00:00Hey everybody, I'm Taylor. I'm gonna be doing some songs for you guys tonight.
00:05I hope you guys are having a great time.
00:07Very early on, she just knew she was gonna have to work hard.
00:14I mean, it depends on how far back we want to go.
00:18But it escalated from school play, theater group, karaoke nights.
00:26I'm gonna be doing some songs for you guys, and I hope you guys are having a great time because I sure am.
00:31Calling around to festivals and amusement parks to see if there was a spot for a little kid with a guitar and a couple of speakers.
00:40It was as basic as you can possibly imagine.
00:44Dragging guitars through airports, piling them into a rental car.
00:51Hit another city, another city, and just keep going.
00:56And she, from a very early age, always knew exactly how she wanted things to be.
01:04And she was always planning what her headline tour would be like.
01:09You know, I never heard her say the word fame or money.
01:15It was always just about the opportunity to go sing her songs and have everybody else singing those same words back to her.
01:26She would do these theaters, and they kept getting bigger and bigger and sold out faster and faster.
01:36So it was a gradual thing.
01:42But I don't think that when you are doing that, you ever, for a split second, take the time to think, it will become this.
01:54Applause
02:37The European tour was so intense that, by the end, I was exhausted past a point that
02:47I can remember.
02:50So we need the break after Wembley to recharge not only our bodies, our energy, but our passion
03:01for giving that much every night.
03:06So that by the time we got back to the US, we were all just like fired up.
03:26Since we finished the massive European leg of the ARES tour, it's really just been trying
03:33to get back up to speed, being home.
03:39We have this two month break, we'll kind of regroup and catch our breath a little bit.
03:44Oh buddy, I'm taking care of my home life and then we'll get ready for the final push.
03:50I love traveling.
03:51I love my job.
03:52It's the best.
03:53And like everything's planned for us and then you get home and you're like, what do I do?
03:57And you have to learn how to schedule things for yourself again.
04:02So why I'm really excited for this break is so that I can sit right here and practice.
04:10I do live with my parents, my little brother and my grandma.
04:16I love coming home to them, getting like home cooked meals and stuff.
04:20I am eventually going to get my own apartment in LA.
04:24Yes, don't embarrass me.
04:26Definitely, for sure.
04:28It's a long time to be away.
04:32Rachel and I don't have children, but I mean, I went crazy how much I missed the dog.
04:37You know, just trying to get back into being a normal human and having a schedule and adulting.
04:45Trying to get life back together.
04:47It's four months, it's a long time to just check out and have fun, but come back to like,
04:54Oh reality, my car registration, yikes.
05:01Love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this, love this.
05:07Okay.
05:09So we'll just start in show order.
05:12Yeah, let's put on all the, you know, if you want, we can take these for a spin for the run through.
05:20Sunset.
05:22Hello Miami.
05:23Yeah, this should be first probably.
05:25So pretty.
05:26Nostalgia is a huge part of the era's tour.
05:31If you were 12 years old during the red era, you're going to remember certain things that you saw and certain things that you felt.
05:39It's my job to bring those feelings and those visuals back to you.
05:43Wardrobe is one way to do that.
05:45Oh, I love it.
05:46Oh, I'm so excited.
05:47The costume design for the era's tour was undertaken by my longtime stylist, Joseph Cassell.
05:55He's been with me since I was 16.
05:58The era's tour is all about the fans, you know, the reason I'm able to do my job so well is because I am a fan too.
06:13I love the organic way that Taylor and I work.
06:17It's like this secret language that we have.
06:19She would send me images.
06:20She'll be like, ooh, send me an image.
06:22And I'm like, aha.
06:23Wow.
06:24I saw Epiphany last night.
06:25You did?
06:26And I pulled about 50 different pictures from online.
06:28Nice.
06:29For the acoustic set.
