Police confirmed two active improvised explosive devices were discovered near Bondi Beach following the terror attack that left at least 16 people dead, escalating fears as officers secured the scene and launched a major counter-terror response.

00:00Two bombs have been found near Bondi Beach after father and son Sarjid and Naveed Akram carried out a terror attack that killed at least 16 people and injured dozens more.
00:17New South Wales police confirmed the improvised explosive devices were discovered on Sunday evening close to the attack site and were later rendered safe by specialist bomb disposal officers.
00:33Authorities said the explosives were active but described as fairly basic in construction.
00:39The attack unfolded just before 7pm during a Jewish Hanukkah by the sea gathering with victims ranging in age from as young as 10 to 87 years old.
