U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States is working to help ease tensions between Thailand and Cambodia, alongside ongoing discussions with European leaders over the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump said he held a “very good conversation” with multiple European leaders, including those from Poland, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands, and also spoke with Ukraine’s president about security protocols related to the conflict with Russia.

Referring to Southeast Asia, Trump said Thailand and Cambodia had been “having a tough time” and that efforts were underway to get the situation “straightened out.”

The comments highlight Washington’s engagement in both European and Asian security issues amid ongoing global diplomatic efforts.

00:00Thank you very much.
00:01Appreciate it.
00:03We had a very good conversation one hour ago
00:07with the European leaders, many of them,
00:10involving the war with Russia and Ukraine.
00:14We were — we had a long discussion,
00:18and things are seemingly going well,
00:20but we've been saying that for a long time,
00:22and it's a difficult one.
00:25We had, as you know, settled eight wars,
00:27and one was having a little problem yesterday,
00:30Thailand and Cambodia.
00:31We were able to straighten that out.
00:33There was some killing going on
00:36that shouldn't have happened,
00:37and we appreciate them working to get it straightened out,
00:40and they have.
00:42The security protocols yesterday were amazing,
00:46and they have been amazing,
00:48having to do with Russia and Ukraine.
00:50And I had a long talk with President Zelensky.
00:55Also, I spoke with the heads of Germany, Italy,
00:59NATO, Finland, France, the United Kingdom,
01:04Poland, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
01:07We had very long and very good talks.
01:10And again, I think things are going along pretty well.
01:16Twenty-seven thousand soldiers were killed last month.
01:20Shouldn't happen.
01:21Should have never happened.
01:22Should have never started.
01:23Should have never, ever started.
01:26But it did, and we're trying to get it solved.
01:28That was Biden's situation.
01:30We're trying to get it done.
01:33And I think we're closer now.
01:35And they will tell you that they're closer now.
01:38We had numerous conversations
01:40with President Putin of Russia.
01:43And I think we're closer now than we have been ever.
01:46And we'll see what we can do.
01:48We want to save a lot of lives.
01:49You know, we sell equipment to NATO.
01:50We don't spend any money.
01:52But we do want to see if we can save a lot of lives.
01:56When you're losing 25,000 to 30,000 soldiers,
02:00mostly soldiers, other people, too, from towns.
02:04And like places like Kiev, various other places
02:08throughout Ukraine.
02:10It's pretty bad.
02:11Nobody's seen anything like it, actually, since World War II.
02:15But we're getting closer.
02:18We're having tremendous support from European leaders.
02:23They want to get it ended, also.
02:25And at this moment, Russia wants to get it ended.
02:28The problem is they'll want to get it ended,
02:31and then all of a sudden, they won't.
02:32And Ukraine will want to get it ended,
02:34and all of a sudden, they won't.
02:36So we have to get them on the same page.
02:38But I think that's working along.
02:40Very good talk.
02:42One day, one of my administration, I signed an executive order
02:45making it a core mission of the United States military
02:49to protect and defend their homeland.
02:51And today, we're here to honor our military men and women
02:54for their central role in the protection of our border,
02:58something that I campaigned very, very strongly on.
03:02And they made me look really good.
03:03They were unbelievable.
03:04They made us all look good.
03:07I mean, we went from having millions of people
03:10pouring over our border to having none
03:12in the last eight months, none.
03:14In a few moments, we'll officially recognize their service.
