00:00An ambulance crew was given permission to refuel while responding to an emergency call an inquest
00:07has heard. Peter Coates died after struggling to breathe when his oxygen machine failed during a
00:13power cut in March 2019. Paramedics told Teesside Coroner's Court they believed their ambulance
00:19was low on fuel and refueled while on the way, but the vehicle actually still had around half a
00:25tank. There was a further delay finding a key safe at his home. The inquest also heard an earlier
00:32ambulance couldn't leave its station because gates jammed during the power cut. The inquest heard
00:38that Mr Coates waited 47 minutes for help to arrive. The inquest has adjourned to a later time.
