00:00BIRDS CHIRP
00:07Bit fast, Bob. Go take it easy.
00:10There. Nice.
00:15Erm, two birds.
00:17What?
00:18Pungent. Putrid.
00:20It's beautiful here.
00:21No, your car. What's going on?
00:24Something in the boot.
00:25Shall we...?
00:26Do you want to have a look?
00:27Well, we'll get ready. This is a nice-looking...
00:30Beautiful-looking place, isn't it?
00:32Ted, is this stench anything to do with you?
00:34There you go.
00:35If you already tried to smoke them up.
00:37Oh!
00:38What's that?
00:40It can only be described as a residue.
00:42Oh, my God.
00:46That doesn't smell so bad.
00:47Oh, that's bad.
00:49Really? It's more likely to be...
00:51Get your nose in there.
00:53All right, ready? Go on.
00:54What on earth is that?
00:57It's disgusting.
00:58I'm going to leave that outside.
01:00If we could capture that...
01:01Do you want a sweet, by the way?
01:02No.
01:03Look at this, Bob.
01:04Where do you think you are? Paradise?
01:05Well, I mean, I've never seen the light pole.
01:06There's water everywhere, isn't there?
01:07I know, yeah.
01:08This actually is a water meadow.
01:09And it is fairly pristine.
01:10What makes something a water meadow?
01:11Well, it's kind of the original habitat, really, that the chalk streams ran through.
01:15And really, all this land would be irrigated by the chalk stream.
01:18Look at it, look.
01:19Look at it, look.
01:20This is the river itching.
01:21Right.
01:22Probably the prettiest of the chalk streams.
01:24So you've always wanted to come here, yeah?
01:25I have, yeah.
01:26Well, here you are.
01:27I've never been to this place, and I've always wanted to come to this exact bit.
01:28It's your birthday as well, Paul?
01:29It's your birthday as well, Paul?
01:30It is.
01:31It's my birthday.
01:32I've got a lot of water everywhere, isn't it?
01:33I know, yeah.
01:34This actually is a water meadow.
01:35I know, yeah.
01:36This actually is a water meadow.
01:37And it is fairly pristine.
01:38What makes something a water meadow?
01:39Well, it's kind of the original habitat, really, that the chalk streams ran through.
01:40And really, all this land would be irrigated by the chalk stream.
01:43Look at it, look.
01:44This is the river itching.
01:45Right.
01:46Probably the prettiest of the chalk streams.
01:48So you've always wanted to come here, yeah?
01:49I have, yeah.
01:50Well, here you are.
01:57It is my birthday today, Bob.
01:59A special birth to treat.
02:00Yeah.
02:05What are we fishing for?
02:06Trout, I imagine.
02:07Yep, we are.
02:08But wild brown trout.
02:10I would so love to see an itching wild brown trout.
02:13Will you concentrate?
02:14I will try it.
02:15Good luck, sir.
02:17Can I step straight down?
02:19Well, you can, yeah.
02:20See, it's not that bad, is it?
02:22Not that bad at all.
02:23Yeah.
02:24Lovely.
02:25Pull.
02:26Give me a little lesson.
02:27I always forget.
02:28You see some little fish starting around there?
02:32Do you want me to run through the tackle in 26 seconds?
02:35Less than.
02:36Go on, do it.
02:37Tell me about fly fishing.
02:38Nine foot, four weight, carbon fibre rod.
02:41Real.
02:42Floating line.
02:43You can see it's a plastic technology.
02:45That floats.
02:46That carries the weight that loads the rod.
02:48Attached to that is normal fishing line.
02:51Very thin, thin, thin, tiny, tiny, tiny.
02:54Two.
02:55Dry fly.
02:56In this case, a parachute Adam's clink hammer.
03:00Say that.
03:0126 seconds.
03:03Are you happy?
03:04I am very happy.
03:05Are you happy with what you said?
03:06I think it was really good.
03:07And tell me, is there just trout in here?
03:09Grayling trout.
03:10I saw a little shoulder fish there.
03:12It could have been small grayling.
03:13There might be some dace in here.
03:15I've caught some big grayling out of the lower itching.
03:17Try it.
03:18There's some big grayling.
03:19Really big ones.
03:28So there's grayling, yeah?
03:29Show me how to cast a pole.
03:32OK.
