00:00Who's coming over?
00:01Martha, Noah, and his family.
00:02Oh, no.
00:04I know what you're going to say.
00:05You've always said we want to go way up north.
00:07No.
00:08Back to where it all began.
00:09Yeah, this is it.
00:10How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
00:12Those with slides, when they bite you,
00:13they take a chunk out of you.
00:14Logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
00:18Ryan's got a flap.
00:19I need your muscle, Brad.
00:20We're back on the dusty trail.
00:22Hopefully, we'd see some moose through the dust clouds.
00:24Most important thing is always pay attention
00:26and listen to Chase.
00:26Here you hear me.
00:27Bring me a window.
00:30Is anyone going to help?
00:31Go on, sweetie.
00:33We paid for a balcony room.
00:43See that?
00:44OK, follow the stick with your eyes.
00:48Ashley, we're supposed to be cleaning.
00:49I'm trying to hypnotize him into making me more than you.
00:52Oh, it worked!
00:54It worked, it worked.
00:57What are we doing here?
00:59Who's coming over?
01:00Martha, Noah, and his family.
01:02What side of the family is Noah on again?
01:04Martha is his mother, our father's oldest sister.
01:08Oh, no.
01:10I know what you're going to say.
01:12Oh, no.
01:13What? What's the matter?
01:14No.
01:15Yeah.
01:16What do you mean, you don't know?
01:17Where does Noah have a place that we stayed at?
01:20Oh, nine mile?
01:22Nine mile.
01:22We've always said we want to go way up north.
01:25No.
01:25Back to where it all began?
01:27Yeah, this is it.
01:30What's the matter?
01:31I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle being up north with all you guys.
01:36There's no escaping up there either.
01:37And there's no power, no internet, no TV, no phone service.
01:41There's escaping?
01:42Yeah.
01:43They can go for a hike and go fly.
01:44Yeah, you can walk down the road, run from black flies.
01:47Yeah.
01:48Nine mile camp is about 30 years old.
01:51We actually went up there for a project.
01:54The first thing we ever did for TV was a pilot called Lost Cabin Hunters.
01:58Dixie, you and Justin go start hauling more materials.
02:01Absolutely.
02:02And Ryan, Jedi and I will come up with a good plan, so we'll hit it hard.
02:07Let's get after it.
02:08Cool.
02:09Let's do it.
02:10So we stayed in Uncle Bruce's camp and worked on another trapper's cabin close by.
02:15Yeah, on the water.
02:16Which was right next to the old camp, the trapper's cabin.
02:19We all stayed in this camp.
02:20All together.
02:21One big room.
02:22You following on this?
02:23I know we left a time capsule.
02:24It'll be exciting to see if it's still there.
02:26Roll the footage.
02:27We got a little time capsule we're going to do.
02:29All right.
02:30Last piece.
02:31Let's hope it's there for another hundred years.
02:34Hundred years.
02:37It was an adventure, to say the least.
02:39Nice job.
02:40Good job, guys.
02:41Out of here.
02:46Noah's got a family now.
02:47They use the camp all the time.
02:48Tons of family use the place.
02:50So we'll see what Noah and the family are looking for.
02:52Hey, guys.
02:53Good morning.
02:54Good morning.
02:55Good morning.
02:56We made it.
02:57I'm Martha.
02:58I'm Chase and Ashley's aunt.
02:59What's up?
03:00Good to see you.
03:01Good to see you.
03:02Nice to see you.
03:03I'm Noah.
03:04Good to see you.
03:05And Chase and Ashley are my cousin.
03:07It's been a few years since we've been up there.
03:09I'm sure the list is fairly long.
03:11What are you looking to have done to the camp?
03:13I think the biggest things would be safety first.
03:16The little deck up on the second floor.
03:18The cedar board is starting to get rotten and squishy.
03:20The railing is not super secure.
03:22Make sure that's safe for the kids.
03:23Sleeping arrangements upstairs as well.
03:26Right now it's a big open space.
03:29So maybe creating some bunk beds for these guys.
03:32Some partitions and some additional seating on the inside of the camp.
03:36Countertops have fallen apart.
03:39The bathroom is in need.
03:41The siding is starting to degrade.
03:43The stairs out back need an overhaul.
03:45And seating around the fire.
03:48The privy out back needs an overhaul.
03:50That might be the first thing we do.
