00:00Hello, everybody.
00:03What a nice group of Democrats.
00:06We do.
00:08We have a lot of Democrats, and we welcome you.
00:10Honestly, we do.
00:11And I think we're going to start working together
00:14in healthcare.
00:14I really predict that.
00:15Aren't we you?
00:17Boy, I see some very friendly faces.
00:19I see some faces that are friendly,
00:21but they could be friendlier.
00:24But I think we're going to do great.
00:25And we've got a lot of good things to happen.
00:29We know our First Lady.
00:30She worked so hard on making this so beautiful.
00:34And the decorations.
00:35She's been given wonderful reviews for the trees
00:38and all of the Christmas decorations.
00:40So, thank you very much.
00:44So, we have a very special Congresswoman with us.
00:48Julia Letlow.
00:49Where is Julia?
00:52And it was just announced, and in fact,
00:54I just heard that she went to the dip room
00:58where she officially announced,
01:00with a very handsome man, her engagement.
01:02Okay?
01:04Where is Julia?
01:06Julia, where are you?
01:07Come on up.
01:09Julia.
01:10That's a big deal.
01:11Come on, Julia.
01:12Let's go, Julia.
01:14That's a big deal.
01:19That's bigger than — that transcends politics.
01:21Look at Julia.
01:22Oh, he's so lucky.
01:24He's the luckiest guy.
01:24He's a handsome guy, too.
01:26Hi, Julia.
01:29I'm so happy to be here.
01:30Congratulations.
01:31Let me see that ring.
01:34Oh, that's a nice ring.
01:36That's fantastic.
01:39You want to say something?
01:40Oh, no, sir.
01:41Huh?
01:42Well, yeah, go ahead.
01:44Thank you so much to the best president of my entire life,
01:47the entire United States of America.
01:53He's got a great, great woman.
01:57He's got a great woman.
01:58It's a fantastic couple.
01:59Thank you very much.
02:02So I want to just welcome everybody to the White House.
02:05It's a very special tradition.
02:10And it's interesting, because all other times —
02:12oh, look, I have my favorite congressman.
02:14How are you, congressman?
02:16You know, it's very interesting, because all other Christmas
02:21occasions, everyone is quiet.
02:24When there are all politicians in the room,
02:26they talk right through a speech, and that's okay.
02:28I don't mind that.
02:30But I want to welcome you all to the White House.
02:32It's an honor to have you.
02:33It's a special place.
02:35You know, for 150 years, they've been trying to do a ballroom.
02:38They never got it up, but we got it off.
02:40And in a very short period of time,
02:43like about a year and a half,
02:46you're going to have the best ballroom anywhere in the country,
02:48anywhere — it is special.
02:50And they're going to be able to —
02:51we'll be able to host this in a larger setting.
02:53However, it won't be the same.
02:56So I think we'll keep this the same way.
02:58But we really did. We had a fantastic turnout.
03:01We had 12 different parties,
03:04and they asked me to go to speak at every party.
03:06And I did. I spoke at every single party.
03:10Then they announced, because of the fact
03:11that they have so many people,
03:13it's 11 people are turned down for everyone that makes it.
03:17So it's a very good feeling.
03:18But I did 11.
03:20Then they said, sir, would you do two more?
03:22I did two more.
03:23And I said, did Biden do this, too?
03:25I don't think so.
03:27I would love it if he did.
03:29It would have been very interesting.
03:31But we have a lot of things happening.
03:35We have a congressional ball.
03:36We have so many different.
03:38But what we're really here to celebrate is Christmas.
03:40I want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas,
03:43a very Happy New Year, Happy Hanukkah.
03:46Whatever it may be, it's going to be happy.
03:48And we're going to have a fantastic year.
03:50We have a fantastic year coming up.
03:52You know, never in our country have we had investment
03:56like it's taken place over the last 10 months.
03:58We have $18 trillion plus already.
04:01And I think by the end of the year,
04:03it'll be over $20 trillion.
04:05That's more than any nation anywhere in the world
04:08at any time by quadruple, by quadruple.
04:13In the previous administration,
04:15just to give you a little fact, not to be hostile,
04:20but they had less than $1 trillion over four years.
04:23So we have 18.
04:24I think we'll have 20.
04:25But we have 18 over 10 months.
04:28So that's some, that's some number.
04:31And with that, and with that automatically comes jobs.
04:34And today, for the 52nd day,
04:38we hit an all-time stock market high.
04:40And that's great.
04:41And that means, that means 401 s.
04:44That means a lot of things are happening.
04:45It means jobs.
