00:00:00civilizations, teachers who came from light years away, and powerful entities revered as sky gods
00:00:09and star beings. For nearly two decades, ancient aliens has traveled the globe exploring towering
00:00:20megalithic structures, mysterious artifacts, and stories of otherworldly beings in a quest for
00:00:28evidence that might reveal the truth of our extraterrestrial origins. According to the
00:00:34ancient astronaut theory, these visitors from the sky have been interacting with our ancestors for
00:00:41thousands of years. Now we take a look back through the ancient aliens archives to the show's
00:00:48very origins to examine the evidence that we are not alone. We have never been alone.
00:00:58It's truly incredible to look back at well over a decade's worth of ancient aliens episodes and see
00:01:10everything that the show's covered. Megalithic sites, mysterious artifacts, strange artwork, and of
00:01:17course the stories of our ancestors. Yeah, and those stories are critically important because in
00:01:24culture after culture, our ancestors tell us that visitors from the sky descended to impart knowledge.
00:01:34I mean, they essentially helped jumpstart civilization. Yeah, along with all those amazing stories are also
00:01:40those depictions of ancient rock art and ancient rock carvings, which clearly show what we would
00:01:46consider aliens today. Right, and so we'll be looking at a lot of this ancient evidence. We'll begin
00:01:52with the second episode of Ancient Aliens called The Visitors. It begins with the Roswell Incident,
00:01:58but as we all know, star beings were here long before that.
00:02:03Roswell, New Mexico. This sleepy town in America's southwest was once best known for its large military airbase, but that changed in 1947 when a local rancher reported
00:02:33that a spaceship crashed on its property. Several weeks later, the U.S. Army issued a press release confirming the existence of an alien craft.
00:02:45The next day, the military changed its story and announced that what they had found was a weather balloon.
00:02:52These conflicting reports sent shockwaves around the world, and the name Roswell became a pop culture code word that forever links extraterrestrial visitation with enduring mystery.
00:03:07Speculation about why the Roswell crash would be covered up is difficult to pin down. Some people talk about this in terms of information that would be shattering to our world view.
00:03:24Almost everyone's heard about the so-called Roswell event, and one of the real implications of disclosure is that some of our most cherished myths about the origins of the human race and our history and archaeology would fall apart.
00:03:44Each step that we take makes us a little bit less special. We used to think that we were the center of the universe as humans, and then we realized, oh, all right, well, that's not true.
00:03:56But we're the center of the galaxy, and like, well, all right, so we're like two-thirds of the way out in a spiral arm.
00:04:01And then, well, at least our sun, you know, the sun is actually in the middle and the earth goes around it, so earth isn't even the center of that system.
00:04:10And so the more that we learn, we sort of, you know, it's a very humbling science.
00:04:18When man first landed on the moon, our perspective on the universe changed forever.
00:04:25Listen, the angle has landed.
00:04:27We aliens who happened to go down the ladder on July 20th, 1969, we aliens were certainly part of a magnificent race.
00:04:49I just don't think people have a grasp for what energy it takes to go from one star to another.
00:05:04This historic event raised the question, if humans can successfully navigate in space and explore other worlds,
00:05:13why couldn't beings from other parts of the universe have done the same?
00:05:17And might they have already come to earth, hundreds or perhaps thousands of years ago?
00:05:26I think human past is more fantastic than we all believe.
00:05:32I have come to the idea that maybe extraterrestrials were on this planet.
00:05:43Coahuachi, Peru.
00:05:47Two thousand years ago, this ancient settlement served as the religious and cultural capital of the Nazca people.
00:05:57But sometime around 500 A.D., the Nazca mysteriously disappeared, leaving Coahuachi to fall into disarray.
00:06:06Fourteen hundred years later, in 1910, anthropologist Ola Shirlichka came to Coahuachi to study the ancient Nazca civilization.
00:06:20During a dig, he unearthed some of the most surprising and shocking artifacts he had ever seen.
00:06:26They were skulls with enormous, elongated craniums.
00:06:40Where did they come from?
00:06:42How did they get there?
00:06:44And were they human?
00:06:46In Peru, we find these weird, elongated skulls.
00:06:54And they're bizarre looking.
00:06:57I mean, and these people look like aliens.
00:07:00One may say, okay, aliens.
00:07:08But another aspect that we have to consider is that skull and cranial deformation, forming elongated heads,
00:07:17is a practice that's known throughout much of the ancient world.
00:07:21In 1870, the process of skull deformation was well chronicled by a German botanist and explorer named George Schweinfurth.
00:07:32While exploring the African Congo, he came in contact with a tribe called the Monk Betu.
00:07:39They routinely performed a ritual of cranial binding that allowed them to physically alter the shape of human skulls.
00:07:47They took infants' skulls and compressed them and bound them.
00:07:57And they forced the cranium out and elongated.
00:08:02And in many cases, they doubled the size.
00:08:08And a big question is, why was this being done?
00:08:11It may have been a way to distinguish the elite, perhaps, from the everyday people.
00:08:20It may have been a social stratification type of issue.
00:08:24Something that also appeals to me is that it may have been a way to express physically,
00:08:31and maybe try to achieve physically, greater levels of consciousness or higher levels of mental ability.
00:08:40In my opinion, they did this in order to mimic the gods.
00:08:48And those gods were physical beings, because if they were just a figment of our ancestors' imagination,
00:08:57I don't think that's a compelling enough reason to expose your children to such a ritual to achieve that type of look.
00:09:07And in my opinion, these people were misinterpreted flesh and blood space travelers.
00:09:16Whatever the explanation may be for these rituals, they are not just found in Peru and the African Congo.
00:09:24Skull deformation is a global phenomenon.
00:09:27What's really strange is that this is found all over the world.
00:09:36And this is something that archaeologists cannot easily explain.
00:09:39Because for people on remote islands, for people in South America or Malta or in Africa,
00:09:47to suddenly independently do this cranial deformation like this seems incredible.
00:09:55Is it possible that individual societies around the world were influenced by similar events?
00:10:05And were they imitating real beings who visited from other planets?
00:10:10Some of the most compelling images of an elongated cranium can be traced to ancient Egypt
00:10:16and the depictions of one of its most controversial pharaohs.
00:10:20Could it be that he, too, was mimicking the look of extraterrestrials?
00:10:26Or is there an even more outrageous explanation?
00:10:31Could he have been one of them?
00:10:33Egypt, long before the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids, or even settled along the Nile River.
00:10:52They spoke of an era called Tep-Zepi, or the beginning of time.
00:10:57According to legends, Tep-Zepi was when sky gods descended from the stars to Earth on flying boats,
00:11:06and then turned mud and water into a new kingdom.
00:11:12The word god, according to the ancient Egyptians, is netheru.
00:11:17It means a being that came from the cosmos.
00:11:22They're very adamant about the fact that their gods had descended from the stars.
00:11:27They tell us that the god Osiris, who ruled with his consort and sister, the goddess Isis,
00:11:33they were star gods, and in fact, they identified them very clearly.
00:11:37Osiris was identified with the constellation of Orion.
00:11:41Isis was identified with the god to the star Sirius, the brightest star in the sky.
00:11:47There's an interesting point about this, is that within the constellation of Orion
00:11:51is the so-called nursery of stars.
00:11:53The stars in our galaxy literally were born in that zone.
00:12:01And it's very peculiar that the ancient Egyptians insist that the birth of star gods are in this constellation.
00:12:08They truly believed, they were very adamant about this, that their origins is in the sky.
00:12:13Something that we see around the world with ancient civilizations is that they had
00:12:25incredible knowledge of the stars, of the planets, of the heavenly motions.
00:12:31The average person in the ancient world had way more knowledge of what's going on in the skies
00:12:38than a lot of well-educated people today.
00:12:42As ancient Egypt grew into a great civilization, its citizens believed their pharaohs were sons
00:12:53of Osiris, and thus, living gods.
00:12:57Artwork and wall carvings depicted them as perfect humans.
00:13:01And while the people worshipped many different gods, the pharaoh stood above them all.
00:13:07This basic Egyptian religious belief remained in force for nearly a thousand years,
00:13:13until one pharaoh changed everything.
00:13:18Who was this heretic?
00:13:22His name was Akhenaten, and in every surviving depiction he is shown with an elongated skull.
00:13:30Who was he?
00:13:31According to Egyptian mythology, he too was descended from the gods, who arrived on earth at the time
00:13:39of Tebsepi.
00:13:41But why do so many still believe he actually came from the stars?
00:13:47In 1352 BC, Akhenaten ascended to the throne as the 10th pharaoh of the 18th dynasty.
00:13:54Almost immediately, he instituted a series of radical religious changes, including a ban
00:14:02on references to multiple gods.
00:14:07It's a rather strange thing that he would want to do that in one sweep, but he ordered
00:14:12all the iconography of previous gods to be removed.
00:14:16He only allowed one emblem, which was the sun emblem, literally a sun disk, with curious
00:14:21arms or rays pouring down.
00:14:23Why did he do this?
00:14:27Because according to his writings and his poems that were written about him later on, he was
00:14:35visited by one of those beings that descended from the sky, who told Akhenaten, this is the
00:14:44way, I am your god.
00:14:48This sun god was known as Atan.
00:14:50Akhenaten claimed to be a direct descendant of Aden.
00:14:56Akhenaten, like any other pharaoh, regarded himself to be divine.
00:15:03He was a god.
00:15:04Not only himself believed himself to be god, but the whole nation saw him as a god.
00:15:08Now, the definition of god is that he was a descendant from these celestial beings.
00:15:20During his fourth year as pharaoh, Akhenaten ordered the construction of a new capital city.
00:15:26He called it Amarna and dedicated it to the sun.
00:15:33Akhenaten would spend the next ten years here, during which time he instituted changes in
00:15:39both art and culture, including how he himself would be publicly depicted.
00:15:44In Egyptian iconography, the Egyptian pharaohs are depicted as these triangular-shaped beings,
00:15:52these broad, strong shoulders and these very skinny waists.
00:15:56Now, we look at leaders today and we know that most leaders don't have broad shoulders and
00:16:00skinny waists.
00:16:01But it was important to depict the Egyptian kings as having broad shoulders and skinny waists,
00:16:07very, you know, the epitome of what a king ought to look like.
00:16:14That's exactly the opposite with Akhenaten.
00:16:16He shows himself perhaps as he really is, a rather strange look.
00:16:22He has a very mystical look.
00:16:23If we take Akhenaten's statues, for instance, literally, he was a very strange-looking character.
00:16:36Sort of combined, some people would say, feminine aspects with masculine aspects,
00:16:44may have had an elongated skull.
