00:00Notre Dame dropped 56 points on Purdue,
00:12and while the Irish offense looks electric,
00:14the defense is still a major concern.
00:18The alarming thing for me is this is the stuff
00:21that the nine months of the offseason are for.
00:24I don't think those are in-season fixes.
00:26These seem like schematic issues.
00:27Arkansas is going to be a real test.
00:34A couple things I wrote down.
00:36Details matter in everything we do.
00:39We know it. We're here every day.
00:41We know the good, the bad, the issues.
00:46So we got to attack them and fix it.
00:47We better stay together.
00:49That's the thing that will make this thing crumble.
00:53That's the thing that would never wavered
00:55in my first four years here,
00:56the belief.
00:58The belief in each other
00:59and the belief in what we're doing.
01:01If we allow that to happen, watch out.
01:03I have no answer.
01:04But you know I'll run to the fire.
01:08Coming into this season,
01:09we know it's a target on our backs,
01:11you know, bigger than ever.
01:12It's Notre Dame,
01:13so every game is the other team's Super Bowl,
01:16but this year it's a little different.
01:17The target is bigger.
01:19And you know every week
01:20we're going to have to come with our best.
01:22I need you guys to do this.
01:25I don't care if it's defense versus freedom.
01:27I need you to do this.
01:28I'd rather you all hate me,
01:31which ain't going to happen,
01:33than to spread apart.
01:35I learned through experience.
01:36I've been through the fire with you, bro.
01:38I know it.
01:40We're going to see if everybody's going to fight.
01:42All right?
01:43Because if you're not,
01:43you're going to get exposed around here.
01:45You'll stick out bad.
01:46I don't care if you're a coach or a player.
01:47You make excuses,
01:48you'll stick out through preparation.
01:49That's how you're going to change it.
01:51We're going to prepare.
01:52But you stay there.
01:54This, man, that's what matters.
01:56Yeah.
01:57This.
01:58I mean, nothing more important to me than that.
02:00Cool?
02:01All right, we got to go.
02:06For the first time in program history,
02:10Notre Dame has made the trip to Arkansas,
02:14where they have a date with the Razorbacks this morning.
02:19The loser today is not going to be in a good spot.
02:22I always say, man, in order to win the moment,
02:24you must be in the moment.
02:26Right?
02:26You can't win this moment if your mind's somewhere else.
02:29Be right here.
02:31Let the past go.
02:32I always remind you that.
02:33There's something better ahead of us.
02:38The atmosphere of just any road game,
02:41especially one on college campus,
02:42is different.
02:44Especially in the SEC.
02:45There's a big energy, too,
02:49and it's fun to be a part of.
02:51Second and goal.
02:52Carr takes the shotgun snap,
02:54looking to throw.
02:54To Love, catches line of scrimmage,
02:56screams out of a tackle at the five,
02:57and he walks in!
02:59What a move by Love!
03:01Busts a pair of ankles,
03:03and the Irish have their second touchdown of the game.
03:07That boy's a bad boy.
03:08He is a bad boy.
03:10Hey, hey, really?
03:12Really?
03:13Really?
03:14Really?
03:14Carr between the hashes,
03:16claps for the football and wants to throw.
03:17Looking left,
03:18now scanning back over the middle,
03:19has Pauling at the five,
03:21catches,
03:21and walks in untouched!
03:23And Will Pauling has his first touchdown with Notre Dame.
03:27Coming out and punching people in the mouth
03:29is like the statement we gotta make.
03:31Back against the wall,
03:32it's playoffs here from now on.
03:34Left to Love,
03:35he's got a catch and a convoy,
03:37cuts inside of a ten,
03:38here comes the speed,
03:39and Love's in!
03:40Touchdown,
03:41Notre Dame!
03:43Hands it off to Love,
03:44makes one man miss,
03:45stays on his feet,
03:46for the goal line,
03:47he's in again!
03:48His fourth of the day!
03:52One goal in every single game
03:53as we were still hungry and humble.
03:55Swings it out to Price,
03:56who catches it at the 40,
03:57down at the 25,
03:58breaks the tackle,
03:58inside the 20,
03:59he's gonna do it!
04:00He's in!
04:01Another touchdown!
04:03And the route is on in Arkansas!
04:06It doesn't matter to the opponent,
04:09we're coming out here
04:09to prove that we're one of the best teams in the country
04:11and should be in the fight to the very end.
04:13And the Irish come on the road
04:15into SEC country
04:18and lay the smack down on Arkansas.
04:22That's the kind of victory
04:23that can get you back on track.
04:24Fight!
04:25Go, Irish!
04:26This is just a small example
04:28of how good this team could be.
04:29Mm-hmm.
04:30We just,
04:31it's just a taste, man.
04:32It's just a taste,
04:33but we gotta commit
04:34to continue to do the things
04:36it takes to elevate.
04:37One, two, three!
04:38Here come the Irish!
04:39Hell yeah!
04:40Here come the Irish!
04:41Let's go!
