00:00Hello. Thank you for watching today.
00:18Today's topic is the fiery brother.
00:213. Burning Brother
00:51A total of 24 episodes were aired in 1988.
00:58The story begins with the Kokuho family enjoying a picnic in the mountains.
01:05However, the father apologizes and drops his young son, Kenichi, into the river, and he goes missing.
01:14Meanwhile, Kenichi, who happened to be fishing downstream, reels him in and decides to take him home.
01:23Then, 13 years later, Kenichi, who has grown up and is now a fine young man, decides to go to town, a lifelong desire of his, rather than spending his days training in karate in the mountains.
01:34Upon hearing this, Genmaicha explains that Kenichi is actually a broad term, and shows him the clothes from that time that were found in the river, which have a piece of cloth sewn onto them with the man's name and address written on it.
01:49Afterwards, Kenichi descends the mountain and goes into town to look for the address, but on the way he causes trouble here and there because he has no idea about the town's rules or common sense.
02:02The police then arrive and try to arrest Kenichi, the leader of the commotion, but as Kenichi resists, he happens to come across a female student.
02:14As he was telling the girl his story and family, he was caught by the police who had been following him and was taken to the hospital with injuries.
02:26However, this turns out to be a blessing in disguise as it turns out that Kenichi is the eldest son of the Kokuhō family, and his father rushes to the hospital.
02:35Furthermore, she finds out that the female student is also Kenichi's sister, Yukie, and is shocked and stunned, standing there in shock.
02:46A few days later, Kenichi is released from the hospital and returns home for the first time in 13 years, but his mother has already given up, and after meeting his younger brother Kenji, it is decided that Kenichi will go to school.
03:01The next day, when he goes to school, there are no empty seats in the classroom, so he sits in the seat of a student who has been absent for a long time. Unfortunately, that student, Hidougai, comes to school for the first time in three months.
03:17Seeing Kenichi sitting in his seat, Hido becomes enraged and challenges him to an arm wrestling match with his seat at stake.
03:25Although Fuudo was confident of victory, he was easily defeated by Kenichi, and they went outside the classroom and started fighting, this time with their seats and whereabouts at stake.
03:37In the midst of this, students from other schools who had been targeting Hido burst in, so Hido and Kenichi work together to drive them away. After that, they once again engage in a one-on-one fight, but the fight is quickly decided by a punch to the face by Kenichi.
03:55When Hido finds out about Kenichi's abilities, he becomes mad at him, and from then on, Kenichi, who has no common sense, continues to cause trouble but continues to live his school life.
04:11Now, let me introduce the main characters.
04:15National Treasure Kenichi is the protagonist of this work, who becomes a wild child after going missing in the mountains and undergoing rigorous karate training under his foster father, Genmaicha.
04:28However, because he was not taught common sense, he became a troublemaker in the city, doing things that would always get him in trouble with the police. He also started going to school, but he hated studying because using his brain would short-circuit him.
04:45Perhaps because he grew up in the mountains where the strong prey on the weak, he has an abnormal obsession with winning, and when pushed to the limit, he will unleash an extraordinary power, like a superhuman strength in an emergency, and crush his opponent.
05:03Yukie Kokuhō is Kenichi's younger sister and is a reliable person who manages the Kokuhō household finances and housework in place of their mother, who has passed away.
05:11She had a serious personality and was an excellent student at school, and her cute appearance and kind nature made her extremely popular with the male students.
05:25However, like his older brother Kenichi, he is often seen lacking common sense, and is always being teased by those around him.
05:34National Treasure Kenkichi is the father of Kenichi, who becomes a gardener, and is also the head of the family who caused Kenichi to go missing in the mountains.
05:46In fact, while he hides the fact that he committed various crimes during his student days, including theft, the remnants of those crimes remain, and he has an unusual obsession with money and seems to have some personality problems.
06:01National Treasure Kenji is Kenichi's younger brother who was born after he went missing.
