11 Michelin picks in Cebu receive plaques

Eleven out of 18 Cebu-based restaurants recognized by the Michelin Guide receive their plaques on Dec.13, 2025 in Cebu City, following the announcement last Oct. 30. Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco will visit the remaining seven establishments for a food run to present their plaques on-site. The six Bib Gourmand honorees—recognized for serving exceptional food at reasonable prices—include Abaseria Deli & Cafe, CUR8, Esmen, Lasa, Pares Batchoy Food House, and The Pig & Palm. Twelve Cebu-based restaurants made it to the Michelin Selected 2026 list, celebrated for quality cuisine and noteworthy dining experiences. These are Abli, ATO-AH, COCO, DIP, Enye by Chele Gonzalez, House of Lechon, Soba Kamakura, Maya, Lantaw (Compostela), Pares Pares (N. Escario St.), Sialo, and Socarrat.

01:08To reiterate the pride and joy that all of us have had in all of you for this monumental achievement, not just for yourselves, but for the Philippines.
01:20The Michelin guide having arrived in the country is an affirmation of the culinary excellence that pervades our entire nation, especially in Manila, Cebu, and its environs.
01:34Before we proceed to the most awaited part of today, apart from the food,
01:40allow me to share a little bit about the journey that it has taken to come here.
01:44Of course, for many of you, it has taken years, years, and perhaps for others, maybe decades, to come to this day of global acclaim.
01:58And we honor that because we understand the sacrifices that you and your families have had to make to pursue such a singular devotion to culinary excellence.
02:14We honor that for the contributions that it has had to our communities, not just in the restaurants itself, but to the greater value chain of tourism.
02:38Our farmers, our farmers, our fisher folk, our suppliers, our growers, all of those whose lives have been benefited by your passion and your choice to pursue this most meaningful representation of the Filipino culture.
02:59On our end, in the Department of Tourism, when I was newly started, in 2022, one of the specific instructions of the President to me was this.
03:14They tried to try to explore how the Philippines can earn this global distinction.
03:23And the other end of that spectrum was the listening tours that I conducted with members of the culinary industry,
03:36who had this common aspiration that for the world to get to know what all of you already know,
03:47and that is that the culinary excellence exists here in the country.
03:52And so, it has been a journey of around three years, and that has culminated in the Michelin finally arriving in the Philippines
04:06and honoring our deserving, very well-deserving establishments with no less than 108 restaurants, eateries, kind of things.
04:20Well, they say that a way to a person's heart is through the belly.
04:27Do you believe that saying?
04:28Yes.
04:29Well, we at the DOT also believe that one way to discover the heart and the culture of the nation is through our food,
04:39our diversity of flavors and the unique tourism experiences around them.
04:45Today, we are very excited to unleash the power of a tried and tested platform through which we can herald the richness
04:55and the country's food culture, the invigorating and inspiring talent.