03:33Should have seen the squarely that said that would be.
03:34Everyone clapped.
03:35There was nobody else there, Bob.
03:36I don't need validation.
03:37Can you see that fly right there?
03:38Yeah.
03:39I see him.
03:40OK.
03:41And the fish are facing...
03:42Facing upstream.
03:43They're always sort of wary.
03:44They've got to be wary, haven't they?
03:45Don't need to cast too far.
03:46See, like that, and then you keep in touch with it.
03:48You don't want to be dragging the fly, but any sort of unnatural drag,
03:53and the fish will turn away, unless it's something like a big mayfail.
03:56That's got impetus and sometimes does skit across the surface, but they're not on the mayfly yet.
04:21I haven't seen a mayfly.
04:22I saw one come off earlier, but they'll come off more later in the day,
04:25and then the fish.
04:26The evening is the best time, Bob.
04:28You know, you said you like...
04:29Because it is for everything.
04:30Like having Malibu.
04:31Exactly.
04:32Evening boo, darling?
04:35An evening boo?
04:36Where would we be without our evening boo, darling?
04:39Splash of soda with your boo, darling?
04:44No, I like it neat.
04:45Those chops were lovely, weren't they?
04:55There you go.
04:56So, just that, right?
04:57Yeah, I've been watching.
04:58I think I went for...
04:59Ah!
05:00Ah!
05:01Yeah, you got me.
05:02First cast, you got me, Bob.
05:03Well, why were you stood there?
05:04Well, out of the line of fire, I thought.
05:05Come on then.
05:06Have you got your sunglasses on, Bob?
05:07Yep.
05:08You should be wearing sunglasses when you're casting a fly like this.
05:09Right, go on.
05:10Yeah, not bad.
05:11No, it's not great, Paul.
05:12It's not bad.
05:13There's a mayfly coming off, look.
05:15See?
05:16We're going to walk up a bit.
05:17Maybe try with a nymph.
05:18The song is perfect.
05:19I can't get some massive sunglasses when you're casting a fly like this.
05:21It's not great, Paul.
05:22It's not bad.
05:23It's not great, Paul.
05:24It's not bad.
05:25There's a mayfly coming off, look.
05:29See?
05:31Are we going to walk up a bit?
05:32Maybe try with a nymph.
05:37We're going to walk up a bit, maybe try with a nymph.
06:01That's it.
06:02Come on, your buns.
06:21Nope.
06:27Yep.
06:30Are you in?
06:31Yep.
06:32Good fish.
06:33Is it trout?
06:34I think so, yeah.
06:35Nice.
06:36Wild trout.
06:37Actually, I'm not sure why it's fighting, but I think it might be a grayling.
06:40That's a grayling, isn't it?
06:42I haven't seen him yet.
06:44Yeah, it's grayling.
06:46They're so strong.
06:47Aren't they?
06:49Got him?
06:50Well done, Bob.
06:52Well, that was a nice session.
06:55God, look at that.
06:56Not actually in season, but what a lovely accident, eh?
06:59What a powerful fish.
07:01Look at that.
07:02Look at this fin.
07:03Lilac and pink.
07:04The most beautiful fish, probably, that swims in our waters.
07:09Incredible.
07:10Yeah.
07:11There we go.
07:12Go on, then.
07:14And away he goes.
07:16That's a birthday treat, people.
07:17What?
07:18I didn't think of that.
07:19Of course it is, eh?
07:20What a birthday treat.
07:21Yeah.
07:22Yeah, that's the biggest grayling I've seen by a long, long way.
07:24Yeah.
07:25I know you've got big graylings, but, yeah.
07:27No, but the itching has served me well for graylings.
07:30Yeah.
07:31Thank you, itching.
07:32How beautiful.
07:33Well done, let's have a cuppa, yeah?
07:35Yeah.
07:36Lovely.
07:46Hey, look at them.
07:47Do you see the light playing on that tree trunk over there?
07:50Yeah.
07:51Lovely, isn't it?
07:53And that one there, look at that.
07:54Oh, that's a cracker, isn't it?
07:55It's a light shower, isn't it?
07:56Nice one.
07:57Yeah.
07:59Good spot.
08:01Can you hold that?
08:02Because I've got to be honest with you, Paul, you know my rather sweaty bag?
08:06Yeah.
