US Vice President JD Vance gave the economy an “A++++” rating after being asked by a reporter what grade he would assign today, echoing a similar assessment made by President Donald Trump last week.
When pressed on the comparison, Vance repeated the top grade, drawing loud cheers from the crowd, who broke into chants of “USA! USA!” The exchange quickly energized the audience and underscored the administration’s confidence in its economic record.
The moment comes as the White House seeks to reinforce its economic messaging, highlighting growth, jobs and domestic investment amid ongoing political debate over inflation, wages and long-term stability.

00:00Thank you, thank you.
00:02Wow, it is great to be here in Pennsylvania. It's a good day. Anytime
00:07Anytime you get out of Washington DC
00:09And I got to tell you I want to I want to go to the bar and drink whatever these guys over here drinking because they're
00:15They're having a good time
00:17They're having a good time. I want to thank a few people before I get started here
00:22First of all, I'm so honored to be joined by our wonderful second lady Usha Vance my lovely wife Usha
00:30I
00:34Want to thank our great Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez de Rimmer who's doing an amazing job and she's focused on something
00:41That I think is is very much close to the heart of our great workers here in Pennsylvania
00:46Which is just very simple idea that you ought to be able to raise a family and earn a good wage
00:53Even if you don't go to college. We don't want to force everybody to go to college
00:57We want to empower people who want to work with their hands to earn a good wage and do a good job
01:02And she's fighting for that every single day Lori's doing a great job
01:05We've got our great congressman Ryan McKenzie Ryan, please stand up and say hello to everybody Ryan is doing a good job in Washington
01:21He's got a great heart for the people of this district
01:24He's only been in town for a couple of years maybe only a year now, right?
01:27That you've been in Congress and you see it every all the time you see it with Democrats and Republicans
01:33Sometimes people go to Washington and forget who they serve not Ryan McKenzie
01:37You are very lucky in Pennsylvania to have one of the good ones and Ryan is helping us every single day fight for American workers
01:44I believe
01:52Young man shouldn't you be in school?
01:54We got a great young patriot over here. You ought to come up and take a photo afterwards
02:01But I also want to give a shout out to treasurer Stacy Garrity
02:04Stacy, thanks for everything that you do and thanks for being here today
02:08Where is she? There we go
02:12And of course finally to all the employees and the management the good people of Uline for making it possible to be here
02:21This is a massive facility
02:23And I think that it speaks to what's going on in the United States of America
02:28Under the past 10 months of Donald J. Trump's presidential leadership
02:38Under this president my friends we are building again
02:41We are investing in the United States of America again
02:44You heard our secretary of labor talk about it
02:4661,000 jobs added in the month of November
02:50And that's not all
02:51We saw private sector wage growth grow at a rate of 4.2%
02:56You know what that means?
