00:01:14meaning that our ancestors witnessed extraterrestrials using advanced technology that they misinterpreted as something divine.

00:01:23Exactly. And we have a lot of examples of this in the Old Testament.

00:01:27And we're starting with the Ark of the Covenant, which is probably the greatest extraterrestrial device ever written about by our ancestors.

00:01:35Oh yeah, there's all sorts of divine powers attributed to the Ark that sound like a lost technology.

00:01:40We talked about this in a 2013 episode of Ancient Aliens, Aliens in the Lost Ark.

00:01:55Ten miles north of the Israeli settlement of Beid El.

00:02:00Archaeologists unearth clay pots, stoves, and a portion of a wall dating back to around 1300 B.C.

00:02:09But the most mundane of their findings here may also be the most significant, holes carved into the solid rock ground.

00:02:20Based on the location and the date of the artifacts, they believe these holes may have once held the wooden beams used to support the tabernacle at Shiloh.

00:02:32If true, it is the first physical evidence ever discovered of the ancient sanctuary built to house what is perhaps the most mysterious religious relic in the world.

00:02:47The story of the Ark of the Covenant is one of the most fascinating and unexplored stories of the Bible.

00:02:58The Ark of the Covenant had some very mysterious powers.

00:03:04The Ark of the Covenant was what took me out of mainstream journalism.

00:03:08I began to wonder, what could this thing have been?

00:03:11Reproductions of the Ark of the Covenant can be found in churches, synagogues, and Masonic temples throughout the world.

00:03:23It has even been featured in popular culture.

00:03:27But just what is the Ark of the Covenant?

00:03:30Mount Sinai, the 15th century BC.

00:03:40According to the Bible's Book of Exodus, after the Israelites were released from Egypt,

00:03:46God summoned Moses to the peak of this holy mountain

00:03:49and gave him two stone tablets carved with the Ten Commandments.

00:03:55He also gave him specific instructions for building the Ark of the Covenant.

00:04:01It was the box that was constructed to contain the two tablets of the Ten Commandments,

00:04:07which were irradiated with divine power because they had been touched by the finger of God.

00:04:14The covenant itself was a contract between God and the Israelites.

00:04:22I will be your God and protect you, provided you keep my commandments.

00:04:28Israel's end of the deal, then, was going to be kept in the box, which is the Ark itself.

00:04:38But the Ark of the Covenant didn't only carry the Ten Commandments.

00:04:42It was also said to be the throne of God himself.

00:04:49In the Book of Exodus, in the 25th chapter, the verse is very clear.

00:04:55God says to Moses,

00:04:56Asuli Mikdash b'shachanti b'tocham,

00:04:59Have them make me a holy place, and I, God, I will dwell among them.

00:05:04And wherever the Ark went, that power of God went with them.

00:05:08The Ark is built in a reflection of what's called a heavenly Ark.

00:05:19It was built two and a half cubits by one and a half cubits by one and a half cubits.

00:05:24So the Ark would have been somewhere in the ballpark of about a three-by-five-foot rectangular box.

00:05:31It was going to be covered with gold on the outside and the inside.

00:05:37And it was to have two gold rings at each of the four corners.

00:05:41And it was carried with poles that were run through the rings.

00:05:46And the orders were that the poles should never be removed from the rings.

00:05:51And the lid was to be made out of gold.

00:05:53And on each end of the lib were to be cherubim or guardian angels, basically, with wings.

00:06:03But why was it so important that the Ark be constructed to such exact specifications?

00:06:11And why would God, a spiritual being, require a physical throne here on Earth?

00:06:16Perhaps there is an answer in the Bible's description of Moses after he returned from Mount Sinai.

00:06:26After Moses came down from Mount Sinai, he was glowing, the Bible says, that he had to wear a scarf over his face.

00:06:34I am fascinated with the idea that Moses, all of a sudden, his appearance changed.

00:06:42And so the idea that Moses, all of a sudden, looked different, we have to ask ourselves, why?

00:06:53Just what did Moses encounter on Mount Sinai?

