Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has praised the strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Russia during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

Speaking at the traditional pre-New Year talks, Tokayev emphasized that cooperation between the two nations aligns with the fundamental interests of their peoples. He stated, “Nature itself suggests that we should be together on all issues concerning the everyday life of the citizens of Kazakhstan, and I believe, of Russia too.”

The leaders discussed bilateral relations, collaboration within the CIS and CSTO frameworks, and future plans to strengthen economic and political ties. Putin confirmed a positive trajectory in Kazakhstan-Russia relations and reaffirmed commitment to ongoing cooperation.