03:51Get a good bathroom going.
03:53We'll see.
03:54Priorities are different for everybody.
03:56For sure.
03:57Is there anything else you want to see done to it?
04:00You know, I would like to see a safe spot for the boys when they use their bow and arrow.
04:06Just like a little area to do some target practicing.
04:10Let's go.
04:11Let's take this back to our rooms.
04:12Yeah, I think logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
04:16It's at least a six hour drive to get there.
04:19Yeah.
04:20How close is the nearest town, hardware store, anything?
04:25Self-serve.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Power.
04:28I would say four hours.
04:29Well, three hours, actually.
04:30Three or four.
04:31Three or four.
04:32Three hours one way.
04:33I know who's got the lead foot.
04:34The four hours.
04:35I can cut it pretty quick.
04:38Four hours to the nearest town.
04:40Six hours from here.
04:41Correct.
04:42And that's dirt roads.
04:43Majority.
04:44Yes.
04:45It's pretty isolated.
04:46We're going to have to make one long convoy so that if somebody does get a flat tire,
04:50which sounds like it's very common.
04:53And depending on the day that you go in, it is the North Main Woods.
04:58It's a working area.
05:00There are going to be logging trucks that you're going to have to be very careful of.
05:04So we don't want to forget anything.
05:05We don't want to forget anything.
05:06I think the best option is probably to bring as many of the crew as we can.
05:10All the supplies, all our food.
05:12We've got to make sure that we're prepared with multiple spare tires and the tools to be self-sufficient.
05:17You're going in there outfitting for an adventure.
05:19Yeah.
05:20We have to go up there and get measurements and everything?
05:21How's that going to work?
05:22Well, Noah goes up regularly.
05:23Yeah.
05:24I'm going up on Thursday for a canoe trip.
05:25So we'll measure every nook and cranny.
05:27Chase is going to give you some homework then, right?
05:28Yeah.
05:29The more we can pre-build, prefab down here, the more efficient we're going to be up there.
05:33I think we're going to have to set the timeline on this one.
05:37I think we can probably steal away for two weeks in the middle of summer when it's our busiest time of the year,
05:43and we'll get done as much as we possibly can.
05:46How much do you have for the renovations on the camp?
05:49$40,000?
05:50Is there a family discount?
05:53You know there is.
05:56How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
05:58Moose flies.
05:59Yeah.
06:00That's bigger than a horse fly.
06:01Those whist flies, when they bite you, they take a chunk out of you.
06:04All right.
06:05So we've got a budget.
06:06We've got a time frame.
06:07You're getting us measurements.
06:09I think we just need a set of keys.
06:11Yay!
06:12There's the key.
06:13Excellent.
06:15And a pencil.
06:16All right.
06:17Without the Maine Cabin Masters, we could never even dream of doing something like this.
06:21They understand the complexity of living in the North Maine woods while you're working.
06:25We'll walk you out.
06:26We've got to go get ready.
06:27We've got to pack those trucks.
06:28And their willingness to go up and to stake out and to invest.
06:32I don't think anybody else would do it.
06:34It's a spot that we love.
06:35It's a very unique geographic area.
06:37It's wild.
06:38It's rugged country.
06:39I love to take the boys up and explore and just being together unplugged.
06:44It's really what it's all about.
06:45Check it.
06:46You're coming to the great North woods?
06:47Yeah, okay.
06:48So today we are packing up and ready to convoy north to Noah's camp up in Nine Mile.
07:08Oh my gosh.
07:09Are you excited?
07:10This is your first time today, Al Gash.
07:11Oh yeah.
07:12I don't know if Gussie ever went.
07:13All my biggest concerns today are flat tires getting lost and we're going to have to watch
07:23out for logging trucks.
07:24I'm going to turn it over and take it over, I think.
07:26Are you ready to be my roommate?
07:27No.
07:28No.
07:29Our next stop will be Mile 6 Checkpoint.
07:34It's a gate that lets us into the North Main woods.
07:36We'll all register, sign in, and then it's all dirt roads and out of communication from
07:40there.
07:41All right, everybody.
07:42Wheels up.
07:43Next stop, 6 Mile Checkpoint.
07:45Nine Mile, baby.
07:46So I'm super excited to get up to Nine Mile.
07:48The guys have been talking about the project that they first did, the Trapper's Cabin.
07:53I've never seen it.