00:06:57Was it God?

00:06:58Or was it someone or something else?

00:07:04God is clearly an entity, not of this Earth, and by definition, therefore, extraterrestrial.

00:07:11Where does he come from?

00:07:13We must recognize that when the ancients are speaking about God,

00:07:17there is no other term that we can use to describe these experiences other than extraterrestrial.

00:07:28After the Ark was built and the Ten Commandments placed within it,

00:07:32the Israelites carried it with them on their 40-year exodus through the desert.

00:07:38The Ark of the Covenant was considered powerful because it was the meeting place of God and humanity.

00:07:46And so it had to be carried on pole so that it could be conveyed without being touched.

00:07:50Certain people were allowed to carry it, and those people were ordained priests.

00:07:58Aaron, Moses' brother, and his sons were certainly priests.

00:08:01It was a prestigious job.

00:08:04But you had to know what you were doing.

00:08:05Now, the Ark would be covered while they're carrying it with a cloth so that they really couldn't see what they were carrying.

00:08:14And they were given strict orders that they should not lift up the cloth and look at the Ark and try to see it.

00:08:21But why was the Ark considered so dangerous that it couldn't be touched or even looked at?

00:08:32According to the Old Testament accounts, the Ark of the Covenant was not only a powerful device on its own,

00:08:38it also housed a number of other important religious relics.

00:08:42In addition to the Ten Commandments, it held Aaron's rod, the staff that could miraculously turn into a serpent.

00:08:53It also held a jar of manna, an edible starch which reportedly came from the sky.

00:09:03What we begin to realize is that the Ark of the Covenant was a sort of toolkit.

00:09:08And once this toolkit was assembled, we have the fully functioning Ark of the Covenant.

00:09:15The Ark went before them in the wilderness and made sure the place where the children of Israel were to go

00:09:23would be safe and able to provide for them in the desert.

00:09:28If anybody's been to the Sinai Desert, you could hardly imagine two to three million people

00:09:37having any kind of sustenance in a desert.

00:09:43So therefore, what the Ark must have accomplished was profound.

00:09:50The Ark of the Covenant was said to have protected and provided for the Israelites during the Exodus.

00:09:59But how?

00:10:03You know, what makes the Ark of the Covenant so fascinating is that it not only held the Ten Commandments,

00:10:09but also other items that could have been technological devices.

00:10:13Yeah, like Aaron's rod.

00:10:14And, you know, in addition to the Bible, there's another ancient text that describes the Ark and its powers,

00:10:19and that's the Zohar.

00:10:20Right.

00:10:20And in the Zohar, it is described that the Ark may have been some sort of a machine that was dispensing food.

00:10:28And these two electrical engineers, George Sassoon and Rodney Dale,

00:10:32actually built a replica of this device, which we featured in the very first episode of Ancient Aliens.

00:10:3813th century B.C., according to the book of Exodus, Moses, chosen by God, led the Hebrew people out of Egypt.

00:10:52Some 600,000 men, women, and children embarked on what would become a 40-year trek through the Sinai Desert toward the Promised Land.

00:11:02During this time, the Bible says the Israelites survived by eating a single food source, manna.

00:11:12But was this manna a naturally abundant food provided by God, or, as some believe, by an advanced food dispensing machine?

00:11:21In the Bible, it explains how the Israelites got from Egypt, where they'd been slaves, to the Promised Land.

00:11:31They had to cross the Sinai Desert.

00:11:36And inevitably, given that there was a lot of Israelites and very little growing as it was a desert,

00:11:43they ran short on supplies.

00:11:45God stepped in at this point and sent manna from heaven.

00:11:49This took the form of some kind of seeds that rained down upon the desert,

00:11:55and then they were collected the next day, and they provided food for the Israelites,

00:12:00except Friday, when there was a double portion, because on Saturday, being the Sabbath, it didn't fall.

00:12:08While the Hebrew Bible fails to give a clear description of manna,

00:12:13another ancient Jewish text provides an alternative clue.

