00:00other language in my situation i learning with when i when i'm more old is it's it was more
00:14difficult or it it has been as it has been more difficult for me okay yeah i mean it doesn't
00:24necessarily mean that when you're older uh it's it's not possible to learn it of course it's possible
00:31but the process is a little bit more um slow slow but um but it's it's always a good time to learn
00:40you know this uh as long as you have the motivation as long as you have the desire to learn something
00:47i think i think that at any time that you decide to learn something it's it's something uh it's
00:52something good you know i think it's it's necessary to always have a good motivation to always feel
01:01encouraged right so do you remember the first time that you studied english in your life
01:09yes when i i am 20 when i was 20 20 29 years old 29
01:21mm-hmm excellent region i beginning in this in this day and continue as today okay oh that's fantastic
01:32perfect and uh how did you feel that uh how did you feel in that time did you feel nervous did you feel
01:39stressed excited
01:40uh actually i feel more frustrated because i it's a difficult understand the natives uh language or then
01:55when talk talking on the person native or okay so do you think that's a foreign game or foreign uh-huh is
02:06very difficult to understand for me okay uh but i i think it is i am constant person i i consider
02:17okay i i i have too much more um frequency or constant to you learn uh obviously is is a slow slowly
02:30okay but uh the big problem is i don't have someone practice and cool and diet day and day they can be
02:49every day
02:50every day but it is is um my motivation is um i i i my goal is someday to learn more english someday yeah
03:08yeah of course i mean well uh learning english it's it's a full-time uh process you know it uh one never
03:17ends to learn you know in me in my case that i'm a teacher i continue learning and learning as as um
03:24as much as i read new books and new articles and i find new vocabulary and new structures you know but
03:31everything it's a process you know but as long as you like it as long as you enjoy it
03:36i think it's it's really fun i think it's really enjoyable
03:40so uh why do you feel evelia that you have some uh struggles or why do you think that it's difficult
03:48at the moment of having a conversation with a with a native person with a foreigner what's the most
03:55difficult part of it is a i confused the the different words the meaning the words
04:06if the other program is okay i i i think i haven't more vocabulary your vocabulary and i need more
04:18vocabulary but when talking with the other people i don't identify kids words or
04:30uh the total idea i i don't understand total idea okay i understand so that's uh in order to improve
04:41that it's really useful that you that you guide yourself through the context you know whenever
04:47you are listening to someone whenever you you're having a conversation with with a person in particular
04:54just pay attention to the context to the rest of the idea that the person is describing that way is
05:02going to be a lot easier to identify the meaning of the phrase and the um the intention you know also
05:13in english it's really important to uh to listen to the um intonation because the intonation gives you a
05:22lot of hints to understand if the person is angry sad excited happy you know i mean you can identify
05:31various things from uh intonation and that's excellent because fortunately in english there are
05:38so many people that emphasize a lot in their emotions so they tend to be a lot more expressive
05:45they tend to be uh a lot more uh exaggerated at the moment of expressing an idea and i think that's
05:53the main reason that that helps us a lot to understand the meaning of uh of someone when whenever
06:03they're speaking you know so i think that's a good key the other the other point is uh to read uh do you
06:09like reading yes i like to read it but in this moment only reading in spanish but i do do you do you do
06:20you could uh give me uh one recommendation the basic english but you but i reading um
06:30um in in in in my time in my time yes of course uh like well there are many many excellent books to
06:41read but uh for example um um let's say for example we have this book have you have you ever read uh the
06:53harry potter books in english no in english those are very good you know those are very good to read
07:00because okay especially the first one and the second one you know the first book okay and the
07:04second book are excellent to read the third book and the fourth and the fifth and the sixth and the
07:10seventh are a little bit more uh uh complex in their expressions and in their vocabulary but the first
07:17one and the second are excellent to begin with you know okay but if you if you read the first one and
07:24the second i'm i'm very sure that you will have no problem at reading the third and the rest of the
07:30series you know but harry potter is excellent despite the fact that it's british you know it's british
07:36english so some expressions may vary a little bit but remember that the origins of english come from the
07:43united kingdom and the the original english come from from england you know so it's um it's always good
07:52to look at those uh to look at those uh expressions you know to understand how they speak and how they
08:00talk and it's really interesting to see that you know another good one is the the little prince you
08:07know the little prince is an excellent book and uh the little prince is yeah it's very famous it's a
