00:00:00Civilizations, strange visitations that altered the course of history, and extraordinary minds
00:00:08inspired by an intelligence of cosmic proportions.
00:00:15For nearly two decades, ancient aliens has traveled the globe exploring towering megalithic
00:00:21structures, mysterious artifacts, and stories of otherworldly beings in a quest for evidence
00:00:29that might reveal the truth of our extraterrestrial origins.
00:00:34But what's even more intriguing is the fact that the original Hebrew word for angel means
00:00:40messenger.
00:00:41Now, we take a look back through the ancient aliens archives to the show's very origins
00:00:48to examine the evidence that we are not alone.
00:00:53We have never been alone.
00:00:59When you look at the entire history of human civilization, at every turn and in every
00:01:08culture, you find stories of people speaking with what are essentially otherworldly beings.
00:01:15And we have stories from the Bible and ancient mythology, and from the Middle Ages, with tales
00:01:21of fairy folk and little people and things like that.
00:01:25And then, of course, today, we have reports of encounters with extraterrestrials.
00:01:29Right.
00:01:30It's really clear that from the very beginning, humans have made contact with beings not of
00:01:35this world.
00:01:37So are we being guided in some way?
00:01:40We asked this question on ancient aliens way back in season two in an episode called Alien
00:01:44Contact.
00:01:48Wendelsham Forest, Suffolk County, England, 80 miles northeast of London.
00:02:05During the Cold War, more than 12,000 American officers and enlisted men were stationed at two
00:02:13Air Force bases on the forest northern and southern edges, RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge.
00:02:26Shortly after midnight, on December 26, 1980, military radar detected an unidentified flying object.
00:02:36And there were civilian reports of strange flickering lights in the sky.
00:02:47Within minutes, military policemen, including Staff Sergeant James Penniston and Airman First
00:02:53Class John Burroughs, were sent into the woods to investigate.
00:03:00What they encountered was something the experienced servicemen had never seen before.
00:03:08By the dissipating light, I started seeing a silhouette of a triangular craft.
00:03:15It was completely black in color, except for these occasional bits of blue and orange light
00:03:23and yellow light running through it.
00:03:26There was blue lights, there was like an orange spear above it, there was a white light that
00:03:33would come out underneath it, and then there was like a misty orange haze.
00:03:37In his report, Sergeant Penniston described the strange craft's dimensions as roughly six and
00:03:47a half feet tall with nine foot sides.
00:03:50He also noted unusual markings, raised symbols, similar to Egyptian hieroglyphs.
00:03:56I was expecting to find, I don't know, USAF, something like that.
00:04:02And what I find is a glyphs, a pictorial glyphs, making no sense at all.
00:04:08And then I was running my hand over the side of the craft, it was very warm to touch.
00:04:14Upon touching the craft, the 26-year-old serviceman claimed he received a strange and powerful vision.
00:04:23There was ones and zeros, and ones and ones, and it just makes no sense.
00:04:32Take my hands off of it, it stopped.
00:04:35And then there was a bright flash of light.
00:04:42And then at that point, whatever it was, appeared to go up in the air and take off and go back
00:04:47towards the coast, and we didn't have any more contact.
00:04:56Penniston and Burroughs were ordered by the deputy base commander to treat the alleged sighting
00:05:01as if it had never happened.
00:05:04Still, after three decades, James Penniston remains haunted by his strange vision.
00:05:13So much so, that he felt compelled to keep a written record of it.
00:05:17A record he kept locked away for nearly 30 years.
00:05:23It's like someone was holding a picture, okay, of this zeros and ones.
00:05:29I could see it in my mind's eye, okay?
00:05:33So I recorded those, one after another.
00:05:36What do they mean? I don't know.
00:05:42Could the strange numbers from James Penniston's vision be some type of extraterrestrial code?
00:05:49If so, Penniston would not be the first to claim to have received messages from otherworldly visitors.
00:06:03In fact, history is filled with accounts of people compelled into action by contact with
00:06:09what they claim to be an extraterrestrial, divine, or supernatural being.
00:06:16Abraham, Mohammed, and Saint Paul are described as having been inspired by visits from God.
00:06:27Moses, Confucius, and the legendary Cambodian figure Priya Pishnokar
00:06:36are said to have met strange visitors who passed along moral codes and philosophies.
00:06:42God chose them because of their integrity, because of their faith.
00:06:48Men that were leaders that God had chosen to put in a certain position, people respected those leaders.
00:06:55And people knew that they were people of God.
00:06:58According to the ancient astronaut hypothesis, visions are not divine at all.
00:07:05They were, in fact, visits by extraterrestrials where our ancestors thought it was a vision,
00:07:14but it never was.
00:07:16The person didn't quite comprehend that he or she was visited by flesh-and-blood extraterrestrials.
00:07:24Perhaps the best known example of a man receiving specific instructions from an extraterrestrial source
00:07:33can be found in the story of Moses.
00:07:39According to the biblical book of Exodus,
00:07:42Moses first encountered God in the form of a burning bush.
00:07:46It was here that he was given his mission to deliver the Hebrew people out of slavery in Egypt
00:07:56and into the Promised Land.
00:08:00Later, at Mount Sinai, after he had safely brought the Jews into the desert,
00:08:06he was handed the Ten Commandments as laws given to man directly by God.
00:08:14Eventually, these moral codes were the foundation of a whole worldwide religion.
00:08:25But to ancient astronaut theorists,
00:08:28the story of Moses may be interpreted as not only a divine,
00:08:33but also an alien encounter.
00:08:37According to the Old Testament,
00:08:39Moses went up on Mount Sinai to meet with, quote-unquote, God.
00:08:45And I quote,
00:08:46And they saw the God of Israel,
00:08:48and there was, under his feet, as it were,
00:08:52a paved work of sapphire stone.
00:08:56And it was like the very heavens in its radiating clarity.
00:09:01And my question is, does something like this exist,
00:09:05or was it some sort of a misunderstood metallic ramp?
00:09:10But it gets even better.
00:09:12Moses actually describes Earth seen from outer space.
00:09:18The quote is,
00:09:20I mean, here he describes Earth as being round.
00:09:34At the time, that should have not been known,
00:09:38according to mainstream scientists.
00:09:41Is it possible that Moses was inspired by a force,
00:09:45not only from the heavens,
00:09:48but from another world?
00:09:54Persepolis, Iran.
00:09:58Here, 30 miles northeast of the city of Shiraz,
00:10:02lay the ruins of an ancient capital.
00:10:06Built by the Persian conqueror Darius more than 2,000 years ago,
00:10:12Persepolis was once a mighty city
00:10:15that, legend says, was protected by a powerful God
00:10:19named Ahurumasta.
00:10:22And etched in stone atop the crumbling remains
00:10:26of a building called the Tripilon
00:10:29is the depiction of this ancient God,
00:10:32seated inside a winged disk.
00:10:35Ahurumasta was central to the ancient Persian religion,
00:10:41Zoroastrianism,
00:10:43and the experiences of a prophet named Zarathustra,
00:10:47who lived 2,600 years ago.
00:10:51Zarathustra was the founder of a religion.
00:10:54He was in the area near Persia,
00:10:56modern-day Persia or Iran.
00:10:59And he had a visitor, Ahurumasta,
00:11:02a divine encounter that led to the major form of monotheism
00:11:08in the entire area,
00:11:09that preceded the Egyptian form of monotheism
00:11:13and way beyond the Hebrew and then Christian forms.