07:54I also heard that there's a time capsule.
07:56So yeah, I'm excited.
07:57Let's go.
07:58We've made it through Ashland.
08:00We've reached the Mile 6 Checkpoint.
08:02Three and a half hours here.
08:04That was three and a half hours in.
08:06Four hours.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Three and a half to cross.
08:09We've just got to try and stick together best we can in case somebody pops a tire.
08:13Hey, I just want you guys to be careful out there because today, very high temperatures.
08:18Breaker, breaker, Matty.
08:20This here is the pig pen, over and out, bringing up the rear.
08:24A little update here on the old Nine Mile convoy.
08:27We are officially six hours into the trip.
08:32Been nothing but dirt roads for the last hour or better.
08:35And I think we've got about another hour, hour and a half to go.
08:38No issues yet.
08:39Knock on wood.
08:40I couldn't.
08:41I'm making our way to Nine Mile.
08:47Oh, I got one.
08:48No, you didn't.
08:49Yeah.
08:50No, no, no, no, no.
08:51He's freaking out.
08:52Ryan's got a flat.
08:53Literally, when I stopped, I heard a hiss.
08:54How do you fix a flat?
08:55It's called a plug kit.
08:56You have a plug kit?
08:57You don't.
08:58You don't.
08:59Should we pour some water on my tires and see if any of your hissing?
09:00No, no, no.
09:01Who's the fastest to plug a tire?
09:02Brad's reaming out the hole.
09:03And then you take this little thing, thread it through here.
09:04Now, he's taking the plug, driving it in, and he twists it.
09:06Come on, Brad.
09:07Yeah.
09:08Got it.
09:099am, we were right about here, and then about 1.30, we were here, which is a six mile checkpoint
09:35point to the Northwoods and now we're right about here and we still have an
09:41hour to go to get to here we just dealt with issue number one flat tire about
09:4920 minutes half an hour there we've got everything taken care of we're back on
09:53the dusty trail we've got a little bit of rain coming in right now so hopefully
09:57that's gonna cut down the dust make this travel a little easier and allow us to
10:02see some moose through the dustplows
10:10we're here we got five tires a couple guys got lost there are a lot of moving
10:14parts and we're ready to get started we're back morning we got a whole crew
10:19working today we have a very full crew they found it before we did see it's a
10:24little out of level so it needs to be jacked leveled up getting new siding that
10:28window there's getting replaced that deck on the side second floor is getting
10:32replaced hopefully the door is getting replaced window on a second floor gable
10:36then on the other side getting replaced all new log profile siding all needs to
10:41be painted and stained guys are digging the new hole for the outhouse I need to
10:46get that dug this is the entire outhouse right here just needs to be reassembled
10:50it was all pre-built at back 40. can we go inside sure she's excited
10:55Noah and his family are looking to get the camp jacked leveled new siding replace
11:01some bad windows where the seals are gone replace a door that's rotted and new
11:07deck and new outhouse
11:10oh yeah memories what I remember this place I've been here a couple times 12
11:15years ago the guys all came up here and shot a pilot a pilot I wasn't a part of
11:19and didn't get picked up it's called lost cabin hunters well then chase said I do
11:24have a sister and she does do design and he asked me and I joined the team we made
11:30another pilot and guess what got picked up so what's the plan in here plan in here
11:35is replace this window kitchen we brought up countertops we need to redo this
11:40kitchen a little more privacy in the bathroom space this door needs to be
11:47replaced new deck off the back and then upstairs upstairs is the best part when
11:52we all get to sleep together in one big room so this window here original to the
11:57camp yeah plexiglass plexiglass looks like the plexiglass wasn't quite big enough oh
12:04yeah remember all the beds are like bed bed bed bed bed bed the inside of Noah's cabin
12:12our plan is to replace the picture window replace and repair the two doors update the
12:16kitchen update the bathroom replace the windows upstairs replace the slider door upstairs and
12:22build bunk beds for the family low ceilings you know it's gambrel so we have to kind of
12:27figure out what's gonna work for bunk beds up here but I think we can come up with a good
12:30design it's all about giving a little bit of privacy so it's not just army barracks
12:34and then you have a wall and then you can have a little bit of space you can have a
12:37little bench here face was saying if we have leftover materials we might be able to make
12:41bunk beds with partitions so each individual pod could have its own like little bench and correct
12:48yes all this can come over we can get prepped and ready for jacking and leveling that can get
12:55disassembled bring pucks or anything to set this on or what are we doing that way we'll have to get
13:01some gravel some whatever we can to fill in around it and then we can start digging a cesspit
13:08yeah so able to drag the old gas shed out of the way where the new outhouse is going to go prefabricated