04:42Let's go!
04:42Yeah!
05:00I love sometimes to be doubted.
05:03You never want to be behind the sticks.
05:09You never want to be 0-2 to start the season,
05:11but competitors love to compete.
05:18When our backs are against the wall,
05:20it's time to go fight.
05:22And I always say there's two options,
05:24fight or flight,
05:25and they know which option
05:26their head coach is going to take.
05:28All right, boys.
05:28Let's roll!
05:29Let's roll, man.
05:37Let's roll.
05:37All right?
05:38A little bit of Arkansas recap.
05:39All right?
05:40Team glory, man.
05:41Hell of a job, huh?
05:43Hell of a job.
05:44All right?
05:46You know,
05:47the discomfort,
05:49especially for the defense last week,
05:51right,
05:52is there to help you grow.
05:53It's pain.
05:55It's uncomfortable, right?
05:57It's there to help you grow,
05:58to make the pain go away.
06:01Well,
06:01we can't lose that.
06:04That's why it's so much harder,
06:06in my opinion,
06:07to handle success.
06:09It's harder to handle success and adversity,
06:11because you wouldn't be here
06:12if you weren't a fighter.
06:14You wouldn't be here.
06:15It's too hard to get to this level.
06:18But when you have success,
06:20you lose that discomfort.
06:23Everybody feels good.
06:26Right?
06:26Everybody,
06:27it feels good to win.
06:28It should,
06:29because you guys work really hard.
06:31But you lose that just natural discomfort
06:34that gives you that fight-or-flight mentality,
06:37that gives you that motivation to go to work.
06:40So,
06:41keep the pain.
06:42Know how we felt
06:43being 0-2 sitting in this room.
06:46Know how we felt,
06:47right?
06:48But it's not always that fear,
06:50right?
06:50I always remind you,
06:51keep the pain.
06:52Right?
06:53Because that will scare us away
06:55from feeling too good.
06:56We know we're not there yet.
06:58We're not there yet.
06:59We got ways to go.
07:01Those bumps,
07:01it might be a little bit smaller right now,
07:02but we got need,
07:03because we got room to grow.
07:05Everybody good?
07:05Let's go to work.
07:06TGS on two.
07:07One, two.
07:07TGS.
07:11Ready?
07:11Have a good day.
07:12All right.
07:13Come on, boy.
07:14Let's go to work.
07:15Do you hear me?
07:15Come on.
07:16Everything matters.
07:18Rob, have a good day.
07:19All right?
07:24The last few weeks,
07:25we've been playing a lot of good football
07:27offensively,
07:28so I think we just got to
07:29keep this thing rolling.
07:30I think you can't take any opponent lightly.
07:32Let's go.
07:32Game reps.
07:33Game reps.
07:33Game reps.
07:34Attack them.
07:34Attack them.
07:35Attack them.
07:35Good.
07:36Anytime a team gets to come in to Notre Dame
07:38and play us here at our home field,
07:40it's their Super Bowl extension.
07:42We're going to get their best shot.
07:45This is our game reps, man.
07:47We ain't getting many game reps.
07:48This is game reps.
07:49Let's go, baby.
07:53Good.
07:58Yes, sir.
07:58This wide receiver room that we have
08:09is really special, man.
08:10It's really fun to work with them.
08:12You got a room full of guys
08:13that are really, really hungry.
08:15Oh, we got to have this one now.
08:17They make my job so much easier.
08:21Just keep a little bit of depth
08:23on your motion.
08:24The way JG and Faison ended the year last year
08:28was something that is really exciting.
08:32And then we got transfers coming in here
08:33with Will Pauling, Malachi Fields.
08:37Dangerous.
08:38That's the right word for them, is dangerous.
08:42Taking inside release, first press.
08:46My freshman year, I early enrolled at Cincinnati,
08:48so I was there for my freshman year
08:50and my sophomore year.
08:51At the end of 2022, I transferred to Wisconsin.
08:53I played two years there.
08:55And now I'm going into my fifth year
08:57of transfer here in the beginning of 2025.
08:59So now I'm on my fifth year.
09:00Every single time, think about
09:01getting to the near point.
09:02I knew that Will would be a great addition
09:05to our room just because
09:06not only is he a really good football player,
09:08but more importantly, man, he's a great leader.
09:13Everything's just different here.
09:13The people are different.
09:16Being here has been a blessing for me
09:18in so many different ways.
09:20All right, man, let's pray it up.
09:22Dear Lord, I just want to thank you.
09:23Thank you for waking us up this morning,
09:25giving us the chance to get better each day
09:27and be with our brothers while playing the sport we love.
09:30In Jesus' name we pray.
09:31Amen.
09:32Amen.
09:32Appreciate you, Matt.
09:34Hydrate, eat, rest, recover, repeat.
09:37TDS on two, one, two.
09:38TDS.
09:39All right.
09:52All right.
09:52So there is meatballs, and a couple of them in here,
09:54some shrimp, and then this is all, like, bread.
