00:51okay so what are we talking about here
00:58the biopsy showed that you have triple negative breast cancer
01:03triple negative
01:06what does that mean
01:08triple negative breast cancer is an aggressive form of invasive cancer
01:13and it can be more challenging to treat than other types but there are treatment options
01:18and we'll talk through those together
01:19if you don't do that
01:25always say
01:28you
01:28you
01:32you
01:36you
01:37you
01:48Thank you, thank you, thank you.
01:59It's not even crooked.
02:01So I did good.
02:02You did perfect.
02:03It's not too tall, too short, too fat, too thin.
02:06I would say it's just right.
02:08Okay, Goldilocks.
02:10You mean Leola?
02:11Leola?
02:12Leola and the Honey Bears.
02:14You never read it?
02:15Nah.
02:15It's wonderful.
02:16I used to read it to Naomi and Chelsea when they were little girls.
02:20It's this beautiful black version of that fairy tale by, oh gosh, Melody Benson Rosales.
02:26Yes.
02:27And it's about an independent, bold little girl, which as you can imagine, both of my little
02:32ones were.
02:34Never heard of it.
02:35But I do like picturing Naomi and Chelsea as little kids all snuggled up on your lap.
02:41That sounds sweet.
02:41It really was.
02:43In some ways it was a cautionary tale.
02:45Listen to your elders.
02:47But underneath, I always felt like it was really about the importance of family and community.
02:52Right.
02:53Because that is exactly what Christmas is about.
02:57Family and community.
02:59Yeah.
03:02Yes.
03:02Yeah.
03:03And having a better Christmas tree than everybody else.
03:08You are Larry's.
03:10I'm dead serious.
03:10This is going to be the best Christmas tree ever.
03:16It's a Christmas tree, Martin.
03:18It's not a competition.
03:20Have you met my family?
03:21Everything is a competition.
03:23Even tonight, Aunt Danny is throwing a competing tree trimming party.
03:28And I can confirm she's trying to bogart my mom and Kat from our guest list, even though
03:32I was the first one to send out the invitations.
03:34I love your mom and I love Kat, but maybe it's for the best that they're going to Danny's.
03:40It could have been uncomfortable given that Ted and Eva are coming here.
03:45It's true.
03:49Vernon is stepping out on Anita.
03:51I saw it for myself.
03:53Okay.
03:54Then tell me what you think you know.
03:56Eva was leaving my hotel room, right?
03:58And she forgot her gloves.
04:00So I opened the door, ran to tell her, and boom, there was Vernon and Sharon.
04:06And do you know that he walked into that woman's hotel room?
04:11Hmm.
04:12What's that prove?
04:13Nothing.
04:14She could have been visiting for Thanksgiving, or joining Anita at the bar for dinner, and
04:18Vernon was escorting her downstairs.
04:20The man is a gentleman, if nothing else.
04:23Gentleman my behind.
04:26Nobody was walking anybody anywhere, all right?
04:31Vernon and Sharon were getting busy.
04:34And what makes you so sure of that?
04:37I heard it.
04:39And what did you hear them say?
04:40That they didn't want to be seen together because people would get the wrong idea.
04:45Then I distinctly heard Vernon say, especially my wife.
04:51Could he have been joking?
04:53Absolutely not.
04:55And you know this because?
04:58Because I confronted Vernon at Winterfest, and he didn't deny it.
05:05Face it, Vernon is stepping out on Anita the same way you stepped out on the call.
05:11You have to wait for the guests to get here so we can decorate these first.
05:22Oh, look.
05:23Yes.
05:24Oh, nice trying.
05:25Okay, so when is everybody supposed to get here?
05:28Oh, now.
05:29Oh, you better get that.
05:30No way.
05:31I am staying here to guard the cookies with these keys.
05:34Okay, I'll get the door, warden.
05:38Look, Samantha.
05:39Oh, I've always loved this ornament.
05:42Pop got it for our first Christmas year.
05:44Hey, everyone.
05:45Look who's here.
