00:14lost i have experienced so much loss but i think that when it really gutted me is my grandmother
00:20died in may of 2021 and then my father unexpectedly died in october of 2021 so on top of losing aunts
00:28and uncles and grandparents like losing a parent is something that really does shake your core and
00:33when i would talk about it i'm gonna be honest i would feel weird i would feel weird and there will
00:38be times where it's like i'm with my friends i specifically remember getting ready to go to a
00:42wale concert and somebody said something and then i ended up telling a really long story about g
00:47and who's my dad and it made me feel weird my friends looked at me like because they couldn't
00:52experience it they couldn't connect to it and i think that being black women we often struggle
00:57with sharing how we feel especially if it's rooted in vulnerability rooted in sadness rooted in us
01:03not being strong exactly dominant and just always on point so that's why i started black girls who've
01:10lost because i needed community i needed people who understood how i would feel and selfishly that's
01:16why i started but overall it started to be something that i didn't even realize some of my friends

01:27we got in an intimate setting that they would share things feel things cry do these things so i was like