10:10Mm, mm, mm.
10:11It ain't my bad, J.G., man.
10:16I feel bad calling you this morning, man.
10:19What happened?
10:19Nah, I wasn't there.
10:21I had to call him.
10:22That was a question.
10:23Oh, my gosh.
10:24He's like, so idiots?
10:25Yeah, I was about to do it.
10:26It was like 9 o'clock.
10:28I'm like, all right, everybody probably awake.
10:30It's 9, you know?
10:32When you said that, it mean, like, 9 is, like, late for you?
10:35Late.
10:36Like, nah, bro.
10:37I don't even think I could sleep till 9.
10:39Having all the receivers over to my personal home
10:43is really important.
10:44I think it's important for us to bond.
10:46I think it's important for the guys to see me
10:49outside of just being Coach Brown.
10:51So you're getting ready for that real room.
10:54I've been on LinkedIn, Gav.
10:55I've been on LinkedIn like crazy.
10:57Dude, you're almost there, bro.
10:58I've been on this connection, bro.
10:59I'm on LinkedIn like crazy.
11:01I've known Will Pauling since he was about 16 years old.
11:05We started recruiting him.
11:06I first saw him at a camp up at North Central College.
11:10I was at the University of Cincinnati at that time.
11:12Will you play quarterback?
11:13Yeah, all the way growing up, yeah.
11:15I had to receive it to my sophomore year, high school.
11:18I played three shades my freshman year.
11:20Who was that?
11:20Who was that?
11:21Oh, my God.
11:23Oh, my God.
11:24It's bad.
11:25It's bad.
11:26It's like, ooh.
11:27Bro.
11:28Bro.
11:29We're about to run these cards, man.
11:31Y'all ever play What Do You Mean?
11:33Yeah, Will and I, we've gotten pretty close off the field.
11:36He's been around, you know, my family, and we built a great relationship with the whole
11:41Pauling family.
11:42So it's been really, really fun just kind of reuniting with him here at Notre Dame.
11:46Wait, do I pick, do I get a new one now that I, since I lost one?
11:49Or do I, do we pick a new one every round?
11:50Well, you have to be funny because being hot isn't an option.
11:54Yeah.
11:54Coach Brown's somebody that I really look up to and that I admire, and I think something
12:00that kind of stands out to me even more now is like, he's not even, he's more like family
12:05to me than a coach now just because we've known each other for so long, and I think it
12:08goes so much further past football.
12:09When you stage an elaborate promposal in front of the whole school and she says no.
12:18You know, rarely do we ever talk about football or anything like that.
12:22It's all about what's going on in their lives or, you know, there's some type of competitive
12:26juices that get flowing in some kind of, some way, form, or fashion.
12:29So it's always fun to see those guys kind of in their element and seeing how they interact
12:33with each other, you know, outside of the football field is always really fun.
12:36When you walk into your emo child's room and they're throwing darts at the family photo.
12:41Oh, my God.
12:47Sir.
12:48That's a good one.
12:49Life's changed a lot since my football school, being married.
13:16Our wedding was May 25th, Sunday, Memorial Day weekend.
13:26I picked the easiest date that he could remember, 5-25-25.
13:30Yeah.
13:30During our vows, they were like, is Eli going to cry?
13:33All my bridesmaids were asking that.
13:35I'm like, honestly, I don't think so.
13:36I think he's sort of just going to, like, freeze.
13:39I was extremely nervous.
13:40I'm kind of used to playing in front of a lot of people now, but the wedding day was
13:45a bigger deal.
13:47The attention's solely on you rather than a team.
13:52He has Raritan.
13:53Connects with him at the 5.
13:55And there's nobody in front of him.
13:58Eli Raritan walks in for another Irish touchdown.
14:01It's extremely meaningful to play here.
14:08It's been a lifelong dream.
14:11Raritan's there.
14:12Back left corner.
14:13He caught it.
14:14Diving catch is made by Eli Raritan.
14:17Touchdown, Notre Dame.
14:21I definitely try to remind myself that, you know, this is everything I've ever wanted
14:25since being a young kid.
14:28My dad played here from 2002 to 2006.
14:37Had me in 2004.
14:39My mom was still in high school.
14:41She packed her bags, brought me along.
14:43We moved to South Bend, and I lived here for the first two years of my life.
14:48I've heard stories.
14:49My dad bringing me in the Goog and hanging out and all that.
14:52It's part of my blood.
14:54My grandpa coached here.
14:55My great uncle went here.
14:57It's super cool that it's come full circle, you know.
15:01As a kid, I always would pray to be tall enough to play college football, be big enough to
15:06be an Notre Dame football player.
15:08I remember Scott being a young dad and having a son and just kind of lost track of it after
15:14a while.
15:15You didn't think, okay, who is that son going to turn into down the road?
15:19And he's turned into a pretty good tight end.
15:23My dad's honestly kind of quiet, but he's such an awesome example to look at as a husband
15:28and the way he approaches life, the way he's treated my mom, the way he handled being a
15:34young husband and young parent.