00:11:18According to ancient Zoroastrian texts,
00:11:21called the Avesta,
00:11:23Zarathustra's first meeting with Ahurumasta
00:11:27occurred at the top of a mountain
00:11:29that was shrouded in clouds
00:11:31and bathed in an eerie light.
00:11:34Zarathustra carries this idea
00:11:36that there is this one true God.
00:11:38It is literally the God of truth.
00:11:40And truth is a great central principle
00:11:42in the Zoroastrian worldview.
00:11:44Right and wrong, good and evil,
00:11:46black and white,
00:11:47a very strong contrast,
00:11:49and you are to identify with the good
00:11:51and search the truth.
00:11:52Some researchers believe
00:11:55these divine prophecies provide proof
00:11:58that the prophet Zarathustra
00:12:00was following commands
00:12:01from an extraterrestrial being,
00:12:04one who perhaps came to Earth
00:12:06to sow the seeds of what is now known
00:12:09as civilization.
00:12:14When we look at Zarathustra
00:12:16encountering Ahurumasta,
00:12:18what we are confronted with here
00:12:20are human beings
00:12:21who are encountering
00:12:23non-human intelligences.
00:12:25These are indicative
00:12:27of physical encounters.
00:12:29These are encounters
00:12:31with something which is
00:12:32otherworldly yet physical.
00:12:34We have to ask ourselves
00:12:39were they just a figment
00:12:41of our ancestors' imagination
00:12:43or did they exist?
00:12:45These are extraterrestrial
00:12:48or alien entities
00:12:50who come here
00:12:51and provide some kind
00:12:52of information exchange
00:12:54and guidance program
00:12:55between cultures
00:12:57and entities
00:12:58who are willing
00:12:59to help that culture.
00:13:01Is it possible,
00:13:03as ancient astronaut theorists
00:13:04believe,
00:13:05that extraterrestrials
00:13:07contacted prophets
00:13:08in the distant past
00:13:10in order to guide
00:13:11the development
00:13:12of human civilization?
00:13:14And if so,
00:13:16might there be more clues
00:13:17found
00:13:18in the historical accounts
00:13:20of what is perhaps
00:13:21the most intriguing character
00:13:23in all of ancient Greece?
00:13:26Mount Parnassus.
00:13:29On the flanks
00:13:30of this 8,000-foot peak
00:13:32lie the ruins
00:13:34of a marble sanctuary
00:13:35that was once home
00:13:37to one of history's
00:13:38most famous prophets,
00:13:39a temple priestess
00:13:41known as
00:13:42the Oracle of Delphi.
00:13:44The Oracle of Delphi
00:13:46is the most famous oracle
00:13:48from the ancient world.
00:13:49There was a temple there
00:13:51dedicated to the god Apollo.
00:13:52Apollo is the central god
00:13:54for prophecy.
00:13:55And a temple was established
00:13:57for Apollo in Delphi
00:13:59and that became the seat
00:14:01of the actual oracle
00:14:02where people would visit.
00:14:05The Oracle of Delphi
00:14:06was located
00:14:07in the temple
00:14:08of Apollo
00:14:09which would have been
00:14:11at the time
00:14:12the major building structure.
00:14:15This was the central point.
00:14:17so the Oracle
00:14:19was all important.
00:14:21Everything
00:14:22else
00:14:23was there
00:14:24because of the Oracle
00:14:25in the complex.
00:14:29Also known
00:14:30as Pythia,
00:14:31the Oracle
00:14:32could be found
00:14:33sitting on a tall
00:14:34three-legged seat
00:14:35over an opening
00:14:36in the earth
00:14:37where vapors
00:14:38rising from the ground
00:14:40would put her
00:14:41into a trance.
00:14:42The Oracle of Delphi
00:14:45would basically
00:14:46channel
00:14:47the god
00:14:48Apollo.
00:14:49Apollo
00:14:50was really
00:14:51the god
00:14:52of civilization.
00:14:53He was the god
00:14:54of light.
00:14:54He was the god
00:14:55of prophecy.
00:14:56And she would
00:14:58become Apollo.
00:14:59You can imagine
00:15:01how it is
00:15:02when something supernatural
00:15:03or superhuman
00:15:04comes into
00:15:05a human body.
00:15:06It, of course,
00:15:08creates a fugue state.
00:15:10Essentially,
00:15:11it creates a weird trance.
00:15:12Nowadays,
00:15:13we have movies
00:15:14about possessions
00:15:15and stuff like that.
00:15:16It's kind of like that.
00:15:17It's not necessarily
00:15:18demonic.
00:15:19But any time
00:15:20the supernatural
00:15:21becomes housed
00:15:22within something
00:15:23natural like a human body,
00:15:24it is inevitably
00:15:25going to be causing
00:15:26some kind of trance,
00:15:27some kind of fugue state
00:15:29or something.
00:15:31For more than
00:15:32a thousand years,
00:15:33the Oracle
00:15:34and her numerous
00:15:35successors
00:15:36dispensed advice
00:15:37to everyone
00:15:38from emperors
00:15:39and generals
00:15:40to poets
00:15:41and politicians.
00:15:43Prophecy was central
00:15:44to the Greek worldview
00:15:46and the affairs of state,
00:15:48the planning of battles,
00:15:49any important decisions
00:15:51would be taken
00:15:52to the Oracle
00:15:53to be considered
00:15:55to get some kind
00:15:56of guidance
00:15:56from beyond
00:15:57ordinary knowing.
00:16:00You can come and ask
00:16:01about giving birth
00:16:02to a child.
00:16:03You can come and ask
00:16:04about crops
00:16:05that you want
00:16:06to plant.
00:16:07You can come and ask
00:16:08about joining the army.
00:16:09You can come and ask
00:16:10about undertaking
00:16:12a military expedition.
00:16:13The priestess is there
00:16:14to be the liaison.
00:16:16And in fact,
00:16:16when people come
00:16:17to the Oracle
00:16:18and ask questions,
00:16:19they specifically
00:16:20ask the priestess
00:16:21and she's the one
00:16:22who channels
00:16:24the answer
00:16:25from Apollo
00:16:25back down
00:16:26to the human beings.
00:16:27of the oracle's
00:16:29human beings.
00:16:29But just what,
00:16:30or whom,
00:16:31was the reason
00:16:32for the oracle's
00:16:33bizarre trance-like state?
00:16:37One in which,
00:16:38according to
00:16:39contemporary accounts,
00:16:40she could accurately
00:16:42predict everything
00:16:43from the Trojan War
00:16:44and the eventual decline
00:16:46of Greek power
00:16:47to the slaughter
00:16:48to the slaughter
00:16:49of the famed
00:16:50300 Spartans
00:16:51at Thermopylae.
00:16:57Mainstream researchers
00:16:58say it was most likely
00:17:00due to her inhalation
00:17:01of intoxicating fumes
00:17:03from various gases
00:17:04seeping out
00:17:05of Mount Parnassus.
00:17:06But might she,
00:17:09in fact,
00:17:10have been in contact
00:17:11with an extra-terrestrial being?
00:17:16One whom the ancient Greeks
00:17:17knew as Apollo.