08:14very famous book you know that's uh there's also a very good series which is called uh narnia you know
08:22which is written by c.s lewis i think that's uh let me write it here for you in the in the um in the chat
08:32right but okay i do have i do have many books right here let me see if i have one around here that you
08:39can that you can have in pdf also there are some books that contain short stories you know short uh
08:48short english stories that you can that you can read that you can that you can read in your free time
08:54so in short tales i think those books are excellent but uh there there are so many there are so many
09:01interesting books out there to read um also uh there are some books from uh
09:09park you know jurassic park has excellent books excellent books to read i have all of those
09:19on pdf you know i'm going to send you a couple of those uh i think i have i have those books in my
09:27other computer you know is that but i will try to find those for you so that you can um that you can
09:35read them you know that you can practice a little bit and uh but the thing is that whenever you read
09:42try to have your um your notebook next to you so that you can you can take notes of uh of what you're
09:51reading and uh and you can follow the uh the idea you know it's it's really useful though
10:01also well the uh the lord of the rings you know the lord of the rings is a little bit more complex
10:06but but it's also a a great book to read you know
10:14and uh well i have this book let me send you this book that we have today on screen you know so i think
10:19this is going to be really useful for you as it is a a really handy book that you can use to study
10:28to study some grammar to study some some expressions to review it also includes a lot of a lot of
10:38information and and dialogues to practice i'm sending it right now you know so it will
10:45it will it will be sent in a couple seconds there it is you know let me let me see if you if you
10:54received it in your whatsapp you know so that's an excellent book to practice you know see because i i
11:03i i i i forgot to continue the reading because the ideas or expression more complex or difficult
11:23uh i i i think it is not no good idea beginning with with this type tools okay uh what what do you mean
11:36with uh what title uh what book did you read i don't finish this title they i i sent to the in the chat
11:51okay okay okay the alchemist okay the alchemist oh that's good oh yeah but i imagine uh paolo
11:58coelho it's a very well-known writer you know i think it's uh well that's a little bit more complex
12:03you know that a little bit more difficult vocabulary and this is great when beginning and i i need change
12:13for other more um basic expressions yes of course i mean the point is that you choose a book that you
12:23like and uh and uh that you can have fun while reading it you know that's the purpose of that
12:30also stephen king is really good you know stephen king is really good uh in the case that you like uh
12:36horror stories you know but if you don't like horror stories there are always good uh books for
12:43children that you can start reading so that you can start feeling confident and there's nothing wrong
12:48with that you know there's nothing wrong with reading something designed for children but it's uh
12:54it's it's a process it's part of the process to start reading to start feeling confident with
12:59yourself and um and with your english and eventually you will see that uh that you are going to improve
13:05greatly also to watch movies you know to watch movies with basic vocabulary like um like this movie
13:14uh which is very famous to watch in christmas home alone you know remember with macaulay cocking and
13:19uh macaulay who was really close to uh uh to hollywood to make children's movies and all that
13:35do you know who he is i i don't remember these movies no let me show you right here it's uh
13:44uh let me show you this movie this this is uh home alone uh home alone let me let me show you that one
13:57ah yeah that's really that's really uh easy to understand in english you know it's a good idea
14:09it's possible in english yeah in this uh period of christmas vacation holidays i see you in the next
14:25week yeah of course so i remember that uh that uh here in our course we continue we continue studying you
14:34know we continue in the same uh structure of our english program until until september i mean sorry
14:43september december until december 24th that's a day off and also december 25th and we continue on
14:52december 26th right okay so basically we don't have a vacation because of the the school is having some
15:02issues you know because we don't have many students and many courses so they're trying to find a good
15:09strategy to uh retrieve all the students that have gone out to other schools so that's part of the
15:16administration you know you know that management of a business is quite a complex business however uh
15:23however i'm here to help you you know we can concentrate on studying english and i also have um
15:30a conversation club you know i would like you i would like to invite you there so that you can
15:36practice a little bit more of your english uh recently we haven't had some conversational sessions
15:42but i hope that in the future in the upcoming months around march or april we will have some new
15:49conversation courses so uh you can practice you know you can listen to other people to speak in english
15:57because the purpose of speaking english is not only to listen to the teacher you know because
16:03i am your teacher and so on that's good but the purpose of studying english is to listen to different