05:45Hey.
05:46Hey.
05:46Bella, happy holidays.
05:48Happy holidays.
05:53Hi, June.
05:54Hi.
05:54Thank you so much for inviting me.
05:56I hope you like eggnots.
05:59Sure, I'll have some.
06:01Thank you so much.
06:03Oh, I cannot tell you how warm and fuzzy it makes me feel inside that all of you have accepted
06:09me into your face.
06:11Warm and fuzzy.
06:12I like that description.
06:14Oh, you're decorating the tree?
06:17I have something for the two of you.
06:20Oh, well, thank you, June.
06:23We'll put them under the tree when it's done.
06:25It'll be great if you open them now.
06:30What are these?
06:31They're ornaments.
06:33The two of you made them.
06:38You make it tough to not at least consider what you're saying might be true, but...
06:45It is true.
06:46But you don't have to worry, because I promised Vernon I'd keep my mouth shut.
06:51And you know better than anybody that I'm really good at keeping secrets.
06:56I mean, I kept ours for decades.
06:59So this information can be between you and me.
07:04Hell, it might even bring us closer together.
07:09Why would it do that?
07:11Don't worry, Teddy, all right?
07:13I'm not trying to light any fires between you and me.
07:17Then don't call me Teddy.
07:20It's a bright red flag for me, Dana.
07:22All right, Ted.
07:24Ted, my friend.
07:27Because that is exactly what we are now, right?
07:31Besides, I have other irons in the fire.
07:34Good.
07:35I'm glad you do.
07:37Well, I'm glad you're glad.
07:38And I won't be pressing you to take me with you to Martin's party.
07:42Besides, you and Eva need to have some father-daughter time.
07:47Mm-hmm.
07:47Enjoy yourselves.
07:49Mm-hmm.
07:50I have a question for you, Dana.
07:51Shoot.
07:52Why would you even bother to tell me your suspicions regarding Vernon and this...
07:57supposed affair?
08:00Consider it a Christmas gift.
08:02I thought you'd prefer knowing about Vernon's hypocrisy.
08:12What is it that you're keeping from me, Sharon?
08:15Nothing.
08:16I swear, you're so suspicious.
08:19And you're a terrible liar.
08:20Always have been.
08:21I don't believe you.
08:25I know what this is about.
08:27I already told you what it's about.
08:28Nothing.
08:29You told someone about Anita's health scare.
08:30I would never do that.
08:34The vulture confidence like that.
08:36Anita made it very clear that she was telling us about the biopsy in private.
08:42And Vernon doesn't even know anything about it.
08:44And he certainly isn't going to hear about it from me.
08:47Hear about what?
08:51So, what kind of breast cancer is this?
08:54What does triple negative mean?
08:56I think it would be best for you if you take your phone out and record the rest of our conversation.
09:03Because what I'm about to tell you can be a lot to take in.
09:07And then this way you can review our session later or share it with your family.
09:10And if you have any other questions, you can contact me.
09:13I'll be available to you day or night.
09:15First, there are some informational things that you should know.
09:24Black women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with this type of breast cancer than white women.
09:29And unlike most breast cancers, triple negative cancer cells don't have estrogen or progesterone receptors.
09:36And they also don't make much of the HER2 protein.
09:38And that's why they call it triple negative.
09:40What it does do is grow and spread faster than other types.
09:45It also, sadly, has a high recurrence rate.
09:52I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.
09:55I know.
09:56It is a great deal of information and process.
10:00But when it comes to treatment, time really does matter.
10:04There will be some important decisions to make and we're going to need to make them fairly quickly.
10:08I'm assuming that you are on board with moving forward with treatment?
10:15Yes, of course.
10:19So, where do we begin?
10:21Is there a process, a leader, a team?
10:26Yes, to all of the above.
10:28I'm going to get you set up with an oncologist who will do some further testing.
10:31And then a group of cancer specialists called the Tumor Board will go over your case together and figure out the best next steps.
