00:00Not getting on with your LG TVs picture? Here are some tips and tricks to get the
00:08very best picture quality out of your TV. The first thing you'll want to do is
00:12turn off the energy saving step. To do this, access the picture settings, scroll
00:16down to general and then scroll down to energy saving. Energy saving step is the
00:21top option and is set to auto by default. You'll want to turn this off as it can
00:25really hamper your TVs brightness and overall picture. Out of the box your LG
00:29TV is also now likely to come in the auto power save preset by default. While
00:34great for energy saving it's going to give your TV a dim appearance so let's
00:37change it. You should also avoid vivid mode as this will make the picture look
00:40oversaturated and inaccurate. I personally opt for filmmaker mode as I find this to
00:46be the most accurate in terms of contrast and colour when I test TVs. For those
00:50looking for something a little brighter but still accurate, cinema is a great
00:54choice. It maintains those accurate picture elements but adds a boost in
00:58brightness. Regardless of what picture mode you use, you'll want to turn off some of
01:02the hidden picture quality settings that could be affecting your LG TV's
01:05picture quality. The big culprits can be found in the clarity section of the
01:09picture settings. Make sure that settings like super resolution and smooth
01:13gradation are both turned off because they can give an unnatural look to
01:17textures and details. To improve motion for movies and TV shows, navigate to
01:21clarity in picture settings, scroll down to true motion and select cinematic
01:25movement. This should reduce any judder in 24fps movies but doesn't go so far as
01:31to create the dreaded soap opera effect. For sports fans I actually don't
01:35recommend the sports mode because it's too oversaturated. My tip is to use
01:38standard mode but go to the clarity setting and set true motion to natural. I
01:43think this works best for fast-paced sports. There's also a user selection
01:48mode where you can set your own blur and judder settings and I found setting
01:51these two around three also works really well for sports.