15:36I really look up to, and it's a big reason why I got married young.
15:40It really inspired me to, you know, follow in his footsteps.
15:45I think it's really cool.
15:46Like, when his family comes, it's like a full circle moment.
15:49They're like, this is where we used to live, and like, this is what we would do.
15:54I was sent a couple pictures from when I was a baby, and one of them was me waiting on the
15:59walk, waiting to see my dad.
16:00And so we kind of put that two together, like, now I'm the one walking, seeing my dad.
16:07It's kind of cool.
16:12There it is.
16:13Let's go.
16:14Good to see you guys.
16:21Right now, I have the honor to introduce somebody very special to me.
16:25The doctor, founder, and executive director of where we are today, the Black Student Athletes
16:32Summit.
16:33Can you guys put your hands together and make some noise for Dr. Leonard Moore?
16:39Good morning, everybody.
16:40You doing okay?
16:42Things you need to know about me.
16:43Number one, I'm married to an amazing woman right here, Thais Bass Moore.
16:47Been married 24 years.
16:48Three kids.
16:49Jacqueline, that's my oldest.
16:50That's my mini-me.
16:52You know, she's just finished at North Texas.
16:54That's Lauren.
16:55She's at Jackson State, my alma mater.
16:57And that's my son, Leonard.
16:58He's at Notre Dame.
17:00The Black Student Athletes Summit is pretty much something that my dad started with a group
17:04of his colleagues at the University of Texas.
17:07And initially, it started just to, you know, provide more opportunities for these black
17:10athletes that might have needed some help in the professional field.
17:14But now it's grown.
17:15It started with, like, 70, and they've grown into, like, over 1,000 athletes.
17:18So it's a beautiful weekend to go see people that look like you but are in professional
17:22positions and who can help you.
17:24It's where you actually want to be in life.
17:27All right.
17:27I want y'all to look at this right quick.
17:28We're going to spend a little bit of time here.
17:30This is my high school transcript.
17:32Student-athletes in general, but black student-athletes more specifically are, nobody expects anything
17:37from them in the classroom.
17:38Zero.
17:38You know, I think athletes are super-duper smart.
17:41I finished 535 out of 633 in my graduating class.
17:46Are y'all like, what?
17:47Yes.
17:48Finished with a GPA of 1.683.
17:51These guys can go on the field and execute these plays at a high level in front of 100,000
17:56people watching, in front of millions watching on TV, and they perform flawlessly.
18:01So the question is, if you can do that against Alabama or Georgia or against Texas, why can't
18:07you do it in an econ class or chemistry class?
18:09The only academic course I got higher than a C in was African American history.
18:13Because I knew at 12 or 13, that's the only thing I really loved.
18:18The part that I love about it is how they help with the mental health of the student.
18:23Because I feel like so often that's overlooked because the student feels like they're this
18:27grand person on campus.
18:29Everybody either looks up to them or looks down on them because they're the athlete.
18:33Y'all are gifted.
18:34Y'all are talented.
18:36But here, they're loved on.
18:39Their worries and the pressures that they have to deal with, they can share them.
18:41And I just want to encourage you, the journey is great.
18:45We started this off with 70 people, but we didn't care about numbers.
18:48We cared about the quality of the experience because we had a crazy idea that we could make
18:53this thing happen.
18:55I think it's cool for the athletes as well.
18:56It's cool for my dad because, like, he's been helping all these other people with there
19:01and all these other athletes.
19:02But I think it's cool for him to see his son finally get to that stage.
19:06It's just so wonderful how the two things collided, the Black Student Athlete Summit along
19:11with my son's career.
19:14He's been at the summit his whole life.
19:17Say, I am.
19:18I am.
19:19Leonard Moore.
19:20Leonard Moore.
19:21I am.
19:22I am.
19:22A strong man.
19:24A strong man.
19:25All right.
19:27He was an easy child to raise.
19:31Very wise.
19:33He just wanted to play.
19:37You're going to break the door.
19:38He's a low-key guy.
19:39Me and him are different.
19:40I'm kind of intense.
19:42It's this quietness that he has.
19:44He observes a lot, but he handles business.
19:47What makes Leonard Moore, I mean, the best DB in the nation, just different.
19:53His mindset is different.
19:55His body is different.
19:56Everything is different about the kid.
19:57He's only scratching the surface.
20:01Like, he's only going to continue to get better and continue to grow and become really the
20:06best corner in the country.
20:08Last year, at the Louisville game, when he ran down Tyler Shook.
20:13First down and ten from a seven.
20:14It's a run play.
20:15Blown up.
20:16No, it's a fake.
20:17Shook faked it in the backfield.
20:19And he's on the run.
20:20I was sitting next to my wife, and I said, did your son just do that?
20:32And Notre Dame takes over.
20:35That's when me and my wife said, okay, we think he's ready for the moment and whatever
20:38the rest of the season brings.
20:40He's very mature for his age.