00:17:21The idea that Apollo
00:17:23was possibly
00:17:24some extra-terrestrial
00:17:26makes sense
00:17:27because they want us
00:17:29to develop.
00:17:30They want us
00:17:31to have civilization.
00:17:32They want us
00:17:33to have technology
00:17:34and to be like them.
00:17:37We've always
00:17:38been their
00:17:39pet project,
00:17:40so to speak,
00:17:41meaning
00:17:42that they helped us
00:17:43become
00:17:44who we are today.
00:17:47Were ancient so-called gods
00:17:48like Uhuru Mazda
00:17:50and Apollo
00:17:51really part
00:17:52of an advanced race
00:17:53of celestial beings?
00:17:56Aliens
00:17:57who used human agents
00:17:58known as prophets
00:17:59to instruct
00:18:00and steer the course
00:18:01of human civilization?
00:18:07When we talk about angels,
00:18:09we think of the Bible.
00:18:11But, you know,
00:18:12there are reports
00:18:13of encounters
00:18:14with angels
00:18:15with cultures
00:18:16and people all over the world.
00:18:18And it's not just thousands
00:18:19of years ago,
00:18:20but people are reporting this
00:18:21even today.
00:18:22Yeah, and these beings
00:18:23are almost always described
00:18:26as having descended
00:18:27from the sky.
00:18:29But what's even more intriguing
00:18:30is the fact that
00:18:31the original Hebrew word
00:18:32for angel
00:18:34means messenger.
00:18:36Right.
00:18:37And that's almost always
00:18:38what they're doing,
00:18:39delivering messages.
00:18:40Right.
00:18:41Now the question is,
00:18:42who exactly are these messengers?
00:18:44angels.
00:18:51According to a Nielsen survey
00:18:55taken in 2010,
00:18:57nearly 70% of Americans
00:18:59believe in their existence.
00:19:03But what are they?
00:19:06Winged visitors from God
00:19:08as depicted in the Bible?
00:19:09smiling cherubs
00:19:12who peer down at us
00:19:13from billowing clouds?
00:19:17Or something much,
00:19:18much more?
00:19:23The concept of angels
00:19:24is obviously very widespread
00:19:26certainly in American culture.
00:19:29And you find it
00:19:30in Latin culture,
00:19:32Greek culture,
00:19:34Babylonian culture.
00:19:36When we think of angels,
00:19:37we immediately think
00:19:39to the Bible.
00:19:40But when you go onto
00:19:41the internet,
00:19:42when you read books,
00:19:43you will find that
00:19:44people have visitations
00:19:45of angels
00:19:46every single day.
00:19:50In the Hebrew Bible's
00:19:51book of Genesis,
00:19:53angels first appear
00:19:54as divine beings,
00:19:55sent to earth
00:19:56as messengers of God.
00:20:00They wanted to have God
00:20:01interacting with
00:20:02the human beings,
00:20:04but it seems somewhat
00:20:05undignified to have God
00:20:06directly operated.
00:20:08So we sent messengers.
00:20:11The word angel
00:20:13is a mistranslation.
00:20:16In Hebrew,
00:20:18the word for angel
00:20:20is malach.
00:20:22However,
00:20:23the correct translation
00:20:24is not angel at all.
00:20:27But it is in fact,
00:20:28messenger.
00:20:30In Greek,
00:20:31the word angelos
00:20:33is not angel.
00:20:34It is intermediary,
00:20:36middle man.
00:20:37And so what do we have
00:20:39in these stories?
00:20:41We have these intermediaries,
00:20:43these messengers,
00:20:44bringing information
00:20:46from quote unquote God.
00:20:49By definition,
00:20:51angels are otherworldly.
00:20:54Angels are extraterrestrial.
00:20:56They're not from this planet.
00:20:57They're not from this planet.
00:20:59So really by definition,
00:21:00ETs and angels are the same.
00:21:03Now our modern conception
00:21:05of ETs have changed.
00:21:07But go back thousands
00:21:09and thousands of years
00:21:11when angels lived among
00:21:12our biblical ancestors.
00:21:15They didn't call them ETs,
00:21:16they called them angels,
00:21:17but they knew they were not
00:21:19of this world,
00:21:21not of this planet.
00:21:22But could some of these
00:21:25so-called messengers of God
00:21:27have served another function?
00:21:30One not so benevolent
00:21:32or benign?
00:21:34According to the book of Enoch,
00:21:37the so-called lost biblical text
00:21:39that was rediscovered
00:21:41among the Dead Sea Scrolls
00:21:42in the late 1940s,
00:21:45the first angels to arrive on Earth
00:21:47were the fallen angels.
00:21:48It was on Mount Hermon
00:21:54that angels came down from the heavens,
00:21:57fallen angels to inhabit Earth.
00:22:00They were trying to assume power.
00:22:03And because of that,
00:22:04they were cast out from Heaven
00:22:06and cast down to Earth.
00:22:08Now to me,
00:22:10this sounds more of a mutiny story
00:22:13where extraterrestrials arrived here
00:22:15and there was a type of rift,
00:22:18and so they split into two different factions.
00:22:22And the faction that split off
00:22:25is what today is referred to
00:22:27as the fallen angels.
00:22:31Enoch was a believer in angels,
00:22:36fallen angels, visitations,
00:22:39but everything he put in his scriptures
00:22:42seem to imply, to me,
00:22:47extraterrestrial visitation.
00:22:52From craft that he saw,
00:22:54to mountainsides that they would land,
00:22:58to them taking him around
00:23:01and telling him things.
00:23:03Both in the book of Enoch
00:23:05and in the Hebrew Bible,
00:23:07the fallen angels act in direct opposition
00:23:09to God's will,
00:23:12by interbreeding with humans.
00:23:16In Genesis 6,
00:23:18it talks about the sons of gods,
00:23:22gods, plural,
00:23:24mating with the daughters of men.
00:23:26And there was a certain evil connotation to it.
00:23:30How can angels have sex?
00:23:34Enoch describes of it.
00:23:36Some of the extraterrestrials stood on Earth.
00:23:37They had sex with some of our girls.
00:23:42That is what is written down in Enoch.
00:23:45It's not my invention.
00:23:47Enoch never calls them gods.
00:23:50He calls them guardian of the skies or watchmen.
00:23:53According to ancient texts,
00:23:54the fallen angels not only physically mated with the women of Earth,
00:24:03they produced offspring.
00:24:05The Nephilim, a race of giants,
00:24:09similar to those portrayed in the story of David and Goliath.
00:24:12But if, as many ancient astronaut theorists believe,
00:24:19fallen angels were really extraterrestrials that first arrived in the Middle East,
00:24:24wouldn't they have also appeared elsewhere in the world?
00:24:28For proof, researchers point to thousands of carvings and other depictions of winged guardians,
00:24:35strange creatures and other half-man and half-beasts that commonly appear on ancient walls and artifacts.
00:24:44There is such an enormous amount of evidence to suggest that angels are not something which Christianity invented,
00:24:53but that they were somehow physically present in all civilizations.
00:24:57Ancient cultures that depicted the gods as winged creatures are the Sumerians,
00:25:02the Babylonians, certainly the Egyptians.
00:25:08All of these civilizations had symbols where there may have been a winged disc,
00:25:16or there may have been what we would call today probably a UFO.
00:25:21I believe they were just letting us know that these beings flew.
00:25:25In the Middle East in particular, there were depictions of supernatural beings with wings.