10:39You'll then be assigned a nurse navigator who will set you up with your cancer care team.
10:44They will get you set up with scheduling for your port placement or chemo and so forth.
10:48Vernon, what are you doing here?
10:54That's my question, Sharon.
10:56Since I live here and you don't, what are you two even doing in town, huh?
11:02It's always wonderful to see you, but to what do we owe the pleasure?
11:07We came to surprise Anita for Christmas.
11:09Ah, well, I don't see my wife.
11:13Was she so surprised she took to her bed?
11:17Vernon, you and your jokes.
11:19Seriously, where is Anita?
11:22She went to the hospital to get some test results.
11:25From her vision test.
11:29She got results from her vision test a few days ago.
11:33Did I say vision?
11:35Tracy means hearing.
11:36Anita said that she was going to get the results from her hearing test.
11:41And maybe you should get your hearing tested too, Tracy.
11:44Maybe I should.
11:47Hearing test.
11:49Okay, you two.
11:52Anita's probably told you to keep a Christmas secret so I won't push.
11:58If you'll excuse me, please.
12:00Is there a restroom this way?
12:01Write down the hall.
12:02Okay, thank you.
12:06Vernon, why didn't you tell me you were on your way back home?
12:10Why didn't you tell me you were at my house alone with Tracy?
12:14Look, it doesn't matter now.
12:17We covered.
12:18And Tracy is totally in the dark and so is Anita.
12:22Nobody knows what's going on between us.
12:24That's not exactly true.
12:27What?
12:27What do you mean?
12:28Somebody saw us together.
12:33Cindy!
12:34You're alone.
12:36I'm a little disappointed.
12:37I thought you'd change your mind and invite Carlton.
12:40Oh, I thought about it.
12:42But he did already have plans.
12:44Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
12:46Well, we'll just have to make do without him.
12:48We should still have a pretty big crew.
12:50Why?
12:50Is there a reason you're trying to have a big group here?
12:52For Andre.
12:53I wanted to make things festive for him.
12:55That's why I encouraged everyone to bring a plus one.
12:58Happy holidays, Mom.
12:59Aunt Nicole.
13:00Andre.
13:02Merry Christmas Eve, honey.
13:04Where's Jacob?
13:06Who cares?
13:08Sweetie, what's going on?
13:10Did something happen between you and Jacob?
13:12I guess you could say that.
13:14We're not speaking.
13:15We're not speaking.
13:19Honey, I thought things were getting better between you and Jacob.
13:22When you started going to couples therapy,
13:24genuinely seemed like things were looking up.
13:26You're right.
13:27Things were going better.
13:29Great.
13:29In fact, we spent a wonderful romantic evening together just last night.
13:32So what changed in such a short time?
13:35I don't want to ruin your Christmas sparkle with my sob story.
13:37We can talk about it later.
13:39Okay.
13:40I won't press.
13:42This party is seriously shrinking.
13:48Ugh, Chelsea.
13:50More shrinkage.
13:52You kids made these when you were just little bitty things.
13:58My sister, Regina, kept them at her house,
14:00and she gave them to me when we reconnected.
14:04I thought you'd like to have them.
14:06They're so cute.
14:08I don't even remember them.
14:10Do you?
14:12Did we make them at school?
14:13You did.
14:14You did.
14:15You were so proud of yourselves.
14:18But being who I was back then,
14:20I didn't get you a Christmas tree like I promised to make happen.
14:26So there was nowhere to hang them.
14:28Anyway, you were devastated.
14:34Maybe you just couldn't afford to buy a tree.
14:38That's a kind thought.
14:40But I probably had the money.
14:44I'm sure I just spent it.
14:45A little while after that, I made the call to CPS.
14:49I knew you'd have a better chance without me.
14:58It's the hardest thing I've ever done.
15:03But seeing your lives now,
15:05I know it was the right thing for you.
15:09You deserve to grow up in a house with a Christmas tree,
15:14with loving parents who could provide for you.
15:18Martin and Smitty, I am always grateful to you.
