00:00Ah, but I don't need eight, I only need four.
00:02Chase!
00:02Can you ha-
00:03She needs help.
00:04That's not what she said.
00:05That is what I said, isn't it?
00:06If you hit the target once, we will help you move furniture.
00:09Okay.
00:10No!
00:11You gotta go back to work!
00:13Nope, nope, busy two weeks.
00:14How could you do this in that length of time?
00:17It's just, how could this have happened?
00:24Last week, we started renovating this off-the-grid cabin
00:27six hours away from home,
00:28and this week, we have to finish it.
00:36Breaker, breaker, this here's Tennessee Jedi,
00:38just back from civilization, back in the nine miles,
00:41but ready to fire up another convoy.
00:44This is Gray Squirrel here.
00:45Got you loud and clear, Tennessee Jed.
00:47Looks like we got ourselves another convoy.
00:50Let's keep on trucking and get this camp finished up.
00:55This weekend, we went whitewater rafting.
00:58We're doin' it.
01:07Chase and I, and Fletcher, we met Sarah and Maggie.
01:10We all went rafting.
01:14Rafting Classified Rapids, never done that before.
01:17Water was running really high.
01:18We had the best guide, it was amazing.
01:26Got a high-five for that effort.
01:28Yeah.
01:28Woo-hoo.
01:30Morning, everybody.
01:32Morning, Chase.
01:33So it's week two at the Nine Mile Camp.
01:35We got the exterior wrapped up last week.
01:37Everybody went their own separate ways over the weekend,
01:39and have come back recharged and ready to finish
01:41this two-week transformation.
01:43Move out, Day.
01:44Would you like a nectarine?
01:46I will.
01:47Move out, Day.
01:48What do you mean?
01:49Because we got to start working on the interior.
01:51We only need a little corner.
01:52You got to vacate the premise.
01:53The old hunting cabin, built in the 80s by my grandfather,
01:56father, and Uncle Bruce, has a mudroom in the entryway.
01:59You walk into an open dining living area.
02:02It's got a kitchen, a small bathroom with off-the-grid plumbing.
02:08Upstairs is one big room with a deck and a small closet
02:11that will be used for extra sleeping space.
02:14Outside, we already tore down the old outhouse, built a new one.
02:18There is another storage shed that we plan on siding this week.
02:21We need to trim out the door.
02:23Kitchen's getting redone, bathroom's getting redone.
02:26Front window's getting trimmed out.
02:28Upstairs, the walls, bunk beds are getting built,
02:32and the slider door is getting trimmed out.
02:35Gable-down window's getting finished off.
02:38So you're out in the tent with the rest of us.
02:40When was the last time you stayed in the tent?
02:42I don't know. Is there room for Trigger on it?
02:43I guess we're moving out.
02:44Can we finish breakfast?
02:46On the inside of Noah's cabin,
02:48we've already insulated the new picture window
02:50and replaced both of the doors downstairs.
02:52This week, we're going to update the kitchen with new countertops
02:54as well as refreshing the inside bathroom
02:56with new flooring and a new door.
02:58Upstairs, we've replaced all the windows
03:00and installed a new slider.
03:01Our plan this week is to build brand new bunk beds
03:03with privacy shields
03:04and create a more warm and welcoming
03:06sleeping space for the family.
03:08Aw, it was a good place.
03:10Well, it lasted.
03:11All right.
03:12Our balcony.
03:13I know. Brand new.
03:14We had a balcony.
03:15We had new windows, new doors.
03:16Let's get our stuff.
03:17Trigger, that's not your bed anymore.
03:18We're moving out, Triggs.
03:20Chase kicked us out.
03:22Outside, we need to reside the old outbuilding.
03:24We need to add a drip edge around the cabin,
03:26build a rail and ramp for the new outhouse,
03:28add solar to the outhouse,
03:30paint all the trim,
03:31build benches for the fire pit,
03:32build a new canoe rack,
03:33and of course, an archery area for the boys.
03:35Good morning.
03:36I've put a list together of everything.
03:38I think it's doable.
03:39There's enough of us here,
03:40and it's all super straightforward.
03:43We are limited on materials,
03:44so just be very conscientious
03:46about what you're cutting up.
03:47Try and find scrap short pieces
03:49before you cut up new stuff.
03:50The punch list is always long
03:52towards the end of a project.
03:53Last week, we focused on the exterior.
03:54This week, we're focusing on the interior.
03:56Guys have been working really hard.
03:58They've been up here almost a week and a half.
04:05Yeah, here in the bathroom,
04:06we're just trying to touch things up a little bit,
04:08make it a little more cozier.
04:09Make it feel a little bit more like home.
04:11We've got this click-down floor
04:13and kind of looks like marble.
04:14Nice, easy install.
04:16We're just going to get it in here,
04:17get a nice floor in here,
04:19so it's easy clean up,
04:21easy for water spilling.
04:23So up here at Nine Mile,
04:25there is no running water.
04:26There is a shower.
04:27It's a gravity feed.
04:29Barrel fills up.
04:30You have the ability to take a cold shower
04:32that goes to a holding tank.