00:25:37The demons of Mesopotamia.
00:25:42The Zuzu, which had the head of a lion and the body of a human and the wings of a locust.
00:25:47They were primarily soldiers of the higher gods, servants of the higher gods.
00:25:56The higher gods depended on these messengers.
00:26:00They would run back and forth and gather information.
00:26:04The Bible may be the most thoroughly documented account of extraterrestrial contact
00:26:14ever in written history here on earth.
00:26:19We just simply have not learned how to interpret and how to identify the clear and obvious evidence
00:26:27that the seraphim, the cherubim, the archangels, the angels,
00:26:35all of these different hierarchies of beings described in the Old and the New Testament
00:26:39literally do refer to visitors who come here.
00:26:45Use a word extraterrestrials instead of the word of angels.
00:26:49Use a word of a leader of extraterrestrials instead of archangel.
00:26:54If you change a few words in the Old Texts, a few keywords,
00:26:59you change the sense of the Old Texts.
00:27:01But if, as ancient astronaut theorists maintain, angels are not ethereal winged beings,
00:27:11but actually flesh and blood creatures visiting us from other planets,
00:27:16why are they here?
00:27:18And if they are messengers, just who or what do they represent?
00:27:24Mount Sodom, Israel.
00:27:27A pillar of rock salt known as Lot's Wife overlooks the southwestern part of the Dead Sea,
00:27:44near the presumed location of the biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
00:27:49In both the Hebrew book of Genesis and the Islamic Quran,
00:27:55angels traveled to this spot to warn Abraham's nephew Lot
00:28:00that God was about to unleash terror upon the world.
00:28:03And the angel finally says to Lord, if you don't come now with your family,
00:28:13two girls and the wife, I cannot help you anymore.
00:28:17It looks as if a countdown was working, which could not be stopped anymore.
00:28:22If even the angel cannot stop it.
00:28:23And sure enough, they walk away and there is this mayhem and destruction.
00:28:40His wife turns around and she turns into a pillar of salt.
00:28:44Since the ancient astronaut theory proposes that angels were nothing else but misinterpreted flesh and blood extraterrestrials,
00:29:02this means that extraterrestrials did side with certain people.
00:29:08Were angels or exoterrestrials interfering with human development?
00:29:21But if angels save Lot and his family from the wrath of God,
00:29:26is this proof that angels are more than just otherworldly messengers?
00:29:30Might they be more actively engaged in helping their human counterparts?
00:29:42Even to the extent that they might still be affecting the outcome of human history?
00:29:49Once again, ancient astronaut theorists look to the book of Enoch for their answer.
00:29:54and claim to have found evidence in its references to a race of fallen angels known as Watchers.
00:30:04There is much debate amongst religious scholars about the fallen angels.
00:30:10Some say they were deliberately sent here to watch over man.
00:30:28And in the book of Enoch specifically, we have 20 watchers which are sort of in charge of all the other angels that are in Enoch's presence.
00:30:43So you have the commanders and the officers and the lieutenants.
00:30:47And those 20 deliberately teach Enoch in various disciplines such as meteorology, astronomy, how to make better swords.
00:31:02Now, would something like this really happen in the kingdom of God?
00:31:07I think the answer is clear.
00:31:11Where did they come from? What do they want?
00:31:13And if we're dealing with one or more intelligences, that maybe they have different agendas.
00:31:20But maybe there is something out there that has been an ally to evolving hominids.
00:31:27And we're the latest model.
00:31:28In the Bible, angels often appear to humans as physical entities that can be seen, heard, and even touched.
00:31:44But today, many people believe angels are present, whether they can see them or not.
00:31:55According to a 2008 survey by Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion, 55% of all American adults believe a guardian angel protects them.
00:32:07The popularity of guardian angels in modern culture, I think, has to do with the idea that we want some kind of supernatural protection in a world where we don't really feel very safe oftentimes.
00:32:21The Islamic faith teaches that every human being has not one, but two guardian angels, one for each shoulder.
00:32:33These celestial beings are called writing angels because they write down the good deeds and the bad deeds in each person's life.
00:32:41The first so-called guardian angel to appear in Judeo-Christian texts is the angel Raphael, who was featured in the book of Tobit, written sometime between the 8th and 2nd century BC.
00:32:59Tobit is off on a very difficult mission.
00:33:02Tobit is off on a very difficult mission. He's going to go to Persia to find a wife.
00:33:05And he runs into all sorts of problems on the way.
00:33:08So God sends the angel Raphael.
00:33:11And now we have the angel not just as a messenger from God, he becomes a guardian angel.
00:33:16He becomes a special protector.
00:33:22The idea of guardian angel, is it just because we wish it?
00:33:25We believe it, that somebody is protecting us.
00:33:28Or does it come from the past?
00:33:30Has it to do maybe something with extraterrestrial?
00:33:33In the sense that some extraterrestrial said to some human, we protect you.
00:33:38Don't be afraid.
00:33:43Other biblical stories include accounts of angels wielding extraordinary powers.
00:33:48Angels who are not just guardians, but who intervene in human affairs.
00:34:00When we talk about stories of contact with other worldly beings, whether they're angels or gods or something else,
00:34:07they're very often not just relaying messages, they're giving instructions.
00:34:10Right. We see this a lot when some angel or deity gives instructions, you know, on how to build something.
00:34:18Or of a cataclysmic event, such as the great flood, for instance.
00:34:22Right. And this essentially supports the ancient astronaut theory and the idea that ultimately the extraterrestrials want us to succeed and survive.
00:34:33We covered this way back in season two of Ancient Aliens.
00:34:41If, as ancient astronaut theorists believe, extraterrestrial beings have been contacting us throughout the centuries, then what are they trying to tell us?
00:34:51It appears again and again that here on Earth, we're dealing with something that could be called the hidden directorate.
00:35:01A directing force of intelligent beings who may even be our progenitors and have been working with humanity ever since we began evolving on this planet.
00:35:13And we'll intervene at key points to try to nudge our development in a certain direction.
00:35:23Why were some of our ancestors told to construct a building or to build an ark?
00:35:31Personally, I think, to ensure mankind's survival.
00:35:42There are stories of malevolent gods, of malevolent extraterrestrials.
00:35:48But by and large, the stories that we have from ancient times, the gods were actually very benevolent.
00:35:55And these extraterrestrials have helped us throughout the millennia to survive to this day.
00:36:04One of the oldest and most widespread stories of divine or unearthly intervention in human events can be found in the many great flood myths.
00:36:15There are flood myths all over the world, not just in the Bible.
00:36:22You can find them all throughout South America.
00:36:25You can find them in Native American traditions.
00:36:28You can find them in the Celtic traditions, the legend of the Ragnarok, the deluge.
00:36:32It's in Asia.
00:36:35Native Africans have flood myths.
00:36:37So the story of Noah is not an isolated event that only happens in the Bible.
00:36:43It's part of a bigger story.
00:36:46Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
00:36:49In the 16th century, one of the first Westerners to see this elaborate temple,
00:36:55Portuguese monk Antonio de Magdalena,
00:36:58described it as an extraordinary construction, as like no other building in the world.
00:37:03With each side measuring nearly a mile long, Angkor Wat remains the planet's largest religious structure.