02:57That means we're seeing the fastest private sector wage growth that we have seen in this country in many, many years
03:04And we're doing it by having a president and an administration that believes in you and fights for you
03:11That is what we're trying to do every single day
03:13Now I will say as excited as I was to be here this morning I remember when I got off the airplane and it is cold
03:26And you know like a good gentleman I let my wife come down the steps first
03:33And then I get to the bottom of the steps and there's a bunch of firefighters
03:36From the great Lehigh Valley who want to take a photo with me
03:39And obviously I love our firefighters I'm happy to take a photo
03:42Now here's the problem
03:43To the right of me is all these media cameras
03:47Probably broadcasting my every moment on national television
03:50Some of the fake news gathered with us here today
03:56And to the left of me
03:57And to the left of me is these great firefighters
03:59And there before me is a sheet of black ice
04:04And I think to myself if I walk over to those guys and take this photo
04:09I am going to bust my you know what I'm not going to say it because we have this very bright young man here
04:13I don't want to teach you any bad words
04:15I don't want your mom and dad to be mad at me
04:17So I do what any self-respecting man would do in a situation like that
04:21I send my wife to go and take a photo with the firefighters
04:26No I didn't
04:27I actually didn't
04:28I did I did I did it the right way
04:30But I did do sort of the Biden slow shuffle to get over there
04:34I did not want these national cameras to catch me doing anything
04:38You know because if I if I fell if I wiped out on that runway
04:43You all know that would be national news for the next week
04:46Now Joe Biden could fall walking up the steps
04:49In broad daylight in 80 degree weather
04:51Nobody would mind it
04:52But if me or the president do anything like that
04:54It's going to be plastered all over the news
04:56But now we're here
04:57We've made it
04:58We have not wiped out
04:59And we're here to talk about America's economic comeback
05:02And ladies and gentlemen
05:03We needed an economic comeback in the United States of America
05:07We needed it
05:13When we talk about all the wage growth
05:15When we talk about all the people who are coming into the United States to invest in the American worker
05:21We've got real money, real jobs and real opportunity
05:26What that means for the state of Pennsylvania
05:28Is that in just the last 11 months
05:30We're creating 60,000 good paying jobs for Pennsylvania families
05:36And we're bringing in just in this one commonwealth
05:39A hundred billion dollars of new investment into this great place
05:44That is real opportunity for the American people
05:47That is real wage growth for the American people
05:49And look, I grew up in a community
05:56I was raised by my grandmother in a community
05:59Where when I was growing up
06:01The factories were closing down
06:03And those good paying jobs
06:04They weren't coming into our communities
06:06They were getting shipped overseas by politicians in Washington DC
06:10The president of the United States has set this entire administration on a different course
06:15We are sick of rewarding companies that ship jobs overseas
06:18We're going to reward companies that build right here in America
06:21And give Americans good wages to do it
06:29And you already see it, my friends
06:31You already see it in some of the numbers that we're seeing
06:33When I talk about what we are most proud of
06:36I probably start with what we've been able to do at the southern border
06:39And we'll talk about that in a second
06:41But right after that
06:43Is if you go to the Biden administration
06:45The average American family lost $3,000 of take home pay
06:51Through the terrible inflation of the Biden administration
06:54In just 10 months of the Trump administration
06:57The average American family has gained about $1,000 of take home pay
07:02Now that
07:03That difference could not be starker
07:08When Joe Biden was president for four years
07:10He took $3,000 out of your pocket
07:13And in just 10 months of the president's leadership
07:16We have put $1,000 back in your pocket
07:19That's what that means
07:20And that's
07:21And that's just the beginning, my friends
07:26That is just the beginning
07:28Because if you look at what we are doing
07:30Every single day
07:31You are going to have
07:32And if this doesn't turn out to be true
07:35I'll come back here
07:36And you can all tell me I'm wrong
07:38But I'm telling you it's going to be true
07:40You are going to have
07:41Middle class Americans
07:42Middle class Pennsylvanians
07:44Some of the best tax season in 2026 that you've ever had
07:48Because
07:55If you look at no taxes on overtime
07:57No taxes on tips
07:59When we talk about no taxes on your auto loans
08:02If you buy an American made car
08:04Now those are political words
08:06I'm sure you've heard them on TV
08:07But starting with tax season
08:09In just a couple of weeks
08:10You are going to see that in your tax refund
08:13That's what that means
08:14More money in your pocket
08:15Because you've got a president and a congress
08:17That are fighting for you for a change
08:19And that's exactly what it should be
08:20And I got to say
08:28I'm a little surprised
08:30I'm a little surprised
08:32By when the Democrats talk
08:34All the time
08:35About affordability
08:38Democrats say
08:39You know things aren't affordable
08:41This isn't affordable
08:42This has gotten more expensive
08:44Drugs have gotten more expensive
08:45Housing has gotten more expensive
08:46And you know what?
08:48They're right
08:49And it was because of them
08:50It ain't that hard
08:53If you go back to the four years
08:55Of the Biden administration
08:56Why did housing get so expensive?