08:07This sugar has spilt, so I'm having to pick it out of my bag.
08:12What, granule by granule?
08:13Yeah, literally.
08:16Here we are in this bucolic heaven, and you're...
08:19Do you do any jogging, Paul?
08:20I don't, Bob.
08:21Do you know, I did a little bit of an inadvertent, accidental jogging with the dog the other day,
08:34and I thought, my jogging days are over.
08:36I can do exercise for quite a long time, but low impact, bike, cross trainer, but, you know.
08:42I, erm, I like jogging my jeans just in my clothes.
08:46If I go out for a run, I'm not going to get gear on and all that.
08:50It's just as good for your running, even if you haven't got sports gear on.
08:54Well, yeah, of course it is.
08:56Yeah.
08:57You don't have to wear sports gear.
08:58Yeah.
08:59It's just where, it works just as well.
09:01Just in your jeans or in a nice top, in a blouse or something.
09:05Or a full, erm, DJ.
09:09Morning.
09:10What I'm saying, Paul...
09:11Yes, I know what you're saying.
09:13But you...
09:14It works just as well.
09:15You don't have to have lycra.
09:16No, you don't.
09:17And striping.
09:18But you try stretching in jeans.
09:20I'm not going stretching.
09:21I'm going jogging.
09:22Yeah, but after you're jogging, I hope you stretch.
09:25No, I've never stretched in my life.
09:27Oh, I have leant up really high cos I can...
09:29Yeah, you like to go up high, don't you?
09:31No, my top cabinet has got me ringos and me watsits.
09:34So I have to reach up to that.
09:37Right.
09:41Very nice.
09:42I've enjoyed that cup of tea, Paul.
09:43Shall we fish on, try and get a brown trout?
09:45Yeah, definitely.
09:46Let's do it.
09:48Go on, then.
09:50Go on, then.
09:51Oh, my God.
10:02Walk out here a bit further.
10:06And try a couple of casts under a tree.
10:08And with these trout, you can probably keep the line a bit even tighter, you know?
10:12Nice cast, Bob.
10:13You've got to be quicker than that with the line, though.
10:14OK.
10:15And if you see the line move back upstream, that's when you get to strike, all right?
10:28Yes.
10:33There's a decent trout out there, but that's not far from it.
10:35He's turned around and got it.
10:36He's got it.
10:37Strike!
10:38Argh!
10:39He didn't up it.
10:40He...
10:41Well, he did.
10:42No.
10:43Sorry, Paul.
10:44Saw his mouth open, grabbed it.
10:46Oh, I suppose you saw him say, mmm, lovely.
10:48Yeah.
10:50I actually did, believe it or not.
11:00You OK?
11:01I think so.
11:06Do you like watching me, Fish?
11:07Sort of...
11:08Yeah, it's...
11:09You can learn, can't you?
11:10Yeah.
11:12Some of the stuff I'm doing is very advanced.
11:14It's very subtle.
11:15Yeah.
11:16It's...
11:17You'd almost think...
11:18He doesn't know what he's doing, that bloke.
11:21Ooh, there's a fish over there, Paul.
11:23Right, we'll cast to it.
11:24Yeah.
11:30I'm in.
11:31You in?
11:32He's in.
11:33Yes!
11:34Yes, get it.
11:35Do you see that?
11:36Yes!
11:37Well done, Bobby.
11:38He's gone.
11:39What?
11:40He's gone.
11:41You screaming.
11:46I love the way you blame me for that.
11:48Come on, Bob.
11:56Whoa, whoa, whoa!
11:57Whoa, whoa, whoa!
11:58Look at that! Check it out!
11:59There you go!
12:00Look at him gun, as you would say.
12:03We've got a lovely accommodation, Paul.
12:05Have we?
12:06Yeah.
12:07It's got, like, a bonus factor that I think will appeal to you.
12:10OK.
12:13Oh, he's looking older than us.
12:15Good boy.
12:18It's like being on escape to the country, isn't it, Paul?
12:19It is a bit, isn't it?
12:20And what's our budget?
12:21You probably watch it religiously, don't you?
12:22I have never missed an episode.
12:23I think you're going to like it.
12:24Ooh!
12:25Riverside Lodge.
12:26I think I'd call it Pondside.
12:27The River Avon, just there.
12:28Just there.