20:42He is very instinctual on the field and understands what's about to happen to him.
20:47They're going to throw it on second down, down the sideline.
20:50It's intercepted!
20:51Who else but Leonard Moore?
20:54The star sophomore with another takeaway.
20:58He's just a special person all around.
21:02He's been raised with confidence, competitiveness.
21:10I'd say from the beginning, he's loved football.
21:13He played on the flag football team when he was, like, three, and he gave it his all.
21:24I remember, man, just on Saturday mornings, how excited I would be, my wife would be, he
21:29would be.
21:31He wanted to win, and he wanted to compete.
21:32Oh, okay.
21:40He's good.
21:41Like, he has, there's something here.
21:45You wanted him to be able to live a normal life and not make him feel like something's
21:49wrong with him.
21:50When he was about three years old, he was at daycare.
22:02So we got a call that he fell out on the floor.
22:05He started shaking and rattling.
22:07He went unconscious.
22:09And she said, okay, something happened.
22:11I mean, she said, Leonard's breathing.
22:12He's still not okay, but he's breathing.
22:14And so that was the first sign we knew anything was wrong.
22:20We went to the pediatrician, and then we referred to the neurologist.
22:24Test results finally came back with abnormal electric activity on the left side of his brain.
22:30And that's when they said, this is epilepsy.
22:39They didn't tell me a lot, to be honest.
22:41I think that's how they helped me navigate through it.
22:43They told me, obviously, like, that I was having seizures and stuff like that, but they
22:47always made sure I felt like, I don't know, I wasn't different than nobody else, and that
22:52there was nothing really wrong with me.
22:55There's nothing he could do about it, you know?
22:58It wasn't something he could control.
23:01He starts seizing, which means, like, he goes unconscious.
23:05He starts shaking, his eyes are rolling back in his head, and the thing was, if he seized
23:13over 45 minutes, they told us that he could be brain dead.
23:17It is the worst possible thing you could watch.
23:25One night, me and my wife, we were in the bed, and I started hearing, like, a quack sound,
23:31like a dolphin, like, what is that?
23:32And it was him making a noise, and it just freaks you out.
23:37It looks like somebody is physically about to die.
23:42It was probably, like, 1 a.m.
23:44My girls, you know, they're in the bed next to him, and they're looking down and crying,
23:49and it takes a minute for the ambulance to get there.
23:53They inserted medications into his rectum, and it didn't stop the seizure.
23:58And normally, that will stop it, but it didn't stop this one, so they went ahead and put
24:02him in the emergency vehicle.
24:04It's like a 30-minute drive.
24:08He sees the whole way to the hospital.
24:12They rush him into this room, and they kind of shut the curtain in front of us because
24:17they didn't want us to see.
24:19And it's like, what are they doing to our son?
24:21And will our son be the Leonard that we know when they come here to get us?
24:27So he sees probably, like, an hour and a half, and just that fear of, like,
24:33sorry.
24:40So we're just praying that whole time, and then he came out of it.
24:44When I wake up in the hospital, I know, obviously, sometimes I will feel bad for the stuff my
24:51family have to see because I don't want them to have to worry about me.
24:54I think that was just scary for them to see.
24:56Forgot all their names, stuff like that.
24:58Didn't know who I was.
24:59It puts, man, a lot of stuff in perspective when you see your son in that situation.
25:06You know, it's agonizing to watch.
25:09And I think any parent, you know, seeing a son or daughter go through that, be like, you
25:14know, God, let that happen to me.
25:16Let them be okay.
25:17You know, you have to really enjoy every moment that you have, because you never know when
25:25it's going to be the last.
25:27After several seizures and after doing the EKGs and them diagnosing him with epilepsy,
25:34they put him on the medication.
25:36And then over some time, they recognized there was no more abnormal brain activity in his
25:41left side.
25:42And they said, I think he's grown out of it.
25:45I honestly don't really worry that something could happen.
25:49I've been told that there's risks based on how much sugar I eat or something like that,
25:53if that I could come back.
25:55But I think I'm able to live, like, carefree.
25:58Not carefree, but just not worried about that stuff.
26:01And then over time when, like, maybe even a year or two, when you saw that he was fine,
26:07then you could kind of, like, breathe a little bit.
26:10Um, and so I did.
26:16I started breathing and trusting that he was okay.
26:20You ready to kill it?
26:22Yeah, I got to.
26:23They got, like, fast receivers in the slide.
26:24So they try to give him the ball quick.
26:26Yeah.
26:26And make you miss.
26:27Ah, okay.
26:28He still plays football, and, you know, as a mother, you're just, like, concerned, and,
26:36you know, he's done with seizures.
26:39But at the same time, like, you never want something to reactivate it.
26:43Looking forward to tomorrow's game, man.
26:45The seizures created a fear around him losing his life.
26:49Oh, you're excited, ain't you, man?
26:52Do your thing tomorrow, man.
26:53Do your thing, man.
26:56Proud of you.
26:56Appreciate it.