08:59Double in price
09:00During the Biden administration
09:01It's because Joe Biden let in
09:0420 million illegal immigrants
09:06Who took homes
09:07That ought by right
09:08Go to American citizens
09:09And to the people of this great state
09:12When we talk about
09:17Why did healthcare get so unaffordable
09:19During the Biden administration
09:21It's because Joe Biden
09:23Allowed prescription drug companies
09:25To take advantage of this country
09:27You know Europeans were paying way less
09:30For prescription drugs
09:31Than our American citizens
09:33It took Donald J. Trump
09:34To haul those pharmaceutical executives
09:36Into the Oval Office
09:37And say no more
09:38Europe's going to pay more for drugs
09:40And America's going to pay less for drugs
09:42Because we've got to fight for the American people
09:44For a change
09:46Why have rents gone down for four consecutive months?
09:52For four consecutive months
09:53And I know they're still too high
09:54But why have rents gone down for four consecutive months?
09:57Because we're starting to get those illegal aliens
10:01Out of the United States of America
10:03Those criminals
10:04Those gang members
10:05Those people who are taking homes
10:06That ought by right
10:07Go to the people in this room
10:09And your children
10:10And your grandchildren
10:11It's simple economics
10:13If you have fewer people
10:15Fewer illegal aliens
10:16Trying to buy homes
10:17That means American citizens
10:18Are going to finally be able to afford
10:20A home again
10:21It's very, very simple economics
10:23When you ask
10:24Why is it
10:25That we have
10:26Trillions of dollars
10:28Of new investment
10:29Coming into the United States of America
10:30Because we've finally got a president
10:32Who says
10:33If you're going to build in America
10:35If you're going to invest in America
10:36We're going to make it easy for you
10:38But if you're not going to build anything in America
10:40If you're going to try to ship an American job overseas
10:42Then we're going to penalize you
10:44For doing something overseas
10:46That you ought to do in the United States of America
10:48That's why we've got so much money coming in
10:50So if you look at every single affordability crisis
11:00That we talk about in the United States of America today
11:03It's because we inherited a nightmare of an economy from Joe Biden
11:08The highest peacetime debt and deficits
11:11In the history of the United States of America
11:13That blows the door off inflation
11:15The highest energy prices in the history of the United States of America
11:19We are in one of the great energy regions in the entire world
11:23Not just in America, in the entire world
11:25You know why energy prices are lower?
11:27You know why gas prices have come down so much?
11:30Because we finally got an American president
11:32Who wants to invest in American energy and American workers
11:36Instead of green energy boondoggles that are produced overseas
11:42Thank you
11:46So in all these things my point ladies and gentlemen
11:49Is that we are making progress
11:51And I never forget where I come from
11:53I never forget who I serve
11:55And I know that there is so much more progress to be made
11:58I remember my grandmother
12:00In times like this of the holidays
12:02Of course I think a lot of us remember the loved ones that we've lost
12:04I remember my dear mamaw
12:06That's what I called her
12:07And I was in a particularly hard math class in high school
12:11And she said, what do you need to do well in this class?