04:34Other than that,
04:35there is no plumbing here at Nine Mile.
04:37Things are going good in the bathroom.
04:39Floor's going to be watertight in no time.
04:42We did the math.
04:43We have enough log side to do these two sides
04:45to work on the back,
04:47but to stretch everything out,
04:49we have some drops of one-by material.
04:51I'm going to start cutting them
04:52and stain them for up there.
04:53So we have log siding down here.
04:55We'll stain the other stuff to match as well,
04:56so it's going to look really good.
04:57It's all going to be new.
04:58You know, we had enough leftover siding and boards
05:00to make the old outbuilding look perfect.
05:03You know, I've got to admire Chase
05:04because last, in the last week,
05:06I saw that old outhouse.
05:07I was like, can we fix that?
05:08Chase, we're like kids.
05:09They say, can we get an ice cream arm?
05:10Can we get it?
05:11And he won't say yes, won't say yes.
05:12You know, he had to know that there's materials left over
05:14and there's time you guys can do it,
05:15but he will not say it until he knows.
05:17Boom.
05:19And then we had enough to make a nice ramp
05:21so no one's going to have to worry about steps
05:23going in the outhouse at night.
05:25Yeah, it looks great.
05:26Right?
05:27I think it's almost good enough
05:28to make a sauna out of it.
05:29Uh, guys, got the outhouse ramp
05:30and the railing all done.
05:31We're going to get rid of that.
05:33I got the bathroom floor all done
05:34and taken care of.
05:36Now it's jumping on to the next.
05:40We need to figure out what height
05:41we want our beds at.
05:42I envision the top bunks being used the least.
05:46The little kids need at least this much space, right?
05:49Just sit up.
05:50A little kid.
05:51Is this about the size of a little kid?
05:53Today, Fletcher's not here,
05:55so I decided to step in and take Fletcher's position.
05:58So I asked my brother what I could do to help him
06:01just be a mini Fletcher today.
06:03I'm not quite sure how Fletcher
06:04wore this hat the whole time.
06:07It's way too hot.
06:08This is an outside hat.
06:09The ceilings upstairs are really low,
06:11so we needed to design the bunk beds
06:13so that the person on the bottom bunk
06:15had enough space to sit down comfortably
06:17and not have to sit on the floor,
06:19and then kind of be able to sit up
06:21with leaving enough space for the person on the top bunk
06:24to have a little bit of headroom.
06:26Oh, boy.
06:28This one is too long, guys.
06:30I don't want to break into these windows.
06:32There's only two top bunks.
06:33We assume that those are probably going to be for the children,
06:36so you don't need as much headroom,
06:37so we had to keep that in mind.
06:39Hopefully it'll flip up.
06:41We're hopefully going to flip it up.
06:43We might need some more help.
06:46Might not make it.
06:49Oh, dang it off, Chase.
06:51Ah, it's not going to make it.
06:52All right.
06:53Chop them off.
06:55So these are going to be the bed frames, right?
06:58And then these are just temporary legs
07:00to see what height we want the beds to be.
07:03We're trying to figure out the height that they can be,
07:05but in order for us to flip it over,
07:07we have to cut off these ends
07:09because we cannot flip the bed
07:11because these ends are too tall.
07:13Now he's going to cut them off,
07:14and then we're going to try flipping it again.
07:16Put on your safety goggles.
07:19Now he's cutting them off,
07:21and then we're going to try flipping it again.
07:23Just like that.
07:28Matt, may we use your assistance?
07:30We have a need of assistance.
07:31We have a need of assistance.
07:32There we go.
07:33Oh, man.
07:34Would you look at that?
07:35Just look at that.
07:36All right.
07:37Back.
07:40Which way is it going?
07:42This way?
07:43Yeah.
07:44That's plenty of room for a kid.
07:45That's plenty of room for an adult.
07:48This is good.
07:49Just like this.
07:50Send it.
07:51Okay.
07:52We have to notch out our 4x4s.
07:54Those will go on the two ends.
07:56You're making some fancy beds.
07:58I'm making them sturdy.
07:59And then what's going to go on the other ends?
08:01On the other end, we have to do 2x4s
08:03because we don't have enough 4x4s.
08:05Great.
08:06I mean, you can cut a bunch of slats at 40.
08:07Okay.
08:08Because we're just going to run a strip, a strip,
08:11and then across it.
08:13Let's go show me which ones you want me to cut out at 40s.
08:15Okay.
08:16Okay.
08:17So what were my numbers?
08:1840.
08:1940.
08:20My age.
08:2140.
08:2240.
08:23Right now, we've got these guys out here building some benches,
08:25getting them sanded down, routed up, getting them stained.
08:28We'll have a nice little seating area outside for these.
08:31I'm finishing up the bathroom.
08:33Got my threshold.
08:34Last piece to go, and the bathroom's done.
08:37I need 8, 76 and a half.
08:411 and a half.
08:42Pressure treated?
08:432x4s is what I need.
08:458 of them at 76 and a half.
08:47Well, 8, 8 of the halfies.
08:50Right?
08:5270, I need 8.
08:552x4s at.
08:56No.