26:57So to see him where he is now, it's like all of that stuff couldn't stop him.
27:01It tried.
27:02But he is fulfilling his purpose, and he will continue to do that, and we will just continue
27:08to trust that he's in God's hands.
27:11Heavenly Father, Lord, we thank you for Liam.
27:13We thank you for the young man he's become.
27:14Lord, we ask prayer from tomorrow as he takes the field.
27:17Keep him healthy.
27:17Keep all his teammates healthy.
27:18Lord, let him play at his maximum ability.
27:20In Jesus' name we pray.
27:21Amen.
27:22Amen.
27:22Amen.
27:27Is Notre Dame done?
27:32The answer's no.
27:36The problem for Notre Dame is that there's no margin whatsoever.
27:40They do have to run the table.
27:43They're going to have to run out 10 straight victories.
27:45Just got to make sure that our mindset is there, man.
27:49There's more to us.
27:50There's more to this team.
27:52And they want to say, is this like last year where you guys get rolling?
27:56You know, in the moment, you don't know you're rolling.
28:00You look back and say, oh, man, we went 13 straight.
28:05No, it's work, man.
28:07It's the intentional work.
28:09Oof, it was a rough week.
28:12That doesn't mean I got to yell and scream, and coaches got to yell and scream, and you
28:16guys got to go nuts.
28:17But it's work.
28:19It's work that helps us improve.
28:22You know, I think we are a confident group that believes in how good we can be.
28:29We know there's more out there for us.
28:30But this group is starting to gain some momentum and confidence, and we have to use that as
28:37we go into this week of preparation.
28:39Like, hard work is rewarded, man, in life and in the game of football, you know.
28:45So, keep challenging ourselves and challenging each other.
28:48Now, we got to go.
28:49That's who we got to be as a team.
28:51Because if we're all like that in the town we are, watch where this team can go.
28:57You guys are playing well, but you've got to keep leading the way you guys are leading.
29:01Lead your rooms, lead yourselves, lead the team.
29:04How are you guys?
29:05Good?
29:05All right.
29:09All right.
29:11All right.
29:15Go Irish, let's hear those whistles.
29:17Take it away.
29:39Visiting the band was just an amazing experience.
29:46They're extremely smart kids.
30:05They're very active.
30:06They're fun to be around.
30:07And it feels like just one big family.
30:09It's like we're one big team, not just the football team, the players, but really the band
30:12as a whole.
30:13First of all, we want to thank you guys.
30:15Thank you all for what you bring to our program and the hard work that each and every one of
30:21you put in to putting on the performance that you guys do.
30:24Trust me, you guys are as part of what we do as much as the players.
30:29We're here to thank you and to pass out some book bags.
30:32I know you guys are finishing up some preparation, but your presence will be felt, and we're looking
30:36forward to it.
30:37All right?
30:37Thank you guys for all this.
30:42Thank you so much for coming in today.
30:44I have to ask, have any of you ever played an instrument before?
30:52Let them know what you play.
30:53I was a member of the band for five years, and I played trombone.
31:04Growing up, my parents really wanted us to be well-rounded and diverse, and so part of
31:10that was being in the band.
31:11In fourth grade, you had the opportunity to choose an instrument if you're choosing.
31:18All my brothers played the trombone, so it kind of came natural when we and our family
31:22won.
31:23What do you play?
31:24What do I play?
31:24Yes.
31:25Piccolo?
31:26I couldn't play that, but...
31:27I can't play the trombone.
31:28Hey, you know what?
31:29We got our strengths.
31:30We got our strengths.
31:30We have our strengths.
31:31Right.
31:32Playing trombone was just kind of a part of me growing up.
31:35It's something I love to do.
31:36Oh, man.
31:37Good luck.
31:37Yes.
31:38Can I get one?
31:39Oh, of course, man.
31:39Come on.
31:40Come on.
31:40Yes.
31:41Come on.
31:41Yes.
31:42Community.
31:43I love it.
31:43Hey, thank you.
31:44Thank you, man.
31:45We'll get another one.
31:46Yes.
31:47Let's go.
31:48I still have a fascination, man.
31:49Just kind of a fan of their work as a football player and be able to see them throughout the
31:54game and see the songs they play and the hard way they put it.
31:57It's just really cool to be a part of.
31:59Yep.
32:00Thank you so much.
32:01You guys do an awesome job.
32:02No, you guys do a better job.
32:03Trust me.
32:04Love the band.
32:05Love the band.
32:06All in.
32:07A lot of times, they'll come up to you so, like, we're big fans or we love the football team,
32:10but, like, I love you guys.
32:12Like, you guys are just as cool as we are.
32:14Here we go.
32:15There's the missiles.
32:15It's super cool because it feels like I'm still one of them, so it brought a smile to
32:36my face.
32:45All right, let's line up.
32:58You want to do C?
33:00Symbols want to do C. You want to do C?
33:03We're going to start from Spocker.
33:06We're going to try and get C in and do any subsection leaders want anything beyond C.
