00:01An ambulance worker has been praised for confronting an armed man to protect two
00:05women in southwest London. Luke Rappello was driving in Battersea when a distressed woman
00:10ran into the road in front of his vehicle, screaming for help. After stopping, he was
00:15threatened by a man holding a large kitchen knife who said he would kill him. Hearing another woman
00:20was inside, he followed the man into the house and tried to calm him down. He kept him talking
00:26until police arrived and arrested him. The London Ambulance Service says his actions were
00:32exceptionally brave in an extremely dangerous situation. Mr Rappello, who joined the service
00:38around a year ago, has since been formally commended.