16:09people you know to to listen to different accents to and to improve your experience with uh with uh
16:18new interactions with new uh experiences with new conversations you know uh knowing new cultures i mean
16:26that's the purpose of that so um so i hope that uh in the future i can uh invite you you know to some
16:35conversation classes so that you can listen to more people and you can you can practice you know
16:42okay yes that's good excellent very good so what do we have here today however i'm gonna send you some
16:52books you know just let me let me look for them in my in my other computer you know so i'm gonna send
16:59you some good books for you to read and those who are in digital format i know that sometimes it's a lot more
17:08comfortable to read with physical copy of a book no it's when um with this recommendation it's not
17:18necessary at the ice is just send my my book i i both um i i i go by the the physical books yeah the experience
17:32i think is more uh in more comfortable for me because when i found the words like that i don't
17:44understand the mark in the mark this word i found the dictionary the the mean i continue reading no oh
17:58yeah well always a dictionary is useful you know dictionary is always useful there but um but yeah
18:06i mean uh it's uh well it's always enjoyable to have a physical copy or a digital copy but uh well
18:14now these days with technology we have uh we have this excellent option you know what's good the other
18:22day i saw a person on the train and she was uh she was holding a device that actually looked like a
18:30tablet you know like a like a you know tablet you know and uh and she was reading a book in her tablet
18:39i don't know what's the name of this device but it's really it's really practical to read i think it's
18:45kindle you know i think it's sold by amazon amazon kindle and you can um and you can read so many books
18:53in that and it has a really suitable uh brightness for your eyes you know so it's not tiring or annoying
19:02to read on a screen i actually want to get one of those you know so it's um that's another good idea
19:11you know let me let me see if i can if i can find here kindle device reading um kindle you know kindle
19:24this this is the one yeah let me let me see so this is the one here like that one you know that i think
19:36that's excellent because it's like uh it's like a tablet uh specifically for uh for reading i really
19:46but it's only they use it is for reading no no is tablet when you check by email and whatever no
19:57only is a specific for reading for reading okay okay which i consider is good you know it's something
20:05good because sometimes whenever you have your tablet to read or yourself we tend to be usually
20:11distracted by notifications or or say yes you know i totally destroyed it this destroyed it distracted
20:22and these devices help you to uh well to have a better experience at the moment of reading right
20:30so we might as well get one to try it you know myself i would like to try i would like to try one
20:36myself you know as we can see here it's also uh it's also available to take notes you know so i think
20:44it's really practical like a kind of an agenda you know so that's i think that would be a good idea
20:52so we have various options these days you know to practice to read so what topic do we have here
20:59today we have technology and you right so evelia what's your experience with technology do you like
21:05technology do you struggle with technology because sometimes uh these days we have uh like both teams
21:13you know both sides some young people usually tend to be really close to technology but some other
21:20people from our old generations uh you know from previous generations have some struggles with
21:27technology for example my parents sometimes struggle a little bit with technology so what about you
21:33what's your experience with technology what's your experience with technology um i i am not good
21:40the experience with technology but is necessary necessary in my job um they use a in a ei or introducing the
21:53different apps um or a webs in in the in the in my job but in my personal life i i the less use it um
22:11internet or technology no use uh with a frequency is sometimes okay okay that's good so
22:23you basically you only use it when it's necessary right it's just okay that's good so uh what do you
22:31think that uh that's right is this question right here you know so it's a lot easier what do you think
22:38that technology is so engaging for younger generations so what do you think about that question do you understand
22:49what it means it it just only engaging and engine is like something that you cannot something that becomes
23:01like an addiction you know ah yeah yeah yeah yeah i don't understand why is it so engaging i i i i think
23:13that this uh or in joan enjoying generation um it is very in in jangy addiction okay technologies and
23:27different um different um or iphones or games or different um tools but in general is is total
23:45total time expand the teenagers in the technologies all day all day all day they spend it all day that's
23:55true i agree right which is something uh uh well something worrying sometimes because um because it
24:06shouldn't be that way you know i mean a lot of people are are struggling at the moment of uh managing or
24:14trying to um how can we say by trying to control the time in which uh new generations spend in front of
24:25screens or in front of uh a video game or in front of uh in front of uh youtube you know they have so many
24:34technological um technological aspects these days you know and sometimes it's difficult to to control