06:09Although he looks like his father, he is a serious and intelligent younger brother, just like his older sister Yukie, and there are many scenes where he gets bored with the chaos caused by his older brother Kenichi.
06:20Kaede is Kenichi's half-sister from when he was in the mountains, but in fact she is a girl that Genmaicha unknowingly brought along when he stole a stroller. She follows Kenichi down the mountain and becomes a freeloader at the Kokuho household.
06:37Later, like his brother, he transfers to the school and begins studying in the same class as his brother and Yukie.
06:47Genmaicha is Kenichi and Kaede's foster parent, and although he looks unreliable, he is also a master of Genmaicha-ryu karate, possessing power and skills that surpass even Kenichi.
06:59After appearing at the Kokuhō household, for some reason she and Kaede became boarders at the house, while she also became close friends with Kenichi and disappeared for a while.
07:13Flipper is a wolf who has grown up with Kenichi in the mountains and has become his friend, accompanying him to town.
07:21Although he is slender, he is strong enough to overpower the delinquent dogs in town, but he seems to suffer from a poor sense of direction.
07:31Hitogai is a delinquent student of unknown age who is the heir to a Yakuza/Hidogumi gang and has repeated the grade several times because he only attends school once every few months.
07:43After learning of Kenichi's abilities during their first confrontation, he forced himself to stand side by side with him.
07:49Although he is a violent man with Hannya's appearance and tattoos, he obediently obeys Yukie, whom he has a crush on, in everything she does.
08:00Rocky Skin is a student who is half Japanese and half Filipino and wears flashy clothes.
08:07He originally worked as a hitman and bodyguard, has a high level of instigation ability, and defeats his opponents with his special move, the Super Ultra Great Delicious Wonderful Bomber.
08:19He was also one of the people who had feelings for Yukie, and in his room, where he lived in extreme poverty, there were many photos of Yukie on the walls.
08:27Akira Shiranui is a handsome boy who is the object of admiration for the female students and is trying to make Yukie his girlfriend.
08:38However, he has a problematic personality, and will not be satisfied until he gets revenge on anyone who has humiliated him.
08:46Ayanokoji Sayuri is Yukie's classmate and best friend, but perhaps because she is a rich young lady, she can also be a bit of a show-off and selfish.
09:00Furthermore, although she is in love with the violent Hido, it seems that her feelings are not fulfilled in the play.
09:09Sandy Yooper is a cheerful blonde girl who transferred to the school from Utah, USA. She speaks Japanese with an English accent and is well versed in martial arts, but she often leaves those around her feeling embarrassed because she has a mistaken sense of Japaneseness.
09:28Young Fumiko is Kenichi, Yukie's homeroom teacher, and has a gentle and innocent personality.
09:39Although he was in charge of unruly students, he also had unique behavior that was hard to believe was typical of a normal teacher, such as having fun with his students.
09:48Spartan X is a teacher brought in by the principal to help maintain discipline at Kenichi's school, and as his name suggests, he believes in ultra-Spartan education, including severe punishment for students he dislikes.
10:05Therefore, while he finds fault with Kenichi and tries to force him to expel from school, which would be impossible in junior high school, he seems to have a crush on the young teacher.
10:15In the first episode, the police chief successfully subdues Kenichi, but is injured and taken to the hospital.
10:27Since then, he has been involved in incidents and troubles caused by Kenichi, but he is a poor character who always ends up getting beaten back and suffering.
10:37As an aside, this work was first published in 1986 in the Weekly Shonen Jump Winter Special as a one-shot story titled "Burning Brother."
10:52It seems that the reason for this publication was that Akira Toriyama's color manuscript was not ready in time, so he made a sudden request to Sato.
11:03The work was so well received that it was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1987 to 1991, and then became so popular that it was made into an anime in 1988.
11:20However, in addition to depictions of violence and destruction, the film also contained many depictions of illegal activities and emotions, including murderous intent, and also contained a fair amount of discriminatory language that made fun of people with intellectual disabilities and personality disorders.