12:14My grades weren't so good
12:15And she went out even though she could not afford
12:18Even the essentials in life
12:19She went out and got me a calculator
12:21A very expensive calculator
12:23So that I could do well in this math class
12:25I remember what it feels like for American families
12:29When you have the government take $3,000 out of your pocket
12:33Through higher taxes and higher inflation
12:35I know what it's like for a woman
12:37Who's trying to support a grandson
12:39But can't afford her prescription drugs
12:41Because pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage
12:43Of the United States of America
12:45I remember what it's like when you have to choose
12:49Between putting food on the table
12:51Or getting the prescription that you need to stay healthy
12:53And that is not a life that Donald Trump or I want
12:57For the citizens in the greatest country in the world
12:59We want you
13:07We want you to be able to afford the things that you have to
13:11To give your kids and your grandkids a good life
13:13We want you to check your credit card statement
13:15And for that to be an annoyance
13:17Something you gotta do
13:19Rather than something that causes a lot of stress and anxiety
13:21We don't want a single parent or grandparent
13:25To have to look at their checking account
13:27And decide whether they're gonna buy food
13:29Or whether they're gonna buy medicine this month
13:31We are fighting for you every single day
13:33And I don't want you to think for one second
13:35That because Joe Biden gave us the worst economy in the world
13:39That we forget it
13:41No, we know
13:43We know exactly what we're left with
13:45We know exactly the consequences that it's caused
13:47For so many of our great families all across Pennsylvania
13:49And I promise you
13:51There is no person more impatient
13:53To solve the affordability crisis
13:55Than Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States
13:59You know, I hear these guys
14:05I hear these Democrats talk about this
14:07As if you were gonna fix these problems in a single day
14:11It reminds me of probably the third day in the Oval Office
14:14Where eggs had gotten so expensive under the Biden administration
14:18And look, I'm the Vice President of the United States
14:20I'm a very blessed man
14:22But we have three little kids who eat a lot of eggs
14:24And so I know the price of a dozen eggs
14:26So the price of eggs got really high during the Biden administration
14:29It was the third day in the White House
14:32And some reporter said
14:33What are you doing about the price of eggs?
14:35Haven't you seen they're so expensive?
14:37And the President's like
14:38Lady, we've been here for three days
14:40It takes a little bit of time
14:42To fix something that was so fundamentally broken
14:44And so when I hear the Democrats
14:46Talk about the affordability crisis that they created
14:49It's a little bit like, you know, Charles Manson criticizing violent crime
14:53Look in the mirror, my friend
14:55Look in the mirror, my friend
14:56You are the cause of the problem
14:57And Donald J. Trump's administration is the solution
15:00To the problem that you created
15:02I want to say one more thing here
15:10And then I want to take some questions from the reporters
15:12And then we'll have to hit the road
15:13But, you know, this is such an amazing time to be in Pennsylvania
15:17As much as I complain about the cold
15:20And I do
15:21As much as I almost busted my rear end on the tarmac today
15:25I love being in the great state of Pennsylvania
15:28During this time of year
15:29I love Christmas time
15:30I love the beautiful trees
15:35I love the snow on the hills
15:37I love everything about this state this time of year
15:40It reminds me a lot of my home state of Ohio
15:42For reasons that you all know well
15:44But here's the thing
15:45During this Christmas time
15:47I think that we got to remember
15:49That we have a lot in the United States of America
15:52To be grateful for
15:53And I am at the very top of the list
15:55Of people who have a lot to be grateful for
15:57I'm very grateful to my beautiful wife
15:59And our healthy kids
16:06I'm very grateful to have this job
16:08For the trust that all of you have put in me
16:10I'm very grateful that we have a president of the United States
16:13Who would literally take a bullet for this country
16:15And in fact actually did
16:20But I just ask all of you
16:24To count your blessings this holiday season
16:26Because there's a lot good out there
16:29There's a lot that we're still working to fix
16:31But I just wanted to say
16:32From the president of the United States
16:33From the entire administration
16:34My friends in Pennsylvania
16:36Merry Christmas to you
16:37I hope your families have a happy new year
16:39Thank you
16:46All right
16:52Thank you all
16:53Please sit down
16:54Sit down
16:55We're not done yet
16:56We're not done yet
16:57Please
16:58All right
16:59We're going to take a few questions
17:00From the reporters
17:01And we're going to start
17:02With the most egregious of the fake news
17:03Is that right Luke?
17:04No
17:05We're going to start with the local reporters
17:06Who have some integrity
17:07So let's start with our local cameraman
17:09And then we'll move on
17:10To the fake news
17:11If we have some time
17:12Sir
17:13Or ma'am
17:14Hi
17:15I'm Jackson White from WITF
17:16In Harrisburg
17:17Hey Jackson, how you doing?