00:37:13Although mainstream archaeologists believe Angkor Wat was built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a state temple and capital city,
00:37:24Cambodian legends maintain it was built as far back as 600 BC by Priya Pishnokar.
00:37:31The offspring of a commoner father and a mother who came from the heavens.
00:37:38When grown, Priya was said to be abducted up into a flying palace by a group of otherworldly beings led by the god Indra.
00:37:48The message Priya received was to be a leader for his people and a teacher.
00:37:58He was taught all these different things when he was up at Indra's heaven, this flying palace up in the sky.
00:38:05When he came back to earth after this long education, Priya was basically the chosen one to teach his people in the ways of the world and the universe.
00:38:216,000 miles northwest of Angkor Wat, a 15th century French girl also reportedly received a divine inspiration to lead men in war.
00:38:37Orléans, France.
00:38:41In 1429, the city was besieged by the English during the Hundred Years War.
00:38:48The survival of the French military and government appeared doomed.
00:38:52Then, 17-year-old Joan of Arc traveled to Chateau Chinon, where she persuaded the local leaders that the saints Michael, Catherine and Margaret had visited her.
00:39:07And told her that her presence in Orléans would inspire the French army to break the siege.
00:39:16The Joan of Arc story is a fabulous tale of a vision really affecting history in a practical and concrete way.
00:39:24France was in bad trouble.
00:39:26This sensitive soul, very young girl, has the vision of saints that come to her and tell her to lead an army and free a city.
00:39:33She does so.
00:39:36She also has some prophecy from these visitations and she's able to end the siege of a major city and make major contributions to history.
00:39:46All because these saints came to her in a vision.
00:39:50While Joan served primarily as a military figurehead, she also designed new artillery tactics and repeatedly outsmarted the more experienced English commanders.
00:40:04But did her mysterious visions actually come from heaven?
00:40:09Or might the French teenager have received, as ancient astronaut theorists suggest, a type of advanced extraterrestrial knowledge?
00:40:18If this is in fact what was happening, then it would lead one to conclude that the hidden directorate decided that the way the world would turn out if this battle had not been won in favor of the French would have been an extremely negative outcome for humanity.
00:40:37So Joan of Arc was then contacted by a luminous extraterrestrial being that could have imparted that information to Joan of Arc to give her the confidence that ultimately led her military campaign to victory.
00:40:54If extraterrestrial beings have inspired and affected human events, then is it really, as some suggest, to help improve humanity?
00:41:07Ancient astronaut theorists say yes, and as further evidence point to strange events that coincided with the founding of the United States.
00:41:18To me, one of the most fascinating stories of ET contact has to do with the founding fathers.
00:41:29We have multiple accounts of George Washington encountering strange celestial beings.
00:41:36Yeah, and again, this really makes you think there's an agenda behind these visitations, like we're being steered in a certain direction.
00:41:43And you know, it's documented that some of the founding fathers believed in extraterrestrial life.
00:41:49So there's a sense that, you know, they thought that there was some otherworldly force that wanted them to succeed.
00:41:58Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, winter 1777.
00:42:02It is the height of the American Revolutionary War.
00:42:11After several bloody battles against superior British forces, George Washington's army is in tatters.
00:42:20Valley Forge is the winter encampment of the Continental Army, the army which is set up by the nation to fight the revolution.
00:42:27The British have taken Philadelphia.
00:42:30Washington decides he is going to headquarter some 12,000 troops right outside of Philadelphia.
00:42:36This is the darkest time of the American Revolution, when people thought that the United States wasn't really not going to win.
00:42:46Washington is trying to figure out what he's going to do and trying to keep the army together.
00:42:53There's very little money. There's almost no supplies. They often don't have shoes. Lots of stories of things like bloody footprints in the snow.
00:43:01So severe were the conditions that Washington wrote, unless some great and capital change suddenly takes place, this army must inevitably starve, dissolve or disperse.
00:43:19But ultimately, Washington's will to remain at Valley Forge forced the British to retreat and prove to be a turning point in the war.
00:43:37What was it that sustained Washington in these dark hours?
00:43:40Some believe it was a strange vision he received during a moment of prayer.
00:43:48In a moment of absolute misery, he went off into the woods to pray.
00:43:57And there in the forest, he had this magnificent vision of a creature garbed in white.
00:44:03And this creature, call it an extraterrestrial, call it a heavenly spirit, but it was an otherworldly presence, laid out for Washington the victory that the Continental Army would have in the Revolutionary War against the British, and laid out the history of the new United States of America.
00:44:27He sees a map of the United States, and raindrops onto this map, and cities are popping up throughout the entire country, a model of how the United States would look 100 or 200 years in the future.
00:44:49How do we know this?
00:44:50How do we know this?
00:44:51We know this because an aide to General Washington, lived to be over 100 years old, told this story to a newspaper of our first general having an alien encounter.
00:45:10Could George Washington really have had an extraterrestrial visitation at Valley Forge?
00:45:20Or was this just a story he told to build up morale?
00:45:25Ancient astronaut theorists claim to have also uncovered evidence that throughout the Revolutionary War, George Washington himself may have unknowingly come in direct contact with extraterrestrials.
00:45:39One of the strangest stories about George Washington, which allegedly comes from diaries that he kept, that Washington would meet occasionally with these mysterious people that he called green skins.
00:45:55Washington sees a green glowing ball hovering in the tree line, and out of this, Washington sees these small figures. What were they? Were they, as Washington thought they might have been, small Native Americans in war paint?
00:46:16One theory is that these were extraterrestrials observing this cataclysmic event.
00:46:29George Washington's vision at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War is just one example of a great many stories that we have about miraculous visions and apparitions during times of war and bloodshed.
00:46:41Some people believe that it's during these crucial times in human history that perhaps aliens would be most interested in interacting with us.
00:46:54Did George Washington really encounter green skin visitors and witness glowing orbs at Valley Forge?
00:47:07Might there be additional evidence of alien encounters with other founding fathers?
00:47:15April 5th, 1800. The city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Astronomer William Dunbar reports to then Vice President Thomas Jefferson that he witnessed a bright glowing light the size of a large house hovering 200 yards above ground.
00:47:33It was quite bright, radiated a tremendous amount of heat, and crashed not so far away.
00:47:45It destroyed that whole area where it crashed. However, given the supposed size and speed with which the object was moving, it didn't seem to create a crater of a size that would have been appropriate for an object like that.
00:48:00The details of the sighting report make it impossible that it could have been a meteor. It wasn't moving fast enough to be a meteor. It was something unexplained, something very unusual.
00:48:14And Jefferson took this report very seriously. He passed this report on as he would pass on any other account of a scientific discovery or natural observation.
00:48:25Jefferson was so impressed by the account that Jefferson, Vice President of the United States, presented this to the American Philosophical Society.
00:48:39So who was this American Philosophical Society anyway? Well, it was founded by Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia, and it really was the intellectual cognoscenti of America at that time.
00:48:50So here we have some of the greatest thinkers here in the United States, all pulled together in one group that could write research papers, write philosophical papers, examine all sorts of phenomena from a scientific point of view.
00:49:07It's no coincidence that Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin both believed in extraterrestrial life. They were men of science, they were astronomers who studied weather patterns, and their belief in extraterrestrials was part of their scientific view of the world and of the universe.
00:49:26For Thomas Jefferson to report the UFO sighting still remains the highest public official ever to make a report of a UFO in American history.
