00:00U.S. President Donald Trump signed a decision tightening entry restrictions to the United
00:07States, this time extending the list to seven new countries. Burkina Faso, Laos, Mali, Niger,
00:17Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Syria, in addition to holders of passports issued by the Palestinian
00:25Authority. The decision was justified by shortcomings in security vetting systems and
00:32weak intelligence information sharing with Washington. The ban on 12 countries classified
00:37as high risk remains in place, along with partial restrictions on 15 other countries.
00:43The U.S. administration confirmed that the decision exempts permanent residents and certain visa
00:50categories. Syria's inclusion, which Trump has been seeking to rehabilitate internationally,
00:56came days after the killing of three Americans in an attack in the city of Palmyra, in central Syria.