04:47And I think when the real numbers start coming out,
04:50and when the real pollsters start doing the polls,
04:53I think you're going to see some really fantastic numbers.
04:55And that's good for Republicans, frankly, and Democrats.
04:59I want to, again, thank our First Lady
05:02for working so hard on this.
05:03She's done so well.
05:05It's the, let's see, she's done it four times.
05:09This would be the fifth time.
05:11And I would say this is the best,
05:14although I like the red trees.
05:16She got criticized for the red trees.
05:18Then I liked the white trees,
05:20and she was criticized for the white trees.
05:23Then I liked the green trees, and she got criticized,
05:25and she went back to green, and they love it.
05:27So I don't know what's going on.
05:29I think this is a little bit of a different administration,
05:31maybe, than the first.
05:33But I want to thank all of the great people in the room,
05:35both Democrat and Republican,
05:38who worked so hard on behalf of our great nation.
05:42You're members of the greatest legislative body
05:45in the history of our country, history of the world, really.
05:48And we have the greatest nation anywhere in the world,
05:52and it's getting stronger, bigger, better.
05:55And I just want to thank you,
05:59because sometimes we don't work together,
06:00but we come up with great ideas together, and that is true.
06:03So tonight, we're going to set aside all political differences.
06:07We're not going to criticize each other.
06:09We're going to love each other.
06:11And we're going to come together not as Democrats and Republicans,
06:14but as fellow Americans, to give thanks for this nation,
06:18which is so great indeed.
06:20And it's a tremendous —
06:24I think it's a tremendous tribute that —
06:26I think it really is.
06:27I think it's a tremendous tribute
06:29that so many Democrats have joined us tonight.
06:32High-level.
06:33I know almost every single name on the list.
06:35It's a very impressive list, too, I must say.
06:38But let me also say a very special thanks
06:41to all of the spouses and loved ones here tonight.
06:44You make incredible sacrifices for us as politicians.
06:48I call myself now a politician.
06:50I never thought that was going to happen.
06:52I never thought that was going to happen, but it happened.
06:56But none of what we absolutely do, whatever,
07:00would be possible without you.
07:02And I want to thank my great wife,
07:04my great First Lady, for helping me.
07:07But every single one of you have been helped by your spouse.
07:11I want to also thank our really wonderful,
07:16great Vice President J.D. Vance, who's here.
07:19J.D., thank you.
07:22And Second Lady Usha Vance.
07:24Usha, thank you very much.
07:25Thank you, Usha.
07:28Also a man that a few of you might know,
07:30not very well, but you might know him.
07:33Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.
07:35Where's Mike?
07:35What a great job you're doing.
07:39What a great job.
07:40And most importantly, you have a wonderful, beautiful wife.
07:43Thank you very much.
07:44Say hello to the boys, okay?
07:46It's great to have you both.
07:48It was really, it's not easy to manage
07:51with a majority of three.
07:53But we've been up to seven, and we sort of veer back and forth.
07:57But he's done a job, and he gets along very well
08:00with the Democrats.
08:02Sometimes I would say he gets along too well.
08:03That bothers me.
08:05We also have Senate Majority Leader John Thune here.
08:08Where's John?
08:10Where is John?
08:11One of the really good, he's a good, thank you.
08:14Oh, wow, look at him.
08:16See, he always gives the best location to others.
08:19Thank you, John.
08:20Thank you for everything.
08:21You've done a great job.
08:22It's not easy, John.
08:24It's not easy.
08:25Thank you very much.
08:26House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.
08:30Where is Steve?
08:33Where is Steve, Mr. Speaker?
08:35I'll tell you what.
08:36You know, I always say he's got great courage
08:38because he got hit real hard.
08:41He got hit harder than I got hit.
08:43I got hit too, but I got little.
08:44You know, I have a throbbing feeling.
08:46He had much more than a throbbing feeling.
08:48In fact, I went to the hospital,
08:51and they actually thought he wasn't going to make it.
08:53His wife was devastated.
08:55She was crying.
08:56I tell this story.
08:58I found out that night.
08:59You have a wife that loves you dearly.
09:01I know many wives would not even be crying.
09:03But your wife, your wife was absolutely a mess.
09:08She was crying.
09:09She was inconsolable, Steve.
09:12So we found that out, but he made it.
09:14And then he went about four months later.
09:16He could barely walk.
09:17He went and he played second base in the game
09:20between the you, between you people, right?
09:24Republicans and Democrats.
09:26He could barely walk.
09:27He could barely stand.
09:28He was not going to be the great Bobby Richardson,
09:31all-star second baseman of the New York Yankees
09:33for 15 years.
09:35And this could only happen by God.