00:16:48The change in royal iconography of Akhenaten showed him,
00:16:52as he probably really was, with a misshapen head, with a potbelly, with a sunken chest,
00:16:58as opposed to the idealized iconography of traditional Egyptian artists
00:17:06that showed this big, strong pharaoh.
00:17:14Akhenaten's wife, Queen Nefertiti, and their children
00:17:17were also depicted as having elongated skulls.
00:17:22So why were Akhenaten's and Nefertiti's heads deformed?
00:17:26Did they suffer from a genetic abnormality?
00:17:29Or did they deliberately alter their shape?
00:17:33Some believe there could be yet another explanation
00:17:36behind their strange, otherworldly appearance.
00:17:39They look like they're different than other human beings.
00:17:50Is it possible that Akhenaten might have been an extraterrestrial hybrid?
00:17:57I mean, he's got a very narrow, pointy face, high cheekbones,
00:18:03and a very elongated cranium.
00:18:06The idea that they were either looking like extraterrestrials
00:18:11or perhaps had extraterrestrial DNA in them
00:18:15is a credible idea.
00:18:21Akhenaten ruled for 17 years.
00:18:25After his reign, Amarna was abandoned
00:18:27and temples to the sun were destroyed.
00:18:31Images of Akhenaten were deliberately defaced.
00:18:35Ancient Egypt swiftly returned to its old ways,
00:18:38worshipping many gods.
00:18:41Was this a rejection of Akhenaten's radical religious belief system
00:18:45or a cover-up of his alien identity?
00:18:52There's been a lot of theories about why.
00:18:56If, if, I mean, the most extreme
00:18:58is that he somehow had some sort of extraterrestrial connection.
00:19:01If one accepts that conclusion,
00:19:05then it would explain
00:19:06why he was literally put off the reign
00:19:09and some say put to death.
00:19:13Today, much of Akhenaten's life
00:19:16still remains a mystery.
00:19:18Did he really change Egypt's entire belief system
00:19:22because, as some suggest,
00:19:24he was a celestial being?
00:19:27If that's true,
00:19:29might there be evidence
00:19:30of similar entities coming to Earth?
00:19:33Perhaps more clues can be found
00:19:35thousands of miles away
00:19:37on the other side of the African continent.
00:19:45When we talk about ancient Egypt,
00:19:47evidence for extraterrestrial visitation
00:19:49is everywhere you look.
00:19:52But what I find so fascinating
00:19:53is that every ancient culture
00:19:56essentially documented
00:19:57a physical interaction
00:19:59with so-called star deities.
00:20:03Yeah, and especially if you look at, like,
00:20:04the Dogon of Africa,
00:20:05they still exist today,
00:20:07and they mention visitors from outer space,
00:20:09but they also give the specific star
00:20:11from which they came from.
00:20:12Yes.
00:20:13And, of course,
00:20:13the most amazing part of that
00:20:15is they identified a star
00:20:17that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
00:20:19Right.
00:20:19And the Dogon had known about this star
00:20:21for hundreds of years.
00:20:26Mali, in northwest Africa.
00:20:30Deep in a remote valley
00:20:31live the Dogon people,
00:20:33who are the descendants
00:20:34of a nomadic tribe
00:20:35that settled here
00:20:36around 1,000 A.D.
00:20:38Just like Akhenaten's followers,
00:20:42the Dogon had been forced to leave Egypt
00:20:44because of religious persecution.
00:20:49The Dogon is a very long
00:20:51and ancient tradition,
00:20:53and, in my opinion,
00:20:54maintain some of the ancient Egyptian
00:20:58traditions and myths
00:21:00that have been carried on
00:21:01right into the present age.
00:21:03Parts of ancient Egypt
00:21:07may not have died.
00:21:08They were carried on
00:21:10to this day
00:21:11among the Dogon.
00:21:16But what exactly
00:21:17are their beliefs?
00:21:19Dogon mythology holds
00:21:21that the sky god Amma
00:21:23created the first living creature
00:21:25known as Namo.
00:21:27The legend also says
00:21:29that shortly after his creation,
00:21:31Namo multiplied into several parts,
00:21:35one of which rebelled
00:21:36against Amma.
00:21:38Amma responded
00:21:39by destroying him
00:21:40and scattering his ashes
00:21:42throughout the world.
00:21:46According to the Dogon myths,
00:21:49a god gave them this knowledge.
00:21:51He descended from the sky
00:21:53in an ark surfing on fire
00:21:55and landed in the storm.
00:22:01Still today,
00:22:03Dogon celebrates
00:22:05a festival
00:22:06in the honor of Namo
00:22:08and that visitation
00:22:10that occurred
00:22:11in the remote past.
00:22:14How do we know this?
00:22:16For this festival,
00:22:18they have wooden masks
00:22:20that date back
00:22:22to a very long time ago
00:22:25when this festival began.
00:22:28Their knowledge
00:22:33is centuries old
00:22:34and their priests
00:22:35have been sharing it
00:22:36with chosen individuals only.
00:22:40In the 1920s,
00:22:43French anthropologist
00:22:44Griel
00:22:44and ethnologist
00:22:46Dieterlen
00:22:46visited the tribe
00:22:48and were invited
00:22:48to share their secrets.
00:22:49But one secret stood out.
00:22:57The Dogon claimed
00:22:58that their god Amma
00:22:59came from a specific star
00:23:01in the Sirius constellation,
00:23:03the same place
00:23:05where the ancient Egyptians
00:23:06believed their god Osiris
00:23:08was born.
00:23:10This star,
00:23:12which modern astronomers
00:23:13refer to as Sirius B,
00:23:15the Dogon called Hotolo.
00:23:17But what baffles experts
00:23:20is that the star
00:23:21is so far from Earth
00:23:22it's impossible to see
00:23:24with the naked eye.
00:23:28I was very intrigued
00:23:29by this, by the way.
00:23:30I mean,
00:23:30the Dogons
00:23:31should not have known
00:23:33about the existence
00:23:33of this star.
00:23:35Sirius is the second
00:23:36nearest star
00:23:37from our solar system.
00:23:39It's eight light years away.
00:23:41In fact,
00:23:41it's not even visible
00:23:42with standard telescopes.
00:23:44It was first seen,
00:23:46literally seen,
00:23:47and photographed
00:23:47in the 1970s.
00:23:50Modern science
00:23:51has corroborated
00:23:53that Sirius B
00:23:54does indeed exist.
00:23:57Problem is,
00:23:58the Dogon knew about this
00:24:00before modern science
00:24:03corroborated it.
00:24:05I mean,
00:24:05that's spooky.
00:24:10Measurements taken
00:24:11with the Hubble telescope
00:24:12in 2003
00:24:13have confirmed
00:24:15that Sirius B
00:24:16is what's known
00:24:17as a white dwarf.
00:24:19We're a partially burnt-out star
00:24:21with extremely dense mass.
00:24:24Although it is smaller
00:24:26in size than Earth,
00:24:28it's estimated to weigh
00:24:29eight times as much
00:24:30as our sun.
00:24:32But how did the Dogon
00:24:34acquire this ancient knowledge
00:24:36of astronomy
00:24:36that seems to be
00:24:38centuries more advanced
00:24:39than that of modern science?
00:24:41The mystery is,
00:24:44how did this story
00:24:46get passed on
00:24:47down generations?
00:24:48If the story came
00:24:49from a time
00:24:50before astronomers knew
00:24:51there was a companion star
00:24:52to Sirius,
00:24:53which can't be seen
00:24:54with the human eye.
00:24:56This is the Dogon symbol
00:24:58for Sirius.
00:25:00When you move it around,
00:25:01you can see an orbit
00:25:02around the center
00:25:03marked by Sirius A.
00:25:06Sirius B circles around it,
00:25:08so it is a circular system.
00:25:10This sign is practically
00:25:11an astronomical model
00:25:13that the Dogon
00:25:14could not have invented
00:25:15because only Sirius A
00:25:17is visible.
00:25:19Sirius B and C
00:25:20are invisible.
00:25:22However,
00:25:23their description
00:25:23of the orbit
00:25:24is correct.
00:25:26One assumption
00:25:27is that this god,
00:25:29Namo,
00:25:29who brought them
00:25:30this knowledge,
00:25:31could have been
00:25:32an extraterrestrial
00:25:33intelligence.
00:25:34Either they inherited
00:25:36that knowledge,
00:25:37and the question
00:25:37is from where?
00:25:38From a previous
00:25:39civilization,
00:25:40or from some sort
00:25:41of extraterrestrial
00:25:42civilization,
00:25:43or it's a coincidence.
00:25:44In my view,
00:25:45it is not a coincidence.
00:25:48If the Dogon people
00:25:50really possessed
00:25:51this advanced
00:25:52astronomical knowledge,
00:25:54were their legends
00:25:55based on real events?
00:25:56The ancient Egyptians
00:26:00and Dogon
00:26:01were far from alone
00:26:02in their belief
00:26:03in gods
00:26:03or mystical beings
00:26:05that came from the sky.
00:26:09Is there an explanation
00:26:11for similar myths
00:26:12shared by ancient cultures
00:26:14all around the world?
00:26:16And what does that reveal
00:26:18as to who these visitors
00:26:19may be?
00:26:21Perhaps the answer
00:26:22can be found
00:26:23not in northern Africa,
00:26:25but here.
00:26:26in the rocks
00:26:28and canyons
00:26:29of the American Southwest.
00:26:4130 miles south
00:26:42of Gallup, New Mexico
00:26:43lies the Pueblo of Zuni.
00:26:51Sheltered from
00:26:52the desolate high plains,
00:26:53this adobe city
00:26:54is home to the Zuni Indians.
00:26:56one of the oldest
00:26:57indigenous tribes
00:26:58in North America.
00:27:01They have inhabited
00:27:02this land
00:27:03for almost 2,000 years
00:27:05and have protected
00:27:06their secrets
00:27:07even longer.
00:27:12The Zuni
00:27:12are a very interesting
00:27:14culture in that
00:27:14they're one of the few
00:27:15cultures that really
00:27:16have not opened up
00:27:17to the rest of the world
00:27:19about their
00:27:20star knowledge traditions.
00:27:21most of this type
00:27:22of information
00:27:23is very closely held
00:27:24by the natives.
00:27:26And I really find it
00:27:28very intriguing
00:27:30that this is the time
00:27:31period in history
00:27:32where now we're starting
00:27:33to learn more and more
00:27:34about their star knowledge.
00:27:40Much of the Zuni
00:27:42people's history
00:27:42is etched in the rocks
00:27:44in the New Mexico desert.
00:27:45Tribal elder
00:27:54Clifford Mahouti
00:27:55and archaeologist
00:27:56Dan Simplicio
00:27:57have studied the Zuni's
00:27:59secret history
00:28:00firsthand.