00:49:41George Washington's close encounter with an otherworldly being, Thomas Jefferson reporting a UFO sighting. Could these incidents suggest that the Founding Fathers not only believed in the existence of extraterrestrials, but actually encountered them?
00:50:01According to ancient astronaut theorists, similar, otherworldly influences spurred the expansion into America's western frontier.
00:50:16You know, a lot of people may not know this, but the Mormon Church was founded after an otherworldly visitation.
00:50:23Yeah, that's right. Joseph Smith claimed that he was instructed by a glowing being named Moroni.
00:50:28And what's interesting is the Mormons believed there's life on other planets.
00:50:32So what that means is that that information was ultimately coming from this visitor.
00:50:37Yeah, and so you have to ask, was Moroni a spiritual being or something else?
00:50:43We covered this in 2011, an episode called Aliens and the Old West.
00:50:58Palmyra, New York, September 21st, 1823.
00:51:03In the upstairs bedroom of a log cabin just south of this small rural village,
00:51:0917-year-old Joseph Smith had a vision of someone or something, not of this world.
00:51:17It was late at night, it was dark, and the room filled with a very, very bright light.
00:51:25And this personage was floating in midair.
00:51:29His feet were off the ground, and he identified himself as Moroni.
00:51:35After talking with Joseph Smith for a while, Moroni seemed to ascend into the air, completely leaving the room again dark.
00:51:45The next morning also Moroni came back to Joseph Smith to show him the hidden golden book, which is what we know as the Book of Mormon today.
00:52:00According to the Book of Mormon, Moroni identified himself to Joseph Smith as a man who lived in America in the late 4th and early 5th centuries.
00:52:10But America was not Moroni's home.
00:52:14He claimed to have much more distant origins.
00:52:19Moroni claimed to be from the Pleiades star cluster.
00:52:23So a church today, 9 million members strong, believe that their church may have originated not of this world, but of another world.
00:52:32According to Joseph Smith, not only did Moroni claim to be from another planet, he also directed him to dig up the golden plates from the hill Camorra, which scholars believe is a reference to an ancient Native American mound, much like the serpent mound.
00:52:52We have since found out that in burial mounds and other refugee mounds across the Native American region, we have such plates.
00:53:02These writing tablets have been found, and not just in North America, but also in South America.
00:53:12This entity tells Joseph Smith to go on a physical search for an object, which we know could have been an archaeological finding.
00:53:20But if Moroni was a spiritual or metaphysical being, why would he give Joseph Smith physical objects with which to translate the plates?
00:53:33According to ancient astronaut theorists, Moroni may, in fact, have been a star being, an extraterrestrial whose mission was to pass down to Smith and his followers the advanced knowledge of the mound builders.
00:53:48In Mormonism, actually, a lot of their theology is directly related to this idea of God and various angels and various spiritual beings live on different planets.
00:54:01Joseph Smith felt such a strong connection to the Native Americans that he believed they could help guide him to a new Holy Land, which he called the New Zion.
00:54:12Although Smith died in 1844, the victim of mob violence, his successor, Brigham Young, ultimately led the Mormons further west to Utah.
00:54:26In 1849, when the Mormons arrived in the area of Parowan Gap, local Ute leader Chief Wakara told them they had entered God's own house and showed them proof in the form of petroglyphs dating back thousands of years.
00:54:44All throughout Utah, petroglyphs depict hunters with boas and arrows going after buffalo, very ordinary daily life occurrences.
00:54:58But there are also some other depictions which are very odd.
00:55:05And they look like spaceships.
00:55:09They look like beings with halos.
00:55:13They look like beings with antennae on their heads or beings that wear some type of a suit.
00:55:20For all intents and purposes, they look like depictions of spacemen.
00:55:31Great Falls, Montana, October 19, 1865.
00:55:37Six months after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
00:55:41A fur trapper reports what might be the first documented UFO crash in the Old West.
00:55:50In 1865, the Missouri Democrat reported that a trapper saw a light traveling through the sky at night, flew over his camp, broke apart and crashed in the forest some miles away.
00:56:04The next day, he tracked it down, found a large stone embedded inside the mountain.
00:56:14It was hollow. It was cracked open.
00:56:16He claimed there were chambers inside of it and there were hieroglyphic markings on it.
00:56:22And there was also some mysterious liquid spilled around the area.
00:56:26But the newspaper, you know, went so far as to suggest that these were meteoric conveyances of aliens from Mercury or Uranus.
00:56:36So the whole idea of UFO crashes was explored in the 19th century, almost 100 years before Roswell.
00:56:46But what makes this story even more intriguing to ancient astronaut theorists is the location of the sighting along the upper Missouri River.
00:56:55This is the home of the Blackfoot Indians, a tribe whose ancient legends include strange tales of star beings visiting the region from other worlds.
00:57:06The Blackfoot have very profound legends and myths relating to beings which quite clearly are said to have come down from some kind of sky world to Earth and in the sky vehicles.
00:57:20And the way that they are described, these can be modern ideas of flying saucers or UFOs.
00:57:29Could the object that the Montana fur trapper claimed to have found really have been one of the alien crafts described in Blackfoot legends?
00:57:43And might the markings have been the same as what Joseph Smith found on the golden plates?
00:57:50To some Native Americans, like Chief Standing Elk of the Yangtun Dakota tribe, star beings are still very much amongst us.
00:58:00And they are still making contact with humans.
00:58:06A lot of our relatives that come from the stars, they speak on a telepathic level.
00:58:13And there were some that came to me and showed me a bar with symbols on there.
00:58:20They talked to me and I understood them very, very well.
00:58:25This is a replica of one of the bars that was in one of the light ships.
00:58:31And they represent universal laws and they're guarded by the star people.
00:58:38So these are universal laws.
00:58:43If the star ancestors of Native American tribes are, in fact, advanced extraterrestrials, as ancient astronaut theorists propose,
00:58:53have they remained in contact with humanity throughout the ages?
00:58:58And do they target select individuals for telepathic communication?
00:59:05Perhaps further clues can be found by examining the account of a genius mathematician
00:59:11who claimed he was visited by an otherworldly being.
00:59:16You know, it's fascinating how a single individual can have such a huge influence on human history.
00:59:25Great thinkers like Leonardo da Vinci, Plato, Einstein, the list goes on and on.
00:59:31And in many cases, there's a story of contact or communication with the higher intelligence that influenced them.
00:59:39Well, this is exactly what my Greek ancestors referred to when they talked about, for example, the Muses,
00:59:45who were these goddesses that were known to impart knowledge,
00:59:49but also were great inspiration for literature, inventions and scientific discoveries.
00:59:56Yeah. And, you know, even in modern times, we have people like Steve Jobs,
01:00:00who said they got information while in meditation.
01:00:03So you have to ask yourself whether these people were getting information from extraterrestrials.
01:00:09Billions of people around the world consider holy books like the Bible and the Koran to be the word of God.
01:00:26Hundreds of millions of Hindus view the Mahabharata as a guide to spiritual enlightenment,
01:00:32handed down by the god Lord Krishna himself.
01:00:37Each of these holy books contains religious principles in the form of philosophies, parables and moral codes.
01:00:47Messages from beyond our ordinary knowledge seem to come in a variety of forms.
01:00:52A visitation, a dream, sometimes an object, tablet, a golden plate, a book.