12:29Just there.
12:30And this is a pond.
12:31Yeah, it is a pond.
12:32But it's full of fish.
12:33Is it?
12:34So we could have, see the veranda there?
12:35Yeah.
12:36We could have a little fish and some beer.
12:37OK.
12:38Lovely.
12:39Ted's arriving in style, isn't he?
12:40Yeah, well, he's absolutely knackered.
12:41He's had a long day in the sun.
12:42He's had a long day in the sun.
12:44I think you're going to like it.
12:45Ooh!
12:46Riverside Lodge.
12:47I think I'd call it Pondside.
12:49The River Avon, just there.
12:50Just there.
12:51Just there.
12:52And this is a pond.
12:54Yeah.
12:55It is a pond.
12:56But it's full of fish.
12:57Is it?
12:58So we could have, see the veranda there?
12:59Yeah.
13:00We could have a little fish and some beer.
13:01OK.
13:02Lovely.
13:03Ted's arriving in style, isn't he?
13:04Yeah, well, he's absolutely knackered.
13:06He's had a long day in the sun.
13:13What a beauty!
13:17This is great, isn't it?
13:22This is an amazing adventure for Ted now, looking out of these ducks.
13:25Because he's nearly our age, you know.
13:2763 he is.
13:28Ted?
13:29He's probably ageing better than us.
13:31Shut up!
13:32They're scared of him, look.
13:34There's bread there and they're not coming to get it.
13:36It's Ted.
13:38I think I probably have aged better than you, Paul.
13:40What do you say to that?
13:41I don't think so, Paul.
13:42No?
13:43No.
13:44I think I'm assisted by me big fat head.
13:47Maybe I'm a bit more gaunt and wrinkly.
13:49I've done those exercises all my life.
13:53Yeah.
13:56Are you doing your Robert De Niro?
13:57No.
13:58Without your new teeth.
13:59Yeah, excellent.
14:00Where did you get them done?
14:01Dentist.
14:02Yeah, but where?
14:03Turkey?
14:04No.
14:05All right, because that's what they say, ain't it?
14:06Turkey teeth.
14:07Turkey teeth, yeah.
14:08What did you ask for?
14:09Can I have some teeth at work?
14:11That's how you do that?
14:12Can you do that with your teeth?
14:17No, because they'd crumble, wouldn't they?
14:20They'd crumble like an Edinburgh rock.
14:23Bob?
14:24Yeah?
14:25Look at this exquisite creature, look.
14:26You've got a Mayflower on your back there, Paul.
14:29Have I?
14:30Yeah.
14:31It'd be nice if that Mayflower and that Mayflower met, wouldn't it?
14:35Oh, I see what you mean, yeah.
14:36I know you're out of the game now, but if you were being a bit flirty, show us your
14:41flirty face, would you like me to be the lady?
14:43Yeah, go on then.
14:44Hi.
14:45No, no.
14:46You don't know I'm coming yet.
14:47You're just sitting there, aren't you?
14:48Oh, I'm just sat here like a lady.
14:49Look over this way, right?
14:50And suddenly, watch this.
14:51What's your name?
14:52It doesn't matter.
14:53It doesn't matter.
14:54It doesn't matter.
14:55It doesn't matter.
14:56It doesn't matter.
14:57It doesn't matter.
14:58It doesn't matter.
14:59It doesn't matter.
15:00It doesn't matter.
15:01I'll take what it is you've got.
15:03Right, go on.
15:04I'll be the lady, right?
15:05Oh, I'll be the lady.
15:06Oh, this is so lovely.
15:07I love these colours of the flowers, don't you?
15:10Oh.
15:11Oh.
15:12Hello.
15:13Officer!
15:14Yeah.
15:21Happy birthday, Paul.
15:22Thanks, Bob.
15:23Cheers to you.
15:24Cheers to you.
15:5167.
15:52It's going to brighten up later, Paul.
15:53It's supposed to brighten up later, Bob.
15:54So we can slowly make our way at the river.
15:55Yeah.
15:56We might meet a friend of mine called Jim Murray.
15:57He's trying to save the chalk stream salmon.
15:59The numbers have declined, like, incredibly.
16:00Just dropped off the scale.
16:01And he's campaigning and shouting about it.
16:02He's slightly too handsome for my liking.
