?
05:39Here are certain
05:40matters that we've flagged.
05:42It's a proof of sorts
05:43that we have in fact
05:44pieced together.
05:44Number one being
05:45the radical and vocal
05:46India critic Hadi
05:48who was declared Shaheed.
05:51Proof number two
05:52is the public display
05:54of ISIS flags
05:56in Bangladesh.
05:57Again,
05:58a major matter of concern.
06:00Proof number three
06:01would be
06:02jihadi slogans
06:04that were raised
06:04at the very funeral.
06:06Again,
06:06these are incidents
06:08that have taken place
06:09just a little while back,
06:10just in a matter
06:11of a month's time
06:12if we are to look at.
06:13Proof number four
06:13would be
06:14Jamaat-e-Islami
06:15linked groups
06:17operating from
06:18within Bangladesh.
06:19That is another
06:20major concern.
06:21All of it,
06:22remember,
06:22has been flagged
06:23by India itself.
06:25And proof number five,
06:26of course,
06:27remains to be
06:27the series of attacks
06:29against Hindu members
06:30and other minority groups
06:32as well
06:32whose population,
06:34as we can see,
06:34as we just showed you,
06:35the data has been
06:36dwindling over the years.
06:37So this is
06:38the current situation
06:39of Bangladesh
06:40as we speak.
06:41the population demography
06:43that we showed you
06:44and post that,
06:45what exactly seems
06:46to be the situation
06:47which suggests
06:48a pattern
06:48of extremism
06:50developing
06:50in our neighboring country.
06:52Now,
06:52as we speak of Bangladesh,
06:54there's another story
06:54that's also developing
06:55in terms of
06:56the world of sports,
06:58but within our country.
06:59This is cricket
07:00and nationalism
07:01having collided
07:02once again.
07:02How so?
07:03Well,
07:03Shah Rukh Khan
07:03and his IPL franchisee,
07:05Kolkata Night Riders,
07:06are facing flack
07:07over the inclusion
07:08of a Bangladeshi player
07:10in the team,
07:10even as Hindus
07:12are being targeted
07:12in the neighboring country.
07:14KKR signed
07:14Bangladeshi peser
07:15Mustafizur Rahman
07:16for 9.20 crores
07:18rupees
07:19in the IPL 2026 auction.
07:21And as the only
07:22Bangladeshi player
07:23to find a home
07:24in the tournament,
07:25Mustafizur is inadvertently
07:27at the center
07:27of a larger
07:28controversy brewing.
07:30BJP leader
07:31Sangeet Sohm
07:31has launched
07:32a fierce attack
07:33on Shah Rukh Khan.
07:34The BJP has called
07:35SRK traitor
07:35for signing
07:36a Bangladeshi player
07:37saying he should
07:38not be allowed
07:39to live in India.
07:40The issue has now
07:41escalated further
07:42with Shiv Sena UBT
07:43also alleging
07:43that the money
07:45paid by Shah Rukh Khan
07:46to Bangladeshi players
07:46will only be used
07:47to nurture terrorists
07:48there who conspire
07:49against India itself.
07:51Sena UBT
07:52has basically joined
07:53the BJP leader
07:54in demanding
07:55that the SRK
07:57at this given point
07:59removes Mr. Fizur Rahman
08:00from the very team.
08:02So it's a united voice
08:04we see on that very front.
08:06But the Congress
08:06on the other hand
08:07has stepped in defense
08:08of Shah Rukh Khan
08:09calling these attacks
08:10unacceptable.
08:11Now the Karnataka minister
08:12Priyank Harge himself
08:13has alleged
08:14that a Bangladeshi player
08:15was big
08:15because the BCCI
08:16and the ICC rules
08:17allow it
08:17and the questions
08:18must be posed
08:20to those very bodies
08:21and the home minister.
08:23Priyank has even questioned
08:24why did India
08:25play with Pakistan
08:26after the very
08:27Pahlgaam attacks
08:28the controversy
08:28we have seen
08:29at length
08:29play out
08:30when the Asia Cup
08:31was around.
