Born into a world where his mother died shortly after his birth and he was separated from his father, a boy raised by outlaws never forgot his spirit of justice. He survived the harsh frontier era and finally reunited with his father. This is the story of Isamu the Wilderness Boy.
00:18Today's topic is Isamu, a boy from the wilderness.
00:21The story of Isamu, the boy of the wilderness, is about a boy whose mother dies shortly after he is born and who is separated from his father. He is raised by outlaws, but he never loses his sense of justice, survives the harsh conditions of the Western frontier, and is finally reunited with his father.
00:41Now, let's take a look at this work.
00:44Isamu, Boy of the Wilderness was originally written by Noboru Kawasaki and aired for a total of 52 episodes between 1973 and 1974.
00:59The story begins with the outlaw Wingate family attacking a stagecoach carrying cash, and after a shootout, killing all the gunmen guarding the stagecoach and stealing the cash.
01:13Later, the Wingates cause trouble in the bar, killing gunmen who make rude remarks for fun.
01:24Meanwhile, a young boy is tending to the horses, and at Tono Tanden, he displays a level of skill that is hard to believe for a boy.
01:33The boy's name was Isamu and he had been raised by the Wingate family since he was a child, but he had no idea about the murders and robberies the family committed, and he worked as a pawn, doing odd jobs such as caring for the horses.
01:49When they returned, after preparing a meal, Isamu showed them the results of his intensive training in gun handling, just as the father of the family, Hartwingate, had told him to.
02:02The training includes not only regular shooting, but also shooting from horseback and the speed at which bullets are reloaded, demonstrating skills that surpass those of a skilled gunslinger.
02:15The members of Wingate were shown skills by Isamu that were beyond their imagination, but they couldn't help but smile eerily.
02:23In fact, by training Isamu with guns, they were hoping to have him act as their right-hand man when committing crimes such as robberies.
02:35Satisfied with Isamu's skills, the father of the family, Hartwingate, orders him to shoot and kill a passing traveler as a final test. However, Isamu is unable to do so and is punished with a fistful of words by his eldest son, Red, who is annoyed.
02:53A few days later, Isamu visits a certain town with the Wingate family, but Hart, wanting Isamu to shoot someone, sets a trap in a bar.
03:04This incites a gunman called Quick Draw Mac, who happens to be there, to engage in a duel with Mamma and Isamu.
03:12During the duel, they face each other and remain motionless for a long time, until Red, growing impatient, attacks again and fakes the sound of a gunshot. At that moment, Isamu and Mac draw their guns and fire, but Isamu shoots Mac dead in an instant.
03:30Isamu is unable to hide his shock at having shot someone for the first time, but from this moment on, through his confrontation with the Wingate family and the secret of his birth, he grows into a Naute gunslinger with a strong sense of justice.
03:47Now, let me introduce the characters.
03:55Watari Isamu is the protagonist of this work, half Japanese, half Indian, with a Japanese father and an Indian mother, but his mother died shortly after he was born, and he was separated from his father.
04:07He then spent a peaceful childhood in the rough-and-tumble village of Rotten Camp, where he was nicknamed Samboy and loved by the residents. However, after being kidnapped by the outlaw Wingate family, he was used as a rice dealer and was thoroughly trained in how to handle a gun.
04:27However, after learning of the Wingate family's evil deeds, he turns away from them and confronts them, and at the same time, when he meets Katsuno Kokoro by chance, he learns that Katsuno Kokoro is his father, and sets out on a journey to find him.
04:44Watarikatsu Nozomi was Isamu's father, and after Isamu's mother, Sakura, died, he was separated from Isamu and began wandering around town searching for him.
04:55He originally came to the United States to study oratory, but while searching for gold mines to earn money, he met an Indian woman named Sakura and gave birth to Isamu.
05:07In the play, she meets Isamu without knowing that he is her son, and teaches him judo as a way to survive.
05:15Hartwingate is the father and breadwinner of his family, and has a large bounty on his head for robbery and murder.
05:25He kidnapped Isamu from Rotten Camp and trained him as his subordinate, but when his evil deeds were discovered and he became his enemy, he began to plot to kill Isamu.
05:34Redwingate is the eldest son of the family and a ruthless man with a brutal nature.
05:44Since kidnapping Isamu, he has been subjecting him to rigorous Spartan training, including quick strikes and extreme strikes, but he has come to despise Isamu's sense of justice.
05:55After Isamu's betrayal, he becomes hostile towards Isamu, feeling a sense of betrayal and showing his cruelty.
06:01Netwingate was the second son of the family, and although he inherited the cruel character traits, he was flawed by his goofy behavior.
06:11Although he is quite skilled with a gun, he is not good at thinking things through, so he simply follows the instructions of his father, Hart, and his older brother, Red, in everything he does.
06:23Pinkstone was a fast-paced, lone-wolf black gunner who was a former slave working in white homes.
06:35His mother was murdered during a robbery committed by the Wingate family, and he subsequently killed his white master to avenge his mother. Despite becoming a wanted man, he continued to search for the Wingate family.
06:49Unfortunately, he is caught by the Wingate family, beaten up, and seriously injured, but is rescued by Isamu, who learns of the family's misdeeds, and then disappears somewhere.
07:03Sheriff Morris is the sheriff of El Paso, and although he misses the Wingate family who show up to rob a bank, he does arrest Isamu.
07:12After his arrest, the decision was made to release Isamu due to his age and Dr. Thomson's contributions, but Isamu, who had been a subordinate of an outlaw, had mixed feelings.
07:24Death is a dual-wielding outlaw from Mexico who comes to El Paso holding Dr. Thompson, Isamu's benefactor, hostage.