16:03Oh, I don't like the sound of that.
16:04No.
16:05How was your health, by the way?
16:06I should have.
16:07I haven't seen you for a bit.
16:08Pretty good, Bob.
16:09You know what I've got.
16:10There's a real problem is my foot.
16:11My left foot.
16:12I've got orthotics in.
16:13In the old slip-ons.
16:14Yeah.
16:15And they help a bit.
16:16And how are you at the moment, Bob?
16:17You always claim that you're in rude, good health.
16:18Not bad.
16:19Shingle still lingering.
16:20Shingle lingle.
16:21Shingle lingle.
16:22From beyond the grave.
16:23Yeah.
16:24It's messed up my muscles in my leg, but, you know, you have to have an attitude of gratitude,
16:25don't you?
16:26It could be so much worse.
16:27Oh, I don't like the sound of that.
16:28I don't like the sound of that.
16:29No.
16:30How was your health, by the way?
16:31I should have.
16:32I haven't seen you for a bit.
16:33Pretty good, Bob.
16:34You know what I've got?
16:35There's a real problem is my foot.
16:36My left foot.
16:37I've got orthotics in the old slip-ons.
16:38Yeah.
16:39And they help a bit.
16:40And how are you at the moment, Bob?
16:41You always claim that you're in rude, good health.
16:42Not bad.
16:43Shingle still lingering.
16:44Shingle lingle.
16:51That's true, actually.
16:52I mean, look at your face.
16:53You've got to look at that every morning.
16:56Yeah.
16:57Jeez.
16:58I mean, at least you've enhanced your teeth, haven't you?
17:02Hey, have you seen how long they are?
17:04Oh, no!
17:05It's quite something, isn't it?
17:12Come on, we'll leave the Mayfoy to fend for itself.
17:15Yep.
17:16Get down to the river.
17:17Yeah.
17:18Come, Ted.
17:21Come on, Ted, we're going this way.
17:22I'll get that wild brown trout, don't you worry.
17:23Well, you know, this is the kind of crucible of Victorian and Edwardian heated debate about
17:42fly fishing, Bob.
17:43What was the crux of the debate?
17:44Whether it is nobler to use the dry fly or the nymph.
17:48What do you reckon?
17:49I can't do the dry fly, so I'd like to use whichever method catches a fish, you know?
17:54Oh, exactly.
17:55It was a silly debate that they had.
17:56Why don't we start here?
17:57And we can work our way out.
17:58I can't see any rises, so get out a little bit and try to sort of upstream but sort of
18:03towards it.
18:04Just remember to check behind you as you cast.
18:06Just keep in touch with it, watch the indicator.
18:07That's great.
18:08Leave that there.
18:09Okay.
18:10Oh.
18:11Oh, that's how it presents.
18:12Don't touch it.
18:13Just leave that.
18:15Don't touch it.
18:16Let's leave that.
18:17Good luck mate, I thought you'd get something there.
18:18Good luck mate, I thought you'd get something there.
18:19Oh.
18:20Oh.
18:21Good luck mate, I thought you'd get something there.
18:22Oh.
18:23Oh.
18:24Oh.
18:25Oh.
18:26Oh, that's how it presents.
18:27Don't touch it.
18:28Just leave that.
18:29Oh.
18:30Good luck mate, I thought you'd get something there.
18:47Hey boss, you have a go sir.
18:54Right.
18:55I suppose Ted's out boss isn't he?
18:58He is isn't he?
18:59Well he thinks he is.
19:00I'm surprised we haven't had a single tug bug.
19:11It's frustrating isn't it?
19:13It's difficult, difficult, difficult.
19:14It is.
19:15All right, nothing doing here.
19:32I'm going to go for a wander, see if I can find Jim Murray, the guy I was telling you about,
19:38right?
19:39Oh yeah, you're all over him, aren't you?
19:40Yeah.
19:41He's better looking than you mate.
19:42I don't think so.
19:44I think you'll find he is.
19:46Catch you later.
19:59Medjip?
20:00Hello Mr Whitehouse.
20:01Come and join me.
20:03Look at him.
20:04Look at him.
20:05He looks handsome even from here.
20:06I hate him.
20:11Hello Paul.
20:12Hey, you do well there.
20:13Good bit of work out for the quads isn't it mate?
20:15Yeah.
