00:00In the meantime, the Department of Agriculture issued notices to explain, or NTE, to several stalls at Muñoz Market following a joint inspection that uncovered violations of the maximum suggested retail price, or MSRP, for onions and pork.
00:16One out of 12 vegetable stalls received an NTE after it was found selling imported onions but declaring them as local to justify a higher price.
00:26The DA stated that the MSRP for imported red onions is capped at 150 pesos per kilo, while imported white onions are set at 120 pesos per kilo.
00:39Additionally, 20 pork stalls were served NTEs for selling pork cuts above the mandated MSRP, which are 340 pesos per kilo for Kasim and Piguet, and 370 pesos per kilo for Liempo.
00:53The DA is conducting a review of the entire agricultural value chain, from importer to retailer, to identify the source of the price manipulation and determine suitable charges.
