00:01It has been raining all day and night long in Atlanta but after a better than
00:06three hour rain delay the tarp is off the field and we get to play some
00:10baseball very late at night going into Sunday morning perhaps. This is the
00:16latest the game has ever started here. The young Spencer Schwellenbach will
00:20make a start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Five of his six outings have
00:24been quality starts so far this year. This young man is built for a long-term
00:29success. He has the makeup, the stuff. He throws strikes maybe sometimes a little
00:34bit too often early on and that's been a little bit of a issue where the hitters
00:38have gotten some success early. Comes home with a 1-2 and Otani ropes it into
00:42center field to get things started. A leadoff single for Shohei Otani. Quick
00:48hands and he's down at first base for Mookie Betts on the 2-2 pitch. Ground ball
00:53backhanded by Olsen. Triggers a second. Ozzie back to first. Bounce the throw. Matt
00:57couldn't come up with it. Fielder's choice for Mookie Betts. It goes 3-4 in the put
01:01out at second.
01:03And Teoscar Hernandez National League leader in RBIs.
01:07And that time he gets it by him. Went with a good slider. And there's his first
01:11strikeout of the game and out number three in the top of the first inning.
01:14Facing Sasaki. Roki making his seventh start in the major leagues and still
01:19searching for win number one. Left field. Ranging over to his glove side left is
01:24Michael Conforto. He'll look up into the overcast sky and make the catch for the
01:28first out. Facing Austin Riley. The right-handed hitting third baseman who
01:32hits a slow roll of the third. Backhanded by Muncy. He'll have to put it in his pocket.
01:36It'll be an infield single for Austin Riley. That is his team leading 37th hit of the
01:42year. One down one on. Here's Marcelo Zuna. Strike three caught. Fastball up in the
01:47zone at 96. Yeah that's right down the middle. These Braves hitters seeing Sasaki for the
01:52first time. So trying to get a really good idea of his release point. Pitch on the
01:56way. Missed outside off the edge with a fastball. And Olsen walks. And now there are
02:01two men on board with two men out. That's part of that deal that looking up some
02:05numbers today. The numbers two three and four hitters in opposing lineups have
02:09dropped 21 percent walks. That is too high of a rate. And he struck him out. Oh fastball
02:16locked him up. He tried to swing and stopped. But it was a strike nonetheless. So two
02:21strikeouts in the inning for Sasaki mixed in with a walk and an infield single. Will
02:25Smith a 316 hitter. Smith cracks a ball to right field. Eli White back to the wall and
02:31it's off the very top of the brick. Smith with extra bases. He'll cruise in a second
02:36with a loud leadoff double. They're going to say that it caught Muncy on the foot. He's going to get
02:41first base. Two on and nobody out for Andy Pajas. Payoff pitch and Pajas sends it out
02:48towards right center. Good break by Harris. He's got it. Smith will tag. One down
02:53runners at the corners for Michael Conforto. You know this is a golden
02:56opportunity. You can trade an out for a run and take the lead. Here's that bouncing ball to short
03:02Allen to Albies and they're not going to get the throw over to first. Smith is going to come home
03:08and score the first run of the night. I wish Nick had taken that one to the bag himself. He was right
03:13behind the base. And I think his momentum would have been strong enough where he could have stepped on
03:18the bag and thrown to first and had a better chance at the double play. There was no chance for
03:22Ozzie. The Dodgers with a one nothing lead. When they score first their record is 12 and 4. Three
03:28fastballs three swings and misses for Taylor. Two strikeouts in the game for Schwellenbach. But the
03:33Dodgers pick up a tally. One run one hit three two to Ozzie Albies. Ozzie's going to shoot one in the
03:38center field. Good at bat by Ozzie Albies. Got a slider he could handle and plug that into center field.
03:44Laid off single. Throw down and Albies has a stolen base with a headfirst slide. It'll be his fifth stolen
03:50base of the season. And now the Braves have the tying run and scoring position. One out for Eli White.
03:55Base hit should tie the game. Here it comes. And that'll be whistled down the right field line.
04:00That's a fair ball all the way into the corner. That'll tie up the game. RBI triple. And a tie game
04:05in the second. Wasn't hit all that hard but perfectly placed down the right field line. And Eli White was
04:12off to the races. They average about 10 strikeouts a game in their losses. They struck out 10 times
04:18in last night's contest. And Mustard just two hits. They're well ahead of that already.
04:22Fisted towards the back of second. Two bets. The two men who were traded for one another
04:27collide for the final out of the second. Albies scores on the white triple.
04:32Big crowd here on hand despite the lengthy rain delay on the outset of the game.
04:37This game starting three hours and six minutes later than anticipated.
04:41Shohei Ohtani first pitch swinging. Cranks went out to center. Harris back near the wall.
04:46Shohei Ohtani knocks one out to give the Dodgers the lead once more.
04:51Oh the big show with a big fly. Home run number eight for Ohtani.
04:58And Mookie bench lines one to left center field. That's a hit.
05:01The Mookie's extended his streak to six games. Come on base twice now tonight.
05:06Runner at second. One out for Teoscar Hernandez.
05:08On the ground in between Allen and Albies. That's going to score bets.
05:13And that gives the Dodgers a three to one lead.
05:16And Hernandez adds to his National League leading RBI total.
05:20He now has 33 runs batted in.
05:22Yeah. Just hits the ball wherever it's pitched.
05:25And he laid off what looked to be a pretty good cutter there that Ryan Wills says was high ball four.
05:30And Pajas the seventh Dodger to the plate here in the top of the third inning.
05:33They've scored two runs during the third.
05:35There's a swing and miss for Pajas.