00:28:02They've collected stories
00:28:03passed down
00:28:04through generations
00:28:05that are rooted
00:28:06in the belief
00:28:07that the tribe's
00:28:08creators and protectors
00:28:09are supernatural beings
00:28:11from the sky.
00:28:12This one's kind
00:28:14of interesting here.
00:28:16I would imagine
00:28:17it was created
00:28:18in the last century
00:28:19but on this design
00:28:21you can see
00:28:22the star figure.
00:28:24Celestial images
00:28:26oftentimes are depicted
00:28:27in a lot of our
00:28:28cultural petroglyphs
00:28:29and this is one of them
00:28:31where it depicts
00:28:31the star.
00:28:33It could be
00:28:34the supernova
00:28:35of the crab nebula.
00:28:39Our Zuni mythology
00:28:41in the prayer
00:28:42system
00:28:42and the ritualistic
00:28:44protocols
00:28:45talk about
00:28:46these people
00:28:47that came over here
00:28:48and told us
00:28:49how to actually
00:28:50live our lives
00:28:51as being
00:28:52sky people.
00:28:57If you listen
00:28:58to a lot of
00:28:59religious chants
00:29:01and songs
00:29:01and prayers
00:29:02that's all
00:29:02they talk about.
00:29:03They're talking
00:29:04about space
00:29:05they're talking
00:29:06about out there
00:29:06in the universe
00:29:07where they came from
00:29:08so they depicted
00:29:10on a rock wall
00:29:11here but the actual
00:29:12meaning of it
00:29:13is somewhere
00:29:13more profound
00:29:15and more complex
00:29:16than that.
00:29:19These drawings
00:29:20are thought to have
00:29:21been created
00:29:22around 1200 B.C.
00:29:24yet they appear
00:29:25to depict
00:29:25modern space travelers
00:29:26and their vehicles.
00:29:32If you move back
00:29:33a little bit
00:29:34you can see
00:29:34another figure
00:29:36here.
00:29:37It has a dome
00:29:38as eyes
00:29:40there's something
00:29:42coming down
00:29:43like a nose
00:29:45through the nose
00:29:45but it kind of
00:29:46flirts out.
00:29:47I think it was
00:29:48something to do
00:29:49with the ancient ones
00:29:50when they saw
00:29:51something.
00:29:52They took as much
00:29:53description of it
00:29:54to put it on there.
00:29:55Of course it's not
00:29:56going to be exactly
00:29:57what they saw
00:29:57but that's as best
00:29:59as they can do
00:30:00for something
00:30:00that they saw.
00:30:03With all petroglyphs
00:30:04and things like that
00:30:06I mean they're
00:30:06up to interpretation
00:30:07sometimes they're
00:30:09just doodlings
00:30:10of people
00:30:11but other times
00:30:12they may well be
00:30:13actual descriptions
00:30:15and depictions
00:30:16of some kind
00:30:18of god
00:30:19from outer space
00:30:20some ancient astronaut
00:30:22and when you go
00:30:23around say
00:30:24like the Zuni
00:30:24Pueblo
00:30:25I mean that's
00:30:26what they'll tell you
00:30:27those petroglyphs
00:30:28aren't.
00:30:29Even the Zunis
00:30:30themselves
00:30:31call them
00:30:32the spacemen.
00:30:34This one seems
00:30:35to have
00:30:36two legs
00:30:37coming out
00:30:37like that
00:30:38and it has
00:30:38a broad
00:30:40diamond shaped
00:30:41body
00:30:42there probably
00:30:44was a bitter
00:30:44head that
00:30:45chipped off
00:30:45here
00:30:46that's
00:30:47very different
00:30:49looking than
00:30:49humans are.
00:30:51Now usually
00:30:52they're called
00:30:53UFOs
00:30:54but in the Zuni
00:30:55way
00:30:56we've always been
00:30:57taught that
00:30:58they're the keepers
00:30:59of the upper
00:31:00world
00:31:00which means
00:31:01space
00:31:01now they're
00:31:02sky people
00:31:03beings that are
00:31:05of the
00:31:05extraterrestrial
00:31:06origin
00:31:07and this is
00:31:09still within
00:31:09our mythology
00:31:10and our
00:31:11religious practices
00:31:12today.
00:31:18Like most
00:31:19Indian tribes
00:31:20the Zunis
00:31:21call these sky
00:31:22people
00:31:23Kachinas
00:31:23according to
00:31:25the Zunis
00:31:26creation story
00:31:27the Kachina
00:31:28gods
00:31:28came down
00:31:29from the heavens
00:31:30to lead the Zunis
00:31:31to earth
00:31:32through a special
00:31:32portal.
00:31:37The Zipapu
00:31:38that's the entrance
00:31:39to the fourth world
00:31:40or the underworld
00:31:42and that's a
00:31:43representation
00:31:44of where the Kachinas
00:31:46come and go
00:31:47and so
00:31:48according to
00:31:49the mythologies
00:31:50the Zunis
00:31:51were brought forth
00:31:53into the world
00:31:54of light
00:31:54which is
00:31:55where we are
00:31:56at today
00:31:56by what I would
00:31:58interpret as
00:31:58extraterrestrial beings
00:32:00from the universe.
00:32:08Every year
00:32:09the Zunis
00:32:10participate
00:32:10in a ceremony
00:32:11known as
00:32:12the Shilako
00:32:12festival.
00:32:14Dressed in
00:32:14traditional costumes
00:32:15to represent
00:32:16the Kachinas
00:32:17the Indians
00:32:18celebrate the
00:32:19arrival of
00:32:19the gods
00:32:20on earth.
00:32:24This is a
00:32:25figurine
00:32:26of Kachina
00:32:27gods
00:32:27and these
00:32:29guys are
00:32:29some gods
00:32:30from the sky
00:32:31who came down
00:32:32they wear
00:32:32weird helmets
00:32:34This one
00:32:35has a helmet
00:32:37as a head
00:32:38and if you look
00:32:39at the whole
00:32:41body of it
00:32:42it's as if
00:32:44it wears
00:32:44some type
00:32:45of a suit
00:32:46This one
00:32:47here also
00:32:48has the helmet
00:32:50and the visor
00:32:51for the Pueblo
00:32:53Indians
00:32:53like the Zunis
00:32:54these are
00:32:55their sky
00:32:56gods
00:32:56that every
00:32:57year
00:32:57they have
00:32:58special
00:32:58ceremonies
00:32:58people put
00:32:59on these
00:33:00special costumes
00:33:01and masks
00:33:01to reenact
00:33:02the coming
00:33:03of the gods
00:33:03They really
00:33:06look like
00:33:07ancient
00:33:07astronauts
00:33:08If you look
00:33:16at the poetry
00:33:17and the legends
00:33:18and the stories
00:33:19from American
00:33:20Indian tribes
00:33:21in the southwest
00:33:23they have the
00:33:24legend of the
00:33:25star people
00:33:26The star people
00:33:28came to earth
00:33:28and seeded
00:33:29planet earth
00:33:30and they came
00:33:31on flying ships
00:33:32If you speak
00:33:34to the elders
00:33:35they will tell you
00:33:36that a lot of us
00:33:37believe in the existence
00:33:38of extraterrestrials
00:33:39The Zunis
00:33:42don't have
00:33:43a written language
00:33:44The storyteller
00:33:46comes and he
00:33:46tells the young
00:33:47children how
00:33:48it all happened
00:33:48All of their
00:33:49songs that they
00:33:51do in their
00:33:51ceremonies
00:33:52tell the story
00:33:53over and over
00:33:54and that's how
00:33:56they pass down
00:33:57traditions
00:33:57customs
00:33:58beliefs
00:33:59They tell it
00:34:00in the Indian way
00:34:01They use things
00:34:02they understand
00:34:03to explain things
00:34:05that they don't
00:34:05understand
00:34:06I remember
00:34:07my grandparents
00:34:08talking about
00:34:09a craft
00:34:10that flew
00:34:11and had
00:34:12actually
00:34:12crash-landed
00:34:13on one of the
00:34:14mesas
00:34:15east of here
00:34:16There's no
00:34:19interpretation
00:34:20of what
00:34:21an aircraft
00:34:21is
00:34:22so
00:34:22the closest
00:34:23thing
00:34:24that they
00:34:24could
00:34:24interpret
00:34:25as anything
00:34:26capable
00:34:27of flight
00:34:27is a bird
00:34:28or our
00:34:29mass
00:34:29kachina
00:34:30dancers
00:34:30We're very
00:34:33very superstitious
00:34:35people
00:34:35It's always been
00:34:37in the history
00:34:37of Zuni
00:34:38that they've always
00:34:39been here
00:34:40even right here
00:34:42where we're sitting
00:34:42right now
00:34:43but you just don't see
00:34:44them
00:34:44they're in a different
00:34:45frequency
00:34:46and those are
00:34:47very very sacred
00:34:48and those are
00:34:49very very secret
00:34:50they're out there
00:34:51somewhere
00:34:52For those who believe
00:34:59that ancient astronauts
00:35:00came to earth
00:35:01thousands of years ago
00:35:03prehistoric artwork
00:35:05provides more clues
00:35:06than what they claim
00:35:07is a growing body
00:35:08of evidence
00:35:09from wall carvings
00:35:11and statues
00:35:12in ancient Egypt
00:35:13to tribal traditions
00:35:15and exotic masks
00:35:17in West Africa
00:35:18to petroglyphs
00:35:20in the American
00:35:21Southwest
00:35:22all thousands
00:35:24of years old
00:35:25they seem to recount
00:35:27similar stories
00:35:28of visitors
00:35:28from the skies
00:35:30Could the legends
00:35:32of alien beings
00:35:33visiting earth
00:35:34thousands of years ago
00:35:36have inspired
00:35:38more traditional
00:35:39beliefs
00:35:40Ancient petroglyphs
00:35:44are some of the
00:35:44best evidence
00:35:45that we have
00:35:45for the ancient
00:35:46astronaut theory
00:35:47I always found it
00:35:48intriguing to see
00:35:49that some of these
00:35:49carvings very clearly
00:35:51depict extraterrestrials
00:35:52Well for me
00:35:53equally compelling
00:35:54are ancient objects
00:35:56that have been found
00:35:57revealing a knowledge
00:35:58of aerodynamics
00:35:59like the Saqqara bird
00:36:00of Egypt
00:36:01or Giorgio's pen
00:36:02Yeah I wear this
00:36:03gold flyer pin
00:36:04all the time
00:36:05In fact I should be known
00:36:07as the guy
00:36:08with the pen
00:36:08Come on Giorgio
00:36:10you can't be the guy
00:36:11with the pen
00:36:12you're the guy
00:36:12with the hair
00:36:13All right
00:36:14No listen
00:36:15the reason why
00:36:16I wear this pen
00:36:17is because
00:36:17it's a replica
00:36:19of 17 artifacts
00:36:21that were found
00:36:22in pre-Columbian
00:36:24tomb sites
00:36:25and what's so interesting
00:36:26is that they have
00:36:28aerodynamic features
00:36:30in fact
00:36:31they fly
00:36:32We've covered this
00:36:33in season one
00:36:35of Ancient Aliens
00:36:36When backing up
00:36:40their claims
00:36:40of extraterrestrial
00:36:41visitation
00:36:42ancient alien theorists
00:36:44draw upon
00:36:45two kinds of examples
00:36:47There's the evidence
00:36:49you can read
00:36:50such as that
00:36:51found in ancient texts
00:36:52and then there's
00:36:54the evidence
00:36:54you can actually see
00:36:56Among the earliest types
00:36:59of physical specimens
00:37:01numerous cave
00:37:02and rock drawings
00:37:03and stone sculptures
00:37:04found all over the globe
00:37:06You know pictures
00:37:07are worth a thousand words
00:37:08Absolutely
00:37:09When you see pictures
00:37:11depicted
00:37:12for example
00:37:12on a cave in Italy
00:37:14that show two astronauts
00:37:16with helmets on
00:37:17I mean what the heck
00:37:18could it be?
