00:00OK, I mean, Angie, the Republicans that we're hearing from all argue that this personal diplomacy and this personal rapport
00:08that President Trump has built up with President Xi over several years is delivering where previous administrations fail.
00:15I mean, what do you think they make of President Trump in China?
00:19Well, I was looking at the Chinese newspapers today and, you know, there is, you know, there are some that
00:24really love that Trump is there.
00:26Certainly the Hong Kong papers love that. They really feel like President Trump is there to deliver not only for
00:31China, but also for Hong Kong, who has their own democracy issues and Jimmy Lai and other issues.
00:38And Marco Rubio is certainly on top of that. But I think what Trump is delivering is absolute beyond diplomacy.
00:45He knows exactly how to charm Xi Jinping in getting what he wants.
00:50And what has Trump walked away from? The early talks were, well, more U.S. business investments, agricultural investments and
00:56purchases by China, AI, and hopefully help with reopening the Straits of Hormuz.
01:03Whether or not China can deliver that, that's a whole other issue.
01:05But what Trump is actually giving to Xi that is so soft power that Xi has been wanting his entire
01:11career is that Trump sees Xi Jinping as an equal world leader.
01:17And Xi Jinping has had 40 years to build up to this point.
01:20So I think Trump is giving him that respect.
01:24And I think that's what Xi is responding to.
01:27He even said, you know, he wants to help make America great again, which I thought was great during the
01:32banquet speeches.
01:33So there is clearly a special relationship between the U.S. and China.
01:38It's really now down to the details and how they deal with that going forward.