13:18everything for the outhouse down in Monmouth so we got the crib work everything all cut next step is to
13:24go grab some gravel and bring it back to fill in
13:28yeah chase it oh uh set to the right all right don't don't start dropping it now here up a nine
13:42mile we are at the shale pile we've got to build up around the outhouse this is going just on the
13:47bottom of the outhouse yeah that might be a couple trips huh it might be there's a lot of these shale
13:54piles all throughout the roads up here that's what they kind of pass and fill in the roads with so
14:00we've got permission to get some shale from here to cover up around the outside of the outhouse
14:04what's it is with this and slate softer are they related they're all related they're rocks
14:13am i good yeah keep going yes i am going to get most improved backer upper over the course of this
14:28little gig we've been on ryan pull forward and then we'll try and cut it in tighter if possible
14:35the most important thing is always pay attention to listen to chase so i'll be back okay kind of hard
14:41cut it real hard guide me brother-in-law wicked hard yep don't get no hotter than that uh too hard
14:49too hard oh stop stop here keep my mouth shut
14:51oh stop stop so the guy's got the hole all dug the basin all built the shield that we just went
15:02and put into the trailer we're gonna back that in we're gonna back fill this whole toilet housing
15:07right here and uh hopefully get it closed in sooner than later then we can start building the shack
15:12once more once more and we're there cut it again right now that's good yep back of trailer sucks
15:20years of practice and a lot of luck make a big circle right there and we'll go swoop right into there
15:28we got the hole dug and you know we knew we were only going to be able to go in about 18 inches deep
15:33but we needed about a 36 inch deep pit so we need to do back fill up around it francis brought his dump
15:39trailer can't really haul heavy machinery in here ready yep i wouldn't want to get rid of any of this
15:46i mean we'll try and put we'll use as much as possible you know definitely where it's all signed
15:53yeah through the years i mean it goes back to 1990 yeah so we're gonna save all of this this is uh you
16:02know pretty um important it goes back to the 90s um different people that have come to stay with
16:09noah and the family have uh written all over the place so they kind of want to save that so we're
16:15gonna be just very careful trying to take this apart it's probably 33 by 86 go take a look at it
16:23see what we're up against
16:25yeah
16:31i'll go give it a little pushy from the top yeah from the top don't break it
16:37there you go hunter nice push ashley right outside somewhere yeah bring it over here
16:47you got it benny you need a hand benny's tough the old double pane
16:52i'd say somewhere way out of the way painted glass came out pretty easy now it's just a matter of uh
16:58dropping our sill um padding the opening a little bit and installing the window when you put this on
17:04he's gonna walk around and it moves because the horseflies are bugging him so now it the horseflies
17:09think there's a dragonfly on top of him come here he might need something else on he might need a
17:14hard oh look see he's not gonna get any dragonflies i mean any horseflies because that the horseflies oh
17:21i hope you don't get any let me know the horseflies aren't gonna come around me because they're afraid
17:25of this dragonfly where is it when you walk around and then all the horseflies are gonna stay away from you
17:32see if it works so i'm just gonna fly on out of here without any horseflies
17:41i'm ready to receive the window here you hear me bring me a window
17:46then we're gonna help we gotta bend that flange too somebody else you hear helping me
17:51okay pick it way up tip the top to me here you can't just talk back
17:56all right coming on in watch out your hand francis beautiful
18:03just like that kitty cat just like that ashley make sure it's centered it's totes centered
18:11that cook of ours francis he's been in the middle of everything very impressive
18:14we got the pit dug cribbing work in back filled with all the shale and topsoil next step is to set
18:22the platform post it up get ready for the walls and roof you go one hole is bigger than the other
18:29hey it takes all sizes no no no no back to back oh it is an oval oh that's why
18:38i just lean back this wouldn't be awkward at all can you hand me some paper thanks no just like this
18:49chase had us try it out they even beveled the edges of the seat and there's gonna be a seat on top of
18:54that they're thinking of everything so those of us that are saying um at this camp francis is cooking
19:00us breakfast lunch and dinner um and then the rest of the crew is down at another campsite playing games
19:06they're fishing they're canoeing so they are bonding and having a great time down there
19:11so it's really just a cool bonding trip for all of us
19:17hi everybody what up ash we are these deceiving they're not like day two up to nine mile our goal
19:26today is to get the lattice on get the our house built get some trim up get some siding on get the
