Jericho Jones — Junkies, Monkeys & Donkeys 1972 (Israel, Heavy Progressive Rock)
These fiery Israeli guys formed in 1965 as "The Churchills" to fill a void in their hometown beat scene and soon became its leaders and driving force. Then they moved to the holy of holies—London. Not long before, the band had changed vocalists, and Danny Shoshan of "The Lions" took Stan Solomon's place, having requested to return home to Canada. The new frontman gravitated toward a heavier style. The band changed its name to "Jericho Jones," and then simply to "Jericho." Their debut album wasn't a masterpiece, but the music on it was damn sweet. The title track was a true highlight—a stunning blues with a brilliant vocal line. The irony is that the musicians never worked in this direction again. The group toured not only throughout Europe (Germany, Holland, France, Belgium), but also visited South Africa. They weren't exactly sold-out shows, but at the time they had devoted fans all over the world...