06:30Awesome.
06:31I want it to be all 50s dresses.
06:32For the tour, we chose to be a little reflective and sentimental and tie in the designers who had been with Taylor from the beginning.
06:48I mean, dancing all night, yeah, my feet ache, but I'm wearing Louboutins.
06:53Like, it is a privilege for these feet to ache like this.
06:57This was designed by Roberto Cavalli.
07:00She puts it on in the dark on stage.
07:02The magic of Velcro.
07:03The video for 22.
07:04I remember it like it was yesterday.
07:06Reputation.
07:08These strips are all sequined by hand.
07:11Cavalli, 1989.
07:13I remember meeting with Versace and Milan and I was like, oh my gosh.
07:18When you see the Versace bodysuit, just made of all these crystals and the light hits it and it's just...
07:26Oh my God.
07:28Ooh.
07:29So obsessed with this.
07:30This is my new favorite, for sure.
07:32It somehow, like, heals me from having the stomach flu.
07:36It can take me from being utterly exhausted.
07:39I'm just like, nope.
07:41If I'm wearing this, I gotta level up.
07:43I gotta be on the level of this outfit.
07:45So here's another option of the coat.
07:51It's less overtly military, you know?
07:54When I start working on something with tea...
07:58You wanna try the white one?
08:00I'm only thinking about the effect that it has on her.
08:04Oh my God.
08:08That's amazing.
08:10Until I step into a stadium and I'm, like, blown away.
08:15Listen for the best.
08:17My reputation's never been worse, so...
08:20You must like me, fool me.
08:22Thousands of people dress in a way that reflects one of Taylor's looks.
08:27Diver on the east side, where you at?
08:29Falling lights at my nightstand in the black.
08:32Come here, you can meet me in the back.
08:34They use tape, they use stones, they use whatever.
08:37I am a lover.
08:38She has an outfit with, like, a lot of rainbow fringe.
08:41That's kind of where this came in.
08:43The commitment the fans have is beyond the music.
08:49There's a connection on a deep soul level with Taylor.
08:54During her New Jersey concert, Taylor debuted a new dress
08:57in this beautiful burgundy.
08:59Again, like the jacket.
09:00I really love this one.
09:02Is it cool that I said all that?
09:05The costumes generally mean a lot.
09:08But Reputation was monumental.
09:13Is it cool that I said all that?
09:15Is it too soon to do this yet?
09:18Cause I know that it's dead like it.
09:22My favorite part of the show is the Reputation set.
09:24My mom made this outfit from scratch.
09:26I have, like, a Reputation bodysuit inside.
09:28I love it.
09:29Like, it tears into a bodysuit.
09:30I'm at Reputation Group.
09:31Of course.
09:35Taylor Swift's most iconic outfit on the Heiress Tour
09:38is, of course, this never-changing Reputation bodysuit.
09:42Which we've only gotten one the entire 131 shows.
09:45What we're waiting for right now is to see if Taylor Swift
09:47is gonna come out with a new Reputation outfit.
09:50Just the same?
09:51Same outfit.
09:52Yeah.
09:53We were clowning.
09:54We keep waiting for a new Reputation bodysuit
09:57just for funsies.
09:59If she were to have a new Reputation bodysuit,
10:01what would you want it to look like?
10:03This is the new one.
10:07This is the new one.
10:08Yeah.
10:09Brow, brow, brow, brow, brow.
10:13Oh, it doesn't look bad at all.
10:16No, it does.
10:17It does.
10:18See, this...
10:19It's gotta come up.
10:20It has to come up because they think my boobs are here,
10:23but they're here.
10:24You know?
10:25The original catsuit was made from a different fabric.
10:29That was all the fabric that there was in the world.
10:32So we had to recreate the fabric for the second one
10:34and for this one.
10:35I know what you mean.
10:36Yeah, it's just really annoying,
10:37and I have to do really athletic shit in this.
10:39But we thought we could fix it
10:41because there was no time for them to actually recreate
10:43a new one in time for Miami.
10:46They couldn't do it.
11:01Yeah.
11:02Slip!
11:06What other...
11:07Oh!
11:08Dean, you have a piece.
11:09Sit.
11:13What?
11:14What?
11:15What?
11:16What?
11:17Action!
11:18Wait, look.
11:19I've never done that before.
11:20Dude, that was great.
11:21I'm gonna get one last time.
11:22Slip.
11:25This is the tour gift wall