15:27Your decision was our good fortune, June.
15:32Don't feel bad, June.
15:34Okay, we're fine now.
15:36Both of us.
15:38Smith's right.
15:41We can all see the work you've done to turn your life around.
15:44Changing yourself and the way you do things.
15:48It's not easy.
15:51I'm proud of you.
15:55And if it's okay to say,
15:59I forgive you.
16:06Hey.
16:08I hope it's okay that I let myself in.
16:10Eva, Merry Christmas Eve.
16:12I thought you were coming with Dad.
16:14Oh, I told him I would meet him here.
16:16I didn't mind showing up alone once I found out Kat.
16:18It wouldn't be here.
16:19And where do you get that idea?
16:23Of all the people in this town,
16:26Barbara's daughter saw us together?
16:29And she's convinced we're having an affair.
16:32What did you say to her?
16:34Nothing.
16:35That woman's a troublemaker.
16:37I wasn't about to dignify her accusations with a response.
16:41What if she tells Anita?
16:43She claimed that she can keep it quiet for now.
16:47But can you trust her?
16:49Oh, hell no.
16:50But at this point, I don't have much of a choice.
16:53So, Sharon, what do you think?
16:55Maybe we should leave Vernon's house.
16:57He's probably got a ton to do.
16:58You are welcome to stay until Anita gets back from the doctor.
17:04No, we've got to get going.
17:06We'll talk to Anita later.
17:07Bye, Vernon.
17:08Ladies?
17:11Going forward, I recommend you bringing a support person with you to all your appointments.
17:16That way they can take notes and ask questions,
17:18and that'll allow you to focus solely on processing what's happening in the moment.
17:22A support person.
17:25Talk to Vernon.
17:28I will take that under advisement.
17:30You have every right to feel overwhelmed.
17:33I just dropped a bomb in your life and flooded you with facts.
17:38Do you have any questions for me right now that I can answer for you?
17:41Not at the moment, but I'm sure I will.
17:45Actually.
17:46Actually.
17:46May I have a moment alone?
17:54Of course.
17:55But just a reminder, as you mull all this over, we're going to have to act quickly to begin treatment.
18:03Yeah, absolutely.
18:04Let's have at it.
18:07All right.
18:08I'll go get things started.
18:09I'll go get things started.
18:16Did Chelsea give a reason?
18:28She just said she and Madison can't make it.
18:30Oh, that's too bad.
18:31I really want her to catch up with them.
18:32And Kat seems to be a no-show as well.
18:34Well, we'll just have to celebrate enough for everybody.
18:38We may only be four people, but we're about to be the four best tree trimmers in all of Fairmont Crest.
18:43So grab some ornaments and let's get busy!
18:48Ah, talk to Auntie Nicole.
18:49Tell me what's happening between you and Jacob.
18:51Can't be that bad, can it?
18:53I guess not.
18:54See?
18:55We're already making progress.
18:56It's worse.
18:57What on earth happened?
18:59I can tell you what happened.
19:01We're all ears, son-in-law.
19:03Yeah, go ahead.
19:04Tell them.
19:05First of all, Naomi snooped through my things and found her Christmas gift.
19:08I was looking for a shoehorn, okay?
19:10It was an accident.
19:11A shoehorn.
19:12Sweetheart, I'm not buying it.
19:14But even if Naomi accidentally saw her Christmas gift, why is she mad?
19:19Because it sucks.
19:21He put zero thought into it, not to mention it's ugly.
19:24Is it?
19:25No, it's not.
19:26Here, I'll let you all be the judge.
19:30What the heck is that?
19:32This is a chenquito.
19:35Chenquito?
19:35Yeah, it's a Mexican monkey hat that sprays water.
19:38Here, I'll show you.
19:39Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
19:40Don't you dare.
19:41Not here.
19:41Not tonight.
19:42In fact, not ever.
19:43Oh, come on.
19:44It's interesting.
19:44And it's cute, right?
19:45Nah, it's pretty ugly.
19:48Aunt Nicole?