08:57I need 8, 76 ones long.
09:01And that are 1 and a half.
09:02That's not how you say that.
09:04Look.
09:05You say I need 8 2x4s at 76 and a half.
09:08But I don't need 8.
09:09I only need 4.
09:10I only need 8.
09:13So 4, you need 4 2x4s at 76 and a half.
09:17Let's start with one thing.
09:18I need 8 of them.
09:19Because once you cut them in half, they're going to be 1.5 by 2 and a half, 2 inches.
09:24Right?
09:25Yeah.
09:26Chase.
09:27She needs help.
09:28What?
09:29What does she need?
09:30I need 4 2x4s ripped.
09:31Right?
09:32Yeah.
09:33We cut it at 76 and a half.
09:3476 and a quarter.
09:35Four of them ripped in half.
09:36Half and a half and a half and a half and a half.
09:37Winked was.
09:38That's what I said.
09:39All right.
09:40I'm on it.
09:41That's not what you said.
09:42That is what I said, isn't it?
09:47Noah and his family had asked for about sleeping space for 8 to 10 people.
09:53And it was one wide open room.
09:55He wanted a little bit of privacy.
09:57We kind of just built those partition walls just to give just a little bit of privacy.
10:02Oh yeah, I know.
10:03It looks really good.
10:04It definitely gives you privacy and it's definitely going to give you plenty of space.
10:07I like it.
10:08It was cool.
10:09The bunk beds, it was 4x4 posts, 2x6 bed frames.
10:14My dad used to make these for me all the time.
10:17No, I'm really good at them.
10:20I'm a stilter.
10:21I want them higher though.
10:23Thanks.
10:24You're going to make another pair for me later, okay?
10:29Put it on the bottom right there, this end, this end.
10:32You could only fit so many beds in the space, but you put a bunk bed in, you double your
10:36sleeping space.
10:37So we built two sets of bunk beds and just making sure everything was supported and really
10:42locked together.
10:43You know, we've been here for a week working hard.
10:45We never really thought about covering our lumber over.
10:47That's what happens when a pressure tree that sits in the sun and doesn't get covered
10:50or weighted down.
10:52I'll get one board out of it.
10:54Why do these guys decide to put all of their tools in the heat?
10:59If I were them, I would put my tools right in the shade.
11:03But I'm not them.
11:05I guess I am them today though.
11:07Today, I kind of figured out why the guys don't put the tools in the shade.
11:10It's because there is no shade on this job site.
11:12I'll stand in my shade like this.
11:14I'll make shade.
11:15Oh, yeah.
11:16Look, you've got to make shade.
11:18So then I just made my own shade.
11:20I had big thick boards.
11:21Boom.
11:22Set them there while you're waiting.
11:23Hide behind the shade.
11:26Benches are gone.
11:28A lot of skates are gone.
11:30What next?
11:31So what I'm doing is insulating underneath where we reach the
11:35frame for this window.
11:37The old insulation that was in there had a lot of mice stuff in it.
11:41So I'm insulating it with rigid foam.
11:43Saved all the pieces.
11:44I'm going to pull the nails and reinstall everything.
11:47So I've got all the V match back on the wall.
11:50Now I'm just using the old trim, milling it to fit the new window,
11:54which is a little bit smaller than the existing window.
11:56And we're going to use all the old trim pieces to put it back on.
11:59Since the top trim, people have signed since the 90s.
12:02So we're going to reuse that.
12:04I mean, I could have had someone help me, but it was a lot of deciphering everything,
12:07putting it back together, making sure it looked like it always had been.
12:12So that's pretty much it for the window.
12:15Window trim.
12:16Filling in all of this.
12:17We tried to save everything as much as possible to reuse.
12:20Obviously, we wanted to save this for sure because it shows Bruce Meringue.
12:2511 point of 240 pound deer.
12:29Put it all back together.
12:30Now I'm just cleaning it up and moving on to the next projects that we have left.
12:36Ashley!
12:37Yeah?
12:38Come up here.
12:39Okay.
12:40Yes, sir.
12:41Climb up there and tell me what you think.
12:42Climb up there?
12:43No.
12:44Oh.
12:45Oh, test it out.
12:46Oh, we got the beds up?
12:49Oh.
12:50Oh, yeah.
12:51Why would you show me a place where I can rest?
12:54Well, my tent is really comfy, so I'm not moving back in.
12:58Ah!
12:59Wait, wait, wait.
13:00I need to get down.
13:02Okay.
13:03This is what brothers do to sisters.
13:04That's what's gonna happen.
13:05Okay.
13:06Good job.
13:07Now let's build another one.
13:08Yeah.
13:09When I got into that top bunk, it was definitely roomy enough.
13:10I don't think I'd sleep up there unless I had to.
13:11If it was the only bed left, yes.
13:12Just because I don't want to sit up in the middle of the night.
13:13This looks like a legit place to sleep now with all these little pods.
13:28One more wall for after lunch and one more bunk bed.
13:31This place is done up here.
13:34Watch that sink don't bend.
13:36Yeah.
13:37Steve and Brad were replacing the kitchen countertop.
13:41It's not the same layout.