00:37:19What could it be?
00:37:20Each of these ancient
00:37:22illustrations or statues
00:37:23depict figures dressed
00:37:25in strange attire
00:37:26for the times
00:37:27and sporting
00:37:28unusual headgear
00:37:30But could they really
00:37:31be representations
00:37:32of alien astronauts
00:37:34visitors from other worlds
00:37:36who touched down
00:37:37upon the earth
00:37:38thousands of years ago?
00:37:41All over the world
00:37:42we have statues
00:37:44and sculptures
00:37:45and paintings
00:37:46and depictions
00:37:47of these extraterrestrial beings
00:37:50even in the United States
00:37:51at Sago Canyon, Utah
00:37:53we have petroglyphs
00:37:55of very weird looking creatures
00:37:58that have antennae
00:38:00on their heads
00:38:00helmets
00:38:01and halfway around the world
00:38:03in Kimberley, Australia
00:38:05for example
00:38:05we have the exact same depictions
00:38:08of these helmeted beings
00:38:10with a halo around their heads
00:38:12and the question I have is
00:38:14what did our ancestors see
00:38:16that compelled them
00:38:17to put this
00:38:19on their cave walls?
00:38:21On yet another continent
00:38:23in Guatemala City
00:38:25we have a sculpture
00:38:26that looks eerily reminiscent
00:38:28of a modern day astronaut
00:38:30I mean that thing
00:38:32is wearing a helmet
00:38:33there's some type
00:38:34of a mouthpiece
00:38:35and on his chest
00:38:37are some type of controls
00:38:39or a breathing apparatus
00:38:41how is this possible?
00:38:431500 years ago
00:38:44and in Colombia
00:38:47there were thousands
00:38:49of tomb artifacts
00:38:51that look like
00:38:52modern day airplanes
00:38:54it has fixed wings
00:38:56it has a fuselage
00:38:58and it has an upright tail fin
00:39:01which is not intrinsic
00:39:04to nature
00:39:05but it is intrinsic
00:39:07to modern day aerodynamics
00:39:09did our ancestors
00:39:11see something similar
00:39:13flying in the air?
00:39:15absolutely
00:39:15another compelling artifact
00:39:18that was found
00:39:19was at the Istanbul Museum
00:39:20where you have
00:39:22this headless spaceman
00:39:23sitting inside
00:39:25some type of a space vehicle
00:39:27you can see his hands
00:39:29and you can see tubing
00:39:31that go to some sort of devices
00:39:33he's wearing a suit
00:39:34his legs are crammed in there
00:39:36I mean even to the untrained eye
00:39:39this looks very aerodynamic
00:39:41and it looks something
00:39:43that you know
00:39:44came from outer space
00:39:46these people witnessed something
00:39:50they were told something
00:39:52and they tried to depict it
00:39:54the best way they could
00:39:55with the kind of technology
00:39:57they had at the time
00:39:58and that was simple tools
00:39:59and simple artwork
00:40:00many of these ancient civilizations
00:40:03were widely separated
00:40:06in space and time
00:40:07they weren't in communication
00:40:09with each other
00:40:10but still
00:40:11they have the same
00:40:13kinds of accounts
00:40:14I think it's because
00:40:15they all experienced
00:40:17these things
00:40:18and they all
00:40:19have the idea
00:40:21that we're part
00:40:21of a cosmic hierarchy
00:40:23of beings
00:40:23so
00:40:24I think we can't explain
00:40:26things away
00:40:27so easily
00:40:28but for Eric Von Daniken
00:40:32and other proponents
00:40:33of his ancient astronaut theories
00:40:35perhaps the most significant
00:40:37illustration
00:40:38can be found
00:40:39in Mexico
00:40:40the Mayan archaeological site
00:40:44of Palenque
00:40:44had been abandoned
00:40:46for centuries
00:40:46before it was stumbled upon
00:40:48by Spanish explorers
00:40:49so to get to the top
00:40:53of this
00:40:53and suddenly
00:40:54here are
00:40:56the great pyramids
00:40:58of Palenque
00:40:58here
00:41:01deep within
00:41:02a secret tomb
00:41:03under one of the
00:41:04age old temples
00:41:05lies the seven ton sarcophagus
00:41:08of Palenque's
00:41:097th century ruler
00:41:10Pakal the Great
00:41:11Lord Pakal
00:41:13apparently died
00:41:15here at Palenque
00:41:16he was apparently
00:41:18this mysterious
00:41:19Mayan leader
00:41:21he was a giant
00:41:227 or 8 feet tall
00:41:24actually
00:41:25and then
00:41:26they built
00:41:27this pyramid
00:41:28around his tomb
00:41:30the Mayans
00:41:31literally worshipped him
00:41:32as some kind
00:41:33of a god
00:41:34King Pakal's
00:41:36sarcophagus
00:41:37is adorned
00:41:38with a carving
00:41:39that has become
00:41:40a famous example
00:41:41of classic Mayan art
00:41:42most believe
00:41:44the illustration
00:41:45shows Pakal
00:41:46descending
00:41:47into the Mayan
00:41:48underworld
00:41:48but ancient
00:41:50astronaut theorists
00:41:51interpret the carving
00:41:53a vastly different way
00:41:54on this lap
00:41:55an incredible
00:41:57in chiseling
00:41:57you see a man
00:41:59and he's sitting
00:42:00in a sort of capsule
00:42:01he has some sort
00:42:03of mask on his nose
00:42:04and you see
00:42:05his upper hand
00:42:05he's manipulating
00:42:06some controls
00:42:07from the lower hand
00:42:08he's turning something on
00:42:10the heel of his left foot
00:42:12is on a kind of pedal
00:42:13and outside of the capsule
00:42:14you see a linking flam
00:42:16this is incredible
00:42:18this is absolutely
00:42:19a proof for extraterrestrials
00:42:203, 2, 1, 0
00:42:26liftoff
00:42:27if we look at the
00:42:28similarities of what
00:42:29our astronauts look like
00:42:31when they are
00:42:31in a rocket ship
00:42:32or in the space shuttle
00:42:33and have gear
00:42:34attached to them
00:42:35there are similarities
00:42:36being shown
00:42:37so one just has to
00:42:38ask the question of
00:42:39you know
00:42:39is this just an artifact
00:42:41symbolically showing something
00:42:43or are they trying
00:42:43to depict
00:42:44with their own
00:42:45limited understanding
00:42:46of the time
00:42:46what was taking place
00:42:48was lord pakal
00:42:50just some mayan king
00:42:52that everyone liked
00:42:53was he some important
00:42:55visitor from
00:42:56some far off land
00:42:58or was he even possibly
00:43:00some extraterrestrial
00:43:02from another planet
00:43:03although most scientists
00:43:08and archaeologists
00:43:09discredit bondaniken's
00:43:11interpretation
00:43:11of the palenque carvings
00:43:13visitors to the site
00:43:15are often treated
00:43:16to stories
00:43:17and offered souvenirs
00:43:18that support his claim
00:43:20this is eric bondaniken's
00:43:22theory
00:43:22the chariots of the gods
00:43:24you know
00:43:24you see pakal is supposed
00:43:26to be driving
00:43:27the rocket
00:43:28holding the controls
00:43:30the pedals
00:43:31the engine
00:43:34and the fire of the rocket
00:43:36this will be the cabin
00:43:37and this is the oxygen
00:43:40mainstream archaeologists
00:43:43claim that it's really
00:43:44a depiction of lord pakal
00:43:46and his journey
00:43:47to the underworld
00:43:48he's going under the ground
00:43:50rather than out into space
00:43:51both are interesting theories
00:43:55and either could be right
00:43:57in my mind
00:43:57in recent years
00:44:00pakal's tomb
00:44:01has been closed
00:44:02to tourists
00:44:02and casual visitors
00:44:04although the sarcophagus
00:44:06is off limits
00:44:07ancient astronaut theorists
00:44:09can still find
00:44:10a wealth of evidence
00:44:11in the carvings
00:44:12along the walls
00:44:12of palenque
00:44:13this is very similar
00:44:14to what's on
00:44:15the lid of lord pakal
00:44:17of his tomb
00:44:18the way he's got
00:44:20his left hand
00:44:21right here
00:44:22in like an odd position
00:44:24and his wrist
00:44:25also some kind of
00:44:26rocket exhaust
00:44:27or something
00:44:28is coming out of him
00:44:29but lord pakal
00:44:32may not have been
00:44:34the only alien
00:44:35who once walked
00:44:36the palenque ruins
00:44:37chicago
00:44:43illinois
00:44:44housed here
00:44:46in the newberry library
00:44:48is the mayan manuscript
00:44:50known
00:44:50as the popovu
00:44:52literally translated
00:44:54as the book of the people
00:44:55it is a collection
00:44:57of maya oral histories
00:44:59passed on
00:45:00through the ages
00:45:01written in the mid-16th century
00:45:04this incredible book
00:45:06encompasses
00:45:06a range of subjects
00:45:08including
00:45:09those involving
00:45:10mayan creation myths
00:45:12the popovu talks about
00:45:16the creation
00:45:16of the universe
00:45:17it talks about
00:45:19the fact that
00:45:19in the beginning
00:45:20all was darkness
00:45:21there was a primordial sea
00:45:23and then these creators
00:45:25male and female
00:45:27spoke the word
00:45:28and with the word
00:45:29the earth was created
00:45:30and animals were created
00:45:32it's sort of like
00:45:36the combination
00:45:36of the book of genesis
00:45:37and the book of chronicles
00:45:38in the bible
00:45:39it's a story of battles
00:45:41between the gods
00:45:42and then it connects
00:45:44the creation of the world
00:45:45with the present day
00:45:47through the kings
00:45:48of the kiche
00:45:48it's really the only
00:45:50complete maya creation myth
00:45:52that we have
00:45:53what they were saying
00:45:55was that a framework
00:45:56was created
00:45:57that certain deities
00:45:59manifested themselves
00:46:00physically
00:46:01and made decisions
00:46:02as to what was
00:46:03going to happen
00:46:04in the case of the mayans
00:46:06this was a choice
00:46:07as to where the mayans
00:46:08were going to live
00:46:09as well as the selection
00:46:10of certain sacred sites
00:46:11throughout the ancient world
00:46:16there have been
00:46:16numerous similar myths
00:46:18of otherworldly beings
00:46:19coming to earth
00:46:20and interacting
00:46:21with some of the
00:46:22earliest humans
00:46:23most mainstream historians
00:46:26believe these stories
00:46:27represent only religious
00:46:29and spiritual beliefs
00:46:31but is it possible
00:46:34as ancient astronaut
00:46:36theorists believe
00:46:36that the Popol Vuh
00:46:38as well as other
00:46:39ancient creation tales
00:46:41represents actual evidence
00:46:43of contact
00:46:44with extraterrestrials