20:16Lovely.
20:17Join me.
20:19Well, nice to see you Jim.
20:20And this is your manor.
20:21This is my manor.
20:22Oh look at his hair.
20:23I know.
20:24Could I have some of that?
20:25Just a few.
20:27So Jim, we know you from the Crown and Masters of the Air.
20:34I mean I know you as a fisherman.
20:36That wasn't quite what I was going to say.
20:39Okay fine.
20:40Yes, as an angler.
20:41Fellow angler.
20:42But also in recent years an activist angler.
20:46Yeah.
20:47So the chalk stream salmon as you know, but many don't, are very very rare and very depleted.
20:54Yeah.
20:55So Project White Heart is a brand new salmon restoration campaign across both the flagship chalk streams
21:00are testing the itching.
21:01And we are conducting a huge audit to find out exactly what the problems are for the salmon,
21:06which will take 12 to 18 months.
21:08We're fronting up to try and bring them back.
21:11Only 133 came over the counter last year on the itching, which is unsustainable.
21:15I mean I know it's a controversial area because it's so, the salmon is so specific to its natal river isn't it?
21:22It has to come back to the river of its birth.
21:25So why can't you just use the indigenous stock from the itching, grow those on until they're fry and release them into the river?
21:31Well so recently I've learned that you can't, if you just took eggs from a salmon that came into the itching,
21:37that salmon might be a salmon that spawns a quarter of a mile up river.
21:41Right.
21:42And if you then put that salmon back here, you're going to mess with the...
21:46Really?
21:47Yeah.
21:48That specific?
21:49You've got to be really careful when you mess with nature.
21:51Come on man.
21:58Oh ho.
22:00Do you hold out hopes for, you know, success for the salmon?
22:13Well...
22:14Because they're in decline everywhere.
22:15So you know, I think you do need some radical action.
22:18Well I would call this radical action because before this, no one was really doing anything.
22:22And I think once we get the order and the results in, it might well be that we do some stocking.
22:27Right.
22:28There's no point in going in head first, hand fisted until we know exactly what the problem is.
22:32How long will it take to get them back to sustainability?
22:35Can we do it?
22:36What I do know is that the salmon will be here long after we're gone.
22:39Well I hope so mate.
22:40Where does that passion of yours come from?
22:45For me, the reason why I want to give back to the rivers is because my wife and I lost our first child, Ella Jane, to a congenital heart disease in 2009.
22:58And the only way I could get over that, the only thing that helped me, was fishing and being in rivers.
23:07Some people have therapy, some people talk to friends.
23:10Some people see this as heaven.
23:12This was my church.
23:14I know that sounds a bit woo, but it worked for me.
23:18Fair play mate.
23:19So it helped me, so I want to give back I guess.
23:22Yeah.
23:28So you told him this should stock up salmon in here, didn't you?
23:39Yeah, I did, yeah.
23:40What a peasant.
23:41Well no, he does think we need to stock salmon, but there needs to be certain...
23:44Who are you, Trump?
23:46You think it's as simple as that?
23:47Just put salmon in there.
23:49Why not put salmon in the river?
23:51If there are any salmon in the river, simple equation, put the salmon in the river.
23:55Just go to the fishmongers.
23:57Put some salmon in the river.
23:59Put some salmon in the river, job done.
24:01That's you, isn't it?
24:02Yeah.
24:03Oh, big cloud over there, Paul.
24:05We could be in trouble.
24:06Yeah, it does look a bit ominous, doesn't it?
24:08Still it won't stop us.
24:09Come on in, mate.
24:10Last chance so long.
24:11I'm going to try with the dry, all right?
24:13Yep, go on.
24:14Do you know what to do?
24:16Well, I do.
24:17I'll do one cast, you'll grab it off me and say, no, you do it like this.
24:21Then I'll still do it exactly the same way.
24:23Got some fly line out, yes.
24:24Yep.
24:25I'll cast straight out now.
24:27Slightly upstream, maybe.
24:30That's a cracker.
24:31Let it go.
24:32Come on, come on.
24:33Come on, come on.
24:34Whoa.
24:35Come on.
24:36Can you see any?
24:37Yeah, I think there's a couple there.
24:39But now, you watch, you'll see it start to drag.
24:41And that's the end.
24:42And that's sort of the end, yeah.