13:42It was just one corner, so they had to cut back the kitchen cabinets and extend out the
13:47left side to give a little bit more workspace in the kitchen.
13:54Just building a D-back door for the bathroom.
13:56Get that built.
13:57Get that installed.
13:58Then the bathroom's all done.
13:59We can walk away from it.
14:04I've got my Z-back door all built.
14:06Chase and I were just discussing which way we want this door to open.
14:10Ideally, we want it to open this way so we don't cover up our light switches once the
14:15door opens on the inside.
14:16So I've got to take this shelf out.
14:19Then I can put my hinges on.
14:20We'll have a nice bathroom door here.
14:22And you'll get a little privacy in the privy.
14:25Knocking them off.
14:26So we're getting down on projects.
14:30I figured a little pressure to the left.
14:31I'll at least make Francis' base.
14:33And after lunch, we can go put some temporary legs in.
14:36We'll slide on the stairs.
14:37We'll backfill it with shale.
14:38It'll be perfect.
14:39Francis helped us a bunch this week, so it's good to be able to help him.
14:43And he kept us fed the last couple weeks.
14:45The guys last week built the steps.
14:46They didn't have long enough material to make the stringers.
14:48So they could only go so far.
14:49It left us a little short.
14:50We were going to build it up with material.
14:51We're excited to box it in, fill it with shale, and we'll put some stones on it.
14:54It'll be beautiful.
15:15You want a hand?
15:16What do you want me to do?
15:17I'm finished up downstairs.
15:18Let's go look at the list, Brad.
15:20Everything on the punch list is pretty much wrapped up.
15:22I think that's all that's left is up here.
15:24But what else do you want me to do?
15:26Everything?
15:27Have you crossed it off the list?
15:29Not yet, Ashley.
15:30Hold on.
15:31Take this out.
15:32Could you even hear us?
15:34Yeah.
15:35He chooses not to.
15:36He had on his earplugs this whole time.
15:38Do you want any shelves or benches?
15:42Because we have some one by 12 left that could make nice.
15:45If you want to make benches, sure.
15:47But I do have some coming.
15:49I could cancel my order and we could make them here.
15:51When we have time, we have the material.
15:53We could have a shelf on each one.
15:55Look, check this out, guys.
15:57Could have a shelf right here.
15:59And then maybe a little coat rack.
16:02However many of those, we've got the one by 12.
16:04We might as well burn it up.
16:05So one, two, three, four, five.
16:09Five.
16:10Five would be great.
16:11Thanks.
16:12Yeah.
16:13Cool.
16:14Want me to help you?
16:15Yeah, I would love it.
16:16Let's go.
16:17All right, Brad.
16:18We've got to add this to the list, though,
16:20so that we have the satisfaction of crossing it off.
16:23It's a good idea.
16:24Makes it look like we've got more done.
16:26Shelves for pods.
16:27Five of them.
16:28In each one of the pods, I wanted to have a shelf and a coat rack.
16:32Originally, I was asked my design assistant, Heidi,
16:36to bring up some hooks that we were just going to screw on.
16:39But then Chase kind of suggested that he saw some old dead branches
16:43out behind the new outhouse.
16:45So I went out there, and they were perfect.
16:47Do we want them to be this big or that big?
16:50This big might be better.
16:51OK.
16:52Right?
16:53Yeah.
16:54Easier to get a screw into.
16:55I don't hate that, do you?
16:56Nope.
16:59All right, go try it out.
17:00Tell me if you like it.
17:01We had to cut straight out.
17:03Straight out?
17:04Yeah.
17:05The angles, there's no room left.
17:07OK.
17:08I like it straight out better.
17:09Straight out.
17:13There's all this wood out here.
17:15So we went out and found some old dead branches.
17:18Brad just kind of chopped them up,
17:20and they made perfect little coat hangers.
17:22Those came out really good, Brad and Steve.
17:24Good job, Ashley.
17:25You guys did a really good job.
17:27I have all the proper bug gear.
17:30So today, I put on my bug suit.
17:32Don't bug me, Chase.
17:36You can't bug me no matter what you do.
17:37Ow!
17:38Oh, see?
17:39Bugs can get you.
17:40Bugs can get you.
17:41Bugs can get you.
17:42Bugs can get you.
17:43Only if they're my brother.
17:45Head to toe bug suit.
17:47All right.
17:48Thank you, Steve.
17:49Those are awesome, aren't they?
17:50That's so rad.
17:52I'm sorry that we bugged you.
17:57Shelves for pods.
17:58Done.
17:59Get him upstairs.
18:00Slider door.
18:01I think that's duh.
18:02They still working on that?
18:03Maybe.
18:04Builds canoe rack.
18:05That's Brad next after he helps me to the shelves.
18:08I'm running away.
18:10Back steps landing.
18:11They're doing that right now.
18:12Drip edge.
18:13Fire pit cleanup.
18:16Not much left.
18:21That's a wrap.
18:22Let's go swimming.
18:23Excuse me.
18:24Look at what we just did.
18:25Look at all that.
18:26Look at all of it.
18:27You guys rock.
18:28Seriously.