11:27where at the end of each tour
11:29we get a plaque thanking us for the,
11:32you know, for participating in the tour.
11:34This was my first tour with her.
11:37I started with Taylor in 2009.
11:39In the trajectory of my professional life and career,
11:43yeah, that's probably the zero to 60 right there.
11:48Strapped onto that rocket
11:49and have been able to do all of this with her,
11:52which is great.
11:57Remember this?
11:58Aw.
12:02It was her first birthday present from Taylor.
12:04It's got a little photo of Mommy and Sophie,
12:10Daddy and Sophie,
12:11and then Miss Taylor as she calls her.
12:13Yes, Miss Taylor.
12:15We had both our kids while I was working for her,
12:17so she was kind of around both of the births
12:20and I think that this was...
12:22Oh, it was the first child?
12:23Yeah, it was the first kid born while in the band.
12:25Yeah.
12:27And so, yeah, I think it was a special moment.
12:29Yeah.
12:30Yeah.
12:31It's so wonderful being able to carry
12:36a professional family with you
12:40as you go through phases of life,
12:42as you go through ups and downs and heartbreaks.
12:52There is such a special bond among the touring family.
12:55It's like having another family.
12:57They're the only other people really in the world
13:00who know what this is like.
13:02Before the show, after the show, on the off days,
13:05we are like this.
13:07And that's not normal.
13:12It's like she's handpicked these incredible people
13:16to be a part of this family.
13:19Most of the people I'm out here on the road with
13:22have known me since high school.
13:24But also, there are people that I just got to know
13:33in this phase of my life.
13:35Jeslyn is one of the most talented, resilient, loving people
13:41I've ever been around.
13:42She was the newest addition to our backup singers.
13:45I started with her reputation.
13:47I had never done a stadium tour before.
13:50And so the first show was just like,
13:53whoa, this is a lot of people.
13:56We've been singing together for a couple of years.
13:58And when Jeslyn got sick,
14:02it was the first blow that the tour family experienced emotionally.
14:08It was like completely unfathomable to us.
14:16This sucks.
14:18While on tour, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
14:21And obviously it was devastating.
14:29But every weekend we had a show.
14:31So I still flew to the next city,
14:33did a show with everyone.
14:34And like in the middle of the week when we weren't doing shows,
14:37I would fly back to LA and just had biopsies
14:40and just poked and frotted to learn really what I had to do treatment-wise
14:44and then hopped back on stage
14:46and pretended like nothing was happening.
14:51I'll never forget when she told us.
14:53Everyone was just in shambles.
14:55And it's the not knowing.
14:59When I let Taylor know,
15:00she came storming in with hugs and crying
15:04and just saying, I'm so sorry.
15:06And her mom said, you just take care of you
15:08and we'll be here when you're ready.
15:14So six months, I had to like take off and go through chemo, surgery.
15:22I had edema.
15:23I had like skin issues.
15:26I usually have all this curly hair.
15:32Lost about 75% of my hair.
15:35I felt and looked completely different.
15:38And just kind of watch my friends on live streams in the show.
15:44It was a hard one because we got to come be together for months.
15:50We love you, Jess. We miss you.
15:52We love you, Jess.
15:53She was home by herself.
15:55I miss you.
15:56Isolated from the family.
16:00We just wanted her to know that no matter what,
16:03under any circumstances,
16:05if she wanted to come back, she could.
16:13Goodbye treatment.
16:15I said, how quickly can I get back on tour after I'm done with radiation?
16:21My doctor said, that night.
16:24But you have to get back into shape.
16:28She literally finished radiation and got on a plane.
16:32I actually have a video of when we saw each other at the hotel.
16:39Just coming back to this joy-filled show and these people just emphasized even more how much we're a family.
16:49I cannot believe that she was back in a few months.
17:03The will to come back and do the hardest show ever, none of us could believe it.
17:10I still can't.
17:19Just keep your bodies still.
17:31In no way do I ever apply this.