17:18I'm good
17:19So many Americans are still reporting
17:21That they're experiencing high costs
17:22Of groceries and other living expenses
17:24How does the administration plan
17:26To lower those costs
17:27And how long might that take
17:28For them to experience those lower costs?
17:30Well, it's
17:33Jackson, I
17:35As I said earlier
17:36I think the best way
17:37To understand this is
17:38If the American people
17:39Had $3,000 taken out of their pocket
17:42It's going to take a little bit of time
17:44Before they really feel like
17:45That money's been put back in their pocket
17:47That just takes a lot of time
17:48It's a lot of work
17:49And I think the best way
17:50News nation
17:51As I'm sure you know
17:52Recent polling shows
17:54Most Americans don't approve
17:56Of how the Trump administration
17:57Is handling the economy
17:58I hear what you're saying
18:00That it's going to take time
18:01To fix things
18:02But the political reality
18:04Is that the midterms are next year
18:06Are you worried
18:07That affordability
18:09Is a political liability
18:10For your administration
18:11And for Republicans?
18:12Look, I'm not worried
18:13About the politics
18:14Because I believe
18:15Fundamentally
18:16In the wisdom
18:17Of the American people
18:18When we go out there
18:19And we tell our story
18:20That gasoline and energy
18:22Got way too high
18:23Under Joe Biden's administration
18:25But we've lowered
18:26The cost of energy
18:27The American people
18:28Will understand that
18:29The American people
18:30Know that
18:31When we go out there
18:32And talk about the fact
18:33That the affordability crisis
18:34That happened
18:35Under Joe Biden's administration
18:37Made a lot of Americans
18:38Poor and work working
18:39Every single day
18:40To put money back
18:41In their pocket
18:42I think the American people
18:43Will understand
18:44And agree with that
18:45Of course
18:46They're going to be the ones
18:47Who make the final decision
18:48But I feel very confident
18:49That if we keep wages high
18:51We keep energy prices low
18:52We keep on chipping away
18:54At the affordability crisis
18:55Created by Joe Biden's
18:57Administration
18:58Yes, I believe
18:59The American people
19:00Are going to reward us
19:01Because the American people
19:02Are smart
19:03They know Rome
19:04Wasn't built in a day
19:05They know what
19:06Joe Biden broke
19:07Is not going to get fixed
19:08In a week
19:09We've got to stay with it
19:10We've got to keep
19:11On working on
19:12Bringing good jobs
19:13And money back
19:14Into the United States
19:15Of America
19:16And that will
19:17It already has paid
19:18Major dividends
19:19For the American people
19:20It's going to pay a lot
19:21More in the year to come
19:22Thank you
19:23Thank you, Mr. Vice President
19:31This is Elizabeth Mitchell
19:32From The Daily Signal
19:33The health care bill
19:34Released Friday
19:36By the GOP
19:37Doesn't include
19:38Health savings accounts
19:39Are you comfortable
19:40With that
19:41And would you like
19:42To see the GOP
19:43Use the special
19:44Reconciliation process
19:45To address health care
19:46Costs
19:47And other affordability
19:48Concerns
19:49One of the things
19:50The president has said
19:51Is we have the weirdest
19:52Health insurance system
19:54In the world
19:55Where we tax money
19:57From all these great
19:58Americans out here
19:59And then we give
20:00Boatloads of money
20:01To the insurance companies
20:02Why don't we give that
20:03Money to the American people
20:05And let them buy insurance
20:07That works for them
20:08And their families
20:09I mean if you look
20:13At insurance company profits
20:15They have been skyrocketing
20:16Ever since Obamacare was passed
20:18The insurance companies
20:19Have done very well