19:49Interesting question.
19:50Why do you ask?
19:51That means she hates it in shrink top.
19:53Andre?
19:54Mm-mm.
19:55Bro code.
19:56I'm neutral.
19:57Shouldn't we give Jacob the benefit of the doubt?
20:00It's unusual, but isn't it the thought behind the gift that matters?
20:04Well, that's exactly my point.
20:06I put so much thought into his gift, but that thing?
20:09Listen, when I'm trying to rock a hat, I'm aiming for Aretha at the inauguration,
20:13not some tacky novelty monkey.
20:15And you should know that by now.
20:19I just thought you want a souvenir.
20:21A souvenir of what?
20:23The Christmas I sprayed water on my family and pissed them off?
20:26Of Mexico City.
20:27This hat is one of the most popular souvenirs for tourists,
20:30and he's just a messenger.
20:32Messenger?
20:32What?
20:33Yeah.
20:35I got you a Mexican vacation.
20:38Surprise?
20:41Merry Christmas Eve.
20:43Thank you so much.
20:44You just slide him under the tree.
20:47Oh, Smitty.
20:48I fasted for two days just so that I could have some of your fantastic eggnog.
20:53Help yourself.
20:54And Eva, please do not wait to be asked.
20:58Make yourself at home.
20:59Thanks, Smitty.
21:00And I don't think you've actually met June, the kid's mother.
21:03June, this is my sister Kat.
21:05Hello, Kat.
21:06You are very beautiful.
21:08Thanks.
21:08I've seen you around Orphegene's.
21:10Nice to meet you.
21:13Officially.
21:15Sis, I'm a little confused.
21:17I thought you were going to Aunt Danny's.
21:19Oh, I'll get there.
21:20But I had to drop by to see my niece and nephew.
21:25I'm so excited about your cotillion.
21:27I love mine.
21:28What was that like?
21:30It was like real-life fairytale, but with better lighting.
21:34Show up and slay?
21:36Well, I'm not going to lie.
21:38There is work involved.
21:40Rehearsals, dances to learn, posture to perfect, etiquette boot camp.
21:44But you get to pick your gown and your shoes and your escort.
21:51Lots of prep, but it's a dream.
21:55Hi, everybody.
21:57Hey, Kat.
21:58What a terrific surprise.
22:01I'll bet.
22:01Don't worry.
22:02I'm not staying long.
22:03Oh, well, glad I got to see you.
22:06So, what are your Christmas plans?
22:08Oh, simple.
22:09I'm going to sit around and watch football.
22:12Okay, I'll give you a call.
22:14Okay, Louise.
22:16I have to tell you about the mission.
22:18I'll go get you back.
22:21Eva, I am sorry.
22:23I didn't know Kat was going to be here.
22:27No worries.
22:28If I can't be in the same room with my half-sister,
22:31who totally hates my guts on Christmas Eve, when can I?
22:36Dad, that was supposed to be a joke.
22:39Oh, you know.
22:40Everything okay?
22:41Yeah, first Christmas without the usual rituals.
22:45What a good night.
22:46Oh, I'm sorry.
22:46Oh, I'm sorry.
22:49Amen.
23:19Triple negative breast cancer. Very aggressive. Black women are twice as likely to be diagnosed
23:29with this type of breast cancer. It can be difficult to treat.
23:37Seth, we got your call.
23:40Is it cancer?
23:49I won't tell you I'm not scared. But not just for myself, for my family.
24:01How am I supposed to tell Vernon? And my girls? And my grandkids?
24:07How else? But with your usual strength and grace.
24:12And of course, we'll be with you right by your side every step of the way.
24:16I am so sorry for assuming the worst. Truth is, I think I was so upset because we've been
24:32in therapy, working on our issues, getting to know each other again. I thought we were
24:38making progress, and then I found that thing. And I thought, maybe it's not working. Maybe
24:44he doesn't know me at all. Maybe I'm not communicating as well as I thought I was.