17:45this to my at any point in the show just want to flag that as I do every time I have to do pull-ups
17:53strong dislike two thumbs down you have gotten stronger on those throughout the years it's from
18:07all the pent-up rage and resentment I have for them to leave on Thursday night Thursday morning
18:14go there do a full run-through in the stadium which I'm really excited about with costumes
18:21I want to be like back in it so much that I can like not be so like remember your stuff that you
18:28don't want to forget like you know you don't want to see me do this without a rehearsal that's what
18:33you don't want yeah there are a lot of things that we pulled off on this tour that I've never even
18:41attempted on past tours I think the longest show I ever did before was two hours and 15 minutes
18:47I never would have believed you if you would have told me we would be doing a three and a half hour
18:52show now saying that is one thing doing that physically is another I've never worked out
19:01this much in my life it's horrible I really had to up my game in terms of physical training
19:13six months ahead of my first rehearsal running on the treadmill every single day at the tempo of the
19:22songs that I was playing while singing them out loud you just don't want them to see you panting
19:311989 and reputation are very high cardio anything's hard when you're scaling a stage that goes the
19:40entire length of an NFL stadium I think I run like eight miles in the show
19:45once we get to Miami the turnaround time from landing and performing will be very short
19:54we leave in six days haven't played the show in a couple months and there are some things I want
20:01to make sure that I don't mess up oh we are so bad
20:31can I do a video like out in the stadium with my cat we'll find a place out in the stadium but it'll
20:44be like me walking in with my cat just like take my sunglasses off and like so it would be behind me
20:53and then once I stopped start going around me like this it's basically like we're back in the
21:00office you know yeah yeah and I've got my most well-behaved cat for it
21:04she is my best one
21:16oh what an idiot oh shirts on backwards I knew something looked weird
21:26it's wild being back so it's lots of hugging telling the same story like 50 times as far as
21:34what you've been up to over the break it's awesome it's awesome to be back it doesn't feel like work
21:38Florida one two three four we are starting our last leg of this tour we have 18 more shows left
21:46which is very bittersweet it's very sad
21:49we're cramming yeah cramming for the test at Miami stadium I'm a little nervous but but you know
22:03it's because we want it to be good oh man well we'll see we'll see what I remember
22:10I keep thinking today is a show day huh I keep thinking today is a show day it is a show day
22:19it is a show day in my brain it has to be a show day I have got to like
22:23plan I need to do a full run through because my brain just it's like I can't remember a single
22:30part of the show we should all treat tonight like a show day show day um fitting time
22:37that's what I was about to say are we actually gonna get I know I'm like I got really excited
22:47all of a sudden I gotta see if this can even happen because they put my boob cups
22:52on my rib cage either way I want to see it
22:56it's not that beautiful the way it fits me now
23:02I don't know how you guys manage this
23:18oh wait how does it fit so well this is beautiful
23:26I'm really glad they're here to document this because they documented the other the other way
23:30oh it's perfect nothing's gonna pop out and look it's like it's in this how is in the right spot
23:38because Diana's a genius you guys took the cups out what happened
23:41oh it's now my favorite I didn't see this coming
23:47oh my gosh I'm shocked
23:49this I don't know I don't know I don't know
23:55I truly don't when I tell you guys that the bra was in a corset here
24:04like like a second row of others
24:08oh I'm so excited I'm so excited
24:11I've never had an alternate outfit for the reputation section not once
24:16people are going to lose their mind
24:18as we were getting ready to go back into the shows again
