00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our favorite moments from the Fallout
00:11TV series.
00:12There will be some spoilers ahead for the finale.
00:18Number 10.
00:19The Great War
00:20Until Fallout 4, we'd never seen the Great War with our own eyes, but that game opened
00:25with the bombs falling on Boston as people descended into Vault 111.
00:28To bring everybody up to speed, the TV show also opened with the war itself.
00:41As rich people gather to watch television, Janie Howard notices a mushroom cloud blossoming
00:46in the distance.
00:49Cooper briefly thinks it's a fire before the penny drops.
00:58Everybody runs for their lives as atomic fire strikes Los Angeles, with bombs erupting
01:02in every direction, dosing Cooper with enough radiation to turn him into a ghoul.
01:06The war lasted for only two hours, destroying the old world in less than a day.
01:11Number 9.
01:12Our three leads meet early on as they all arrive in Philly, a small town somewhere in California.
01:26Max wants Wilsig because the Brotherhood does, the ghoul wants Wilsig because there's a huge
01:30bounty on his head, while Lucy just wants to find her dad, which involves delivering Wilsig
01:34into the arms of Muldaver.
01:40The ghoul cements his status as a new iconic Fallout character by triggering a huge shootout,
01:45with everybody trying to claim the bounty on Wilsig's head.
01:52He even holds his own against Max when he arrives in Titus' stolen power armor, which is certainly
02:00impressive.
02:02Number 8.
02:03Arriving at Vault 4.
02:04Lucy still has an idealistic view of the vaults, while back in Vault 33, Norm is slowly unraveling
02:13the truth about Vault-Tec.
02:15Fans of the games will already know that nothing is as it seems where Vault-Tec is concerned,
02:19but Lucy learns this along with the franchise's newcomers.
02:28The first clues that something is wrong in Vault 4 are the strange mutations the inhabitants
02:32have.
02:33A human cyclops, and people with extra ears and noses aren't the standard mutations
02:37people in the wasteland get, and she begins to investigate.
02:47It's one of the show's funniest moments, and it's no wonder we saw a bunch of Vault 4 scenes
02:51in the trailers.
02:52And grabbed a moldy one.
02:55Number 7.
02:56The Ghoul Wakes Up.
02:58After seeing Cooper ride his horse through LA as the bombs fall, we don't see him again
03:01until the end of the first episode, when he rises from the grave.
03:05This is the first real introduction to mutants we have in the series, though other notable
03:19mutant races like the Super Mutants don't appear, as the Ghoul is awakened.
03:23It's a classic Western moment as they try to bargain with him, and Cooper, now extremely
03:31jaded and cynical after 200 years roaming the Wastes, delivers one-liner after one-liner.
03:36Well, I tell you what, boys, whenever somebody says they do one last job, that usually means
03:45their heart's not in it.
03:46Fallout's West Coast games have always taken inspiration from Westerns, and the Ghoul's
03:50entire character is an homage to that.
03:55The Wasteland is a dangerous place, and there are plenty of groups who want to break into
04:12the vaults to make use of their safety and the luxuries they provide.
04:20This is what initially appears to have happened in the first episode, though we won't spoil
04:24what's actually going on.
04:31Vault 33 is part of a trio of vaults, and they're exchanging dwellers with Vault 32 to
04:36maintain genetic diversity.
04:37One of these dwellers is destined to marry Lucy.
04:40It's not until much later, though, after they've tried to tie the knot, that she realizes he's
04:43a raider after her Geiger counter reads him as being radioactive.
04:47A gruesome fight breaks out between the dwellers and the raiders.
04:58Number 5, Cooper's Commercial.
05:01Yep, it's me, Cooper Howard, star of stage and screen.
05:05We see Vault-Tec information reels and branding throughout the games, with Fallout 2 opening
05:09with a Vault-Tec video explaining what life on the surface will be like.
05:12But it was fascinating to finally see some Vault-Tec propaganda in live action as Cooper becomes
05:17the company's public face because of his wife's job as an executive.