24:49Babe, you just did what you do. You analyze, you theorize, and you form an argument.
24:53Hmm. Yeah. That is what I do, and it's exhausting.
24:57Which is why you need a vacation. So, Mexico, here we come.
25:03Ooh, Jacob, that is so thoughtful. I've been saying I want to go to Mexico.
25:07Exactly.
25:08And you clearly were listening. I just didn't realize it.
25:13Give me that thing.
25:16That's kind of cute. Right?
25:18Yeah.
25:20Hello, I'm here.
25:22Hi.
25:23What's up, Jess?
25:23What's up, Jess?
25:25What is that horrible looking thing?
25:27No bloodshed, no eggnog thrown. We can count that as a win for my two sisters.
25:39I'm glad to see you and your family all so happy.
25:43Me too. It's been a rough year, but we got through it.
25:48You know my biggest regret? Not telling Smitty my secret after so long.
25:53You are preaching to the choir, son. Wish I'd come plain to Nicole sooner.
26:01But you and Mom seem to be in a good place.
26:04We are. Even though she seemed to have taken a shine to Carlton.
26:11One step at a time, Dad. We can focus on the fact that you and Mom are getting along.
26:16We can't go back to the past, but at least you can be honest with her from now on.
26:21How much sage advice. Thank you for that.
26:27Hi, guys. I hate to cut this short, but I need to head home and wrap some gifts before tomorrow.
26:34I need to get going, too. I'll walk you out.
26:36Okay.
26:37Hey, everybody. June, it was great to see you.
26:41Eva and I need to get going.
26:43Don't stop what you're doing, guys. The tree looks fantastic.
26:46Bye, Grandpa. Bye, Kika.
26:50It's good to see you, Ted.
26:51And you, too, Eva.
26:53Bye.
26:54Bye, y'all.
26:54Bye.
26:55Merry Christmas.
26:56Merry Christmas.
26:59I'm not sure I've seen a better decorated tree.
27:04I've got an empty spot right here.
27:07Oh, I'll get it.
27:10Look at your ginger brand, man.
27:12My cyclone.
27:15Did you make this?
27:16I have a surprise.
27:21I wanted the entire family to be over for Christmas tree trimming, so I reached out and invited Regina.
27:33Sister!
27:36Come here!
27:37Oh, Samantha, Tyrell, you probably don't remember, but this is my sister.
27:44Auntie Gigi.
27:47You remember me?
27:49After you'd take us to church, I'd crawl and see your lap, you'd read me a story, and I'd fall asleep.
27:55You sure would.
27:57And I'd sit there and stroke your hair.
28:00You are not so little anymore.
28:03And Tyrell, I play checkers with you.
28:05I remember that.
28:06You would never let me win.
28:07I hear that was a good thing.
28:12I prayed this day would come that I hold you sweet babies in my arms again.
28:24Thank you so much for making this happen.
28:28Well, Madison got called into the hospital, you know, the holidays, some of the doctors' busiest times.
28:36And although my job isn't saving lives like hers, I still had a lot to do.
28:41And maybe fashion is saving jobs and helping someone's self-esteem.
28:44Never apologize for what you've chosen to care about.
28:47Well said, sissy.
28:48Chels?
28:49Help me with these?
28:50After you just doused me?
28:53Uh-oh, I know that look.
28:54We all know that look.
28:56Forget everything I texted you.
29:02Oh, about whatever that thing was on your head that Jacob got you for Christmas?
29:05Turns out it was a preamble to...
29:08He's taking me on a trip to Mexico.
29:11Oh, well done, bro-in-law.
29:13So why are you busting out the cascade?
29:15Let's get back to the party and celebrate.
29:17Well, Mom did the most, so the least we can do is help her avoid dish dread.
29:22You know, the moment when everybody leaves the party and the host is left with nothing but great memories and a mountain of dishes.
29:28Yeah, I hate that.
29:29And it looks like Mom is going to need a lifeline.
29:32Getting this stuff cleaned by hand is impossible.
29:34Been there, broke nails.