18:29Plus extra.
18:30We did extra too.
18:31Yeah.
18:32We all deserve to get out of here and go swimming.
18:33Let's do it.
18:34All right.
18:35Okay.
18:36Boom.
18:37Let's go.
18:38Everybody pushed today to get that punch list done so that we enjoy where we are.
18:41Tomorrow we're going to take a little time and pack up everything we don't need.
18:45And we can send the guys home and they can get home before it gets dark.
18:56We topped off the vehicles?
18:58Yeah.
18:59Okay.
19:01Where's Heidi and Ali?
19:02Where are they?
19:03First thing in the morning here.
19:04Week two.
19:05Couple days into it.
19:06Just waiting on the design team to get here.
19:08We've pretty much tied everything up.
19:10Packing up.
19:11Fueling up.
19:12Loading up.
19:13Getting ready to hit the road.
19:17There we go.
19:18All right.
19:19Now we're just replacing a few of these two by fours that were on this bench.
19:23A lot of these older ones were rotted as you can see.
19:26Just kind of passing some time.
19:27Getting ready to help design out.
19:29So figure we'll replace these.
19:31Have a nice little bench for the fire.
19:33Get out of the road.
19:34Get out of the road.
19:35Get out of the road.
19:36Heidi's coming.
19:37Middle of week two.
19:38We still have so much to do.
19:39We have canoe racks to build.
19:40We have an archery area to build.
19:43My team is going to be showing up any minute.
19:45We have the whole place to clean and then stage.
19:47And there's technically only going to be three of us.
19:49So it's going to be a lot of work.
19:51Oh look.
19:52She found it.
19:53I hope it's her.
19:54Or else I'm waving to strangers.
19:55She's going to think I'm waving to her.
19:56But really I'm just swatting away all these horrible bugs.
19:59Hey.
20:00Hi.
20:01We made it.
20:02We found it.
20:03Yay.
20:04Safe and sound.
20:05Cleaning and design team.
20:07Mostly cleaning.
20:08How are the dusty roads?
20:10Very, very dusty.
20:11Dusty.
20:12Everything that they bought is full of dust.
20:13It looks great.
20:14Yeah.
20:15We've been working hard.
20:16Everybody just left all the subs over here.
20:18Why are you screaming at Heidi?
20:19She's here to help.
20:20Happy to see you.
20:21So yeah.
20:22Why don't I give you a nice tour of the camp.
20:24Okay.
20:25Perfect.
20:26Design team.
20:27We'll be on the bench.
20:28Just grab the bullpen phone and give us a call when you need us.
20:41Beautiful.
20:46I bought this solar array, Jared, for my tent so I could have some lights.
20:50Instead of hauling it home, I figured we could set the lights up in the outhouse.
20:54Yeah.
20:55I've got four panels, a battery maintainer, and a bunch of lights.
20:59If you want, we can put this in and hook everything up.
21:02Cool.
21:03Yeah.
21:04Let's do it.
21:05Let's shed a light on this, Jared.
21:06I've bought a couple of these small solar arrays before.
21:09They're just real convenient to have because you can have lights, you can charge batteries.
21:15It's all pretty much plug and go.
21:17It all has ends on it, so you just basically plug everything in.
21:20It has a battery minder.
21:22You just plug it into the battery minder and alligator clip your negative terminal and your positive terminal, and you've got power.
21:29Because you really kind of want to be chasing the sun.
21:31Either that or we can put them right up here.
21:33I mean, they all fit right up here in the corner.
21:35Sun's starting over here.
21:36It's going to get, oh, it'll be noontime, one o'clock before it leaves.
21:42Cord's long enough to come right up here.
21:44Yeah.
21:45So maybe we just stack them right in here.
21:47Yeah.
21:48They're kind of out of the way.
21:49Run a cord back in.
21:50Yeah.
21:51We can run.
21:52I got one extension cord that will get us up to here.
21:54Let's see if we run with that.
21:55Okay.
21:56Technology nowadays is just really surpassing the whole off-grid camping.
22:00You can pretty much equip yourself, so you can stay on-grid no matter how deep into the woods you go.
22:05It's charging.
22:06Battery's got 14.4 volts.
22:12Last thing to do is shut the doors and get on out of here.
22:16Yeah.
22:27Couple A's.
22:30You make two of these and screw them together.
22:32Build a canoe rack to hold as many canoes as we can.
22:35We're gonna go A-frame, bend.
22:37A-frame, bend.
22:38Tie them together and then tie across to put four canoes on.
22:43Is that what you're thinking?
22:44We've got enough to do three.
22:45Okay.
22:46So we can do three.
22:47That way we'll know it will hold.
22:48You cut the same angle, marry them together, screw them together.
22:51We'll do it a couple different times.
22:53Just a basic truss.
22:55Just a basic truss.
22:57We had a bunch of pressure-treated 6x6s and 2x4s left over.
23:01Chase and I had decided that we were gonna basically make two A-frames out of the 6x6s.
23:08And then we're gonna lock it all together with the pressure-treated 2x4s.
23:12Put a couple braces just a little.
23:14Braces in there.