00:46:45in the distant past
00:46:47according to the
00:46:50translations of hieroglyphs
00:46:51found at numerous
00:46:53ancient mayan cities
00:46:54kukulkan
00:46:56or the great feathered serpent
00:46:58was the god
00:46:59who brought knowledge
00:47:00to the maya
00:47:01when we talk about
00:47:02the mayan gods
00:47:03we know that the most
00:47:04important god to them
00:47:05was the plumed serpent
00:47:06or kukulkan
00:47:08we see his image
00:47:10all across the mayan world
00:47:11we see it on
00:47:12great carved images
00:47:13on stone
00:47:14kukulkan
00:47:16is often depicted
00:47:17as a plumed serpent
00:47:19some would say
00:47:20a dragon
00:47:20or a snake
00:47:22with wings
00:47:22that leads some
00:47:24to believe
00:47:24that kukulkan
00:47:26may have descended
00:47:27from the sky
00:47:29now the maya
00:47:31were living in the jungle
00:47:32the maya knew
00:47:34that the snake
00:47:35could not fly
00:47:36but this snake
00:47:37this serpent
00:47:38could fly
00:47:39the oldest
00:47:41maya histories
00:47:42tell that kukulkan
00:47:44was the teacher
00:47:45of young maya
00:47:46he had chosen
00:47:48eight boys
00:47:49in the age
00:47:50between seven
00:47:51and twelve
00:47:51and he teached
00:47:53these eight boys
00:47:54in mathematics
00:47:55in astronomy
00:47:56in all kind
00:47:57of science
00:47:58and later
00:48:00kukulkan
00:48:01disappeared
00:48:02with the promise
00:48:03that he will return
00:48:04in the faraway future
00:48:06these boys
00:48:08had become
00:48:08the first
00:48:09priest
00:48:10and the first
00:48:11teachers
00:48:11again
00:48:12for the maya
00:48:13some of the legends
00:48:16state
00:48:16that he appeared
00:48:17along the gulf coast
00:48:18on a raft
00:48:19of serpents
00:48:20and he spread
00:48:21his high knowledge
00:48:22through that part
00:48:22of the country
00:48:23even today
00:48:25in some of the mayan
00:48:26cultures
00:48:26he's revered
00:48:27as his great god
00:48:28that brought
00:48:28all these teachings
00:48:29and civilization
00:48:30to their part
00:48:31of the world
00:48:32and yet no one
00:48:33knows who he was
00:48:34or where he came from
00:48:35strangely
00:48:38depictions
00:48:39of a winged serpent god
00:48:41can be found
00:48:42all around
00:48:43the ancient world
00:48:44in india
00:48:47the epic text
00:48:48the mahabharata
00:48:49details the ancient
00:48:51account of sky beings
00:48:52known as nagas
00:48:54dating as far back
00:48:57as 2500 bc
00:48:58the half-human
00:49:00and half-serpent
00:49:01entities
00:49:01look nearly identical
00:49:03to the mayan
00:49:04kukulkan
00:49:05and ancient chinese
00:49:08mythology
00:49:08from the fifth
00:49:09millennium bc
00:49:10described flying dragons
00:49:12that are eerily similar
00:49:14to the serpent god
00:49:15depicted
00:49:15in mesoamerica
00:49:17to the peoples
00:49:20that preceded
00:49:22the inca
00:49:23in peru
00:49:24similar ideas
00:49:25were put upon
00:49:26characters like
00:49:27quatsicoatil
00:49:28the feathered serpent
00:49:30who was this wisdom
00:49:31bringer
00:49:32sometimes said
00:49:34to have
00:49:34come down
00:49:35from the sky world
00:49:37and once again
00:49:38bring in the rudiments
00:49:40of civilization
00:49:40to the peoples
00:49:42of central america
00:49:43there is a common
00:49:47threat among many
00:49:48ancient cultures
00:49:49of the americas
00:49:49when it comes
00:49:50to whom serpent god
00:49:52the cherokee
00:49:53for example
00:49:54believe that time
00:49:55their calendar
00:49:56is based upon
00:49:57a rattlesnake
00:49:58that they can see
00:49:59in the night sky
00:50:00or perhaps
00:50:01a constellation
00:50:01so the idea
00:50:03of a serpent
00:50:04or a snake
00:50:05or a dragon
00:50:06is common
00:50:07among many
00:50:08ancient cultures
00:50:09and not just
00:50:10the maya
00:50:10or the mesoamericans
00:50:12the snake
00:50:15is the giver
00:50:16of wisdom
00:50:16in so many
00:50:17cultures
00:50:18and it gives
00:50:20the tools
00:50:20of civilization
00:50:21working with metals
00:50:22working with
00:50:23other instruments
00:50:24certain knowledge
00:50:25certain aspects
00:50:27of life
00:50:27and that it really
00:50:29gives this
00:50:30knowledge
00:50:31to certain people
00:50:32and that he places
00:50:33these people
00:50:34in a position
00:50:35whereby
00:50:36from their social position
00:50:37they are able
00:50:38to give this
00:50:38to the rest
00:50:39of their culture
00:50:39all these cultures
00:50:42were far apart
00:50:44from each other
00:50:45sometimes by
00:50:46thousands and
00:50:47thousands of miles
00:50:48so how is it
00:50:50possible that
00:50:51all these societies
00:50:52came up with
00:50:53not similar
00:50:54but identical stories
00:50:56was it really
00:50:57flying snakes
00:50:58or gods
00:51:00that were snakes
00:51:01of course not
00:51:02it was misunderstood
00:51:04technology
00:51:05some types
00:51:07of vehicles
00:51:08were witnessed
00:51:09at the center
00:51:09from the sky
00:51:10out of which
00:51:11people came
00:51:12astronauts
00:51:13that instructed
00:51:15people
00:51:16of different cultures
00:51:17in different societies
00:51:18in certain
00:51:20scientific disciplines
00:51:21this is not
00:51:23coincidence
00:51:24this is evidence
00:51:26for ancient
00:51:27alien encounters
00:51:28in the remote past
00:51:30there is
00:51:31no other way
00:51:33can the ancient
00:51:34creation myths
00:51:35and legends
00:51:36of flying serpent gods
00:51:38really be interpreted
00:51:39as factual accounts
00:51:41of extraterrestrial
00:51:43visitors
00:51:43as ancient
00:51:44astronaut theorists
00:51:45contend
00:51:46and if so
00:51:47might such
00:51:49celestial travelers
00:51:50have given the Maya
00:51:51both the tools
00:51:53and the knowledge
00:51:54to help advance
00:51:55their civilization
00:51:56perhaps further evidence
00:51:59can be found
00:52:00halfway around the world
00:52:02within
00:52:03the extraordinary accounts
00:52:05of the Greek gods
00:52:07one of the things
00:52:11I love
00:52:11when watching
00:52:12some of the earliest
00:52:13episodes of ancient aliens
00:52:15is that they feature
00:52:16our good friend
00:52:17and colleague
00:52:18and one of my
00:52:19closest friends
00:52:20Philip Coppens
00:52:21who unfortunately
00:52:22passed away
00:52:23in 2012
00:52:24but he was an
00:52:26invaluable contributor
00:52:27to the series
00:52:28because not only
00:52:30was he a prolific author
00:52:32but he was also
00:52:33an impeccable researcher
00:52:34and the broad knowledge
00:52:37that he had
00:52:38of the topic
00:52:39I mean
00:52:39we were really lucky
00:52:41to have him
00:52:42with us
00:52:43on ancient aliens
00:52:44absolutely
00:52:45Giorgio
00:52:45I mean it's really great
00:52:46to see him
00:52:46in these early episodes
00:52:47it really is
00:52:48yes
00:52:49now you know
00:52:50as someone whose area
00:52:51of expertise
00:52:52is the modern UFO phenomenon
00:52:54it's been fascinating
00:52:55for me to be involved
00:52:56with ancient aliens
00:52:57and to hear these stories
00:52:58from hundreds
00:52:59or even thousands
00:53:00of years ago
00:53:01describing encounters
00:53:03that sound very similar
00:53:04to today's UFO sightings
00:53:06you're right Nick
00:53:08in fact as you know
00:53:09my dad is Greek
00:53:10so I grew up
00:53:11reading and hearing
00:53:12a lot
00:53:13about ancient Greek mythology
00:53:15and in those accounts
00:53:16you have countless examples
00:53:18of the Greeks
00:53:19interacting with
00:53:20the so-called gods
00:53:21and those gods
00:53:23not only imparted wisdom
00:53:25but also shared
00:53:27their incredible technology
00:53:29when I hear you say
00:53:30technology of the gods
00:53:32what I think
00:53:32I also really hear you saying
00:53:33is technology
00:53:35from extraterrestrials
00:53:36right
00:53:37Greece
00:53:44the island of Crete
00:53:45on the Lassithi plateau
00:53:48over half a mile
00:53:50above sea level
00:53:51lies the Dictyon cave
00:53:53this sprawling complex
00:53:57of caverns
00:53:58stretches nearly
00:53:58one and a half square miles
00:54:00and archaeological finds
00:54:03have shown
00:54:04a human presence
00:54:05dating as far back
00:54:06as 6,000 years ago
00:54:08historians believe
00:54:12the first inhabitants
00:54:13of the area
00:54:14actually lived
00:54:15inside the cave
00:54:16and according to legend
00:54:18its many chambers
00:54:20were once home
00:54:21to an otherworldly being
00:54:23Zeus
00:54:25the Greek god
00:54:27of thunder
00:54:28in Greek mythology
00:54:33Zeus
00:54:34is the son
00:54:35of Cronus
00:54:36the king
00:54:37of the first generation
00:54:38of gods
00:54:39known as the Titans
00:54:41Zeus' father Cronus
00:54:45is not particularly
00:54:46excited about
00:54:47giving birth to a child
00:54:48because he's heard
00:54:49a prophecy
00:54:49that one of his
00:54:50children is going
00:54:51to overthrow him
00:54:52so just as soon
00:54:54as his children
00:54:54are born
00:54:54he just swallows
00:54:55them all down
00:54:56now his mother
00:55:00Rhea
00:55:00who is Cronus' wife
00:55:02is distraught
00:55:02about this
00:55:03so what she does
00:55:03is substitute
00:55:04a rock
00:55:05that she's wrapped up
00:55:06in swaddling clothes
00:55:07gives it to Cronus
00:55:07which he swallows down
00:55:08and what she does
00:55:09is hide Zeus away
00:55:11in a cave
00:55:12so he grows up there
00:55:13in Theogony
00:55:15the 8th century
00:55:17B.C. poet
00:55:17Hesion
00:55:18describes the cave
00:55:20Zeus was hidden in
00:55:21as lying
00:55:22in these very mountains
00:55:23and specifically
00:55:25near the city
00:55:26of Lictos
00:55:27the location
00:55:29of the Diktion cave
00:55:31but the similarities
00:55:32between this cave
00:55:34and the cave
00:55:35of Zeus
00:55:35described
00:55:36in Greek mythology
00:55:37go much further
00:55:39the ancients say
00:55:41that when they are
00:55:42talking about mythology
00:55:43it is about
00:55:44unrecorded events
00:55:45of their past
00:55:47according to the Greek myths
00:55:50the child Zeus
00:55:51was nourished on
00:55:53a mixture of honey