01:01:00So it helps. A book is an ordinary object we are familiar with.
01:01:03And yet, if it's seen as divinely inspired, we can take it as more than an ordinary book.
01:01:09The great majority of mankind today regards the Bible, the Torah and the Koran as the word of God.
01:01:19But is it possible that these books were nothing else but guiding books of how we should conduct our lives?
01:01:30And that these moral codes were in fact given to us by extraterrestrials whom our ancestors thought were gods.
01:01:44I don't think the Mahabharata is a work of fiction. It's an actual history.
01:01:51And the history given in the Mahabharata includes not only actions of human beings on Earth.
01:02:01It also includes actions of extraterrestrials on other planets and on this Earth in interaction with human beings here.
01:02:14Cultures all over the world believe deities and other non-human entities
01:02:20frequently communicated through intermediaries known as prophets.
01:02:26In the Koran, it's written that God has sent over 100,000 prophets throughout history.
01:02:33Many Native American cultures believed God spoke to them through shamans, much like the oracles of ancient Greece.
01:02:43An oracle is a person, but a person in some divine state, an altered state of some kind,
01:02:49who is able to hear the voices of the gods and then translate it into accessible human language.
01:02:56But could the same phenomenon apply to Judeo-Christian religious texts?
01:03:02Might biblical stories of angels and miracles actually be misinterpretations of ancient alien contact or inspiration?
01:03:11The visitations or apparitions come to give some gift, to open the mind, to lead to a new perception,
01:03:20to lead to a new possibility, either a new artistic take on something or a new plan for humanity.
01:03:30Often we're trapped in some kind of thinking that needs to break beyond its known limits, but we're caught.
01:03:35We are unable to see, to get a transcendent perspective.
01:03:39And that is what the visitation makes possible.
01:03:42If that is true, there might be additional evidence of alien contact
01:03:48by examining breakthroughs in the fields of astronomy, archaeology, and physics.
01:03:55Or perhaps what is arguably the most universal of all languages, mathematics.
01:04:04Cambridge University, England, February 1913.
01:04:10Mathematics professor Godfrey H. Hardy receives a letter containing complex mathematical theorems and formulas
01:04:18from 26-year-old Srinivasa Ramanujan of India.
01:04:23The distinguished scholar is stunned by what he reads.
01:04:28Hardy looks at these theorems and says,
01:04:30My God, we've never seen anything like this.
01:04:33This is mathematics of the highest order.
01:04:35It's so convoluted and complex that nobody could have come up with this by their imagination.
01:04:41There has to be something here.
01:04:44An acknowledged genius and mathematical prodigy since childhood,
01:04:49Ramanujan was devoutly religious.
01:04:52And often claimed his breakthroughs were communicated to him in his dreams by the Hindu goddess Namagiri.
01:05:01In the decades since, his theorems have proved to be invaluable to those working in cutting-edge fields like string theory.
01:05:10All of the science that we need to eventually be able to create portals, stargate travel, hyperdimensional access mechanisms,
01:05:20levitation, teleportation, it all needs a mathematical foundation.
01:05:26And the closest that we have right now is the Ramayan equations that we've been able to decipher so far,
01:05:34which came to him directly from this goddess who appeared to him in dreams.
01:05:40Could Ramanujan have been telepathically receiving important information that might enable humans to build a portal or stargate to other dimensions or alien worlds?
01:05:57And if so, was this insight imparted by an extraterrestrial being?
01:06:04As far as ancient astronaut theorists are concerned, the answer is a resounding yes.
01:06:11And they suggest Ramanujan is just one of many great thinkers who have received knowledge from an otherworldly source.
01:06:22The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awards Albert Einstein with the Nobel Prize in Science for his groundbreaking contributions to theoretical physics.
01:06:41But what separated Einstein from his contemporaries?
01:06:45How did the 42-year-old physicist achieve such a seemingly perfect blueprint of the universe?
01:06:52We see that across time and space we have pockets of people who have received tremendous amounts of information,
01:06:58which really have propelled civilization along.
01:07:01Obviously the question then is, do they have special brains?
01:07:04Or is this just something which happens by concentrating on the right thing to access this information?
01:07:10Is it possible that Albert Einstein's practice of thought experiments allowed his genetically advanced brain to receive messages from a metaphysical realm,
01:07:22as ancient astronaut theorists believe?
01:07:25If so, could there be evidence of other geniuses across human history whose greatest breakthroughs materialized through altered states of consciousness?
01:07:42Athens, Greece.
01:07:44Outside the Academy of Athens sits a statue of a war hero and the founding father of Western philosophy, Socrates.
01:08:00Socrates' contemporaries describe the philosopher as being strange in many ways, including spending hours each day consumed by his own thoughts.
01:08:11One of the most stunning examples of Socrates' daydreaming actually happens while on campaign as a soldier at the siege of Potidaea.
01:08:24Socrates was caught in the grip of a thought or an idea.
01:08:30And he remained fixed and thinking silently for an hour, for another hour, for another hour.
01:08:40He displayed an extraordinary endurance that his peers may have found odd and suspicious and puzzling.
01:08:54We often think that a genius is eccentric, but I think some of their eccentricity comes from the fact that they really are in touch with other realities.
01:09:02In the case of Socrates, he said that he was able to access a demon.
01:09:07Now, a demon for Socrates is not some evil creature.
01:09:13But the ancient Greeks had this subcategory of gods who really were talking to human beings, explaining the mysteries of life to us, explaining why we were here.
01:09:25Is Socrates' so-called demon evidence that the founder of Western philosophy was mentally unstable?
01:09:36Or could Socrates' demon be proof that he was in contact with an extraterrestrial intelligence that was sending him messages from a distant realm in the cosmos?
01:09:48I think it's too easy just to say that, yeah, Socrates was nuts or that he was schizophrenic or that he was hearing voices.
01:09:58The demon is some kind of messenger or some kind of bridge between him and the realm of the metaphysical that he is trying to attain.
01:10:06Did Socrates' practice of deep meditation connect him to an extraterrestrial intelligence, as some ancient astronaut theorists contend?
01:10:20If so, could there be other geniuses with similar claims that they received information from a higher realm while in a trance-like state?
01:10:29In the case of Leonardo da Vinci, in his writings, he describes laying down on a bed in his room and taking a candle and placing the candle at the foot of the bed.
01:10:43And he would lie down in the bed and look at the flickering of the flame on the ceiling, and it would put him into a very, very deep state in which he would be able to imagine and come up with new ideas.
01:10:53Puccini said that his great opera, Madama Butterfly, was from God, that he wrote it down, but it came directly from a divine source.
01:11:03William Blake, whose entire opus, his writing and painting was based on repeated angelic visitations.
01:11:12Brahm said that his music came from something beyond himself.
01:11:15We don't know if they're in fact receiving communication from some divine or powerful source beyond their own skin, or if they may be in touch with their own unconscious or deeper wisdom that they're not customarily hearing from.
01:11:30In the 1900s, Serbian-born inventor Nikola Tesla pioneered modern electrical engineering and was the driving force behind today's wireless technology.
01:11:47In his writings, Tesla describes his method of approaching a complex engineering problem.
01:11:52Nikola Tesla was someone who wrote extensively about using very, very powerful visualizations.
01:12:03In fact, he said that he was able to visualize a motor and then actually run research and development R&D on the motor in his mind so that he could tell where there might be, for example, mistakes or flaws.