23:15And then stand them.
23:16Then stand them.
23:17We'll take a look at it.
23:18Same.
23:19Same.
23:20Ah!
23:21Same mile!
23:22Where does he want the canoe at?
23:25Oh, I was gonna put it down.
23:26He had it over there.
23:27You probably want it so you can't see it from the road, right?
23:30I would say yeah, probably.
23:31Okay.
23:32Do you want to carry it over where it's gonna go?
23:34Okay.
23:35You ready?
23:40Oh, looking good.
23:41I know.
23:42We're almost done with the kitchen and then we could give it a big sweep.
23:44Yeah, let's do that.
23:45Give it a big sweep.
23:46Do you want to get Jedi or one of the guys out there that's not doing anything to set up the Adirondack?
23:49Adirondack chairs and then there's a patio set too.
23:52Patio set could probably go on the porch up there.
23:54Yeah.
23:55That's all ready to go.
23:56All right, because this is going fast.
23:57That sounds good.
23:58We're moving.
23:59Which one do you want to start with, Ashley?
24:01Have you put this together before?
24:03Nope.
24:04Got some really nice Adirondack chairs that needed to be assembled.
24:07So Ryan and Jedi assembled those for me.
24:09All right, so my Uncle Bruce, always.
24:11Yeah?
24:12You'd never see him without a red felt hat.
24:14Oh yeah, mine.
24:15These are in honor of him.
24:16They're not necessarily felt.
24:17But we're going to honor Uncle Bruce today.
24:20Uncle Bruce is married to Martha and Martha is my dad's sister.
24:23It's very rare that you saw my Uncle Bruce without his red felt hat on.
24:27I thought it would just be a nice way to remember him and to honor him.
24:30You got a fat head one?
24:32No.
24:33You could make it fit.
24:35He wore it like that and it was always dirty.
24:38Dirty?
24:39Yeah.
24:40Yeah, I was going to do the same thing.
24:41Dirty it up.
24:42Make it your own.
24:44But don't lose it.
24:46Hey there, let's get the canoe rack fixed up.
24:49Like a pit crew almost.
24:50We're getting there.
24:51Oh, much better.
24:55Okay.
24:56It looks pretty even, doesn't it?
24:57Yep.
24:59Yep.
25:00Yep.
25:01How's your canoe rack coming?
25:02Great.
25:03You done?
25:05No?
25:07No.
25:08Pretty close to it, huh?
25:09Here, cheers, Uncle Bruce.
25:12All of the major build components were done.
25:14Francis is putting down some flat stones around the fireplace, around the back door.
25:18I hope Uncle Bruce is pretty happy with this.
25:23Trying to follow his style.
25:25Besides the canoe rack and the archery range, it's all kind of the final touches, the icing on the cake.
25:31Four canoes, four of us, we could race.
25:34If we weren't racing Mother Nature.
25:36What are these two Bugattis doing?
25:39Oh, they're going high.
25:40No, I'm not going.
25:42Okay, yeah, we're going high.
25:44Walk it over.
25:45Just give me a minute.
25:46Walk it towards Jedi.
25:48Keep walking.
25:49Hey, guys.
25:51I gotcha.
25:52Oh, Jedi's got this.
25:54He's portaged before.
25:56Show off.
25:58Just kidding, thank you.
25:59So, I know what you guys are going to say.
26:01That you're done.
26:02Can we get some help over here, please?
26:04Pretty, please?
26:07Can we get some help over here, please?
26:09Pretty, please?
26:10A couple big strong men, please?
26:12It's a beautiful day up here at Nine Mile.
26:14Just about at the end of week two.
26:17My design team is extremely busy.
26:19Tell Ashley I found a bench.
26:21Do you want a boot rack over there?
26:24Do you want the table over there?
26:26In the archery range?
26:27Can we just decide we're doing it over there?
26:29That's the cleanest alley.
26:30Do you want me to start getting that platform set?
26:32Yeah, sure.
26:33Okay.
26:34Maybe trim that bush over there a little bit.
26:36You want a machete?
26:37That's all right.
26:41Noah also mentioned that his boys are into archery,
26:43and they would love a safe area where they could shoot their bows and arrows.
26:48And we had a couple of tires that sidewalls were slashed.
26:51They were no good.
26:52Jedi had a great idea of turning that into a target.
27:01Our faces aren't going to be on this target either, are they?
27:03Never.
27:04So we have these blown out tires.
27:05They're not old.
27:06We've just have been going through tires like crazy on the trip.
27:09So instead of hauling them out of here, Jared and I came up with the idea that we were going to just fill it with the rigid foam insulation,
27:17maybe put some plywood or some boards on the back, and then we can hang the target on the front, and we'll have something clean to shoot at.
27:24This trip has eaten tires on both ends, our subs and ourselves.
27:29Basically had a bunch of rigid foam left over, and we cut the backside of the tire out, stuffed it right full of foam.
27:36We were able to utilize what we had on hand and put some wood on the back, and we were able to make a kind of like an easel type of target out of it.
27:43All my bug stickers came.
27:45The green stickers, they're like a citronella smell, which is supposed to help with...