11:38The 1990 issue of the magazine about a cyborg office worker was deemed to be occupational discrimination, leading to the issue being recalled following protests from labor unions and organizations associated with office workers.
11:55After that, the series was temporarily discontinued, but was later resumed with a new title.
12:01In the final episode of the original work, after a fierce battle with the great dark destructive demon Metal Primer, peace returns to Japan.
12:14The story returns to the humor that is the origin of the work, with topics that are far removed from art, such as a sketching competition and becoming smarter through sleep study, and ends with a message from the author.
12:26Now, it's finally the final episode.
12:34One day, when the police chief's patrol car was parked in front of the school gate, Kenichi, the demon, came towards the car.
12:43The chief is surprised and instinctively opens the car door to let Kenichi pass.
12:48After that, Kenichi crashes into his house without being able to stop, but it seems that the play being performed in class has turned into Cinderella,
12:58Yukie is chosen to play the heroine, Cinderella.
13:02However, during the play, Kenichi seemed to panic, thinking for some reason that Cinderella Yukie was really going to get married.
13:11As the fathers try to clear up the misunderstanding, the play is scheduled for coverage on the TV show Your School's Cinderella.
13:24Yukie's father, Kenkichi, then imagines how much Yukie would earn if she became a star, and explains the story to Kenichi, who has no idea about it, so that he can understand it.
13:36Furthermore, when considering the casting for Cinderella, Rocky Skin and Shiranui suddenly join in, competing for the role of the prince who can kiss Yukie.
13:50The young teacher then announced that a selection meeting would be held to decide the role of the prince, and that auditions would be held at the school at a later date.
13:59As the costumed students, including Yukie, wait on stage, the candidates for the role of the prince, Shironui, Rockyhada, Hidou, and Kenichi, appear. However, with the exception of Shironui, the other three were disqualified because they appeared in impossible costumes, and Shironui was chosen to play the prince without the need for an audition.
14:23After the decisions were made, Rockyhada, who was not chosen for the role of the prince, will play the horse, Hidou will play the pot, and Kenichi will play the wind, and they will begin rehearsing.
14:37Watching his classmates perform one after another on stage, it was finally Kenichi's turn, but after playing the role of the wind whooshing across the stage, Kenichi found himself feeling depressed all too soon.
14:50Meanwhile, as Keiko nears the end of the play, in a scene where they search for the owner of the glass slippers, Kenichi, who is angry at Kaze, switches the glass slippers that were fitted to Yukie's feet with glass slippers that were fitted to the feet of the young teacher playing her mother.
15:08The glass slipper fits perfectly on the young teacher's foot, so the young teacher ignores the script and waits for the prince to suddenly propose marriage to her, but Shironui, who plays the prince, refuses.
15:23Seeing this, the young teacher becomes enraged and removes Shiranui from the role of the prince, but Rocky-hada, Hidou, Kenichi, and the other Shiranui members who were supposed to have been removed from the role are undeterred and begin fighting over Yukie again.
15:40However, Yukie became so angry at the competition that she tried to quit the role of Cinderella and the play, so Kenichi and the other three did not argue, but instead understood Yukie's true intentions and vowed to see the play through.
15:57On the day of the performance, Shiranui plays the prince as planned, while Rockyhada and Hidou play the mean sisters, and Kenichi, not Yukie, takes on the role of Cinderella, but the audience flees in disgust.
16:19Later, when the play is empty, the show ends with Kenichi's classmates becoming angry at him for casting him in this role and chasing him.
16:35Now let's take a look at Kenichi's crazy daily life.
16:49Let's take a look at Kenichi's crazy daily life.
17:19Let's take a look at Kenichi's crazy daily life.

20:52What did you think? When it was first aired, Ken-Iji and the other characters inevitably overlapped with the characters in Onimengumi, so I enjoyed this work as a parallel world of Onimengumi.
21:04I enjoyed it as a parallel world piece.
21:08How was it for you guys?
21:11Well, that's all for now.
21:14See you again soon
21:16Goodbye
