00:00I want to be a model maker because Star Wars was all about the models, but that kind of has
00:06died off.
00:06But then blowing up the spaceships was fun looking too, so here I am.
00:19I learned how to weld on the job, I learned how to do pyrotechnics on the job, I learned how
00:23to do rigging on the job.
00:24There's really no school for what I do, it's better to learn just by doing, and watching, keep your eyes
00:31open, ask questions.
00:35I'm a purist, 100%, a special effects purist.
00:39And then the actors can react to it better, things are exploding around them, they're actually done.
00:45For me it works better if you can do as much practically as possible, for the whole look of the
00:51show.
00:53We blew up a car in front of the Black Rock Hotel.
00:55I've blown up a lot of cars, but the reason it was my favorite is that there was a convention
00:59going on at the hotel.
01:01Watching from their windows as we're blowing up the car, and once the car exploded, there was a huge round
01:06of applause, that was really fun.
01:09So you play on it as best as you can, the hardest part is, we're at 7,000 feet here
01:13in Park City,
01:14and we're climbing up mountains and carrying stuff covered with like burrs and all kinds of stuff at the end
01:19of the day.
01:20That was really fun.
01:22There's no problems, only solutions.
01:24And we all collaborate to come up with the best solution to get the shot.