09:38A shot was hit to him so hard.
09:41I said, oh, no.
09:43And it went right at him.
09:44He fell to his knees, which was his only option
09:47because he couldn't bend.
09:48This was not a good-looking picture.
09:50He knocked down the ball, picked it up,
09:53could barely grab it, threw it to first base.
09:56The runner, who was actually a very good Democrat athlete,
09:59was out.
10:01And I said that, and I said, and I've told this,
10:05that was a miracle.
10:07That was a miracle.
10:08And then, brilliantly, after one hitter,
10:10the manager took him out of the game.
10:13Because there was no way that he was going to outdo that one.
10:17So, Steve, it's great that you're here.
10:18And we love you, Steve.
10:19And you went through a lot.
10:21Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a fantastic guy
10:24with a fantastic spouse.
10:27Where is Tom?
10:28Tom is a great guy.
10:31I don't know what you're going to do about Minnesota.
10:34Where?
10:35Oh, there he is.
10:38He's a handsome devil, isn't he?
10:41With an unbelievable wife, who puts up with a lot of stuff.
10:46She does not have an easy job, Tom.
10:48You are a difficult man.
10:52And Tom is very friendly with the Somalians, you know?
10:55He's doing a great job.
10:57He's a big fan.
10:59He's a big fan of Somalia.
11:02Anyway, he said, please correct that.
11:05The President of Paul, President of Paul.
11:07Thank you, Tom, very much.
11:09Thank you, he's a great guy, he's done a fantastic job.
11:12And we really appreciate it.
11:14And you have so many members of the House and the Senate,
11:18but I just want to thank a few of them.
11:19And I really, I do mean it.
11:21I think it's fantastic that we're all here together tonight.
11:24We have cabinet members, and we have Marco is here.
11:28Scott Bessent is here.
11:29We got them all sort of here, every single one.
11:32I won't call them out because they're not names
11:35that are going to get huge applause from this very substantially Democrat audience.
11:40But you know what?
11:40They're working, they're working toward making America great again.
11:44It's very simple.
11:45We are making America great again.
11:47I saw it today on a somewhat leftish broadcast.
11:54They were saying, you know, whether you like it or not,
11:56these numbers are starting to get very good, and they are.
11:58And that's good for all of us.
11:59But during the season of joy and peace, we have so much to celebrate as a nation.
12:05Because one year ago, we really were.
12:06We were a country that was in serious trouble.
12:09There were those that say we were a country that was really not going to make it.
12:13And they were saying, we were not going to make it.
12:16Now we have the hottest country anywhere in the world.
12:18They're all saying it.
12:19Other leaders are saying it.
12:20The European nations are saying it.
12:22The European nations are reporting that your president might as well be the leader
12:28of the European nations also.
12:29They listen to us and they respect us like they've never respected us before.
12:34So we're going to work very hard.
12:35We get along with them.
12:37We want to get along with as many nations as we can.
12:40We've been ripped off by a lot of them for a lot of years.
12:42And frankly, a lot of the Democrats knew that better than some of the Republicans.
12:47But we've been ripped off and taken advantage of by friend and foe.
12:51And in many cases, friend was worse than foe, but not anymore.
12:56We have I don't know if you noticed the the deficit was cut down by 64 percent.
13:05Nobody's ever heard of a number like that.
13:06You know why?
13:07A thing called tariffs.
13:08The tariffs are so big and so substantial.
13:12And it was just announced two weeks ago, the deficits cut down by nobody ever heard
13:15of a number like that.
13:16If the deficit goes down by 2 percent, it's like a great thing.
13:20The tariffs have reduced the deficit by 64 percent.
13:23Nobody has ever seen and frankly, we haven't even started yet.
13:27It's given us strength.
13:29We've solved eight wars.
13:30Think of it.
13:31Eight wars have been solved.
13:32Although Thailand and Cambodia, I think I'm going to have to make a couple of phone
13:36calls on Thailand and we'll get that one back on track.
13:41But think of it.
13:42We've solved eight wars that's never happened.
13:44And more Americans are working today than ever before.
13:48The history of our country, we've never had anything like it.
13:51We have more Americans working today than at any time by far in the history of our country.
13:58And 100 percent of all new jobs have been created, 100 percent created in the private
14:04sector.
14:05I mean, that's a big factor, right, Virginia, right?
14:11Also just announced real wages are up for the typical worker by more than $1,000 a year.
14:18That's a record, $1,000 a year.
14:21And many of you in Congress worked very hard, both sides, this year to keep the promises
14:27that you were elected on and to deliver big wins for the American people.
14:32And Democrats worked very hard, too.