00:12:17The Zohar is a collection of spiritual commentaries and interpretations of the Torah,

00:12:25and is central to the mystical Kabbalah belief written in the 13th century.

00:12:29The Zohar describes what is called the Ancient of Days as providing the manna.

00:12:35But what was this Ancient of Days?

00:12:38A man?

00:12:39A god?

00:12:40A god?

00:12:40Or something else?

00:12:42The text speaks of different sized brains, different sized faces.

00:12:49They were connected with different tubes and different light sources.

00:12:56Theologians have suggested that this is a description of God.

00:12:59However, when looked at from a modern perspective,

00:13:05what is described in the Zohar isn't necessarily a god figure,

00:13:11but rather a type of machine.

00:13:15Intrigued by this information,

00:13:17two electrical engineers, George Sassoon and Rodney Dale,

00:13:21used the anatomical descriptions of the Ancient of Days

00:13:25to design what they called a manna machine.

00:13:30This really is the key diagram of the manna machine

00:13:34as we built it up from the texts.

00:13:38For instance, one here is the mouth,

00:13:41but it's actually the air intake,

00:13:43which carries what is described as the breath of life.

00:13:48The air goes up this tube here,

00:13:51which is described as the brain of the Ancient One,

00:13:55but is actually a dew still.

00:13:58So that although we were talking about the great sea

00:14:01and the hairs of the beard and so on,

00:14:03at the same time we were able to work out their relative positions,

00:14:08build up the specification of the machine

00:14:10and find that we had something that was biochemically viable.

00:14:18The machine took in moist morning air

00:14:26and condensed it in the part of the machine

00:14:29that looked like a plexiglass dome.

00:14:32From there, it mixed with an algae culture.

00:14:37The culture was treated with energy,

00:14:39such as a strong laser light,

00:14:41in order to speed the growth.

00:14:42Of course, it needed energy for cultivating the algae,

00:14:48and this was produced, we postulate,

00:14:51in a small nuclear reactor,

00:14:53which would produce both heat and light as required.

00:15:01The manna machine was a very dangerous device.

00:15:05We suspect that the reactor that powered the machine

00:15:07was transported in the Ark of the Covenant.

00:15:09We have multiple references in the Bible

00:15:17that whoever came close to the Ark of the Covenant

00:15:21and didn't know how to operate it was smitten to death.

00:15:28And sometimes people, after they encountered the Ark,

00:15:33started to lose their nails and started to lose their hair.

00:15:37So we have evidence of some type of radiation poisoning

00:15:42which was in direct correlation with the Ark of the Covenant.

00:15:46And so the Ark of the Covenant housed an extraterrestrial device

00:15:51which was given to the Israelites

00:15:53during their 40-year wanderings through the desert.

00:15:59The manna machine is believed to have supplied

00:16:02a highly nutritious form of green algae,

00:16:04or chlorella, as its food source.

00:16:07It's yet another theory supported by modern science.

00:16:11We found that work in the field of space travel

00:16:15had already been done

00:16:16where the green alga chlorella

00:16:19was bred in tanks

00:16:22and fed to people living in the closed environment

00:16:26and kept them alive.

00:16:29Research studies done by NASA in the 1960s and 1970s

00:16:34established that human life could be sustained

00:16:37for extended periods of time

00:16:38by consuming chlorella algae and nothing else.

00:16:42If it's possible for astronauts to survive on algae,

00:16:46could the Israelites have done the same?

00:16:48The manna machine was a sensitive device.

00:16:56In order to function properly,

00:16:58it had to be cleaned once a week.

00:17:03On that day, the machine was taken apart and cleaned.

00:17:06So it's possible that the Sabbath we have today

00:17:09actually originated from cleaning this machine.

00:17:11One of the big questions is

00:17:18where did the machine come from?

00:17:21And I suppose there are two answers to that.

00:17:23Either it was built on earth,

00:17:26which is a theory I can't really subscribe to.

00:17:29The other question of course is

00:17:30that it might have come from out of space somewhere.