19:32upstairs deck build and just keep everything moving along we're getting ready to rip this deck off
19:38we got to replace this deck we've got to replace that door as well so we want to get everything
19:42torn out of there so we can get it opened up and see what we actually need for this new door and new
19:47deck so yeah we've got the rafters all cut stringers are ready to come down we're going to give it a tug
19:53it's going to slam right down there about eight ten feet away from the building
20:02pull hatch me we paid for a balcony room you better have this done by tonight okay
20:13pull hatch me nice job gentlemen day two everybody showed up right to go everybody a good night's sleep
20:20we are having peaches for breakfast peaches peach peach brad and schmitty are ripping off the second
20:28floor deck that's getting rebuilt once that's up and secured then we will take out that upstairs slider
20:35and replace that oh pixie what are you doing so in order to install the siding we need to have
20:43the skirting done and window trim and corner boards done so i'm working on window trim and corner boards
20:50we got the platform set yesterday for the outhouse so today it was just setting the walls getting
20:55everything secured that whack-a-mole i mean it was prefab so the walls go up pretty quick
21:06whoa he just kept going got the walls all assembled oh baby oh baby we need to put the rafters on we
21:13didn't pre-build the roof so we need to put the rafters up sheath it over roof it together get the doors on
21:18windows in trimmed out it's still early but everybody's uh motivated oh that does hurt okay
21:27back to work screen door screen door time so your brother said it's perfectly good we're gonna keep
21:33it i kind of agree with him yeah it's perfectly good let's keep it but let's make it look different
21:38i think we pop off this because this obviously had a screen on the bottom of dogs and people kicking it
21:42we can't just stand this down no so i'll pop this off we'll put new wood on the inside of this square
21:48and then hold the wood and i'll trim out both sides so i'll pop this off we'll paint it wait i
21:52wasn't paying attention what are you talking about this and this off let's just do it watch i'll do it
21:56and then we'll put new wood on the inside and i'll picture frame it to hold it on both sides and then
22:01we'll stick this will be green that'll be let's take this so what part of this project is mine
22:05painting a beautiful skull and crossbones on there
22:09anyway is it coming up yeah get that one whoa it's coming up from the other side don't worry we're
22:14keeping the screen doors we're gonna yeah we're gonna we're gonna fix it up a little bit we're
22:17fixing this brad did you did you bring new screen doors the one upstairs in your guys's room
22:22is our room we'll fix that one our room that's the suite i had to move our bed today so that we're
22:27going to have a new deck later we are going to have a new deck can i have my coffee on that deck
22:31tomorrow morning yeah yes don't tell too many people they're going to want to move in
22:36cool are you going to take off the other side too did the other side need taken offing one side at a time
22:44the other side might be okay though it might not have hit the elements is this the outside okay
22:47we'll just do the side that's perfect i like it ryan took out the screen door and told me that he was
22:51fixing it he came up with this idea that we should paint our logo on the new wood cut out some new
22:59pieces we stained them the color of the siding sarah nash you got this painted sarah's helping me
23:04just figure out how i'm going to trim out the inlay board we're going to put and then we'll flip it
23:08paint it inlay it no it's off the ashy now that ryan has fixed the door um sarah put a fresh coat
23:18of paint on it and we have this new panel here i am going to draw out and paint our company logo on
23:24here ryan cut out some new pieces so then we put them onto the door and glued them down and just had
23:29to wait for them to dry i don't think you need a sandbag i need another sandbag okay but it's popping
23:34it up on the other side ryan's level of bossiness is right about here right now i'd like it to be
23:38right about here did we have more of the clamps too will you please ask for ask the guys again
23:46please ask the other guys this stuff is super fast there's no sense of urgency with her stay to
23:52her urgency levels here and needs to be a little more up here so we should just meet the middle
23:58somewhere there's all their clamps my urgency level i mean it's not really that high but i really
24:03didn't have a whole lot to do today and i was looking forward to doing this project
24:06i'll be back door yeah well we'll set for half an hour or so it's gonna be worth the wait please
24:12please ryan's nicest compassion level is a little low today so the glue's dry we hope
24:19ryan will kill me if it's not but i want to get working on this everybody's kind of getting pulled
24:24in all kind of different directions with all these different projects going on so you take whoever