24:41Taylor was like mom I'm really worried
24:44I'm trying to go back in my mind and run through the show
24:47and I get to certain spots and it just stops
24:50and I said don't worry about it
24:53I said you're gonna get back on that stage
24:56and everything will come flooding back
24:58I guarantee it
24:59and I hoped that I was right
25:02but I didn't know
25:03performing that show
25:06is incredibly technical
25:08and hard
25:09this tour isn't kind of like
25:11oh we just fly by the seat of our pants around here
25:13no like we stage manage the shit out of this show
25:17we're dealing with lots of production elements
25:21lighting
25:23screen content
25:25pyro
25:26moving floors
25:28confetti
25:29costumes
25:30choreography
25:31there's so many moving parts
25:33and it has to be
25:35no mistakes
25:36perfect timing
25:38there's a lot going on
25:42that happens really fast
25:44a lot of fast cues
25:45from one end of the stage to the other
25:48see piano lift up
25:50go
25:51it's nerve wracking
25:523.3 UFO
25:54go
25:55go
25:58go
25:59go
26:00it takes a lot
26:04taking the right stuff out
26:06at the right times
26:07so
26:07we all have to communicate well
26:09we're always moving
26:11the wings can be challenging
26:14we have had incidences where they broke
26:16if there's high winds
26:18it gets really hard for them
26:19because it's super heavy
26:21Q4301
26:24go
26:25she's singing
26:31and having to engage
26:33and having to figure out
26:34what's coming next
26:35she has some flexibility
26:39in where she might go
26:41but there are some times
26:42when it's very exact
26:43and if she's not standing
26:45in the right place
26:46it's actually dangerous
26:47I don't want to fall in a hole
26:50and I don't want to have like
26:51pyro go off on my head
26:52I legitimately celebrate
26:54like every moment
26:55that something doesn't go wrong
26:56everybody is firing
27:00on all cylinders
27:01I work in the wardrobe department
27:17and I also am
27:20one of Taylor's dressers
27:21there's two of us
27:22every alpha change
27:24is about
27:26a minute
27:27and 15
27:28or less
27:29our fastest quick change
27:30though
27:30is 39 seconds
27:32with her in the room
27:32those quick changes
27:35are like nothing
27:36you've ever seen before
27:37it is like watching
27:41a NASCAR race
27:43how many quick changes
27:45does she have
27:4520 quick changes
27:48our crew helped us build
27:50four quick change booths
27:52from there we kind of travel
27:53through the underworld
27:55of the stage
27:55it's all very very fast
27:57we don't really have time
28:02for snags
28:03it's very choreographed
28:05every second counts
28:06every millisecond counts
28:07there were moments
28:11where I thought
28:11I don't know
28:12if these costume changes
28:15are gonna happen in time
28:16I'm only off the stage
28:18for a maximum
28:19of two minutes at a time
28:20those transitions
28:22it's like
28:23I'm going under the stage
28:24I'm getting on a weird
28:25like pulley system
28:26I'm getting pulled over here
28:29meanwhile
28:29I'm unzipping my thing
28:31I'm running upstairs
28:32I'm going into a different
28:33quick change room
28:34on a whole different floor
28:35I'm ripping this off
28:36I'm putting this on
28:38stomp your feet three times
28:39it's literally
28:40the most complicated system
28:42you have no idea
28:44the panic
28:45of worrying
28:47you're not gonna be dressed
28:48in time
28:48for the song to start
28:49and it is that panic
28:51that drives me
28:53to never be late
28:54I remember one time
29:00I was running
29:00from the Evermore era
29:02I trip over the hem
29:04of my dress
29:05bust my knee
29:07I skid
29:09the palm
29:10of my hand
29:11off
29:12hobble
29:14into the quick change room
29:15blood's coming down
29:16my hand
29:17I'm changing
29:18into the reputation
29:19bodysuit
29:20the skin
29:20that's flapping off
29:22I just pull it off
29:23more blood
29:24they don't have
29:25a band-aid back there
29:26wasn't late
29:29wasn't late
29:31for the intro
29:32of that song
29:33the fans noticed it
29:35a couple days later
29:36they're like
29:36oh her palm's gone
29:38I was like
29:40I am not acknowledging
29:41this
29:41nothing's wrong
29:43it's always been like that
29:45space
29:45what are you doing
29:48I thought you said