00:55:54and milk
00:55:55at the udder of the goat
00:55:56now around 1900 AD
00:55:58a chamber in the Diktion cave
00:56:01was identified by locals
00:56:02as the birthplace
00:56:03of Zeus
00:56:04and when archaeologists
00:56:06went in there
00:56:07they discovered an altar
00:56:08with remains
00:56:09of numerous religious offerings
00:56:10amongst them
00:56:11honey and goat milk
00:56:13these remains
00:56:15date back
00:56:154,000 years
00:56:16to the exact period
00:56:17in which the ancient
00:56:18Greek stories
00:56:19took place
00:56:19the question is
00:56:21is this once again
00:56:22a coincidence
00:56:22that modern excavations
00:56:24find remains
00:56:25in this cave
00:56:25that match up
00:56:26with what's written
00:56:26in Greek mythology
00:56:27also found
00:56:30in the Diktion cave
00:56:32were numerous artifacts
00:56:33dating back
00:56:34to what would have been
00:56:35the time
00:56:36of Zeus's childhood
00:56:37according to the Greek stories
00:56:39among them
00:56:41was a fragmentary inscription
00:56:43bearing a hymn
00:56:45a hymn
00:56:46dedicated specifically
00:56:48to Zeus
00:56:49could the Diktion cave
00:56:52really be the cave
00:56:54described in Theogony
00:56:55and if actual locations
00:56:58from Greek mythology
00:56:59really do exist
00:57:01could legendary characters
00:57:03characters and events
00:57:04also be based
00:57:05on historical fact
00:57:07we think of mythology
00:57:09as something
00:57:10which has been invented
00:57:11but really when we look
00:57:15at the ancient Greeks
00:57:16they believed
00:57:17that the war of the Titans
00:57:18physically happened
00:57:20that this was a war
00:57:21which was fought in heavens
00:57:22by the deities
00:57:24in Greek mythology
00:57:29the war of the Titans
00:57:31is a celestial battle
00:57:33waged by Zeus
00:57:34and his siblings
00:57:35known as the Olympians
00:57:37against their father
00:57:38Cronus
00:57:39and the Titans
00:57:40the Olympians
00:57:43who are the victors
00:57:44in this battle
00:57:45were the gods worshipped
00:57:47by the ancient Greeks
00:57:48but according to
00:57:51ancient astronaut theorists
00:57:52these human-like beings
00:57:54may have been
00:57:55something other
00:57:56than divine
00:57:56and this mythical war
00:57:58may have been
00:57:59an actual
00:58:01historical event
00:58:02to support this claim
00:58:07they point to the existence
00:58:08of similar myths
00:58:10and stories
00:58:11told by different cultures
00:58:12throughout the world
00:58:14when it comes to
00:58:16warring parties of gods
00:58:17Greece is not a stand-alone issue
00:58:19we have the same thing
00:58:21in Ragnornak
00:58:22in Norwegian mythology
00:58:23we have this idea
00:58:25that the gods
00:58:25fought amongst themselves
00:58:27as well
00:58:27we also have stories
00:58:31from Sumerian
00:58:31Babylonian
00:58:32Hittite accounts
00:58:33where it says
00:58:34that the wars
00:58:35were fought
00:58:36between gods
00:58:37we see the same story
00:58:42of Titans
00:58:43being overthrown
00:58:44by a new set of gods
00:58:46in the Sumerian epics
00:58:47of the Anunnaki
00:58:48coming here
00:58:49as the original culture
00:58:50in ancient Iraq
00:58:51so these similarities
00:58:53tell of a warring
00:58:54race of beings
00:58:55that squabbled
00:58:56amongst themselves
00:58:57about the rights
00:58:58of various areas
00:58:59on the earth
00:59:00what can explain
00:59:04the similarities
00:59:05of these ancient war stories
00:59:07that emerged
00:59:08from all over the world
00:59:09could they all be describing
00:59:11the same historical events
00:59:13and if there is
00:59:15an historical basis
00:59:16for the legends
00:59:17and stories
00:59:18what does that suggest
00:59:19about the incredible powers
00:59:21and weaponry
00:59:22supposedly possessed
00:59:24by the gods
00:59:25it's very possible
00:59:27that the clash
00:59:28of the titans
00:59:28known from the Greek times
00:59:30is actually speaking
00:59:31of a much earlier epoch
00:59:33of extraterrestrials
00:59:34having a type of battle
00:59:36the ancient Greek gods
00:59:39had helmets
00:59:40that made them invisible
00:59:41they had breastplates
00:59:43that made them
00:59:44impervious
00:59:45to their enemy's weapons
00:59:46they had tridents
00:59:48that shot thunderbolts
00:59:49they had winged sandals
00:59:52that gave them
00:59:53the power of flight
00:59:54these are all
00:59:56profound examples
00:59:57of an ancient alien technology
00:59:59that the Greek gods possessed
01:00:01if mythical gods
01:00:03and monsters
01:00:04really did exist
01:00:05were they
01:00:07as ancient astronaut
01:00:08theorists believe
01:00:09extraterrestrial beings
01:00:12now you know
01:00:15in addition
01:00:16to the stories
01:00:17of the Greeks
01:00:18that we've covered
01:00:19you find stories
01:00:20of humans
01:00:21living alongside
01:00:21technologically advanced
01:00:23extraterrestrials
01:00:24all around the world
01:00:25you see it for example
01:00:26in ancient Hindu texts
01:00:28I mean most definitely
01:00:29there's roughly still
01:00:30a billion Hindus
01:00:31in the world today
01:00:32that study and read
01:00:33these ancient Sanskrit texts
01:00:34and to them
01:00:35they're not just stories
01:00:36it's their actual history
01:00:38right
01:00:38India
01:00:42covering over
01:00:441.2 million square miles
01:00:47it is the world's
01:00:49seventh largest country
01:00:50and with 1.3 billion people
01:00:54it is the second
01:00:55most populated
01:00:56roughly 80%
01:01:00of the Indian population
01:01:02practices Hinduism
01:01:04the world's oldest
01:01:05surviving religion
01:01:07that dates back
01:01:08to at least
01:01:092000 BC
01:01:10and for the Hindu faithful
01:01:13their gods
01:01:15are not mythological
01:01:16but are real beings
01:01:18that have at times
01:01:20been present
01:01:21here on earth
01:01:22these many gods and goddesses
01:01:28have different stories
01:01:30and different energies
01:01:31and different principles
01:01:32that they represent
01:01:33for many of the Hindu faithful
01:01:37the gods are absolutely real
01:01:39they exist physically
01:01:41although they may not always
01:01:43be visible
01:01:44in general
01:01:45compared to western belief systems
01:01:47the tangible reality
01:01:49of the gods
01:01:50is much stronger
01:01:51in India
01:01:52I've grown up as a Hindu
01:01:54in a strict Hindu family
01:01:55so I know
01:01:56all the Vedas
01:01:58and epics
01:01:58and I've read them
01:01:59hundreds of times
01:02:00Hindus believe
01:02:02that the gods
01:02:03came down from the sky
01:02:05Hindus believe
01:02:07that these stories
01:02:09are not simply myth
01:02:11they are historical records
01:02:13because they are actually
01:02:15called itihasa
01:02:17itihasa meaning history
01:02:19thousands of depictions
01:02:24of the Hindu gods
01:02:26can be found
01:02:27throughout India
01:02:28carved into temples
01:02:30painted on ancient rock walls
01:02:33and in the form
01:02:35of giant statues
01:02:36that dominate the landscape
01:02:38and even greater
01:02:41is the sheer number
01:02:42of these sky gods
01:02:43that make up
01:02:45the Hindu pantheon
01:02:46there are
01:02:47333 million gods
01:02:51in Hinduism
01:02:52they are divided
01:02:53into two realms
01:02:54a higher realm
01:02:56and then the lower realm
01:02:58and the devas
01:03:00are not immortal beings
01:03:02you obviously have
01:03:04a lot of power
01:03:04more power
01:03:05than ordinary human beings
01:03:07while in the Judeo-Christian tradition
01:03:12God is depicted
01:03:14as an all-powerful being
01:03:16in the Vedic texts
01:03:18Hindu gods
01:03:19often rely
01:03:20on the use
01:03:21of technology
01:03:22this has led
01:03:24ancient astronaut theorists
01:03:26to pose the question
01:03:27is it possible
01:03:29that these religious texts
01:03:31describe not only
01:03:33encounters with the divine
01:03:34but also
01:03:35with extraterrestrial beings
01:03:38the western mindset
01:03:41is different
01:03:42from that of India
01:03:43where they accept
01:03:44the idea
01:03:44of extraterrestrial beings
01:03:46the Hindu story
01:03:48of the Mahabharata
01:03:49is loaded
01:03:50with references
01:03:51to what seems
01:03:53to be extraterrestrial technology
01:03:55you've got flying vehicles
01:03:58you've got weapons
01:04:00that are voice activated
01:04:01and you have destructions
01:04:03of civilizations
01:04:04by what seems like
01:04:06nuclear detonation
01:04:07in the Mahabharata
01:04:10there
01:04:11they write
01:04:13that one day
01:04:14gigantic cities
01:04:16surrounded the earth
01:04:18they did not have
01:04:19a word for spaceship
01:04:20at that time
01:04:21they say cities
01:04:22and they make
01:04:23clear difference
01:04:25that these cities
01:04:26were in the firmament
01:04:27not in heaven
01:04:28and small vehicles
01:04:31came down
01:04:32from these cities
01:04:33on the firmament
01:04:34the old Indians
01:04:35called these vehicles
01:04:36Vimanas
01:04:37and out of the Vimanas
01:04:39the teachers
01:04:40came out
01:04:41no doubt
01:04:43we were
01:04:44visited
01:04:45by extraterrestrials
01:04:47is the Hindu tradition
01:04:49a story
01:04:50of extraterrestrial visitation
01:04:53ancient astronaut theorists
01:04:55say yes
01:04:56and suggest
01:04:57that this was orchestrated
01:04:59by an otherworldly being
01:05:01known in Hinduism
01:05:02as Lord Shiva
01:05:04Shiva
01:05:06is a member
01:05:07of the Hindu trinity
01:05:09of major gods
01:05:10Brahma
01:05:11Vishnu
01:05:12Maheshwara
01:05:14Maheshwara
01:05:15is another name
01:05:16for Shiva
01:05:17Shiva
01:05:18is also called
01:05:20Mahadeva
01:05:20Mahadeva
01:05:21means
01:05:22great god
01:05:23so he is
01:05:25god of gods
01:05:26he is the head
01:05:28of all gods
01:05:28and he is also
01:05:30the most powerful god
01:05:31Shiva has a dual function
01:05:34one of his functions
01:05:36is destruction
01:05:37the other one
01:05:38is creation
01:05:39without destruction
01:05:41there is no creation
01:05:42depictions of Shiva
01:05:45embody this idea
01:05:47of destruction