24:27you can get someone walks by wants to help me sure how's this going hey what are you doing
24:32apparently i took the weights off a little too soon my fault i did it i did it i did it why
24:44it's not funny because i'm what i'm trying to explain to you what's happening constant bickering
24:48constant bickering his frustration comes with me because i wasn't patient but this is coming from
24:53mr impatient himself so yeah come on the most impatient person within 200 miles asks you to
25:01wait you might want to listen air got in it no air got in it i did go back and apologize we came
25:08to the conclusion that we're going to let it sit overnight and it will really set it will be ready
25:12for me to get to it tomorrow morning
25:18i'm going to start right here pressure really was to get that outhouse done because
25:22pressure was good yes we needed a working outhouse on site right now we've got the outhouse roof all
25:28sheathed up got our ice and water shield on it got it closed right in now we're putting our metal
25:32panels down once we get our metal panels we're going to run our rake pieces and the roof is done man
25:41nice work today deck looks great siding looks awesome you know what looks the best straightforward
25:47from here the outhouse best it's ever going to look that's adorable
25:50morning number three everybody's hustling justin's getting paper up hunter's got the deck going on
26:00benny and the staining crews moving stuff around rise ripping up a bunch of trim sarah's cutting trim
26:07we're getting ready to side this back side walk away so the big jobs today are taking out the old
26:12slider door on the second floor getting the new slider up on the deck and installing that slider
26:18installing the gable end windows on the opposite end and getting the siding done on all four sides
26:24gosh this window's in bad bad shape oh we gotta take it apart so this window has been broken at some
26:32point and then broken again instead of one large picture window we're gonna try and put in three
26:36individual windows just to make life a little easier it's been great working with fletcher he leaves
26:42tomorrow i remember working up here with my father with my grandfather so it's great that he's had an
26:47opportunity to do that too how's your day going oh you match the extension cord too you're so stylish
26:58what we're gonna do is we'll leave those handles on i'll put two tie ropes or up to you guys we'll push
27:06up and then two guys will pull it up and then we'll just come up and over like we just did no i would not
27:11take it apart so getting the new door up we decided that it would be best not to disassemble the panels
27:17off from the sliding door but to bring it up as one unit hold up yeah okay now hold on hold on
27:26you on it schmidt what we did was we brought the door over to where the ladders were leaned it up against
27:32the ladder wrapped two ropes around it we had three guys up in the balcony just be easy when you tip it
27:39it went up with ease holy classic example right there of many hands making light work get it straight
27:49into the door so things are looking good fletcher and i just got the windows on the gable den installed
27:56these guys are working on the trim to get ready for siding slider door went in back deck went in looks
28:02like we're getting some rain soon so we're trying to get everything wrapped up so we can close it in as
28:06quickly as possible so now we're going to take off the clamps and pray that it is sealed i get to
28:13work beside dixie this is the best part of the day now i am just going to trace this out real fast
28:19and then i'm going to paint it with a green paint it's not gonna be that easy just go for it
28:23looks good ash thanks looks really good i like it i just had to say let's just go for it right nothing
28:36to it but to do it nothing to it but to do it right i see the glue's all dry now yeah right the glue is
28:43dried it has dried nicely must we bring that up again lesson learned you know the lesson is don't
28:52work with your husband there he is brian came over and helped me with the finishing pieces
29:01love it which was to put the picture frame trim around the panel that wind is feeding the bugs away
29:07i don't even need any of my contractions today jason fletcher installed it for me we did it guys
29:13it's official official good job good job everybody thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks
29:20good thing on to the next project
29:27we're halfway through day three tidied up stuff because i mean it looks like rain feels like rain
29:33so that means it's coming so i think it's a rainy end to the week we can't stop for the rain
29:52our goal is to get the stairs for the back deck built get the two gable ends sided and then it's
29:57a good stopping point for the weekend we knew yesterday the rain was coming we got lucky
30:03we got almost a full day in yesterday it's humid out too so you put a rain gear on so you're sweating
30:07underneath so you're getting wet regardless so do you want to get wet by the rain or do you want to
30:10get wet from sweat and then you have man glitter everywhere so it's just going to get dirty and
