30:17You've created, you've written, you've produced, directed
30:20one of the most successful, one of the greatest shows
30:22in TV history.
30:24How does it feel?
30:27I mean, you've been a part of pop culture
30:30for the last decade.
30:31Well, no one thought season one was going to be a hit.
30:34No one did.
30:36Netflix didn't.
30:37We certainly didn't.
30:38But I remember when it came out, it was sort of slow.
30:40It was like word of mouth.
30:41But then I remember there was this giant mural of Barb
30:45in Australia.
30:46And at that point, I was like, something is happening.
30:49People are actually watching this.
30:50Yeah, and then SNL made fun of us.
30:52So, like, once you're getting made fun of on SNL,
30:55it's like, okay, this is a real thing.
30:58I've got to say, you have a great eye for casting.
31:00It's one of the best casts in the history of television.
31:03Every single kid is charming, smart, cool.
31:09They act great.
31:10I can't get enough of them.
31:11And then 10 years later, they're still great.
31:13That's, gosh, you guys won really hard on that.
31:17How did you cast this?
31:19I mean, well, first of all,
31:20we had an amazing casting director, Carmen Cuba.
31:22And then we...
31:23Carmen Cuba, yeah, shout out.
31:25Yeah, she's amazing.
31:27And so we just, no, you just cast a wide net,
31:29and then a bunch of kids obviously submit tapes.
31:32And then only very few, I mean, very few of them can act.
31:35So it's not that hard, right?
31:36I mean, most of them are pretty bad.
31:38Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
31:39And then you're just looking for a kid
31:41who feels real and authentic.
31:42And also, it was like,
31:43who have we not seen on television before?
31:45Like, Finn's, I know he was just on,
31:47but Finn's tape came in.
31:49He was sick in bed, you know,
31:51and his dad was filming him.
31:52It just felt very real.
31:53And I was like, I haven't seen a kid like this on TV.
31:55Gaten looked like a little Muppet.
31:57And we just fell in love with him.
31:59So it was almost immediate.