00:17:33Now that's quite a big leap of imagination.

00:17:37But of course the interesting part is

00:17:40that it actually produces food

00:17:42as is used by a spacecraft.

00:17:47Did the Ark of the Covenant really house a machine

00:17:50that provided food to the Israelites

00:17:53during their 40 years in the desert?

00:17:56According to ancient astronaut theorists

00:17:59and many religious scholars,

00:18:01the answer is yes.

00:18:04But that wasn't the only power the Ark possessed.

00:18:07For as the Ark could sustain life,

00:18:11it could also destroy it.

00:18:22The Jordan River.

00:18:25A 200-mile border

00:18:27separating the present-day kingdom of Jordan

00:18:30from Israel and the West Bank.

00:18:32In 1400 B.C.

00:18:38this waterway represented one of the final obstacles

00:18:41to the wandering Israelites' long-awaited entrance

00:18:45into the Promised Land.

00:18:46The Ark of the Covenant comes into its own.

00:18:51When Joshua was given the task

00:18:53of leading Israel across the Jordan River,

00:18:57and the story is that the Ark of the Covenant

00:19:00would go first and be carried into the Jordan River,

00:19:05the water would stop flowing.

00:19:08Some energy came forth from the Ark

00:19:14causing the waters to literally stop and ascend

00:19:19and therefore creating dry land

00:19:22for the entire children of Israel

00:19:23to pass on off into the Holy Land.

00:19:25But if this biblical story is true,

00:19:32what kind of power could the Ark of the Covenant

00:19:34have possessed that would cause

00:19:36a raging river to stand still?

00:19:39What if the people who wrote these stories

00:19:42were simply reporting on what they were actually seeing?

00:19:47If that's true, then the Ark of the Covenant

00:19:49clearly represents a technology

00:19:51that is more advanced than anything we have now.

00:19:54If you want to part water,

00:19:57maybe a good way to do it

00:19:59would be with high-speed winds.

00:20:01Because if you blow enough air,

00:20:03you can get the water out of the way,

00:20:04and you can actually maybe even form

00:20:06those two walls of water.

00:20:08There's some kind of technology that they're using,

00:20:10and it's so that they can accomplish their goals

00:20:13and continue on their journey,

00:20:15and they're able to use

00:20:16this extraterrestrial technology to do it.

00:20:22According to the Bible's Book of Joshua,

00:20:24the Ark of the Covenant

00:20:26once again proved a powerful ally

00:20:28when the Israelites arrived on the western banks

00:20:32of the Jordan River,

00:20:33set on conquering the seemingly impenetrable

00:20:36walled city of Jericho.

00:20:39The reputation of the Israelites preceded them.

00:20:42People were terrified.

00:20:43They ever heard the rumors of the power

00:20:45of this great and awesome Ark.

00:20:47They now come to the city of Jericho.

00:20:49The people were commanded by God

00:20:51to march around the city walls.

00:20:54They march around the city once on the first day.

00:20:58The next day, they do the very same thing.

00:21:00The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth day,

00:21:02it's the same thing.

00:21:05On the seventh day,

00:21:06they march around,

00:21:07and then they blow the trumpets,

00:21:10and all the people shout.

00:21:14Between the marching of the feet,

00:21:17the salving of the ram's horns,

00:21:19the shofar,

00:21:20and with some power not described

00:21:22from the Ark,

00:21:24you enable the big stone mighty walls

00:21:26of the city of Jericho

00:21:27to somehow be vibrated

00:21:29with an earthquake-type force

00:21:32which caused them to collapse.

00:21:34When I hear that they had to walk around Jericho

00:21:40seven times,

00:21:42and then the trumpets

00:21:43were the ones that allowed

00:21:46for those walls to crumble,

00:21:48one would have to ask yourselves,

00:21:50was there something else to it?

00:21:55Knocking something down like a wall

00:21:57with pressure is not inconceivable.

00:21:59So you could imagine trying to do this.

00:22:05Now, when you look at things,

00:22:06think of standard examples

00:22:07that we experience.