30:14disgusting biggest thing is just keep a good attitude and when we get done we'll clean all our tools
30:18off nice and let them dry i mean there's enough of us we should be able to have a bunch of people
30:22on both sides i'm gonna just go for it oh it's so much better
30:26it's pouring out here so trigger and fletcher and i are gonna find a nice inside project to do
30:35come on tricks get out of the rain i got some brushes you found us an indoor project my hero
30:43thank you what are we doing uh polyurethane window this yeah that is the window that's a window
30:52there's a window can you get close to the window every time i work with the kids it's a lot of fun
30:59and usually it's doing a special project with me it's not doing the building and so to have fletcher
31:04here and actually working and actually doing real work it's pretty cool to see you're leaving us today
31:10you're great you're moving on you're moving up in the world how was your first week with the cabin
31:14masters pretty great i had a great time what was your favorite part you took hanging out with me
31:21what he worked really really hard i would say as hard as the rest of the guys
31:25and he has officially graduated from mini master to a regular master all right this is done we'll
31:32let this dry see if we need another coat but i know good job stopped raining we got an inside job done
31:39now we can stay dry all right thanks kid
31:42i guess the goal of the week was to get the exterior wrapped up and yesterday afternoon
31:50we were pretty close we still had to finish the siding on both gabled ends and finish the back deck
31:55and stairs so today we just split into two teams three teams four teams where we're all one big team and we busted it out
32:09last board chase last board last board last board i feel like we are definitely learning something
32:19by everybody being here and getting things done all right last board justin last board steve last
32:25board i think that we are busting this out fast and it's fun to have everybody around hang on we
32:31have one more thing we want to do and then you can take off for the weekend we wanted to honor
32:35fletcher's graduation so i made a little diploma and asked all the crew if they would sign it
32:46i gotta walk slow you guys have short legs it's a ceremony you know fletcher in a long line of
32:52mini masters coming up we had we saw a brad and then schmitty and you know now fletcher and i just
32:58thought we had to put a little pomp and circumstance in it we didn't do a very good job marching but people
33:02got the idea fletcher could you please drum roll please what can you please come forward please step
33:09forward coming forward can you put on your gown
33:15yes now he places the cap on you
33:20when we clap you can flick your tassels okay chase fletcher you've been a mini master since day one
33:27you've been with us from the very beginning one two three watch your rams have a batter and ram
33:36yeah do i have to listen to teenager attitude all day yeah after this trip i think we all
33:43agree that you have graduated from a mini master to a true cabin master
33:49yeah we're all very proud of you and you work very hard and we'll miss you next week we'll miss
33:59you next week i hopefully ashley will build a frame for that diploma and he can put it over his desk
34:04someday when brad and schmitty come in for directions for the week here let's get a picture

34:13see him for a week with us it's pretty it's really awesome turn your tassel not too hard don't poke your
34:18eye out i mean i like working vacations whenever we would come up here it was always with my father

34:32get together and get it done get back to work
34:53go down this way meals cabin it's about another 100 yards 200 yards down a lot happened this first week
35:00it was very exciting a lot going on after the excitement of fletcher's graduation i realized it
35:05was a perfect time to head back to where it all began and take the team to camille's trapper's
35:09cabin the site of our first project together and hopefully the time capsule we buried over a decade
35:14ago is still there first time you came in this was all snow it was all snow yeah crazy to be back
35:20and we had one sled break so we were down three oh look at it look at it look at the roof it's so

35:33of power tools you guys did all this with hand tools hand tools but we ripped off the entire roof
35:38we had to replace some upper logs it had a dormer on the back ready nice we didn't really know what
35:47we were doing no we hadn't worked with each other for very long no look at us i had to fight with chase
35:52to put your roof trim on it out of your dick see what happens when you hug come on buddy get out
36:02all right all right oh we're still doing that sometimes yeah some things will never change

36:16100 years 100 years yeah all right that's it let's check it out let's go take a peek
36:28after you guys know the way so the cabin was truly a trapper's cabin it was built by camille
36:32bollier he lived in it he would have trap lines all around the saint john valley and now it is maintained
36:40by the nature conservancy for people who are canoeing saint john to stay in yeah let's find that time capsule
