00:04Here are the best picture settings to make the LG G5 OLED TV look great.
00:12The first thing you'll want to do is turn off the energy saving step. To do this, access
00:17settings, scroll down to general, then select energy saving. Then you'll see energy saving
00:22step. Turn this off. This will increase the G5's brightness to make the most of that
00:27new, brighter, 4-stack OLED panel. We found during our testing that Filmmaker mode
00:35is the best picture mode. This is because it proves the most accurate picture in terms
00:39of colour, contrast and detail, while also still providing a nice hit of brightness.
00:44Access the settings, select picture mode and choose Filmmaker mode.
00:51We have some tips that can make Filmmaker mode even better though. Go into advanced settings,
00:55select brightness, scroll down to gamma, and change it from the default BT-1886 to 2.2.
01:04This helps to bring out more shadow detail in high contrast and darker scenes. It's worth
01:09noting this is only for SDR Filmmaker mode. In HDR and Dolby Vision, the gamma is locked
01:14at the optimal 2.2 level by default.
01:21After this, you'll want to make sure the new Filmmaker mode ambient light feature is on.
01:25This is one of the more effective ambient light modes we've come across and works well to
01:29make dark detail stand out more in bright rooms, or to refine the brightness in dark rooms.
01:34To find this, go to advanced settings, select brightness, and scroll down to the bottom and
01:40toggle Filmmaker ambient light mode on. You'll also want to make sure Filmmaker mode auto-start is on,
01:46so Filmmaker mode is always used when you're watching movies.
01:53We found that these were really the only picture settings you needed to change,
01:56as Filmmaker mode was accurate out of the box. Even its motion, which is turned off by default,
02:01was accurate, though other picture modes such as standard or cinema, you'll want cinematic movement
02:06turned on. To do this, go to picture settings, select clarity, scroll down to true motion,
02:12and select cinematic movement. It's on by default in cinema or movie mode,
02:16but it's worth turning on if you use any other picture mode.
02:22If you're gaming, you'll want to activate boost mode in the game optimizer menu.
02:26With the TV in game mode, access the game optimizer menu, which can be found in general settings,
02:31and select prevent input lag delay, then select boost mode. This drops the G5's input lag from
02:37a respectable 12.9ms to an ultra-low 9.1ms for even smoother and more responsive gaming.