05:19He takes us through Vault 4 and introduces us to a group of scientists who will be in charge
05:33of the vault.
05:34Of course, we later find out that this doesn't go well for them, which is hardly surprising.
05:48We also learn that even before the war, many people were suspicious of Vault-Tec.
05:52Fellas, are you happy?
05:55Number 4, Snip Snip.
05:57In exchange for the mysterious yellow liquid Cooper needs so that he doesn't turn feral,
06:02he decides to sell Lucy to a group of organ dealers living in an abandoned super-duper-mart.
06:05I'd say you've lost a finger.
06:07Ah, that won't do at all.
06:10Let's get you taken care of.
06:12Follow me.
06:13Initially, she thinks she's there to receive medical treatment and is greeted by a surprisingly
06:17friendly Mr. Handy robot named Snip Snip, voiced by Matt Barry.
06:20I'm simply going to harvest your organs.
06:24Huh?
06:25Though he repairs her hand with a new finger, he then announces that she's going to serve
06:28an entirely different purpose.
06:30Snip Snip, tell them what a Braxo does to the human body.
06:33If you've got a clog that's full of muck, trust a Braxo draining fluid to get it unstuck.
06:39It's very poisonous.
06:41Lucy is able to defeat Snip Snip and then use a syringer, a gun you can craft in Fallout
06:464, full of a Braxo drain cleaner to bargain her way to freedom.
06:50Number 3.
06:51The Meeting
06:52In the final episode, we learn the truth of how the Great War started.
06:55According to the show's interpretation, it was begun by America's large corporations,
06:59summoned to a sinister meeting by Vault-Tec's executives.
07:02We have over a hundred vaults spread across America.
07:06They met with the heads of other recognizable companies in the Fallout world, West Tech,
07:10Robco, Repcon, and Big Mountain, to decide that actually, total nuclear annihilation is
07:15going to be more profitable for them than allowing peace negotiations to go through.
07:19But we're talking about making a significant investment based on a hypothetical.
07:25How can you guarantee results?
07:26By dropping the bomb ourselves.
07:30Vault-Tec also distributes control of its vaults among these companies to conduct their
07:34twisted experiments.
07:43Gamers will recognize Mr. House as the face of Robco, but also Frederick Sinclair representing
07:48Big MT, a deep cut from New Vegas' DLC.
07:51Call this what it is, bud.
07:54Your sales aren't up to snuff, and you need money.
07:57You're one to talk, Freddy boy.
07:59You could lose money running a casino.
08:01Number 2.
08:02The Gulper
08:03Our first taste of Fallout's notorious mutant fauna was when the Yao Gui attacked Titus and
08:07Maximus.
08:08But a more interesting mutant appears later, the Gulper.
08:11Gulpers appeared as enemies for the first time in Fallout 4's Far Harbor DLC, but here,
08:15they're much more formidable.
08:25This mutant Axolotl initially appears when it attacks Lucy and steals Wilsick's head,
08:30which leads to the Ghoul using her as bait to lure it out.
08:35They don't manage to retrieve the head at this point, with Max and Thaddeus arriving
08:38soon after to track the same thing.
08:39It attacks them and they manage to defeat it, though another Gulper later appears in Vault
08:444.

09:02The Final Showdown
09:03Tomorrow, so they say, will be a lovely day.
09:10The final battle is between the Brotherhood of Steel and LA's remnants of the New California
09:14Republic, as Lucy simultaneously tries to deal with the leader, Moldaver, in exchange for
09:19her father's life.
09:24The charge is led by Maximus, who's been forgiven by the Brotherhood for Titus' death.
09:28We've had plenty of vintage needle drops throughout the series, borrowing licensed tracks from the
09:32game radios, but this one hits different.
09:38The Brotherhood outmatched their enemies with advanced armor and weaponry, and battle in
09:41slow motion, and we finally get to see what the knights are capable of in large numbers,
09:46setting the stage for Season 2.
09:49And we'll see you next time.
10:01Did you enjoy this video?
10:06Let's go.
