00:00I don't want to promote any conspiracy theories, but is this kind of part of the grand plan that
00:05for Tesla, it really didn't matter to have the expiration, the elimination of those tax
00:12incentives, the tax credit for EVs the way that it mattered for Ford or for GM?
00:19Yeah, I'm not sure. It depends on where you snap the line for a starting point on that
00:22market share analysis. Tesla's gone from from 90 plus percent down to 59 percent over the past two
00:29years. And the real surge has been amongst both GM and Hyundai, along with Toyota, if you count in
00:38hybrids. So there is the good news for the consumer is there's an increasing choice and those choices
00:46are increasingly good. And the consumer is moving that way. The Chevy Equinox, which sells
00:52for under thirty five thousand dollars, sold tens of thousands of vehicles in the fourth quarter or
00:57in the third and fourth quarters last year. So you see a real shift in market share that's happened
01:04over time. And and for those automakers that are stepping back for EVs, it leaves a it leaves another
01:12market share space to be absorbed by those that are committed to it. So I would say continue to look
01:19for market share gains from some of the newer entrants. And it'll be interesting to see how
01:26Tesla's aging model fleet and portfolio stands up against that new competition.
01:32And I'm glad you bring that up because a lot of people have been waiting for a low cost EV from
01:37Tesla, which has not really come through. I mean, it's kind of been promised forever, whereas the cars
01:42that are available from Tesla are kind of the same ones. They all look the same from years ago.
01:47There is increasing choice for consumers, but there's also a lack of buzz and excitement as
01:52compared to a couple of years ago. So how does a Tesla move forward in this environment versus
01:58a GM or a Hyundai? I think Tesla is really signaling to the market that it's an autonomy and a robotics
02:05company now. And so they've moved their investment into that space and and are putting the money where
02:12their mouth is in terms of that strategy, leaving some vulnerabilities in the base car market. And the market
02:18doesn't seem to be that concerned in terms of the stock price about the declining vehicle sales in market share at
02:24Tesla. So I think if you're an investor evaluating Tesla, you've got to evaluate them on the basis of the progress on
02:31autonomy and their progress on robotics.
02:34The U.S. market, the U.S. consumer market, doesn't have access to Chinese EVs, whereas the rest of the world does.
02:42Do you see a day in which we are going to be able to purchase a BYD or a NEO in the U.S.? What would it take for that to happen?
02:50I think I think maybe the first step for that was articulated yesterday when President Trump visited Detroit and opened the door for Chinese
02:59automakers to bring factories into the U.S. and produce their product here. So that may be the first that we see of of Chinese EVs here.
03:08I think it'll be a very important policy for the administration to focus on how they deal with all the subsidies that Chinese automakers take
03:18advantage of. There's a reason why you can sell a car for eight thousand dollars in China and its subsidies.
03:25Financial physics don't really add up to a to a selling price of eight thousand dollars being viable without significant government subsidies.
03:34And so I think from the U.S. policymakers perspective, they're going to have to figure out how to deal with those so that there is a level playing field for the U.S. manufacturers against Chinese competition.
03:46It's fine.
03:47I mean, anyway, it's fine.
03:48It's fine.
03:49I don't think there is.
03:51Now, for me, there's not some people who lead to anything that happens, so I know there's a table.
03:53It's fine.
03:54But, I don't think there is a table.
03:55So, well, I think that's in the way that the U.S. is really important.
03:56It's fine.
03:57So, well, it's fine.
03:58I think, no, it's fine.
03:59But, now I think it's fine.
04:00It's fine.
04:01It's fine.
04:02Yeah, I think it's fine.
04:03The most people in this regard there, it's fine.