27:49Where's my bug bag?
27:50With the bugs.
27:53Heidi must have grabbed this stuff.
27:54What did you get?
27:56We got our delivery.
27:57What color is that for?
27:58Oh, this is for my other bug thing.
27:59I ordered this ball thinking that it was going to be blue, and then I was going to apply the goo.
28:04Well, the ball came black, so I ordered some blue paint.
28:07Same idea.
28:08You paint the ball.
28:09The bugs are attracted to that ball.
28:11Then you put goo on it, and you just kind of hang it in a common area, and all the horse flies will go to that instead of here.
28:17I even have some rope inside.
28:19Give me one minute.
28:20You got this project by yourself in one second?
28:22Yeah, totally.
28:23That's code for she abandoned you.
28:26I'm not painting these, right?
28:28Oh, yeah.
28:29No, stop.
28:30No, you're done, but...
28:32She left you.
28:33Just like that.
28:34Just like that, she gone.
28:35Just like that.
28:36You just got Ashley.
28:37Let's take five.
28:38Want to?
28:39I had some stuff going on.
28:41I had a drip bed, clean up lunch.
28:44She's really, really good at delegating.
28:46You'd be lucky.
28:47She's going to have you move in those recliners and loveseats.
28:49No way.
28:50Oh.
28:53She's gone.
28:54Trust me, I know.
28:55Oh, look at those.
28:56Are they dry?
28:58No!
29:04One of my balls blew off the table, landed in the dirt.
29:08No, no, it's so sticky.
29:10I think it is camouflage.
29:12The bugs are going to be like,
29:13oh, look at that nice grass and that pretty blue.
29:16And then they're going to go check it out,
29:17and then they're going to go...
29:18I'm almost like ready for Christmas.
29:20Come on.
29:21I got my little Christmas tree.
29:23My wife spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars online
29:25for bug and mosquito repellent.
29:27And I think she's pretty happy that this week happens
29:30so she can bring out all the tools and her tricks
29:31and her bag of bug stuff.
29:33Probably a $20 sticker that my wife bought 50 of
29:36that supposedly keeps mosquitoes away,
29:38but I don't know if you just roll the footage back two seconds
29:40and see how the bugs are buffing.
29:45So this was already naturally here, Chase?
29:46You just cleaned it up?
29:47Yeah.
29:48Sweet.
29:49That area for the kids is absolutely perfect.
29:51This family is going to be so excited.
29:53This is like the coolest.
29:55Love that it's hidden so that then we can surprise them with it
29:58because they are going to freak out.
30:00It's the middle of winter.
30:01We haven't eaten in months.
30:03You're down to one arrow.
30:05Okay?
30:08Breathe in through your nostrils.
30:09Out through your mouth.
30:10Look at that form.
30:11Just look at the arch of his back.
30:13Oh!
30:14Where'd that one go?
30:15I hit the target.
30:16The idea to make the target out of an old tire
30:19that he busted and then with some extra insulation board
30:22that they had lying around and then the extra wood.
30:25It's such a great idea.
30:26That's a really nice target.
30:28Yeah, it was a great idea.
30:29Yeah.
30:30I'm really just happy, overall happy with everything today.
30:32Who's up?
30:35Oh!
30:36I've got a deal to make with you guys.
30:38I have some really heavy furniture that still needs to be moved in.
30:42I cleared all the vehicles out so that we can pull it out of the woods
30:46and then drive it right to the back door.
30:48Please, if I hit the target, will you guys?
30:50If you hit the target once, we will help you move furniture.
30:52Okay.
30:53Okay.
30:55Okay.
30:56Ah!
30:57Now go ahead.
30:58Shoot it?
30:59Yep.
31:00You missed.
31:01Oh!
31:02Yes!
31:03That means you guys have to help me!
31:04Ha ha!
31:06Do it one more time.
31:07You can't act your way out of this one.
31:08Nice try.
31:09Do it one more time.
31:10Nice try.
31:11We were kind of watching Ashley, so she was trying to play with the magic of TV like she hit it.
31:15And no one would see it.
31:16And she almost got us and went, pfft, we haven't been doing this for too long.
31:19We know.
31:20You guys gotta go back to work!
31:21Nope, nope.
31:22Someone on your team has to hit it.
31:23She's not an actor.
31:24You know, everyone asks if this isn't staged.
31:26We're not actors.
31:27I can tell you that.
31:28Pull the trigger.
31:29That one was close.
31:30Yeah!
31:31Well, Heidi, you have a chance.
31:33Heidi's here.
31:34Okay.
31:35Heidi, you got one shot to hit the target.
31:37She has one?
31:38Heidi, you hit this target.
31:39We need help.
31:40Ashley, go get your arrows for Heidi.
31:41Go have one shot.
31:42I'm not gonna get my arrows until after Heidi shoots one.
31:45She's gonna shoot one.
31:46I mean, that compound ball was not easy.
31:47And Ashley was down to one last shot.
31:49Heidi came in.
31:50I think she might have played us a little bit.
31:52Oh, hold still.
31:53Hold still.
31:54Hold still.
31:55No!
31:57Yay!