05:37And Schwellenbach finally ends the inning.
05:39Here's Marcelo Zuna.
05:40Man slider this time gets Ozone who's only swung one time on the ten pitches that he has seen.
05:47What makes this guy I think again so special is the upside of when he learns to command all of these pitches
05:54and put the hitter on notice that he could throw him at any time.
05:57Good job by Olsen again.
05:59Runs the count full and then draws his second walk of the night.
06:04Olsen at first two down for Murphy who went down looking back in the first inning.
06:07Bang to the left side grabbed by Muncie.
06:09Throwed a second to get the final out of the inning.
06:11They'll retire Olsen.
06:12There's the 2-2 all the way to Chris Taylor.
06:15Being cut from Taylor is off to a rocky start with a couple of strikeouts tonight.
06:19Shohei is two for two.
06:20He's singled in the first and hit a blast to center field for his eighth home run of the season in the third.
06:26Three for three night for Shohei Ohtani.
06:29Three trips in the first four innings and he's already aboard for the third time.
06:34Two outs with Ohtani at first and the stretch of the pitch coming to Mookie.
06:38Pulled down the line past the diving Riley.
06:40It's a fair ball.
06:41Ohtani will score and in the second with a two out run scoring double as Mookie bets.
06:47It's 4-1 Los Angeles.
06:49Mookie off of second base.
06:51Payoff pitch to Freeman.
06:52He swings and lines it to left field.
06:54That ball is slicing.
06:55It's down for a hit.
06:55Here's the throw to the plate and it is just late.
06:58Bats comes across standing right in front of the throw in out of left field.
07:03It's now 5-1 Dodgers on the base hit by Freeman.
07:06Shortest doubting of the season for Spencer Schwellenbach.
07:08Does not get out of the fourth.
07:10He's still responsible for Freddie Freeman at second.
07:13He'll give way to the left-hander Aaron Bummer.
07:15He's trying to keep this game where it's at.
07:16Facing Teoscar Hernandez.
07:18There's a little swinging bunt up the first base side.
07:21Hernandez is going to be safe.
07:23And Freeman thinking about coming home.
07:25But he will come home now as Bummer throws the ball away.
07:28And Freddie scores.
07:30And down to second goes Teoscar.
07:32And a disastrous run with two outs in this inning for the Braves.
07:36All of this coming with two outs.
07:39And Will lines it to right field.
07:40That's a base hit.
07:41Teoscar's going to get waved home.
07:42And a slide right past the bottom point of home plate by Teoscar Hernandez.
07:48It is 7-1 Dodgers.
07:50And Will Smith with another run batted in.
07:52He's got 19.
07:54Trying to get back into this game.
07:55As the Albies leading off.
07:57He scored the only run of the game for the Braves.
07:58That was in the second.
08:00Albies hits a ball hard deep to right field.
08:02That's a good start for Atlanta.
08:04As Albies goes deep for the fifth time this year.
08:07And the Braves get a run back here in the fourth.
08:10And every once in a while you can afford to give up a solo home run with a big lead.
08:14One down for Eli White.
08:16And White goes the other way for a base knock.
08:19Twice he's gone to right field.
08:20An RBI triple and now a single here in the fourth.
08:24Nick Allen over one with a ground out to third.
08:26One-two pitch to Allen with the runner going.
08:28And that's going to allow Eli White to cruise into third and maybe come home.
08:33But the fastest in baseball will come around.
08:35An RBI double from Nick Allen in the bottom of the order.
08:38Trying to get things going for Atlanta.
08:40They've added a pair and it's 7-3 here in the fourth.
08:44Two down for Ozzie Albies.
08:46Against Roki Sasaki who's trying to get through five innings with a lead.
08:50And try to put himself in position for his first career major league win.
08:54Sasaki deals.
08:56Albies pops it up.
08:58Near second.
08:59The shortstop Betts is there.
09:00It's the first 1-2-3 inning for Sasaki who's in line for his first major league win.
09:06The six times that Otani and Betts have made contact.
09:09The average exit velocity of those six swings.
09:12103 miles an hour.
09:13As he hits one right back to Bummer.
09:16What a play by Aaron Bummer to snare that rocket.
09:19Another one off the bat of Betts.
09:21Two down.
09:21Sometimes the pitchers get a little lucky and the ball finds the glove.
09:25Back-to-back base on ball.
09:27Otani will head to second base.
09:29Betts down to first.
09:30And two on and one out for Freddie Freeman.
09:32It's eight straight out of the zone from Scott Blewett after he got the first man down in Taylor.
09:363-1 pitch and Freeman hits the ball high and deep to center field.
09:40This ball is back and this ball is gone.
09:44Freddie Freeman with a three-run homer here in Atlanta.
09:48And the Dodgers lead it 10-3.
09:51Freeman's sixth home run of the season and his third hit of the ball game.
09:56And the Dodgers have opened this one up.
09:58To the bottom of the ninth in Atlanta and we will see the Major League debut of the South Korean star Haesong Kim.
10:06Who was recalled from AAA Oklahoma City with Tommy Edmund going to the I.L.
10:12Dealing with that ankle injury.
10:13Shows up on a Saturday and ends up playing his first game in that same game on a Sunday.
10:19Bases are loaded for Matt Olsen.
10:21Just one out here in the ninth.
10:22So the Braves, as you talked about earlier, Brian Sintker's team will not go quietly into the late, late night.
10:30Olsen swings and misses.
10:32Two down.
10:32That was a nasty split-finger fastball.
10:35Called strike three and the team with the best record in baseball tacks on another win.
10:40It's their seventh in a row and Roki Sasaki has his first Major League victory.