24:43people so um so um i think that's the main reason for which many um schools and many uh academical programs
24:54are having some uh issues you know at the moment of at the moment of uh controlling what uh of controlling
25:03the the um how can we say the time that teenagers spend with technology you know so
25:11uh sometimes it's worrying sometimes it's uh it's something that uh it shouldn't be that way but
25:20for some reason it seems that uh technology is so engaging for for young people these days you know
25:29so that's uh that's the point excellent very good so uh so what other activities uh would you recommend
25:40haveelia to do instead of spending the whole time in front of uh in front of a screen
25:54and teenagers create create um games create uh the homework uh projects um
26:08um expand time in the um in the photographic or or videos okay and
26:22not only not only see the videos or photographs and create these videos contains in the internet um
26:35um and in social mediums too let's talk okay yeah social media i think that social media is very uh
26:50is very addictive you know
26:52yes i think they spend more time in this social media uh that video games with the other uh
27:08in the other parts in the internet i i think it is more added addictive uh social media that uh and
27:17uh video games for the children or teenagers that the other apps okay yes i understand so what do you think
27:29that would be like a good alternative for for young people i mean what would be the like the solution to
27:37to that because um a lot of children uh spend a long time in front of of these activities the problem is that
27:46whenever you take them out to do something else let's say whenever you invite them to um i don't know
27:54like to to the park or to play a sport like basketball they do not find it uh fun for some reason
28:04you know so they get bored easily so what would be like the recommendation uh for them to not depend too
28:12much on technology what do you think i think the the best advice it could be is expand the time for them
28:23uh they they they have more attention for the teenagers of children um expand time in different activities
28:36obviously is a good idea a a swimming or a running or different activities a physical but the other ideas
28:50only when when when we have conversation with the children uh in place plays already
29:04game games or listen music a little activities simple uh ideas is uh is enough for uh sufficient uh for the
29:17children for example in my daughters my daughters don't have uh obviously a um a cell phone or a phone i don't
29:28permission would see the technology this technology
29:32for for for her is a is normally then you don't see a video but videos or take a a picture
29:49but but it dependent dependent of the decision of the parents more the governation or the other people's
29:59is dependent uh more the of the laws or nerves that take them the fat the parents for for for this
30:12okay yes i understand right yes i would think that that parents are usually struggling with this recently
30:19i had a student whose uh children is uh whose child is not able to to get rid of uh of a video game you
30:29know that's what she told me and uh and apparently her uh her son is spending too much in front of that
30:37in front of that screen playing that video game over and over and he has lost interest in doing other
30:43activities such as practicing sports or going out with uh with the family you know to have a good time
30:51to have a good meal at a restaurant or something like that to have or to share a good time of quality
30:57with our loved ones but uh well that's the way it is these days um some people believe that
31:04children do not have a personal life these days but i think that it's totally the opposite
31:10i believe that children are experiencing a digital life these days you know like they have their friends
31:18in the video game they have their life in the video game and they have their perspective of life
31:26inside of that very video game and for that reason some children may feel so engaged to that aspect of
31:35uh of the entertainment which is so difficult to control these days especially in schools you know i've
31:42seen so many problems in elementary schools in the middle schools and even in junior high schools so it's
31:52i think it's it's time for for governments and for different organizations to pay attention to this
31:59to look at this and to see what is the problem that it's developing in our very eyes you know before
32:07it gets too late or before it gets worse because uh now these days we have another tool which is
32:16the artificial intelligence that children are depending too much and excessively on this technology so
32:26they don't really know how to control this you know how to set a control over these technologies and
32:32that's the main reason for which we are experiencing all of these problems that are occurring in schools
32:39right so it's a very interesting topic right there see i think the new generation yeah um
32:45um they lost the ability the connection with the human okay that's true yeah actually uh it's impossible the
32:58um the connection quickly with the other or new friends in your school or
33:06um in in with the with the family it's two the big problems it's causing with the other cousin i don't
33:19speak nothing they are lost um expression or connection with the human for i they they prefer
33:29they're connected by by social media but when i from to face to face with the cousin no no speaking no
33:40can be face with this okay they don't you you want to say they don't uh get together you know they don't
