A frontline paramedic has described being hit by a car and fearing a terrorist attack during the aftermath of Liverpool’s victory parade. His account offers a stark insight into how emergency services responded as crowds were injured and treated in the city centre.

00:00A paramedic who was knocked over at the Liverpool parade crash said he saw Paul Doyle's car come back towards him and believed he was in the middle of a terrorist incident.
00:10Jay Vernon was on duty as a cycle response paramedic for Northwest Ambulance Service in Liverpool City Centre on the 26th of May when he was called to a reported cardiac arrest in Water Street just after the victory parade had ended.
00:23As he walked ahead of an ambulance he was struck from behind by a car driven by Paul Doyle.