20:20Under Obamacare
20:21You know who
20:22Hasn't done well
20:23Under the Obamacare system
20:24Of giving boatloads
20:25Of money to the American people
20:26All of you
20:27That's what's broken
20:29About this system
20:30It's good for insurance companies
20:31And bad for Americans
20:33We are trying to get to
20:34A health care policy
20:35That's good for Americans
20:36We don't care
20:37If the insurance companies
20:38Do well
20:39Great
20:40If they do poorly
20:41That's their problem
20:42We are here to fight
20:43For the American worker
20:44And make health insurance
20:45Affordable for them
20:46So we're going to keep
20:47On working at it
20:48You mentioned one piece
20:49Of legislation
20:50I've probably read
20:51A dozen different pieces
20:52Of legislation
20:53That are floating out there
20:54Again
20:55It's going to come
20:56To the point
20:57Where Republicans
20:58And Democrats
20:59Have to figure out
21:00What can be passed together
21:02Of course the president
21:03Is going to drive
21:04A lot of that process
21:05We're still reviewing
21:06Some of these legislative texts
21:07As they come up
21:08We believe
21:09That we can solve this problem
21:10But again
21:11The nature of our system
21:12We're going to work
21:13With Congress
21:14To make sure
21:15We get something
21:16That's good
21:17For the American people
21:18Through the Congress
21:19Thank you
21:20Thank you
21:23Mr. Vice President
21:24This is Irie Centner
21:25From Politico
21:27President Trump
21:28Last week
21:29Gave his economy
21:30A grade
21:31Of A++++
21:32What grade
21:33Would you give
21:34The economy today?
21:35A++++
21:36I
21:37I
21:38USA!
21:39USA!
21:40USA!
21:41USA!
21:42USA!
21:43USA!
21:44USA!
21:45USA!
21:46USA!
21:47USA!
21:48USA!
21:49USA!
21:50USA!
21:51USA!
21:52Here's the simple fact
21:53Of the matter
21:54Again
21:55You have to understand
21:56All of this stuff
21:57In context
21:58You have to ask yourself
22:00What has the Trump economy
22:01Been able to build
22:02Over the past 10 or 11 months
22:04Given what we inherited
22:05From the Biden administration
22:06Ladies and gentlemen
22:08We had the worst
22:09Inflation crisis
22:10In 50 years
22:11In the United States
22:12Of America
22:13Under Joe Biden
22:14We had the worst
22:15Trade deficit
22:16In the history
22:17Of the United States
22:18Under Joe Biden
22:19We had debt
22:20And deficits
22:21The highest
22:22In the history
22:23Of American peacetime
22:24In 250 years
22:26What we have been able
22:27To do
22:28Higher wages
22:29Lower inflation
22:30A massive amount
22:31Of investment
22:32And money coming
22:33To the United States
22:34Of America
22:35That stuff
22:36Is incredible
22:37And that is something
22:38To be proud of
22:39What I will say
22:40Is that given how bad
22:41Things got under
22:42The Biden administration
22:43We are going to keep
22:44On working every single day
22:45To make sure
22:46That Americans feel
22:47The benefits
22:48Of the Trump economy
22:50I am certain
22:51That again
22:52We've already seen
22:53Great benefits
22:54For the American people
22:55But we got a lot
22:56Of rebuilding to do
22:57Over the next three years
22:58And the president
22:59Is committed more
23:00Than anybody
23:01Thank you
23:06Hi there
23:07Vice President
23:08J.D. Vance
23:09This is Rob Manch
23:10With 69 News
23:11WFMZ
23:12The jobs report
23:13You mentioned this morning
23:14You said 60,000 jobs
23:15Were added in November
23:16However
23:17It also said
23:18100,000 jobs
23:19Were lost in October
23:20And the unemployment rate
23:21Currently stands at
23:224.6 percent
23:23Which is the highest
23:24Since the pandemic
23:25So my question is
23:26How do you inspire
23:27Companies to hire people
23:29If people don't have jobs
23:30Income tax cuts
23:31Aren't going to help them?