33:49have a personal interaction right that's what exactly you want to say because can be bait is not a word in english
33:57right they do not uh get together they do not short time they do not interact with each other so yeah
34:06that's uh that's a very interesting topic to analyze so we have a technology assignment why is it important
34:14for children to practice other activities a part of technology related activities that's question
34:21number one we're gonna set a couple more questions here for example what would be uh the what would be a
34:29good recommendations for parents to set a restriction on their uh children on their children uh on their
34:42children to um to make them um to make them um to make them more responsible with technologies right so with
34:57technologies that's question number two and we are going to write notes your personal experience with the new
35:09the new aspects of the uh of technology we're gonna have number four um what would be what could be the
35:25possible consequences of not controlling not controlling technology responsibly
35:39right and finally number five we're gonna write here for example um for example let's say how do you imagine
35:52how do you imagine the future
35:55how do you imagine the future um from now to 20 from now to 20 years in terms of technology
36:12issues issues are like problems you know so that's like that so in this case we have these uh assignments
36:20so we're going to have a lot of questions that we're going to do let me share these uh questions with you
36:33what's up where's my what's up let me let me do this
36:38so remember that whenever we write
36:47it's a lot easier to organize our ideas you know it's a lot easier to to organize what we want to
36:56say it's a lot easier to like to uh correct the possible mistakes that we could have so for
37:05example if i have question number one that i have why is it important for children to practice other
37:12activities a part of technology related activities let me copy this one and we're gonna we're gonna make an
37:21example of uh what my answer would be so we have answer i would say personally something like this
37:30um i think that practicing other activities such such as sports reading or sharing sharing quality time
37:48with family with family is rather important to have a balance to have a balance in our life
37:58and to get a better perspective in terms of what limitations we should have with technology
38:14that eventually that eventually or that said eventually will make us will make us more conscious
38:32more conscious more conscious on how on on the approach let's change it for the approach that sounds better
38:43better on the approach that we have that we have uh to technology
38:54you know that's uh in that case that's that's an example that's an example of what we will do here
39:01so that's uh that's something that we have to to write right so i'm gonna send you the example too
39:09so you can you can you can check it out for example so that's the point you know so it's a it's a very
39:18interesting topic to discuss here because it shows that uh we have to be responsible with these technologies
39:27because if we don't do so uh we may face problems in the future that we may not be prepared for
39:34so that's the main problem right so that's gonna be our homework for tomorrow do you have any questions
39:42about the activity available not that you're not exclude for me remember that uh while writing it's a
39:50lot easier for you to correct you know it's a lot easier for you to correct it's a lot easier
39:55uh at the moment of organizing the ideas and that you can be conscious on how you are writing so
40:07remember that uh it is important for you to practice uh analyze all the possible mistakes that you could
40:15have and do not feel frustrated you know it's really important that you are patient with your process
40:21that you feel comfortable with it and uh well do not lose uh patience you know do not lose patience
40:29because patience is important in every um in every aspect of our learning related to to to anything you
40:38know because sometimes we say you know what i want to learn to play an instrument but um but if it's not
40:47possible to do it in in two days i get frustrated and that's not that's not uh that's not the purpose
40:54right i mean learning something takes time and it's important for us to be aware of this and to be
41:02conscious that we are following a process and that uh every day makes a difference every day makes a
41:10difference as much as much as you're practicing you will see results right
41:19yes teacher i i think when i writing is is it's more easy that that see the the mistakes
41:32and in different when i speaking when speaking i don't a conscience i don't have conscience with the
41:43mistakes and when i work uh writing or reading is more focused in the structures or grammar and the
41:56organize ideas that's exactly what it is so uh tomorrow we will continue studying these interesting
42:05vocabulary related to technology so we can have a good discussions about the devices and the items
42:13that are sold at this store right so that's everything for my part from my part today
42:19avelia right that's everything for today uh do you have any other questions so far no questions teacher
42:26thanks perfect excellent very good so uh tomorrow we continue practicing right and i hope that you have
42:32a good night if you have any problems or doubts at the moment of writing your your answers to your
42:39questions please let me know do not hesitate on sending me a message so i can help you out okay
42:45okay okay teacher thank you perfect have a good night avelia and see you uh tomorrow see you tomorrow