33:13My name's Wolfie Earhart.
33:14I'm a senior at Notre Dame, and I'm the section leader and center snare of the Notre Dame drumline.
33:19Four taps and then we're in on it right here.
33:24We're about to go to Midnight Drummer's Circle, which is where we all come together in front
33:38of the dome to kick off the football day.
33:43It's something that started in 2000.
33:49The drumline said, you know, it would be cool if we were kind of the kickoff to football activities
33:56on Saturday.
33:57So why don't we do this Midnight Drum Circle?
34:00How was it?
34:01That was so good.
34:02So good?
34:03Yeah.
34:04Awesome.
34:05Good?
34:06Everyone have light up sticks.
34:07It just grew and grew.
34:08It wasn't just students showing up, it was fans showing up.
34:13I started to feel all the butterflies and get amped up knowing that there's just hundreds
34:17of people out there waiting to see us perform.
34:19The Midnight Drummer's Circle just means everything for the football weekend.
34:21We have this phrase, victory begins at midnight.
34:23Three, two, one.
34:27This is really telling of how we want to set off the football day and the energy and atmosphere
34:28we want to start this day with.
34:39Just come and hype everyone up to prepare ourselves for a football day tomorrow.
34:56These football days are special.
35:01We want to start it right.
35:02We want to start it early just to show them how we do Irish football.
35:05Let's go Irish!
35:20Let's go Irish!
35:27Let's go Irish!
35:30Let's go Irish!
35:35Let's go Irish!
35:36Let's go Irish!
35:41And now, the Notre Dame victory march!
36:00The college football season has arrived in the month of October, and Notre Dame is back home to begin a three-game homestand.
36:13What a beautiful sight to behold today on Irish Wear Green Day. Notre Dame is green tops and bottoms at the gold helmets.
36:32It's kind of been just something that unites the student body, unites the crowd, unites the team. I know our players like to wear a different jersey.
36:48The guys love the green, and then running out the tunnel, see the whole, all the whole fans are, everybody's in green, everybody's cheering, so it was definitely a cool environment.
37:00Wearing the green is definitely super special to us.
37:03When we hold it dearly, we want to protect the sanctity of it.
37:06Look at the jersey. That's a Notre Dame football team for the first time wearing green.
37:14But we don't care if we're in t-shirts in the parking lot. We'll play whoever, wherever.
37:19Let's go.
37:21It's here. It's here. It's here. Enjoy it.
37:25Right? Enjoy this thing, man. You worked so hard for this opportunity.
37:29Just stay locked in on the moment, and we'll become a consistent football team.
37:38This is what delayed gratification is about.
37:40You work your ass off. Here's the reward.
37:44Go be the best, and go get team glory.
37:47Everything you got, sacrifice for each other.
37:51And let's grasp it.
37:53Let's go!
37:54Second and seven. Love gets the carry. Running right. Cuts back left. Now he has some space across midfield.
38:05Here he comes into Boise territory. All the way down to the 30-yard line.
38:09What a run by Jeremiah Love. Great vision. And then puts on the Jets for 36 yards.
38:18Four receivers set. Two each way for Carr. As he stands in the shotgun.
38:22Claps to the football and looks to throw.
38:24CJ Carr looks like it goes left. Up top for the end zone. Touchdown!
38:29When you see the ball up there coming right at you, you're like,
38:32all right, it's going to be on the money. You just got to go and make a play.
38:35A strike from Carr to Pauling to open the scoring.
38:44Cedar does a great job of just trusting us to go make those plays and putting us in situations where we can go out and be great.
38:49Just an NFL throw from CJ Carr. A laser right to left.
38:54Oh, that was perfect. Wow. That's an unbelievable throw.
39:03CJ has a lot of confidence in his arm.
39:09It was a great throw and great catch, and it was a great start.
39:12CJ Carr takes the snap. Here comes a blitz.
39:14Throws far sideline. Caught by Malachi Fields at the 30.
39:17Spins out of a tackle all the way up to the 40. 22 yards from Carr to Fields.
39:21Malachi Fields is a guy that should have been here for four years.
39:25Huge third and five here. Curious to see what happens if they don't get it.
39:28He just fits this place. He's an unbelievable talent.
39:30Carr throws on a comeback. Complete at the 18-yard line.
39:34At the sticks. He's driving the legs, and he's got the first down up to the 16-yard line.
39:39Bringing in two veteran guys brings a lot of experience.
39:41Me and Malachi have done a good job of kind of instilling ourselves in the room as leaders,
39:45and I think guys gravitate towards us because we handle our business on the field.
39:48Long-legging, stammering in the ground to get across the line to game.
39:52What a play.
39:56Ninth play of the drive coming for Notre Dame.
39:58They line up at the shotgun.
40:00Love gets the carry up the middle, and he's into the end zone.
40:04Untouched.
40:05Notre Dame's back in front with their second touchdown of the game.
40:10Touchdowns are stacking up for Love.
40:12That is nine now on the season.