31:58Wow!
31:59She's out!
32:00Yes!
32:01Yes, Heidi!
32:02Yes!
32:03Yes!
32:04We'll see you over at the chairs.
32:05Thanks, Dan.
32:06See you over at the chairs.
32:07See you over at the chairs.
32:08Dixie, you're so good at helping them.
32:11We'll see you over there.
32:13She hit that like a pro.
32:15I was not expecting that.
32:17And most of the things are in place.
32:20It's just gonna be, like, kinda putting in the finishing touches
32:23and moving out the stuff.
32:25Well, looks like, uh...
32:27Oh, working hard.
32:28Yeah, looks like you guys are done in here, huh?
32:30Oh, yeah.
32:31We've been outside holding down the tents.
32:33We are in pretty good shape.
32:34Yeah.
32:35We have a plan.
32:36We have everything in.
32:37Everything's in place.
32:38We just have to kind of put things in more places.
32:40Well, there's only one thing to say, Chase.
32:44Good job, guys.
32:45Good job, team.
32:46Good job, guys.
32:47Good job.
32:48Good job.
32:49Good job.
32:50Good job.
32:51It's been great working with you.
32:52Good job.
32:53Oh, wow.
32:54Complete faith.
32:55That's just like I was saying.
32:56I'm gonna need a break from them.
32:57Traitor, you traitor.
32:58I'm gonna need a week vacation from them.
33:07I see.
33:08There you are.
33:09It's been a really fun two weeks.
33:11We all just came together as a team, as a crew.
33:13It's very rare that we get to do builds like this.
33:16But now we're ready to give the camp back to Noah and his family.
33:19I hear them.
33:20Is that a moose?
33:21Cue the moose.
33:26Does that sound like a moose?
33:27We need Ryan here.
33:30Let's go meet him.
33:32That's never gonna call him in.
33:34This is very exciting.

34:03Hi.
34:04My wife, Lane was able to make it up.
34:05And I'm really happy for her to see the outhouse because that was always a sticking point.
34:08I'm like, honey, let's go to camp.
34:09Let's go to camp.
34:10Let's go to camp.
34:11She's like, no.

34:20Don't cry.
34:21It was...
34:22Never thought it would ever be anything like this.
34:24A lot has happened in two weeks.
34:26Oh, my God.
34:27I can tell.
34:28Two weeks.
34:29Look at the door.
34:30Shut the door.
34:31Let's go.
34:32Let's go.
34:33At the front door.

34:35We wanted to add a little something, so we put our logo on it for you guys.
34:38So you'll never forget us.
34:39Beautiful.
34:40Wow.
34:41As if we ever could.
34:42Not that you would.
34:43How could you do this in that length of time?
34:45How could this have happened?
34:47Oh.
34:48They are magic.
34:49About 20 people.
34:50Yeah.
34:51But priority was getting it jacked and level, getting the demo done, and getting the new
34:55outhouse built.
34:56That was definitely priority number one and two.
35:00Yeah.
35:01And then we went through new log siding.
35:05We went with just a vertical pine lattice.
35:08We looked so different.
35:09Looks so nice.
35:10This is gorgeous, guys.

36:38Whoa.
36:39I was so blown away with the sectioning off, the way that they did the bunk beds and the
36:57little privacy areas.
36:59Amazing transformation.
37:02Oh, my gosh.
37:03Oh, yeah.

37:36Go check it out.
37:40You got a spot where you can stand and shoot?
37:42Oh, wow.
37:43It's a very dramatic transformation.
37:45Structurally, it's still camp, which we love.
37:48You can still feel the vibe and sense the building.
37:51Let's watch Max shoot.
37:52Here he goes.
37:53Can you hit the target?
37:54Wow.
37:55So close.
37:56You'll get that dialed in.
37:57Oh, yeah.
37:58They will.
37:59Just seeing this culminate into what it is right now is a tremendously emotional experience.
38:05And, you know, we're beyond grateful.
38:07The old canoe rack was kind of unsightly in the way.
38:11Yeah.
38:12You know, you'd ask for an easier way to store canoes, so.
38:14Oh, this is perfect.
38:15Perfect, perfect.
38:16All right.
38:17Let's continue on.
38:18Is it a his and a hers or just a two-holer?
38:21It can be whatever you want it to be.
38:23Yeah, so Dixie had a solar array that he wanted to donate to the project.
38:27And he wired in some lights.
38:28Well, thank him.

38:39Functioning and yet elegant.
38:43It's just very nice.
38:44Before we give the keys back, I've got one more thing.

38:51It's a surprise.
38:54Ta-da!
38:55Hey!
38:56Aw!

39:00For the cabin masters to still have a touch of the old camp and bringing in the new.
39:07And it's just amazing.
39:08We had two weeks and $40,000.
39:11We had a lot of fun up here.
39:13A lot of fun.
39:14We'll be back.

39:21You're very, very, very welcome.
39:22Now it's time to go get the rest of the family and show them.
39:25Oh, they will love it.
39:26Yeah.
39:27I'd like to say thank you to the main cabin masters.
39:30The tradition goes on.