01:05:47and creation
01:05:49Shiva
01:05:50is most often shown
01:05:52holding a drum
01:05:53called a damaru
01:05:54which he used
01:05:55to create the universe
01:05:57around his neck
01:05:59is a cobra
01:06:00poised to strike
01:06:01in one hand
01:06:04Shiva holds
01:06:05a powerful
01:06:06trident-like weapon
01:06:07of destruction
01:06:08called the trishala
01:06:10and in the center
01:06:11of his forehead
01:06:12he has a third eye
01:06:14Shiva is the only god
01:06:17that has depicted
01:06:19with third eye
01:06:20his third eye
01:06:23opens
01:06:23very powerful light
01:06:25fire
01:06:26emits from his third eye
01:06:28and anything that it sees
01:06:30it destroys totally
01:06:32usually when you talk
01:06:35about the third eye
01:06:36it's about enlightenment
01:06:38and then there's
01:06:39this other third eye
01:06:40this third eye
01:06:41that was able to
01:06:42annihilate things
01:06:44I don't think
01:06:45they're the same thing
01:06:46so the question is
01:06:49what was it
01:06:50and what was Shiva
01:06:52Shiva appeared
01:06:56at a very crucial time
01:06:57when two gods
01:06:59Brahma is the creator
01:07:01and Vishnu the preserver
01:07:02were debating
01:07:04who is greater
01:07:05all of a sudden
01:07:07this blinding light
01:07:08a shaft of light
01:07:10appeared
01:07:10that has no end
01:07:12or beginning
01:07:13and then
01:07:14voice came out
01:07:15of this light
01:07:16said that
01:07:17I am the greatest
01:07:19I am the greatest
01:07:20god there is
01:07:21Shiva
01:07:23is almost always
01:07:24surrounded by
01:07:25some type of
01:07:25a circular structure
01:07:27with flames
01:07:28now what did
01:07:29our human ancestor
01:07:30artists
01:07:31try to depict here
01:07:32was he perhaps
01:07:35inside some type
01:07:36of a fiery craft
01:07:37it is possible
01:07:40that Shiva
01:07:41is the same
01:07:43extraterrestrial
01:07:44that other cultures
01:07:45call by different names
01:07:47Enki
01:07:48Odin
01:07:49Zeus
01:07:49Viracocha
01:07:50Quetzalcoatl
01:07:51Kukulkan
01:07:52the earliest
01:07:55Vedic texts
01:07:56were first written
01:07:57roughly 4,000 years ago
01:08:00but Hindus claim
01:08:01that the stories
01:08:02originated
01:08:03hundreds
01:08:04and perhaps
01:08:05even thousands
01:08:06of years earlier
01:08:07existing as part
01:08:09of an oral tradition
01:08:11passed down
01:08:12from one generation
01:08:13to the next
01:08:14might the gods
01:08:16found in these accounts
01:08:17be the same beings
01:08:19described by
01:08:20other cultures
01:08:21perhaps further evidence
01:08:24can be found
01:08:25by examining
01:08:26the ancient
01:08:27cuneiform tablets
01:08:28of the world's
01:08:29first known
01:08:30civilization
01:08:31we've been talking
01:08:35about gods
01:08:36and extraterrestrials
01:08:37but some of the
01:08:38very earliest accounts
01:08:39of celestial visitors
01:08:40come from the first
01:08:41civilization on earth
01:08:42the Sumerians
01:08:43I mean to me
01:08:44it's mind-blowing
01:08:45that 5,000 years ago
01:08:46they referenced
01:08:47these Anunnaki
01:08:48coming down from the sky
01:08:49Right
01:08:50and Anunnaki means
01:08:52those who from
01:08:53the heavens came
01:08:54so the Sumerians
01:08:56actually told us
01:08:57that somebody
01:08:58descended from the sky
01:09:00to impart knowledge
01:09:02and in our opinion
01:09:03those were
01:09:04physical beings
01:09:05and if you really
01:09:06think about it
01:09:07they had
01:09:07human flaws
01:09:09in fact
01:09:10they fought
01:09:11with each other
01:09:12just like humans
01:09:13and they had
01:09:15a technology
01:09:16Northern Iraq
01:09:22Along the east bank
01:09:24of the Tigris River
01:09:26opposite the city
01:09:27of Mosul
01:09:28lie the ruins
01:09:29of the ancient city
01:09:30of Nineveh
01:09:31a place
01:09:33originally inhabited
01:09:34by the Sumerians
01:09:35of Mesopotamia
01:09:36Here
01:09:40in 1842
01:09:42British archaeologist
01:09:44Austin Henry Layard
01:09:46unearthed the ruins
01:09:47of the Great Library
01:09:48of Azurbanipal
01:09:50a royal archive
01:09:52containing thousands
01:09:53of clay tablets
01:09:54with cuneiform inscriptions
01:09:56dating to 3000 BC
01:09:59the messages
01:10:01carved into stone
01:10:02are considered
01:10:03to be the world's
01:10:04first written accounts
01:10:05Sumerian tablets
01:10:07are probably
01:10:08one of the oldest
01:10:09form of a written
01:10:10record that we have
01:10:11They've been translated
01:10:14and they tell
01:10:15exciting stories
01:10:16about how gods
01:10:17intermingled
01:10:17with human beings
01:10:18and actually had a hand
01:10:19in the creation
01:10:20of human beings
01:10:21Whether or not
01:10:22it's just mythology
01:10:23or if it's fact
01:10:25no one really knows
01:10:26According to
01:10:29interpretations
01:10:30of the Sumerian tablets
01:10:31the gods were called
01:10:33the Anunnaki
01:10:34What we're looking at here
01:10:36is a Sumerian tablet
01:10:38that actually shows
01:10:39the tree of life
01:10:40flanked by divine beings
01:10:42You can see here
01:10:43the Anunnaki
01:10:43on each side
01:10:44We also see
01:10:45the winged disc
01:10:46a symbolic reference
01:10:48that the Anunnaki
01:10:49had the power of flight
01:10:50They actually had necklaces
01:10:52with astronomical references
01:10:55a moon
01:10:55a star
01:10:56various symbols
01:10:57which even could be
01:10:58symbolized as a wristwatch
01:11:00technology being used
01:11:026,000 years ago
01:11:03The written accounts
01:11:06etched into stone
01:11:07suggest the Anunnaki
01:11:09were giant beings
01:11:10standing 8 feet tall
01:11:12who came to earth
01:11:13in search of gold
01:11:15for their home planet
01:11:16When the Sumerian gods
01:11:19the Anunnaki
01:11:20realized the toll
01:11:21it was taking
01:11:22to mine the gold
01:11:23themselves
01:11:23they decided
01:11:24to fashion
01:11:25a worker being
01:11:26a slave
01:11:27to mine the gold
01:11:28for them
01:11:28And they explain
01:11:31in the Sumerian creation tales
01:11:32that this was
01:11:33an arduous process
01:11:34So it's very possible
01:11:36that our genetic evolution
01:11:38was a process
01:11:39done by the Anunnaki
01:11:41to create us
01:11:42in their image
01:11:42and after their likeness
01:11:43They created man
01:11:46according to the Sumerian text
01:11:49They created Adam and Eve
01:11:52How interesting
01:11:54that the Bible
01:11:55will echo the story
01:11:56but talk about it
01:11:58in terms of God
01:11:59It's almost like
01:12:05these highly advanced creatures
01:12:06were acting as teachers
01:12:07And certainly
01:12:10Sumerian culture
01:12:12and mythology
01:12:12is full of stories
01:12:14of receiving visitations
01:12:16from these mysterious
01:12:17higher entities
01:12:18that bestowed wisdom
01:12:20and fantastic ideas
01:12:22and concepts
01:12:22And you have to wonder
01:12:24is this just down to myth
01:12:25or was somebody
01:12:26coming down
01:12:27and really trying
01:12:27to give us a push
01:12:28if you like
01:12:29Ancient chronicles
01:12:34of sky beings
01:12:35creating human life
01:12:36are common
01:12:37in early cultures
01:12:38found all over the world
01:12:40But while mainstream scholars
01:12:43often dismiss this evidence
01:12:44Might such tangible
01:12:46historical accounts
01:12:48provide proof
01:12:49of alien intervention
01:12:50in man's evolution
01:12:52as ancient astronaut
01:12:54theorists believe
01:12:55The Sumerians
01:12:56are not the only culture
01:12:59that talks about this
01:13:01Also in the Quran
01:13:02it says
01:13:03that language
01:13:05was given to us
01:13:06by Allah
01:13:07or God
01:13:09The Maya Popol Vuh
01:13:11says that language
01:13:12was given to us
01:13:14by the gods
01:13:15The ancient Egyptian texts
01:13:18are saying
01:13:19the exact same thing
01:13:21It doesn't matter
01:13:24what ancient culture
01:13:25we look at
01:13:26They all say the same
01:13:28that language
01:13:30was a gift
01:13:31from the gods
01:13:33We should finally
01:13:36come to grips
01:13:37with the idea
01:13:38that extraterrestrials
01:13:40had something to do
01:13:41with our development
01:13:43Prior to the use
01:13:48of early systems
01:13:49of writing
01:13:50ancient people
01:13:51carve symbolic communication
01:13:53into stone
01:13:54called petroglyphs
01:13:56the oldest
01:13:57date to about
01:13:5710 to 12.000 years ago
01:14:00According to ancient
01:14:03astronaut theorists
01:14:04petroglyphs
01:14:06located in the
01:14:07American Southwest
01:14:08linked the prehistoric
01:14:10ancestors of the
01:14:11Zuni and Hopi tribes
01:14:13with star beings
01:14:14petroglyphs
01:14:16The first graphic
01:14:21expressions by humans
01:14:22were petroglyphs
01:14:23That means symbols
01:14:25or figures
01:14:25scratched into stone
01:14:27The Hopi Indians
01:14:29for example
01:14:29scratched petroglyphs
01:14:31into their rock faces
01:14:32that show people
01:14:33with radiating reeds
01:14:35gods that descend
01:14:36from the sky
01:14:37The Hopi Indians
01:14:40say that these beings
01:14:41are Kachinas
01:14:41beings from space
01:14:44who came to earth
01:14:45in aircraft
01:14:46who are not gods
01:14:47but who brought them
01:14:48knowledge from another planet
01:14:50We have the same phenomenon
01:14:54in Europe
01:14:54in Valcomonica
01:14:56We have it in Asia
01:14:58We have it in Brazil
01:15:00When we look at the fact
01:15:04that all around the world
01:15:05we hear similar legends
01:15:07of people from the stars
01:15:09coming down
01:15:10and having a profound impact
01:15:11on the people of this country
01:15:13or that particular culture
01:15:14all in broadly
01:15:15similar time frames
01:15:16you know
01:15:17we're seeing a pattern
01:15:18developing
01:15:18and it's difficult
01:15:19to dismiss
01:15:20that that pattern
01:15:21is suggestive
01:15:22in our ancient past
01:15:23creatures came down
01:15:24interacted with us
01:15:25and maybe manipulated us
01:15:27to become the people
01:15:28we are today
01:15:29Why are so many
01:15:35past civilizations
01:15:36all saying
01:15:38similar things?
