00:00I don't know about you guys, but I'm a little hungry. So this is something you're going to want
00:03to stay around with. We're going to talk food. Carol Master back here on Bloomberg Markets.
00:08For those of you watching on TV, you are looking at some of the mouthwatering dishes that my next
00:13guest got to enjoy over these last 365 days around the world, everywhere from New York to London and
00:19a lot of places in between. She's got the coolest job here at Bloomberg. She is Bloomberg's food
00:25editor. She's Kate Crater, and she's joining us right now from across the pond to talk about the
00:3113 best dishes from 2025. Kate, so good to have you here. Happy almost new year. Has it been a good
00:39year in food? You know, that's a really good question because you get to like think back on
00:45the hundreds of dishes you've eaten and you have the highlights and you think it's been a good year.
00:50It's definitely been a challenging year for restaurants. Everybody knows it. You hear so
00:54much about it. You talk about rising costs. But there is still at the end of the day, there's
01:01so many highlights. Chefs are doing such a good job. And just across the board, like whether you're
01:07talking about something like a butter chicken dish, somebody reinventing the most classic of dishes
01:13or some awesome desserts that you can eat right now. I had a Hall of Fame affogato. I swore I would
01:20never order an affogato. They're everywhere. They're boring. And yet you have something like
01:25that. You have fully loaded mutton fries in London. It has been a good year.
01:31All right. So walk us through. I mean, I'm not going to ask you to fix,
01:35maybe choose your favorite. But you did say 13 best dishes that you ate in 2025. Talk to us about
01:41maybe, I don't know, let's talk about a couple of them. Let's highlight them. We've been showing some
01:45pictures. You talked about butter chicken experience that you had. Walk us through that.
01:51Yeah, let's start with that. That's at a restaurant called Adda. It's in the East Village. It's
01:57unapologetic foods. Indian food's just been magnificent in New York in the past couple years.
02:04And butter chicken is like a cliche dish. You think, why would I get butter chicken? And then at Adda,
02:10they make it table side. You get to pick your butters. You get to pick the wood that it's like
02:15smoked on. I just, I can't say enough about it. It's definitely a destination dish. Another great
02:23dish in New York. I know everybody has walked by the line at Magnolia Bakery. I've walked by and
02:30rolled my eyes. But a few blocks away, the place called the 86, which is where Chumley's used to be,
02:38one of the most storied bars in New York City, has become this fantastic little supper club called
02:44the 86. And they do an ode to banana pudding. The chef, the pastry chef, Michael Romano, has
02:52reimagined it. And it's just supersonic. It's got salted caramel. It's got like a homemade vanilla
02:58crunch, bananas, whipped cream, all of it. It's fantastic. Yeah, New York's doing really good this
03:04year. Yeah, I believe, actually, we showed a piece yesterday. Romain Bostic and Katie Greifeld
03:10spent some time at the 86. So they seem to have a really nice time. One last one to highlight. I'm
03:17just like, my mouth is watering. There's a burger, Chef Jackson Boxer's limited edition
03:23dove burger. Let's do that. What is that? Yeah, you know what? There's only 10 of them. Carol,
03:26when you come to London, we'll stand in line. They only make 10 of them a night. It's made with dry,
03:31dry-aged beef trimming. So it's no waste, so to speak. They make the doused onions and champagne.
03:39There's a little bit of gorgonzola. I think burgers, New York is what does burgers best.
03:44And yet still in London, they're making this burger that you will dream about.
