00:05along the Brian Lara promenade today as part of ongoing efforts to manage
00:09parking and vending in the capital. Speaking during the exercise, Mayor Arlene
00:14said the cooperation is taking a measured approach to enforcement, allowing
00:18motorists time to adjust while encouraging responsible parking.
00:24Parking enforcement has been going very well. We've been taking our time in terms of
00:28pleasing implementation, ensuring that we give the public an opportunity to adjust their behavior.
00:34We don't want to be too heavy-handed in terms of our enforcement activity."
00:38Mayor Arlene also revealed that during the first week of enforcement, at least 133 vehicles were removed.
00:47On vending and economic activity, the Mayor stressed that vendors are legitimate entrepreneurs
00:53who play a vital role in the city's economy. He also highlighted preparations for the
00:58corporation's annual Christmas activities, which will be hosted at the Brian Lara promenade this year.
01:04What you see being set up here actually is our Christmas vending activity that we have every year.
01:09It's previously happened in Woodfoot Square, but it's happening on the Brian Lara promenade this year.
01:14So we're asking the public to come down to the promenade and support that activity."