29:35Please.
29:36This tray's only shot is the hot steaming water from there and Cascade Platinum Plus.
29:40Does anyone know where Cat is?
29:45No.
29:46Actually, I'm here.
29:48What in the world is that horrible thing?
29:53Oh, I wouldn't if I were you.
29:55Cat has anger issues.
29:56My hair, she likes to break things.
29:58Sweetie, we are so glad you're here.
30:00I was hoping you'd bring Tomas along.
30:02I was hoping I would too, but he has to work.
30:04Typical Bill Hamill, Scrooge.
30:07Well, the tree's almost done, but you're just in time to help with the star on top.
30:12Really?
30:12Yeah.
30:15Aw.
30:17Here you are.
30:19Careful.
30:20Yeah, okay, okay.
30:28Yay!
30:29How you doing, Cat?
30:30When Tiny Samantha climbed up on Lil' Tyrell's shoulder, she still couldn't reach the top
30:37of the tree and ended up pulling it down on themselves.
30:42They looked at me as if I was going to yell at them, but all I could do was laugh.
30:49It's getting late.
30:50I better get going.
30:51I like to hell-five the church on Christmas mornings.
30:55I do hope I'll get to spend more time with you in the future.
30:58That'd be cool.
30:59Could you stay for a couple more minutes?
31:02You need to put some finishing touches on the tree.
31:04As long as you don't pull it over.
31:12It only feels right that you should add it to the tree.
31:17Because for so many years, you were our angel watching over us.
31:24This has been wonderful.
31:52We're so glad you could join us.
31:55We'll have to do it again next year.
31:59Jim, why don't you spend tonight and Christmas Day with me?
32:04I'd love that.
32:06We'll walk you out.
32:07All those years ago, you made the right decision.
32:24Merry Christmas.
32:25Merry Christmas.
32:26The tree is beautiful.
32:31Look at the kids' ornaments.
32:34I can't believe how much Samantha and Tyrone went through before we adopted them.
32:40Those two are so resilient.
32:44Despite everything that they've been through, they still survive.
32:49That monkey thing on Naomi's head?
33:02Absolutely priceless.
33:04I don't know how you get people at exactly the right time.
33:09There's a bit of an element of surprise to it.
33:11And what surprise do you have in store for me?
33:17You impatient woman, you man.
33:20But too bad.
33:21You're going to have to wait for your gift on Christmas.
33:24But I do have one thing that I can give you now.
33:26What's that?
33:29Pow.
33:30You know what that is, right?
33:32Mistletoe.
33:33And I know what it's for.
33:35Two.
33:36Ted, you surprised me.
33:47What's going on?
33:48Well, I'm glad you're home.
33:49I was about to leave a note.
33:51What is it?
33:52Is everything okay?
33:53Kat said she saw you at Martin's.
33:55Did something happen?
33:55Everything is fine with him.
33:58Great.
33:58I look forward to seeing them tomorrow.
34:00So, what's up?
34:01Uh, this isn't easy, and I vacillated about telling you.
34:07But I don't want to keep any more secrets.
34:11What kind of secrets?
34:13It's about your dad.
34:14Yeah.
34:17Vernon's having an affair.
34:21Anita is one of the strongest women I know.
34:25She'll get them this.
34:27I pray that's true.
34:28And now that we have a moment alone, I want to know what's going on between you and Vernon.
34:35And don't lie.
34:37I want the truth.
34:42Okay.
34:44I'll tell you.
34:46So, what did the doctor say?
34:50Sharon and Tracy were here.
34:52They told me you were at the hospital getting the results of a hearing test.
34:58I saw right through their charade.
35:00I know they were covering for what you were really up to.
35:03Which was?
35:05Finding the perfect Christmas gift for me.
35:11Come sit with me, sweetheart.
35:24What is it, darling?
35:25Darling.
35:28Vernon.
35:30Vernon.
35:32I have bad news.
35:33I have bad news.
35:35I have bad news.
35:37I have bad news.