14:34I mean, I think you could get rid of a couple of your little policies like men and women's
14:39sports, open borders, transgender for everybody.
14:41But other than that, other than that, I like what you're doing.
14:46You passed the largest tax cuts in American history.
14:49We all did that.
14:51We passed the largest spending cuts in American history.
14:54And we have the largest regulation cuts by far in American history.
14:59All of these things we just passed.
15:01You passed the Lake and Riley Act to get criminal aliens off the streets so they don't kill our
15:06people, hurt our people, mug our people, slice up our people, which is what they did.
15:11They're not doing it so much because crime is way down.
15:15And you passed the Genius Act to unleash a new era of financial innovation.
15:21And on a bipartisan basis, working with a woman named Melania.
15:27Have you heard of Melania?
15:31But working with our great first lady, you passed the Take It Down Act to protect our
15:37nation's youth from some horrible people.
15:42And I think, I'm not sure, that was — this is hard to believe.
15:46I believe this is correct.
15:47It was just about a unanimous vote to which I said, maybe you should be doing my job because
15:53I don't get one vote.
15:55You know that it was — was it — did anybody vote against it?
15:59Even Rand Paul voted for it, right?
16:01Because Rand Paul is an automatic no vote.
16:05He's not a Democrat vote, but he's an automatic no.
16:08Everybody voted.
16:09I think it was just about unanimous.
16:10I can't believe it.
16:11She came home.
16:12I said, I heard you got a unanimous vote.
16:14Yeah.
16:15She looks at me like, you know, what was the big deal?
16:18But that was a great thing that she did and a great thing that all of you did.
16:21Very soon, I'll hopefully be signing a National Defense Authorization Act that makes a historic
16:27investment in the United States military, which I think most people want to see.
16:33And I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the coming year to make
16:37our nation stronger, safer, wealthier, healthier.
16:41And I really believe we can work on healthcare together and come up with something that's going
16:44to be much better, much less expensive for the people, less expensive for our nation,
16:51but really, most importantly, better and less expensive for the people.
16:55And we have an idea that rather than making these massive payments where they, you know,
17:00their stocks went up 1,700 percent over a short period of time, the insurance companies,
17:05we make beautiful, big payments directly to the people and they buy their own health insurance.
17:12And it's so good and so popular and everybody wants it.
17:18And I think, frankly, I think a lot of the Democrats are going to want it too.
17:21It's been a very popular ever since I uttered those words about a month ago.
17:25It's been very, very popular.
17:27So hopefully we can get that done together.
17:29So I want to just say in closing, have a fantastic, you're going to have a fantastic evening.
17:34This food is unbelievable.
17:36The White House is known for great food and it's better than that.
17:40It's a great house. It's a special, special place.
17:43You know, I've had a lot of nice houses, but I have to tell you this house, it's just special.
17:48It's one of the reasons that every one of these events, all of them, are packed, sold out, waiting room.
17:55They're begging to come.
17:56People love the White House and people love our country.
17:59And we love the Republicans and we love the Democrats, so we love everybody else.
18:04We love everybody, especially tonight.
18:06Now, tomorrow I'll have to deny I ever said that, but that's okay.
18:10So I want to thank you.
18:11Maybe our First Lady would like to say something.
18:14Good evening.
18:19Welcome to the White House.
18:21As the President said, our greatest triumph in my office, in the First Lady office in 2025, is take a down act.
18:34I want to, I appreciate all of your support.
18:38I appreciate your bipartisan, overwhelmingly bipartisan support, and across the House and the Senate.
18:48Thank you, Mr. Speaker Johnson.
18:51And I hope you will be excited to support my new legislative initiative in 2026.
19:01Some of you already know about it because it's already in the works.
19:05Thank you very much.
19:06I wish you and your families a very happy and Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.
19:18Well, I just heard about that for the first time.
19:20The only thing I can tell you, I know one thing for sure, Mr. Speaker, it's going to be great.
19:26It's going to be great for children.
19:28Okay.
19:29I don't know what it is she's doing, but I know it's going to be great for children because she loves children.
19:35And she's, she's got a wonderful boy and she's very proud of her boy, but she loves children.
19:42And if she, if she puts it out, it'll be maybe unanimous again or whatever that was, but very close, unanimous again.
19:48I want to thank you all have a great Christmas, a great Hanukkah and a fantastic year.
19:53But we're going to have a great three years, four years, 10 years.
19:56We're going to make it great.
19:57Our country is, our country is going to be strong, safe, rich.
20:01It's going to be great.
20:02We're going to make America great again.
20:04Thank you, everybody.
20:05Thank you very much.