01:15:40I think the simple answer is
01:15:41is that
01:15:42the same thing happened
01:15:45and they know the story
01:15:47and the story is
01:15:48that extraterrestrials
01:15:50came to this planet
01:15:52genetically made
01:15:54and manipulated
01:15:55whatever creatures
01:15:56were here at the time
01:15:57and helped jumpstart society
01:15:59The bottom line is
01:16:05every civilization
01:16:07talks about the existence
01:16:09of man
01:16:09through the eyes of a god
01:16:11and if you think
01:16:13of the eyes of the god
01:16:14as ETs
01:16:15it all makes sense
01:16:17Back then
01:16:19this was the way
01:16:19they communicated
01:16:21events that were
01:16:22significant to them
01:16:23and so
01:16:25when we have
01:16:25this imagery
01:16:26of the so-called
01:16:27star people
01:16:28and petroglyphs
01:16:28and things like that
01:16:29they're clearly
01:16:30chronicling something
01:16:32real
01:16:33to my mind at least
01:16:34that occurred
01:16:34in their history
01:16:35the big question
01:16:36is what?
01:16:41After nearly
01:16:42300 episodes
01:16:43of the series
01:16:44ancient aliens
01:16:44and all the evidence
01:16:45that's been presented
01:16:46I feel like people
01:16:47are finally becoming
01:16:48convinced
01:16:49that extraterrestrials
01:16:50have been visiting
01:16:51Earth for thousands
01:16:52of years
01:16:53but then the question
01:16:54I'm often asked
01:16:55is why?
01:16:56Well that's the big
01:16:57question isn't it
01:16:58now we can only
01:16:59speculate
01:17:00but it seems to me
01:17:01that if extraterrestrials
01:17:03meant us any harm
01:17:04they could have wiped
01:17:05us out long ago
01:17:07Oh absolutely
01:17:08and you know
01:17:09according to the
01:17:10ancient astronaut theory
01:17:11these star gods
01:17:13or visitors
01:17:14from the sky
01:17:15have been interacting
01:17:16with our ancestors
01:17:17for thousands
01:17:18of years
01:17:19and deliberately
01:17:21which means
01:17:22they want us
01:17:24to succeed
01:17:24in fact
01:17:25we've covered this
01:17:26ages ago
01:17:27in episode 3
01:17:28of Ancient Aliens
01:17:29called The Mission
01:17:30According to the
01:17:35ancient astronaut theory
01:17:37aliens may have
01:17:38come to Earth
01:17:39for many reasons
01:17:40to excavate
01:17:41to breed
01:17:42to conquer
01:17:43or simply
01:17:44to explore
01:17:45Certainly we want
01:17:48to go out
01:17:48and find out
01:17:49about things
01:17:50we don't know about
01:17:50we see the moon
01:17:52we want to go up
01:17:52to the moon
01:17:53and find out
01:17:53more things about it
01:17:54we see Mars
01:17:54we want to go there
01:17:55we want to go to Jupiter
01:17:56we send out our probes
01:17:57so if aliens
01:17:59are something like us
01:18:01then perhaps
01:18:01they have that same
01:18:02kind of motivation
01:18:03they just want to go learn
01:18:04Just like we
01:18:07exhibit curiosity
01:18:09there are other species
01:18:10out there
01:18:11that have the same
01:18:14trait
01:18:14It would be very
01:18:18egotistical
01:18:18to think
01:18:19that we're the only
01:18:20explorers
01:18:20in this galaxy
01:18:22I mean that would be
01:18:24a very sad statement
01:18:25to suggest
01:18:27we're the only ones
01:18:28with a brain
01:18:29and want to go out
01:18:30there and explore
01:18:31But while our own
01:18:35journeys into space
01:18:37have been brief
01:18:37and largely exploratory
01:18:39could other beings
01:18:40traveling millions
01:18:42of miles to Earth
01:18:43have stayed
01:18:44and if so
01:18:45might they still
01:18:47be among us
01:18:48Many ancient astronaut
01:18:51theorists think
01:18:52this all happened
01:18:52in the past
01:18:53and the extraterrestrials
01:18:55came here
01:18:55did this
01:18:56and did that
01:18:56and then they
01:18:57took off
01:18:58back to their own planet
01:18:59But there's a lot of evidence
01:19:01to show that
01:19:02extraterrestrials
01:19:03who might have come here
01:19:04in the past
01:19:05they've never left
01:19:06They have bases
01:19:10somewhere on the planet
01:19:12underneath the oceans
01:19:13inside mountains
01:19:15In South America
01:19:18there is
01:19:19very strong beliefs
01:19:21that many UFOs
01:19:23come out of lakes
01:19:24and underwater
01:19:26and that
01:19:27Lake Titicaca
01:19:29and other lakes
01:19:30in Peru
01:19:31and Bolivia
01:19:32and other areas
01:19:32of South America
01:19:33have some kind of
01:19:35underground
01:19:37underwater
01:19:38alien base
01:19:39associated with them
01:19:41And today
01:19:46we are living still
01:19:48as if we are alone
01:19:50in the universe
01:19:50while
01:19:51hundreds and thousands
01:19:53of people
01:19:54are seeing unusual craft
01:19:56in the skies
01:19:56as they did
01:19:575,000 years ago
01:19:58and so in a way
01:20:02the idea
01:20:03that the ancient aliens
01:20:05would finally
01:20:07be coming around
01:20:09full circle
01:20:10all the way
01:20:11into the 21st century
01:20:12as trying to push open
01:20:15a truth
01:20:17that governments
01:20:17have suppressed
01:20:18in the 20th century
01:20:20is really very ironic
01:20:22There are many diverse
01:20:28and conflicting theories
01:20:29concerning the idea
01:20:30that alien astronauts
01:20:32have been visiting
01:20:33the Earth
01:20:33for centuries
01:20:34but perhaps the proof
01:20:36lies in the most obvious
01:20:38place of all
01:20:39right within ourselves
01:20:42Somewhere in our genes
01:20:45it is coded
01:20:47that extraterrestrials
01:20:49were here
01:20:50thousands of years ago
01:20:51and it takes
01:20:52a certain time
01:20:54before this message
01:20:55is open to us
01:20:57maybe in the brain
01:20:58I don't believe
01:21:00extraterrestrials
01:21:01ETs
01:21:02ancient astronauts
01:21:03are the missing link
01:21:04I think what they
01:21:06very well could be
01:21:07they may be
01:21:08the beginning
01:21:09of the link
01:21:09the link
01:21:10that helped
01:21:10genetically alter
01:21:11human beings
01:21:12the link
01:21:13that jumpstarted
01:21:14our civilization
01:21:15the way we are today
01:21:17it's very possible
01:21:19they came down here
01:21:20and saw some creature
01:21:22and they said
01:21:23you know what
01:21:24we're going to
01:21:24jumpstart this
01:21:25it may take another
01:21:2710 million years
01:21:29for this thing
01:21:30to become smart
01:21:31and intelligent
01:21:32so they created us
01:21:34and we're smart
01:21:35and intelligent now
01:21:36aren't we
01:21:36if they've been coming
01:21:42here in the past
01:21:43for thousands of years
01:21:44where are they now
01:21:46it makes me wonder
01:21:47what types of interactions
01:21:48we're going to be having
01:21:49in the future
01:21:50right and you know
01:21:50what's so fascinating
01:21:52is the fact
01:21:53that in the great majority
01:21:55of ancient accounts
01:21:57of these gods
01:21:58they all promised
01:21:59that they would return
01:22:01I think there are two ways
01:22:02to look at it
01:22:03either a literal return
01:22:05that they came
01:22:07they left
01:22:07they're coming back
01:22:08or the idea
01:22:10that they never really left
01:22:12so the return
01:22:13then means something else
01:22:14it probably means
01:22:15a sort of open display
01:22:18here we are
01:22:19right
01:22:21let's face it
01:22:22they could be so advanced
01:22:24that they could be sitting
01:22:25right here
01:22:26and they're invisible to us
01:22:27whether it's a different vibration
01:22:29different dimension
01:22:30or something like that
01:22:31and that is exactly
01:22:33why some people
01:22:34might even argue
01:22:35that they've never left
01:22:37you