23:32Well first of all
23:34The idea that income tax cuts
23:36Don't help is ridiculous
23:37If more people
23:38Have more money
23:39To spend in their pocket
23:40That's good for businesses
23:41It's good for families
23:42It's good for everybody
23:43It's one of the ways
23:44Why we do this
23:45When you talk about
23:47100,000 jobs
23:48You're talking about
23:49Government sector jobs
23:51And that is
23:52That is in a lot of ways
24:00The entire story
24:01Of what we're trying to do
24:03Under President Trump's leadership
24:05We want to fire bureaucrats
24:07And hire these great Americans
24:08Out here
24:09That's what we're trying to do
24:10Now you mentioned
24:15This is an important point
24:16You mentioned the unemployment rate
24:18Ticking up to 4.6%
24:20I think this is a very, very important point
24:22Because you know what that means?
24:24What that data shows
24:26You got to get in the weeds a little bit
24:28The unemployment rate only counts
24:30The people who are looking for work
24:32So let's say you dropped out of work
24:34Two years ago
24:35You haven't been searching for a job
24:37Well you're unemployed
24:38But you're not counted
24:40In the official unemployment statistics
24:42What you're seeing
24:43As wages go up
24:45As more investment comes into our country
24:47Is that people
24:48Who weren't looking for work
24:50Under Biden's administration
24:51Are getting out there
24:52And looking for work
24:53In the Trump administration
24:54That's exactly what we want
24:56We want to get people off the sidelines
24:58And give them a good job
25:00With good pay
25:01And we're seeing a lot of evidence
25:03That that is happening
25:04Under President Trump's leadership
25:05We'll take one more question
25:12Mr. Vice President
25:14Jacob Bogage
25:15From the Washington Post
25:16It's good to see you
25:17Good to see you too
25:18Merry Christmas
25:19Thank you
25:20Same to you
25:21Unfortunately I have to ask
25:22A bit of an off-topic question
25:23From affordability
25:24Because news events do intervene
25:26And that is the interviews
25:27That White House Chief of Staff
25:28Susie Wiles gave to Vanity Fair
25:30In which she's quoted
25:32As referring to you as
25:34Excuse me
25:35And again not my words sir
25:36But a conspiracy theorist
25:38Of a decade
25:39And described your transformation
25:42From someone who once opposed
25:45President Trump
25:46To now his vice president
25:47As an act of political expediency
25:49And I'd like to give you
25:50The chance to respond to that sir
25:51Well first of all
25:53If Susie
25:56Like I'll trust what you said
25:59I haven't looked at the article
26:00I of course have heard about it
26:01But conspiracy theorist
26:03Sometimes I am a conspiracy theorist
26:05Sometimes I am a conspiracy theorist
26:06But I only believe in the conspiracy theories
26:08That are true
26:10And by the way
26:16Susie and I have joked in private and in public
26:18About that for a long time
26:20For example
26:21I believed in the crazy conspiracy theory
26:23Back in 2020
26:24That it was stupid to mask three year olds
26:27At the height of the covid pandemic
26:29That we should actually let them
26:31Develop some language skills
26:33You know I believed in this crazy conspiracy theory
26:36That the media and the government
26:39Were covering up the fact that Joe Biden
26:41Was clearly unable to do the job
26:42And I believed in the conspiracy theory
26:43That Joe Biden was trying to throw his political opponents in jail
26:44Rather than win an argument against his political opponents
26:45So
26:49At least on some of these conspiracy theories
26:51It turns out that a conspiracy theory
26:52Is just something that was true
26:53Six months before the media admitted it
26:55And that's my understanding
27:10Now look, I do want to say something about Susie though
27:15Because again, having not read this article
27:17Susie is a person I have come to know very, very well
27:20And you know, a lot of you probably know
27:22Ask yourself what is it like behind the scenes
27:25What's going on actually behind the scenes
27:26Of the Trump administration
27:27And I'll tell you
27:28The president is exactly in private
27:29Who he is in public
27:30Like I'll tell you a little story
27:32A few
27:33Maybe actually a week or so ago
27:35I walk into the Oval Office
27:36And Marco and I are sitting there
27:37Talking with the president
27:38About something
27:39He says stop
27:40And he looks at our shoes
27:41And says
27:42You guys have terrible shoes
27:43So he goes
27:44And says
27:45You guys have terrible shoes
27:46And he goes
27:47And says
27:48You guys have terrible shoes
27:49So he goes
27:51So he goes
27:52And gets a shoe catalog
27:53Now remember
27:54This is the Christmas season
27:55So the president's got some holiday cheer
27:57He goes and gets a shoe catalog
27:59And gets his favorite shoes
28:00And orders
28:01Like four pairs of shoes for me
28:04And four pairs of shoes for Marco
28:06Because he's like
28:07You know, we need our vice president
28:08Our secretary of state
28:09To look their very best
28:10And you know
28:11Then we went back to talking about
28:12Whatever major
28:13You know, international issue
28:14We were talking about
28:15Again
28:16He is exactly in private
28:18Who he is in public
28:19That's not true of most people
28:21In Washington D.C.
