U.S. President Donald Trump defended the continued presence of American troops in Syria, saying it is aimed at maintaining peace and stability across the Middle East. Trump praised Syria’s new leadership as “strong,” calling the developments in the war-torn country “amazing.” He claimed that forces blocking peace had been removed and asserted that the region is witnessing “legitimate peace for the first time in 3,000 years,” backed by dozens of countries. Trump also referenced Hamas, saying regional actors are willing to act if necessary, as debates continue over U.S. military involvement and Middle East security.

00:00We're trying to make sure that there's going to be and remain peace in the Middle East
00:04and Syria is a big part of it.
00:07The new leader is a strong person and that's what you need.
00:12This is a rough part of the world and we've, it's been amazing what's taken place in Syria.
00:20We got rid of Assad.
00:22We got rid of other people that were really bad people and that we're in the way of peace
00:26in the Middle East.
00:27We have legitimate peace in the Middle East, first time in 3,000 years.
00:32And we have 59 countries backing it.
00:35And we'll see what happens with Hamas.
00:38We'll see what happens with Hezbollah.
00:40But regardless, I mean, we have countries that want to go in and clean that out if we want
00:46them to do it.
00:47But they said in the case of Hamas, they said that they're going to disarm and we're going
00:51to find out whether or not that's true.
00:54Hezbollah in Lebanon has been a problem.
00:57We'll see what happens there.
00:58But there is legitimate large-scale peace in the Middle East.
01:03And if there weren't, we wouldn't have been able to make all of those deals that we've
01:07made with the various countries.
01:08They would have never been able to do that.
01:10If, for instance, if Iran, if we didn't, with that B-2 bomber right there on the desk,
01:16if we didn't, of which we just ordered a lot more of the newer version, totally stealth.
01:23They could not see it.
01:24They knew it was coming.
01:25They had no idea where it was.
01:26It was pretty amazing, actually.
01:28Every bomb hit its mark perfectly, despite CNN trying to say differently.
01:33They didn't know.
01:34They just, you know, hoped.
01:35They hoped that we didn't.
01:36But it turned out that they did.
01:38Atomic Energy Commission confirmed it.
01:40So did, actually, so did Iran confirm it.
01:43They got knocked to hell, but if we didn't knock out their nuclear capability, we would
01:48have never had peace in the Middle East, because you would have had a dark cloud hanging over
01:53Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and all the other countries, and they would have never, ever been
01:58able to sign an agreement.
01:59Yeah, please.
02:00How soon do you expect that international stabilization force to be up and running in Gaza?
02:06I think that it's — in a form, it's already running.
02:09In a very strong form, it's already.
02:11But it'll get stronger and stronger, and more and more countries are coming into it.
02:15They're already in.
02:16But they'll send — they'll send any number of troops that I ask them to send.
02:20They want to see peace.
02:22We have more than 59 countries.
02:24We have many countries that aren't even in the Middle East, but they're fairly close
02:28to the Middle East.
02:29They — they want to be involved.
02:31So, it's been pretty amazing.
02:32Friday?
02:33Mr. President.
02:34This week, a man named Keoni Rodriguez is going to federal prison for creating crypto-privacy
02:39software.
02:40The case was started under the Biden administration, but your DOJ — DOJ kept it going and secured
02:46the conviction.
02:47A lot of people in crypto are saying that this man should be pardoned.
02:50Are you familiar with the case at all, or would you be interested in looking at —
02:52I've heard about it, and I'll look at it.
02:54Why, you think you should be pardoned?
02:55The President.
02:56Sounds like it.
02:57Sounds like — based on your question.
02:58The President.
02:59The President.
03:00The President.
03:01The President.
03:02Rodriguez.
03:03We'll look at that, Pam.
03:04Okay?
03:05Let's take a look at it.
03:06You know?
03:07You'll have to tell me.
03:08I don't know anything about it, but we'll take a look.
03:09On Friday?
03:10Yeah, please.
03:11Mr. President.
03:12Market analysts are calling for a Santa rally.
03:14Typically, it's five trading days going into Christmas.
03:17And the first two trading days in January, that's a sign of market optimism.
03:20Do you anticipate, along with the historical low gas prices, is that continuing into the
03:25first quarter of the year?
03:26Well, we've had the greatest stock market in history, Brian.
03:28We have a stock market that's gone up 52 times to new highs during a 10-month period.
03:35My 10 months.
03:36You know, my first 10 months, we set a record — 52 days.
03:40We had the highest stock market in history, including a day ago.
03:45And I didn't look today.
03:47Maybe it's up today.
03:48I don't know.
03:49But we had 52 altogether.
03:52And there's never been anything like it.
03:55And the reason are the tariffs have brought vast amounts of wealth into our country.
04:01That countries that have taken our car companies — those car companies are all coming back.
04:07The AI is coming at levels that nobody's ever seen before.
04:10That's going to be a massive industry.
04:12Without the tariffs, we wouldn't have that.
04:15Chips are coming in.
04:17Chip companies are coming in from Taiwan and other places, but mostly from Taiwan, which
04:22has almost 100 percent of the market.
04:25And we're now making chips.
04:27And we're not paying anything.
04:29It's not the CHIPS Act, where they give billions of dollars to companies and then they just take
04:33the money and they run.
04:35That was under Biden.
04:37The fact that I set tariffs up and that if they don't make their chips here, they have
04:41to pay a big tariff in order to send them into the U.S.
04:44They have to be here.
04:45You know, tariffs really work, in my opinion, almost only in the United States.
04:51They've been used against us successfully because we had presidents that had no clue.
04:57But tariffs really work.
04:59We have taken in hundreds of billions of dollars with tariffs.
05:03And more importantly, we've taken in countries and companies where — and even countries — have
05:10sent their car-making people into the United States in order to avoid paying tariffs.
05:17And they'll build a plant and they'll hire our people to make the cars.
05:21But we now have — as you know, Toyota just approved $10 billion in manufacturing plants in
05:29the United States using our people.
05:31Without tariffs, none of that would have happened.
05:34Tariffs have given us great national security.
05:38There is nothing like what's happened in the last 10 months.
05:42Tariffs have given us tremendous national security and tremendous wealth.
