00:00If you walked along the Brian Lara promenade any day this week, you would have noticed the absence of street vendors.
00:06This is because the mayor of Port of Spain has decided to tighten up on illegal street vending.
00:11TV6 cameraman Shiva Parisram spoke to Leticia Norega, owner of Shelly's Doubles, who was arrested by city police and released earlier this week.
00:23So we are in a program with Port of Spain Corporation where we pay to vend every month.
00:29We pay them a fee every month to vend.
00:33I'm the only, well, it seems like I'm the only vendor here now that has paid until July.
00:38So the vendors who are not here are those who haven't paid.
00:44I have been paid up to date.
00:47However, she had this message for the relevant authorities.
00:51They need to sort out themselves because there's a miscommunication between the city police and the Port of Spain Corporation.
00:57Between both of them and understanding, the Port of Spain Corporation said that we need to be up to date in our payments.
01:07And still we are up to date in our payments and city police have not given us a hearing for that.