40:15That was the easiest touchdown I think I've seen Jeremiah Love score.
40:18I mean, nobody touched him.
40:22Appeared to me like Marcus Freeman was probably going to send the offense back out there.
40:27Yeah, go for two.
40:29Shotgun snap coming for Carr.
40:33He'll roll to his right, looking to throw on the run.
40:36Wide open.
40:37Pulling catches near the front right pylon, and the two-point try is good.
40:41And Notre Dame will take a lead into the halftime locker room.
40:53They've got the ball to start the second half.
40:55Okay?
40:56This try to determine what game's going to look like.
40:58Okay?
40:59They're over there feeling pretty good.
41:00I'm going to be in down seven points right now.
41:02We got that?
41:03Just get your job done.
41:04Do exactly what you're supposed to do on that play.
41:07They're going to get the ball.
41:10They're a confident team.
41:11It's 14-7.
41:12Defense, you've got to go out there and shut them down right now.
41:14All right, D, let's go.
41:15Let's go.
41:15Let's go.
41:16Here we go.
41:16TGS on two.
41:17One, two.
41:18TGS.
41:18The improvement of the defense comes from within the coaching staff and players among us.
41:30Here at Notre Dame, we have a set standard that doesn't falter to anybody, regardless
41:33if you're a captain or a freshman.
41:35This defense is playing at a high level.
41:37Good job, D.
41:39Way to keep battling.
41:40Madsen's going to play fake and look to throw, and it's picked off.
41:44Leonard Moore intercepted at the 36.
41:46Six.
41:49Leonard's a special player.
41:51He's a rare talent.
41:53There's a confidence you have in it.
41:55He can always play man-to-man coverage and know he's going to get his job done.
41:59And that's the defense we've been waiting to see for five weeks.
42:03There's no magical formula.
42:06You have to work.
42:07You have to prepare.
42:08You've got to practice hard.
42:12That's what we focused on.
42:14And the outcome has been better on Saturdays, but the focus has been the preparation.
42:20Carr from the shotgun looking for Fields.
42:22It goes up in the end zone.
42:24He caught it.
42:25Touchdown, Notre Dame.
42:27Malachi Fields wins the one-on-one jump ball.
42:31And the Irish lead by two scores.
42:33We call them 50-50 balls, but really, when you're throwing to Malachi, it's more like 80-20.
42:37Like, you're confident he's going to come down with those balls.
42:40Perfect timing.
42:41Perfect route by Malachi Fields.
42:43When you play with a fire in the belly, you get points on the ball.
42:47Closing out in the home stay down with the win, it always feels good.
42:54Price gets it running right.
42:56Cuts inside.
42:58And Jadarian Price is still on his feet.
43:02Still going.
43:04One guy to beat.
43:05And he takes him out.
43:07Touchdown, Notre Dame.
43:08Jadarian Price, 49-yard house call, and he puts the nail in the coffin.
43:17Oh, good job, boy.
43:20Yes, sir.
43:21Yes, sir, J.D.
43:22You try to cherish those moments, cherish those hours that you have when you know that you put
43:28a lot of work in to achieve that desired outcome, and you achieved it.
43:33Third down and 10 for Madsen.
43:35Pressured again.
43:35Throws.
43:36Under Moore.
43:37Aha!
43:37Tintoe!
43:38On the sideline.
43:39Brought it in.
43:40It's his second interception of the day.
43:43And he caps off an outstanding afternoon for the Irish defense.
43:49Hey, victory.
43:53The score does not reflect the intensity, physicality, and domination of Notre Dame on both sides of
44:01the football today.
44:02Remarkable effort.
44:04There's going to be a lot of movement coming up here over the weeks.
44:06Yep.
44:07Just stay the course.
44:08And we'll see where the chips fall.
44:14You get to hold your head up a little higher on campus.
44:18You have a bigger smile on your face.
44:20You perform in front of your best friends on the dorm or your family that came up to the
44:23game.
44:23You protected your home.
44:25That's why you work so hard to enjoy this thing, and everybody should feel a part of this thing.
44:34I don't care if you've never stepped on the field, Damon, or if you've played every snap.
44:39If you give your all to this place in the week of preparation, man, you better be as proud as anybody else.
44:44All right?
44:44We know there's capacity, guys.
44:47There's more room.
44:49Enjoy this thing.
44:50All right?
44:50We appreciate it.
44:51I appreciate you all.
44:53Continue.
44:53Remember what we talked about.
44:54Just continue to sacrifice for each other.
44:57Right?
44:58If we continue to do that, I promise it'll be the greatest thing we do.
45:02I reminded you guys that last time.
45:04Continue to sacrifice for each other.
45:06Coaches, continue to sacrifice for each other, your players.
45:09Right?
45:09And expect nothing to return.
45:11We're doing this because this is what this program needs.
45:13If we do that, watch out.
45:16Hell yeah.
45:16You know what time it is.
45:17One, two, three.
45:18Here come the Irish!
45:19Hell yeah, baby.