28:22It's not
28:23And I've seen so many people
28:25Who will say one thing
28:26To the president's face
28:27Democrats and Republicans
28:28And then will do the exact opposite
28:30Behind the scenes
28:31You know why I really
28:32You know what they are
28:34And you know why I really love Susie Wiles
28:36Because Susie is who she is
28:39In the president's presence
28:41She's the same exact person
28:43When the president isn't around
28:44I've never seen Susie Wiles
28:47Say something to the president
28:49And then go
28:50And counteract him
28:51Or subvert his will
28:53Behind the scenes
28:54And that's what you want
28:55In a staffer
28:56Because as much as I love Susie
28:58The American people
28:59Didn't elect any staffer
29:01They elected the president
29:02Of the United States
29:03And what you want
29:05And what you want in a staffer
29:10Is a person who understands
29:12They are there to effectuate
29:13The will of the American people
29:15And they're there to follow
29:17The orders of the duly elected
29:19Commander in Chief
29:20Of the United States
29:21And Susie Wiles
29:22We have our disagreements
29:24We agree on much more
29:25Than we disagree
29:26But I've never seen her
29:28Be disloyal to the president
29:29Of the United States
29:30And that makes her
29:31The best White House
29:32Chief of Staff
29:33That I think the president
29:34Could ask for
29:35And the last thing I'll say
29:42Is if any of us
29:43Have learned a lesson
29:44From that Vanity Fair article
29:46I hope that the lesson is
29:48We should be giving
29:49Fewer interviews
29:50To mainstream media outlets
29:51So
29:56So with that
29:57With that lesson
29:58Internalized
29:59I'm going to stop
30:00Taking questions
30:01And just leave you
30:02With one final note
30:03And again
30:04It's just a note of gratitude
30:05This is the coolest job
30:06I've ever had
30:07Agree with us
30:09Or disagree with us
30:10I'm sure that
30:11Every single person
30:12In this room
30:13Made something happen
30:15To get me to this job
30:16You went out there
30:17And voted
30:18Maybe you persuaded
30:19One of your relatives
30:20To vote
30:21Maybe even volunteered
30:22Or knocked on doors
30:23Or made phone calls
30:24For us
30:25I will never forget
30:26That my job
30:27Every single day
30:28Is to make it
30:29So that you guys
30:30Can have
30:31A safe and prosperous life
30:33In this country
30:34That all of us love
30:35We
30:36Thank you
30:37Thank you
30:38Thank you
30:39We inherited
30:40A mess
30:41Ladies and gentlemen
30:42I'm not going to sugarcoat it
30:43We inherited a mess
30:44But I think that
30:45In eleven months
30:46We have made great progress
30:47To making this
30:48A safer
30:49A more secure
30:50And a more prosperous nation
30:52Let's work for the next three years
30:54To do even more
30:55Great work for the American people
30:57And let's rebuild this country together
30:59God bless you all
31:00Merry Christmas

31:02To be continued
31:03To be continued
31:04To be continued
31:05To be continued