32:14to around 30

32:26in the last 24 hours
32:27that's good to know
32:28because it has been higher
32:29outside the bowl
32:30here
32:31okay
32:32the weather element
32:33of playing outdoor stadiums
32:35is at times delightful
32:37and exciting
32:38at times
32:40it is frustrating
32:41at times
32:42it is
32:43feels
32:44uh
32:45really
32:46really horrific
32:47looking at precipitation

32:49it looks like
32:50as you go on
32:51later in the day
32:51the chances for showers
32:53start to increase
32:54like

33:27do not love it
33:28do not like to see
33:30the speakers doing this
33:31hate that
33:32don't want it
33:33when you hear the word
33:34lightning
33:34that's
33:36when we start having to
33:38really worry about postponements
33:41we also have
33:42the lightning detection system
33:43and this
33:45you can come in here

33:54where sometimes
33:55it's kind of wonderful
33:57just cinema
33:59just drama
34:01just it adds to it
34:02it adds to the show
34:03if there aren't
34:05other
34:05weather situations at play

35:47now they're resting
35:48didn't know if you'd care if I came back
35:52have a lot of regrets about that
35:55pulled the car off the road to the lookout
35:58could have followed my fears all the way down
36:02maybe I don't quite know what to say
36:05but I'm here in your doorway
36:07I just wanted you to know
36:09I just wanted you to know
36:10this is me trying

36:18this is me trying
36:20and I can still see it all in my mind
36:28all the you
36:29all the me intertwine
36:31once believed love would be black and white
36:34but it's golden
36:36and I can still see it all in my head
36:40I can't find from New York
36:43sneaking in your bed
36:44I once believed life would be burning red
36:47but it's golden
36:49like daylight
36:51like daylight
36:54like daylight
36:58daylight

37:06now that I saw you
37:08I don't wanna think of anything else
37:10I don't wanna think of anything else
37:12now that I thought of you
37:14I've been sleeping so long in a 20 year dark night
37:19when I would see daylight
37:23I only see daylight

37:27I only see daylight, daylight, daylight, daylight
37:31daylight, daylight

37:52that this is me trying
38:05I love all of you guys so so much and I feel heard and seen and loved and there's one thing I
38:15I admire many things about you but there's one thing that I'll never forget
38:20I came to your birthday last year and I actually tripped on the sidewalk
38:26I fell on my face like in front of paparazzi that were outside
38:32so I was dealing with side effects and stuff but when you introduced me to
38:37everyone you said guys this is Jessalyn we sing together
38:43I said that's a way to put it
38:50no one no one says that and I think that's it just says something about who
38:59you are and how humble you are and how you like to shed light on people and like
39:06make them feel bigger than they think they are and in that moment I needed that
39:12it's never a me it's always a we and I think that it just makes me feel like like
39:20we are the only we that will ever be on the biggest fucking tour in the world
39:24now I'm ready
39:37Pittsburgh
39:39everyone
39:40you

44:05Are you ready for it?
44:07Baby, let love games begin!
44:09Let love games begin!
44:11Are you ready for it?
44:27I'm very well aware of mysterious forces at play that I will never have any control of.
44:45Oh, my goodness!
44:49So, all I can ever do is say to myself, I'm gonna use every tool in my toolkit.
45:01I'm gonna paint with every single brush I've got.
45:04I'm going to be as detail-oriented as possible.
45:07I'm gonna try as hard as I possibly can to give these people everything that they want.
45:11But, sometimes, there's something that happens that's amazing.
45:24That's not something you can plan for, and not something that you can manufacture.
45:30You know, it's like...
45:44It's just, there's still gotta be some, like, magical, beautiful mystery to life.
45:52Dad, let me pour out!
45:54Please!
45:56Dad, let me pour out!
45:58Dad, let me pour out!
