00:00I think one of the things that I think Jackie obviously nailed, life was going to be hard.

00:07He was special. He was put in a certain position to rise above and know that it's not just about the game of baseball.

00:16Jack gave everything to the Dodgers in terms of his heart and soul and his body.

00:23And 1955, that'll be one of the happiest days of my life when they finally beat the Yankees.

00:30And I missed the play of the game in the first game when Jackie stole home.

00:35I've regretted that all my life. I got a great picture of it, though.

00:39And that's what Jackie meant to me. He meant excellence, giving it all, giving your best.

00:46I'm very proud to have been able to emulate Jackie in the right way.

00:52And happy Jackie Robinson Day. Each and every single year in Major League Baseball, April 15th is a date that you circle on the calendar.

00:59You know it's a chance for us to celebrate not just the Dodgers icon, a baseball icon, but an American one.

06:27Where he is today, who he is today, wouldn't have been possible without those who paved the way for him.