07:37In a fierce exchange of fire, he defeats Sheriff Morris, but is shot dead by Isamu, who becomes confused by his reckless movements.
07:45Clara is a girl whom Isamu met when he saved her when the carriage she was riding in with her younger brother Robert went out of control.
07:57Later, when Isamu was put on trial, she took the stand to testify and helped him, and when Isamu started working at the ranch run by her father, the two of them became even closer.
08:10Morrison is Clara's father, a rancher who owns a large ranch outside of El Paso.
08:19Because Isamu saved her when she was being attacked by robbers and also saved Clara's life, she hires him at the ranch.
08:29Thunderbolt was Isamu's horse, originally kept on a ranch in Colorado.
08:36Although he has extraordinary physical abilities and intelligence, he is extremely shy and does not get attached to people, making him like a wild horse. However, he meets Isamu and has been traveling with him ever since.
08:54Now, it's finally the final episode.
08:57The final episode will be a sequel to the previous episode.
09:00After finding out where his father, Katsunomi, was, Isamu drove his Thunderbolt and headed for Red River.
09:11However, perhaps because Thunderbolt was forced to move too far, a malfunction occurred in the low iron, preventing it from moving forward.
09:19Just as he is at a loss as to what to do, he happens to meet a kind gentleman named Mr. Wankel who is also traveling to Red River, and they decide to go together to a nearby town to exchange his low iron.
09:35After arriving in town, Mr. Wankel learns that Isamu is the son of Katsuyasumi, who had saved his life long ago, and decides to head to Red River with Isamu the next day.
09:47Mr. Wankel also asked the captain of the cavalry escorting the coastal troops to Red River to inform Katsuno Shin about Isamu.
10:00Meanwhile, a group of robbers was plotting to take Mr. Wankel, a prominent politician, hostage, gain control of the nearby waters, and also occupy the town of Red River.
10:12Meanwhile, Katsunoko, who was about to leave Red River, was informed by the arriving cavalry captain that Isamu was heading to Red River, so he decided to stay in town.
10:26At that time, Isamu and Mr. Wankel were heading towards Red River when they were suddenly attacked by a gang of robbers. Mr. Wankel was captured, and Isamu fell into the river in the valley.
10:39The gang then enters the town of Red River and tells Mr. Wankel to exchange nearby waters, but also tells him that Isamu has died before leaving.
10:51However, Isamu is rescued by Thunderbolt, and as he heads to rescue Mr. Wankel, he discovers the gang of robbers and discovers that Mr. Wankel has been held captive in a cave.
11:06As night fell and security was lighter, they managed to defeat the guards and rescue Mr. Wankel, then hurried off to Red River.
11:19Although the robbers have lost their hostage, their leader, Gessler, carries out a plan to attack the cavalry directly, pretending to be holding Mr. Wankel hostage.
11:29Meanwhile, Katsunokoro, unaware that the hostages have escaped, informs the cavalry that Mr. Wankel is being held hostage and requests that he and Kinkai return to town.
11:44The cavalry hurries back to town, but both Jimba and the others are exhausted and are taking a rest when a gang of robbers appears and uses dynamite to assimilate them.
11:56In the midst of a fierce exchange of fire, the cavalry is cornered and is asked to hand over the nearby seas, but the bandits are reluctant to exchange the seas for Mr. Wankel, and the cavalry commander begins to suspect that Mr. Wankel has fled.
12:13After a while, Gessler realized that his lies would not work and allowed Mr. Wankel to escape, so the cavalry commander made it even more forceful and made it clear that he could not cross the coast.
12:27Enraged, Gessler then orders his comrades surrounding the cavalry to kill everyone.
12:36Meanwhile, Isamu and Mr. Wankel arrive safely in the town of Red River and immediately request reinforcements from the cavalry, but a bridge along the way is blown up by a gang of robbers, making it impossible for them to send reinforcements.
12:53The cavalry, unaware of the situation, are subjected to necessary assaults by the bandits, and with ammunition running low, they are gradually cornered.
13:06As the cavalry members were defeated one after another, finally only the cavalry commander and Katsuyoshi remained, and it seemed that all options had been exhausted.
13:17However, Katsuno Shin turns the adversity to his advantage, approaches the unsuspecting gang of robbers, and launches a solo attack.
13:29Amidst the hail of bullets, Katsuno Shin manages to get hold of the dynamite belonging to the robbers and detonates it to disrupt the gang.
13:37However, their counterattack was in vain, and they finally ran out of ammunition. The cavalry commander and Katsuno Shin drew their swords and charged at the robbers, but were shot and prepared to die.
13:52At that time, reinforcements arrived, having somehow managed to cross the river at Isamu's starting point, even though the bridge had been destroyed, and the situation was quickly reversed.
14:01Seeing this, Gessler tries to attack with dynamite, but is blown away along with the dynamite by Isamu's bullet.
14:14Amidst the dynamite smoke, Katsuno Shin rushes to the scene looking for Isamu, and there he finds Isamu, who has survived the explosion.
14:23Then, as the morning light gradually breaks into dawn, Isamu and Katsuno Kokoro look at each other for a while, then run towards each other, crying tears of joy at their reunion and embracing each other.
14:36The scene changes to Isamu and his son, Katsunoshin, on horseback, looking out at the western landscape from the top of a cliff, vowing to continue pioneering and achieve justice and order, and the program ends with this scene.
14:57Now, let's take a look at Isamu's performance.

17:35At the time it was aired, American western movies and TV dramas were all the rage, and I remember that heroes dressed in western style costumes were also hugely popular in children's superhero shows.
17:47You all also have a carb-o program.
17:51Well, that's all for now, see you again soon.
