00:00The Department of Agriculture, or DA, is considering an increase in the maximum suggested retail price, or MSRP, for imported rice.

00:08From the current price of 43 pesos per kilo for imported rice, it could potentially be raised to 45 pesos per kilo.

00:15However, the final price will still depend on changes in the world market price.

00:20The DA stated that the possible hike is due to the expected increase in the tariff on imported rice, which will take effect on January 16.

00:28Taking into account the weakening of the Philippine peso against the US dollar as another factor.