01:12:18And he would be able to do almost all of that in his mind in these altered states of consciousness.
01:12:25Nikola Tesla is a person who believes in the existence of extraterrestrial beings.
01:12:31He is a person who really believes that he can communicate with other galaxies.
01:12:39Perhaps the greatest piece of evidence, that Tesla believed he was in communication with other worldly beings,
01:12:46can be found in a letter he sent to the American Red Cross in December of 1900.
01:12:54In the letter he writes,
01:12:55we have a message from another world, unknown and remote.
01:13:01It reads, one, two, three.
01:13:07Tesla was a genius with certain eccentricities.
01:13:11Everything he did was in threes.
01:13:12And it is interesting, I think, because this is a level of symbolism when we realize that so many of our ancestors,
01:13:20whenever they are talking about communication with the divine and how the divine downloaded this information to them,
01:13:26we'll see this rich layer of symbolism there as well.
01:13:28Can it only be coincidence that many of the greatest minds in human history claim to have received information from an otherworldly source?
01:13:41Or could it be possible that Socrates, Nikola Tesla, Srinivasa Ramanujan, as well as other geniuses in human history,
01:13:50were using altered states of consciousness to access an alien realm?
01:13:56According to ancient astronaut theorists, telepathy is just one of the many mysterious ways extraterrestrials continue to relay messages to humanity.
01:14:08You know, it's interesting to look at all these stories of alien messengers essentially shaping human history.
01:14:18But the even bigger question is, where does any of this lead to?
01:14:23Because I think we all agree that this is still going on today.
01:14:27Yes, and all three of us know people who claim that they've had contact with extraterrestrials.
01:14:34So if this is really happening, you would think that there's some important reason behind it.
01:14:40Oh, definitely. One of the most fascinating modern stories of someone who's claimed to receive alien messages
01:14:46comes from the famous Rendlesham Forest incident, which we first covered way back in Season 2.
01:14:50October 2010. For nearly 30 years after their alleged encounter with an unidentified aircraft in England's Rendlesham Forest,
01:15:04retired military airmen James Penniston and John Burroughs rarely spoke to each other about the incident.
01:15:11Yet both men remained haunted by their experience.
01:15:14That was the life-changing event that happened out there. You know, the problem with life-changing events, they affect you for your life.
01:15:26I want to know what it was. I think there's people out there in our government have a better idea.
01:15:32And they could tell us what went on, what happened to us.
01:15:35But I don't know how to tell you for sure what it was and where it came from.
01:15:39Shortly after his reported encounter, James Penniston had felt compelled to write down the long and complex numerical sequence of ones and zeros he claimed he saw when he touched the spacecraft.
01:15:56But were they really just random numbers?
01:15:59I was getting this, not from memory, but this metal picture of these codes written out, this binary type code.
01:16:10So I tried to suppress it, but I just had this urge to put these down.
01:16:16We now realize that the best way of communicating with an ancient civilization is the binary code.
01:16:23If we know this, then obviously anybody else in the universe will know this as well.
01:16:33And when we know that our ancestors, either on their own or with some help from strangers, knew this as well, then we realize that really the binary code is the best, if not the only means, of alien communication.
01:16:47For three decades, Penniston kept the mysterious numerical sequence hidden between the covers of his Air Force notebook.
01:16:59There, they remained unexamined and undeciphered.
01:17:03I was scared to death.
01:17:06I was sitting there going, okay, there's something wrong with you, Jim.
01:17:10You're not right.
01:17:12You're not thinking straight.
01:17:14This stuff is so bizarre.
01:17:16You can't tell anybody this.
01:17:18They'll take your gun away from you.
01:17:20They'll kick you out.
01:17:22All those things were in jeopardy.
01:17:24That's what I was thinking about at that moment.
01:17:26That if I started telling anybody exactly what I was thinking, that would be the end of it.
01:17:30The refusal of the call is probably an experience all thoughtful people have.
01:17:37That is, there is some project, some task, some mission, but we waver.
01:17:43We doubt ourselves and don't immediately respond to our destiny.
01:17:48This is not a good thing.
01:17:53After eventually leaving the Air Force and returning to the United States,
01:17:56Penniston found he was being haunted by persistent dreams, both about his experience in the forest and the meaning of the mysterious numerical message he received.
01:18:14What do they mean? I don't know. I've never had them analyzed or anything like that.
01:18:21I mean, we were out there doing our jobs with a situation that we've never handled before.
01:18:26In October 2010, Penniston entrusted his six handwritten pages of ones and zeros to a computer programmer.
01:18:39He hoped the apparently random series of numbers could be translated into something resembling a readable message.
01:18:46Could someone write out six pages of binary? Well, probably not.
01:18:52They would need some help or they would have to be some kind of savant or super calculator.
01:18:58I started transcribing it into my computer to see what I might find.
01:19:03I thought it's not going to come out to anything.
01:19:05And then something that appeared to be a real message regarding aliens emerged.
01:19:11To his astonishment, after plugging the numbers into a computer, a fragmentary sentence emerged.
01:19:19It stated,
01:19:20Exploration of humanity continuous for planetary advance.
01:19:27Another portion of the message revealed what appeared to be navigational coordinates.
01:19:34Could this now decoded series of numbers actually be the evidence the human race has been searching for?
01:19:43Proof that we are not alone.
01:19:47Exploration of humanity is that for good or for evil?
01:19:54Planetary advancement is that advancing the human race as many have theorized.
01:20:00Or is that the advancement of some armada coming to conquer Earth?
01:20:04As for the navigational coordinates,
01:20:08Amazingly, they point to the geographic location of a mysterious sunken island known in Celtic legend as High Brazil.
01:20:17It was said to be the home of a civilization thousands of years ahead of its time.
01:20:23It is also occasionally referred to as the other Atlantis.
01:20:27High Brazil was believed to be a mysterious land in which the people living there had a high degree of civilization.
01:20:35They used sound technology and vibrational healing technology.
01:20:43They were highly ethical, highly moral people.
01:20:46And they considered everyone over in Europe to be barbarians and they did not want to mix with them at all.
01:20:51They enjoyed the isolation and the seclusion.
01:20:55But if the strange binary message in Penniston's notebook list the coordinates of High Brazil, what does it mean?
01:21:04They may be ancient astronauts and the Rendlesham Forest incident could have been them coming back,
01:21:12finding a person who was ready to receive the message, who had the right tuning to receive the message,
01:21:18to let us know that the people we call the High Brazilians are still out there and they want us to be ready to accept in the future some sort of open Congress and communication between our world and theirs.
01:21:33Does the phrase exploration of humanity continuous for planetary advance and the strange geographic coordinates that point to a lost island really provide evidence that we are being visited and perhaps studied by visitors from another world?
01:21:53It's now very clear that the one constant in human history has been contact with celestial or extraterrestrial beings.
01:22:05And we're, I think, in agreement that they're not here to help break us down, they're here to help us break through.
01:22:11They're here to take us to higher levels of evolution.
01:22:15Yeah, they can teach us to do things, but ultimately they can't do them for us.
01:22:20We have to do it.
01:22:21They want us to do things for ourselves.
01:22:25Right, and ultimately the idea may be that we too one day will go out there to spread information, science and knowledge.
01:22:34And hopefully we'll be able to join this intergalactic club.