00:22:10When the space shuttle lands,

00:22:12we get the sonic boom,

00:22:14and you can feel it rattling the walls,

00:22:16and you can actually hear it.

00:22:18That's far away.

00:22:21Imagine getting a sonic boom

00:22:22closer to the object.

00:22:24You might be able to do

00:22:26significant damage to the wall.

00:22:29Could the Israelites

00:22:35actually have witnessed

00:22:36and advanced technology

00:22:38beyond even our own

00:22:40modern capabilities?

00:22:42A machine that could instantly

00:22:44part waters

00:22:45and bring down stone walls?

00:22:49Some ancient astronaut theorists

00:22:51believe the best evidence

00:22:53that the Ark of the Covenant

00:22:54may have held alien technology

00:22:56can be found

00:22:57by studying events

00:22:59that took place

00:23:02the sacking of Jericho

00:23:23instructions to do so.

00:23:30that they could use the Ark

00:23:32as a weapon

00:23:32without his orders,

00:23:34he awarded victory

00:23:35to the Philistines

00:23:36who captured it

00:23:37as a trophy.

00:23:38The Bible records

00:23:41very strange things

00:23:43then started to happen.

00:23:45Death,

00:23:46sickness

00:23:47broke out

00:23:47amongst the Philistines.

00:23:50Now,

00:23:50in ancient times,

00:23:51they had no understanding

00:23:52of energy

00:23:53or what we would

00:23:54maybe consider

00:23:55something similar

00:23:56to a radioactive sickness.

00:23:59They considered this

00:24:00to be

00:24:01displeasure of the god.

00:24:03They placed the Ark

00:24:04next to a statue

00:24:05of one of their gods,

00:24:07Dagon.

00:24:07And they leave

00:24:11and when they come back

00:24:12they see that

00:24:12Dagon's head

00:24:13has been decapitated

00:24:14and his hands

00:24:16have been taken off.

00:24:18So they say,

00:24:19we've got to get rid

00:24:20of this thing.

00:24:22And so they loaded

00:24:24the Ark of the Covenant

00:24:25on a cart

00:24:26and sent it off

00:24:29in the direction

00:24:30of an Israeli village

00:24:31called Beth Shemesh.

00:24:34Then, of course,

00:24:35everyone ran up

00:24:36to look at the Ark.

00:24:37And as a result,

00:24:41the Bible says

00:24:4170 men died

00:24:43when they looked

00:24:45at the Ark.

00:24:52For those

00:24:53who have been fans

00:24:54of Raiders of the Lost Ark

00:24:55and remember

00:24:56the last scene

00:24:57when Indy is shouting,

00:24:59don't look,

00:25:00don't look.

00:25:03That's where

00:25:03that story comes from.

00:25:09contains numerous

00:25:10other examples

00:25:11of the Ark's

00:25:12devastating powers

00:25:13and ultimately

00:25:15depicts it

00:25:16as a deadly device

00:25:18of striking down

00:25:20who does not

00:25:21follow God's rules.

00:25:25who was the high priest,

00:25:27his two sons

00:25:28approached

00:25:28to give an offering.

00:25:30It's stated

00:25:31that literally

00:25:32two beams

00:25:33of fire

00:25:34came forth

00:25:35from the Ark

00:25:36and went up

00:25:37their nostrils

00:25:37and burnt them

00:25:39from the inside,

00:25:41leaving their entire

00:25:42outsides intact.

00:25:46Beams of fire

00:25:48burning people

00:25:50from inside?

00:25:53Why would an

00:25:54instrument of God

00:25:55contain such

00:25:56deadly powers?

00:25:59If the Ark

00:26:00of the Covenant

00:26:01was truly divine,

00:26:03why would it

00:26:04strike down

00:26:04two people

00:26:05who were simply

00:26:06trying to make

00:26:07an offering?

00:26:11showed up,

00:26:12people would

00:26:13all of a sudden

00:29:32the head,

00:29:33the lungs,

00:29:34the heart,

00:29:35the genital area.