24:45That's a lovely cast.
24:47Great cast.
24:48Oh, come on.
24:49Come on.
24:50Planet of the Apes angling game.
24:52Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
24:57You know you want it, you know you want it.
25:00Keep your tip down, Bob.
25:02Right.
25:03Let it go, let it go down.
25:06OK, we're going to change the fly, all right?
25:17Bit of rain, Paul.
25:18Yeah, what do you want to do?
25:20Fish on.
25:21You know, we really can't fish on if there's lightning, Bob.
25:26Right, come here.
25:28Give me that.
25:30Here we go.
25:31Is this the one?
25:32I don't know.
25:41Oh, come on, you boater.
25:43That's nice.
25:47Yes, he's in!
25:48Good lad.
25:49No, don't, no, no, no, no, no, no.
25:51No, no, no, no.
25:52Let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go.
25:54Let it go.
25:55Let's walk it down here.
25:56Did you see that, Paul?
25:57I did, mate, yeah.
25:59How did you see it?
26:00I was too quick.
26:01Tch, tch, tch.
26:02Concentrate on what you're doing.
26:04I'm going to lose it.
26:05Keep in touch with you for good.
26:06Look at the state of your reel.
26:08I've got it under control, Paul.
26:10Yeah, but look at your line on your reel, mate.
26:12Yeah, that's a mess.
26:14Do not wind.
26:15Do not wind, Bob.
26:17I'm not winding, I'm just charging up the reel.
26:20You just don't understand my generation.
26:22We do it differently.
26:24Dear me.
26:25Oh, it's a big lad.
26:27Don't hold on to that line.
26:29What am I doing?
26:30Nothing.
26:31Can you lift the rod up?
26:33Can't you just say, well done, you're doing this very nicely.
26:35Come on, yeah, you're doing really well.
26:36Encourage a young man.
26:37Incredible.
26:38It's like you've got a 22 pound salmon on.
26:40Stop winding!
26:41Right, come on.
26:43Gradually bring it across.
26:44It'll probably dash for freedom as it sees the net and we'll lose it.
26:48We're not losing fish today, Paul.
26:50Okay, Bobby.
26:51I admire you confidence.
26:53Come on.
26:54Come on.
26:55Come on, then.
26:56Come on.
26:57Come on.
26:58Come on, come on, come on.
26:59Yeah.
27:00Yay!
27:01Bang-a-bang!
27:02Hey!
27:05Don't!
27:06I've come in a ditch.
27:10Oh dear, the angling world is mocking us.
27:16You come in.
27:17Yeah.
27:18I've got you.
27:19Right.
27:20Let's see this beautiful fish, shall we, Bob?
27:22Ooh.
27:23Look at that.
27:24Look at that.
27:25Beautiful, wild.
27:26Golden.
27:27Look at the reds.
27:28Yeah, and can you see that little lilac stripe as well?
27:30Yeah, just this beauty.
27:31Yeah.
27:32On a dry mayfly.
27:34It's a lovely fish, lovely wild trout.
27:36Right, let's get him back, Paul.
27:38There we go.
27:40Get your bearings.
27:41Come on, beautiful.
27:43And away!
27:46Oh, thank you.
27:47Thank you, Paul.
27:48My first wild brown trout on a dry fly.
27:52Day before my birthday.
27:53God, that's a present, isn't it?
27:55Good luck.
27:57Thank you, sir.
27:58And away to the pub for us, I think.
28:00Yeah.
28:01Don't you?
28:02Give us a shove.
28:03Go on, then.
28:06Come on, then.
28:09Wow, look at that.
28:10A double rainbow, Bob.
28:12They've come out to celebrate my live trout.
28:15True.
28:16Yeah, either that or it's like refracting through the rain drops, Bob.
28:19Yeah.
28:20Could be.
28:21Yeah, could be that.
28:22Doubts.
28:23Thank you for that, and thank you for bringing me here, Paul.
28:24My pleasure.
28:25Rainbows to go.
28:26Rainbows to go.
28:27I could feel at the time.
28:29There was no way for knowing.
28:30Falling leaves in the night.
28:31Who can't say when they're glowing.
28:33As free as the wind.
28:34Hopefully learning.
28:35Why the sea on the tide.
28:37Is not an eternity.
28:38More than that.
28:56More than that
