Firefighters are continuing to battle a bushfire in the Shire of Boddington, southeast of Perth, after a scorching three-day heatwave. Jonathan How is a Senior Meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology. He told the ABC that firefighters will benefit from today's cooler and calmer weather.

00:00With these lower temperatures we are now seeing a bit of a reduction in the fire danger ratings
00:06but still sitting around high for large parts of the south of WA. There are still a number
00:10of active bushfires that we're keeping a close eye on here at the Bureau. Most of those are
00:14currently at an advice level but there is a watch and act that set fire in Boddington to the south
00:18east of Mandurah. So we are expecting to see cooler conditions and hopefully less windy conditions
00:24that will really help firefighters get on top of these fires which are currently still going
00:27across the landscape.
